Clarion Call Is made: Continuous Attack On Muslim Shops

Clarion Call is made; Continuous Attack on Muslim Shops, a reminder of 1956 & 1983 Tamil pogrom

Mawanella is a town situated in Kegalle district, Sabaragamuwa Province of Sri Lanka. It lies between Kegalle and Kadugannawa along the Colombo-Kandy road. There are considerable Moors and few Malays or Muslims population in the township and Mawanella quarters. The area is home to less than half a million people. Most of the contiguous areas are by and large occupied by Muslim and Sinhalese; Mawanella’s urbanized area is predominantly of Muslim communities.

For those familiar with the rooted local history, Muslims and Sinhalese communities have for long lived together harmoniously, barely of difference until the war victorious GOSL clandestinely began aiding and abetting the orange robed hooligan monks to propagate fake stories about Muslims.

A once pleasant social pluralist society has been tore apart and turned wild. In case the situation continues in this manner, on whose shoulder the catastrophic ramifications be laid. The leaders, who architected the enmity, injected and cultivated these types of poisonous and venomous thoughts amongst innocent Sri Lankan Sinhalese today rest in peace at Gampaha Horagolla Walawwa.

Not until of recent, incidents of organised crimes such as recent attack and burning of Muslim shops as reported by the local police is uncharacteristic of the locality, though there have been few army deserters reportedly involved in small level crime cases.

BBS FBIt is also an undeniable fact that GOSL has been deploying its own private army to spy on opposition members, ex-President Chandrika, and media personals.[1]Implicitly, the actions of GOSL prove that it will go to any extent to remain in power and propagate any false stories behind the screen.

Bringing back Mawanella to radar, Mawanella is a quiet town popular for Sinhala-Muslim unity. Historically, the town owes the fame as the abode of Utuwankandey Soora Saradiel alias Ceylon “Robin-Hood” – anindigenous local thatferociously rebelled andwrestled against British colonialism. Saradiel hailed from Mawanella, his glory lives to date (though not in the current urbanized Mawanella area).

Although, he is today a controversial character, yet his acts can be regarded as anti-British village ruffian, who fought against the local feudal chieftains. He looted possessions from the British officers and their local counterparts and dispensed amongst downtrodden villagers. Deekirikewagelage Saradiel was accompanied by fellow native’s specifically Mammale Marikkar, his sister, Abd-al-Cader, Nazarudeen, Samadet cetera.

On March 21, 1864, Saradiel was incapacitated by Mahath, a Muslim officer’s gun shot, which led to his execution at Kandy jail, Mammale Marikkar and few other comrades were also jailed in same Kandy jail, thus, ended the chapter of this local “Robin-Hood”.

Here, I would like to state that “One man’s terrorist can be another man’s freedom-fighter” and the same goes with the Saradiel for Sri Lankans. Saradiel was indeed a symbol of unity and resistance for the locals. Long are the heydays when, Sinhalese, Muslims and Tamils lived as unpolarised community, united and bonded together irrespective of their ethno-religious inclinations. They were rather fraternized, cohabitated peacefully on the island and resisted external forces like (Imperial Britain) with one voice, until the SWRD Bandaranaike’s “Sinhala Only[2]chauvinistic initiative. The new political narrative found a footing back in 1956, dampened the former English hegemony status and instead encouraged socialist, anti-Western rhetoric that intensely challenged the root of Sri Lankan politics in the following decades. Since independence, SLFP adopted this rhetoric as prime party philosophy.[3]Bandaranaike presented an existential argument for his “Sinhalese only” philosophy, a philosophy he deemed would preserve the Sinhalese “race, religion and culture from vanish.”[4]

Despite Premier Bandaranaike’s rhetoric, his life was ended by Talduwe Somarama, vicious Buddhist monk from Kelaniya for his own business intentions. The succeeding PM who came to power in then Ceylon, on a majority Sinhala nationalist platform was equally gunned down by very same nationalist Buddhist monk.[5] The violent actions of such monks in Sri Lankan and other established Buddhist countries, where supposedly non-violent monks perpetrate violence in the name of religion exonerate the singularity of Muslims as violent people. It further suggests that all men are same, prone and instinctively violent, regardless of the faith or creed.

A statesman isn’t just knowledgeable on the technicalities of day-to-day statecraft, but reconstructs the relevant past event and learns a great deal from history. President Mahinda Rajapakse would be falling short of being a statesman and could meet similar fate, if he fails to learn from the lesson of Bandaranaike and if he chooses not to discontinue with similar “Sinhala Only” policy. Though, President Rajapakse has not publicly stated the Bandaranaike’s philosophy, but apparently and covertly feeding the Sinhalese minds and hearts with this ‘pseudo-nationalism’ with the anticipation to remain longer in power.

Back to Mawanella incident, it is imperative to refer to an incident that took place in May 2001,[6]the trivial division of Muslim and Sinhala society had rear-end with each other owing to a minor mix-up. Mawanella police, Buddhist temples and Muslim mosques have cordially cooperated to avoid unwanted misgivings, until the latest attack and burning of a Muslim shop.[7]

If I imprecisely remember, the2001 incident happened on the refusal of a local grocery owner to hand over a gratis cigarette packet to a drunkard hooligan, allegedly having local politician support. The refusal of shop keeper angered the drunkard, who later stormed the shop along with his peers in hooliganism, beat and tied the victim to the city’s clock.

The dawn of the next day witnessed people from suburb area rushed to the town and clash broke out between Muslims and Sinhalese, resulted to loss of properties worth million rupees owned by Muslims. Uninterestingly, not a single Sinhalese shop or house was attacked or torched. Sinhalese were not targeted, except few Muslims who were living close by predominantly majority Sinhalese villages.

But, the situation came under control since then President Chandrika Bandaranaike deployed forces immediately and restored peace in the city and surrounding areas. Police resorted to gun fire to curb the situation, though resulted to the casualty of a Muslim octogenarian, allegedly wanting to buy bread.

This was the strategy and the measurements taken by our previous Sri Lankan President to curb and quell any such major situation, and never let the issue see maturity. The inaction of the police to non-Sinhalese is nothing less than a robbery of fundamental right of other, particularly the Muslims. Whenever attacked on non-Sinhalese surface, the police turned a blind eyes, unleash their protection and security of the Sinhalese. Thus, maintaining the tradition since 1956 & 1983 riots- assuring the Sinhalese safety and security.

Today, the Muslims feel they are alienated within their own society by their own Sinhala brothers. The Muslims have sacrificed their lives and properties to safeguard the sovereignty and territorial integrity of this country, but today, have lost their hope and the trust for their safety and security as Tamils felt prior to 1956 and 1983.And, neither positive nor negative security assurance is given by the GOSL to Muslims. Thus, will President Mahinda Rajapaksa and his shenanigans be taking the responsibility if any major-situation takes place? Or Monk Gnaanasara led Bodu Bala Sena, Ravana Balaya or JHU would take the responsibility?

It is time for all of us to recognize that the Secretary of Defense whose job it is to see his police force is keeping rule and order in the country has failed in his job and he should resign. Its time all peace loving citizens of Sri Lanka should stop working for one day and protest on the streets of Sri Lanka.

Due to the difficult economic conditions affecting all communities there has been a tendency by some elements to blame the minority community for the travails of the majority.

Rogue organisations like BBS, SR have made use of the opportunity to indoctrinate the lay followers about the supposed conspiracies hatched by minorities to take over the country etc.

Lack of any intelligent response from the politicians, intellectuals and scholars belonging to the majority community to dispel such lies has led to the current situation.

    Dear Rushdy Nizar,

Get each community aform home guards, like what was done during LTTE Terrorism days, consisting of the locals both residents both Sinhala, Tamil and Muslims. Also captivate guards, When a disturbance happens, arrest and attack the attackers as a self defense measure and record it by video taping it. Make sure the identity of the attackers can be recognized,

Then make your complaints locally and internationally.

Some people are in denial of atrocities committed against religious and ethnic minorities under the Rajapakse regime. The fence that should protect the crops encourages gracing and destruction unprecedented in this country. How is that this extremism shows its ugly face under the watch of Rajapakses? It is well planned and masterminded or just too many coincidences?

No. CT thinks that Ammarasiri cannot cure ella-kolla, as CT was not able to do, and to to give up trying to cure ella-kolla, getting treatment by taking the bus 134 or going to Habaraduwa.

Amarasiri agrees with CT that ell-kolla is not curable, and it is wasted effort.

              Very Good advice.

These Muslim writers obviously either don’t read or can’t comprehend articles by the West worshipping elite who put pressure 24/ 7 on the Govt to give Sambandan the mini Eelaam under the Indian drafted 13A.

And add more as well because Jayalaitha says so and Modi is watching.

If the Govt succumbs where are the 10% plus Muslims going to live?.

Are they happy to live in the North and the East under the LTTE proxy sambandan and his Prema Sivagilingam, Ananthi clan?.

Will these Muslims get fair treatment to share everything in the North and the East from these LTTE proxies?.

If the Muslims come out openly and say that they are happy to be confined to the North and the East like the Tamil brethren would do under the 13 A if it is implemented they wouldn’t have to face these alleged attacks.

      3

I am sure that you are aware that the Tamil ‘redeemer’, aka mass murderer, Prabhakaran had no love for the Muslims and evicted them his domain with barely the clothes on their backs. There was no protest at all from the Tamils, be they politician or otherwise, at the time, nor was there any international protest. Yet these very same Tamils are the false champions of human rights today. Those who yet seek a mono-ethnic entity (after the demise of the LTTE) in Sri Lanka are unlikely to welcome the Muslims back with open arms either. The Muslims are stuck with us, and we, with them.

The activities of certain Buddhist monks are certainly no help to producing a harmonious environment. However it must not be forgotten, that as a group the Muslims are probably doing far better today than at any time in the past. Still, their protests must be heard.

That is the first time I’ve heard Prabhakaran demonised as being mad and he was not referred to as a murderous terrorist for that reason. If you do not know the chasm between a hooligan and a terrorist, I won’t waste my breath trying to enlighten you.

So Ram, can you actually show PROOF that ordinary Tamils are preventing the return of Muslims?

I have asked you this question before and always you run away like a weasel.

        Stop making unsubstantiated allegations !

        • 2
          0

          Fitzpatrick,

You have delusionally sought to prevent an effective answer to the claim that Tamils will prevent Muslims settling down among them, by using the term ORDINARY Tamils. Please remember over 90 percent of Tamils, that included ordinary and extra-ordinary Tamils, whatever that may mean, affectionally referred to the murderous Tigers as “OUR boys”. Your boys and girls, uncles, aunties, mothers, fathers, grand-dads and grand-mas, all supported every action of the Tigers, culminating in the expulsion of Muslims from “your” areas. It is obvious that you and your ilk will never allow Muslims to settle in the North or East in peace.

First and foremost, start being honest to yourself.

It is interesting Sinhala and Tamil religio racist fanatics commenting on CT have started using Western sounding pseudonyms – another indication of intention to mislead.

          • 1
            1

You keep saying that you and your like [Tamils you mean, I am a Burgher FYI and hence my English name]
won’t allow for resettlement, but you don’t show proof of it.

NO one denies that the LTTE forced the Muslims out, now show me proof that someone is preventing their return.

Come come, stop making up stories and show proof Indra.

Stop using the LTTE as an excuse, its been dead for 5 years (if it is not dead yet then ask the government to stop celebrating every May 18th )

The weasel words are yours not mine. You are as much a Burgher as any Fitzpatrick is English, or for that matter, that Native Veddah is a Veddah, unless of course that is from the version of history being prepared by Wigneswaran.

The mass murderer did not become so of his own volition. He was led astray by ‘astute’ politicians of the day, politicians who were elected and took pride in ‘our boys’ and their vile deeds. These politicians kept being repeatedly elected, as others not of like mind were eliminated. Those who elcted them, whether ‘ordinary’ or otherwise bear full responsibility for what ‘our boys’ did including the ethnic cleansing

The LTTE leaders in Sri Lanka were near eliminated but NOT the LTTE. It exists in many guises and under different labels, making the very same demands and yet getting elected in the North. Actions do speak louder than words.

‘Native Veddah’, your side kick had a problem with the numbers of evicted Muslims in Puttalam I had introduced. He has today been answered by Colombo-based NGO Law and Society Trust. A veddah running with the LTTE????.

Whether you accept me as a Burgher or not is not a concern of mine.

Now produce the PROOF that Tamils are preventing the RETURN of Muslims.

Not about the LTTE atrocities, everyone accepts those, now come on show the proof that I asking without just writing a lot of rubbish.

More weasel words. Your claim to being an ‘English’ Fitzpatrick and a Burgher should have told me not to depend too much on your ability to comprehend what I have said above, and to deduce as intended. I apologise for that.

There are over 13% Muslims in India. But this time around only 23 of the 543 MPs in Lok Sabha (parliament) were Muslims. And that is just 4%.

Amazingly, the ruling party BJP has no Muslims in the Lok Sabha. Antipathy for Muslims among Hindus were such, BJP fielded only 7 Muslims among its 482 candidates. And all seven of them lost.

Is there something wrong with India or Muslims? To answer that question, one must count the votes received by BJP’s Muslim candidates. BJP polled 171.6 million votes (31%) nationwide. Of that, just 5.55 lakh went to seven Muslim candidates of BJP. We can safely assume that only 5.55 lacks of Muslims voted BJP.

Wahhabi and Salafi tawheed are extremist fundamentalists. But at this instant, they have become secularists and voted unpopular Congress for the sake of defeating BJP. By and large, aim of Muslims have been to defeat the party backed by majority Hindus.

I have written earlier on how Wahhabi and Salafi tawheed thugs become very active in Sri Lanka and the way they pushed the moderate Sufi Muslims into oblivion during the past few decades. It seems, Muslims in Sri Lanka aim to follow the same electoral tactics of their brethren in India. It is clear that Muslims who are influenced by Wahhabi and Salafi Tawheed are backing the unpopular UNP because its hierarchy are known to be anti-Buddhists. And they oppose Rajapakse because he is known to be backed by the vast majority of Buddhists.

Today, the world has become a very small place. Everyone knows what’s happening around the world in few minutes. People know Muslims offer no rights to minorities in countries where they are the majority but demand every right where they are the minority. This fraud is fast becoming exposed and Europeans are getting sick of it.

In France, Le Pen’s far right National Front has won a nationwide (EU) election for the first time. The situation is analogous in the UK, Denmark and Austria. Wherever Tawheed Muslims en-massed they have brought nightmares on locals and often forced them out of their areas. Needless to say they are increasingly pushing the average man everywhere to vote for nationalists.

In the circumstance, Muslims in Sri Lanka must decide whether they wanted to follow Wahhabi and Salafi tawheed tactics and face a barrage of the saffron or look inwards and see what’s wrong with them and change themselves to live like Sufi Muslims of yesteryear in Sri Lanka.

BJP won 71 out of 80 seats in the populous northern state of Uttar Pradesh, where Muslims are over a fifth of the population. This feat would have been mathematically impossible if all of the state’s Muslims voted for non-BJP candidates, even if their votes were split among several parties such as the Bahujan Samaj Party, the Samajwadi Party, and the Congress Party. According to BJP party spokesman Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, around 14-15 percent of India’s Muslims voted for the BJP. This is a vast improvement over the 2-3 percent garnered in previous elections.

      Banda

“But this time around only 23 of the 543 MPs in Lok Sabha (parliament) were Muslims. And that is just 4%.”

I needn’t remind you that there is something called “First Pass the Post”

      Here is how it works:

How does First Past The Post work?

Under First Past The Post (FPTP) voting takes place in single-member constituencies. Voters put a cross in a box next to their favoured candidate and the candidate with the most votes in the constituency wins. All other votes count for nothing. We believe FPTP is the very worst system for electing a representative government. – See more at:

Everyone knows that ‘first past the post system’ is the way they elect MPs in most democratic countries. Only presidents are elected with 50%+1 vote.

Muslims be patient. Recently the IGP said there is no Muslim extremism in the country. Though perpetrators try to perpetuate the situation for them to take an advantage out of it, the people of Sri Lanka will realize that all these stories of Jihard, conversion of girls into Islam at No-Limit propagated by anti Muslim and hate speakers are concocted stories to mislead the sinhalese people just for the survival and growth of iinterested parties.

If our Sinhalese want to test any of the allegation levelled by the BBS, a simple thing to do is just get hold a girl working at a NO Limit shop and inquire from her as to whether any of the Sinhalese girls have got married to Muslims and coverted to Islam. Then they can come out with the truth. Untill the Majority Sinhalese come to know how to analyse a problem of this nature objectively the BBS like organizations have a field day in the society to mislead them

Dear Allay Werasingghe. Thank you very much for your thought provoking obverstion and remarks. I like the way you have been writing the truth and I think that justice is unconditional and obsalute . There is no one just for BBS and another type for Muslims and there is no one justice for MR and another for His opponents. But what happened in Sri Lanka is justice has been rapped by MR and his brothers. Look how they have rapped justice in Sri Lanka . No other politicians or president has raped justice as MR did In recent time for our legal systems: our courts or minister of justice, our law enforcement agents , police, army and air forces all have rapped by these political thungs and they have mamreid illegally to the family of MR and his family take any of these institutions at their will and rape the justice system openly and yet . Public have no choice but listen snc obey:
What happend in Indian politics could be repeated in SL
Every knee know how MR family made money out of politics
They were poor and some of theme went Ameria for good life and come back when MR came to power to robe nation wealth and money: now they are rich and made their wealth and money from politics
Prople know this and waiting to teach them lessons soon.
They raped the Lankan constitution to reach their organism from it and now MR is in third term and wants to come into power for ever.
They have not learned lessons from Sadam and Qaddafi .

This is what Modi’s RSS told BBS.

Too bad Muslims. Modi is the new boss. You either love him or hate him.

What started in 1983 ended in 2009.

    Same winners in both years.
    Same losers in both years.

There are 250,000 Muslims in the Puttalam area (The Forgotten People of Puttalam in the Leader). Most are the evictees from the North, evicted by the ‘revered’ leader of the LTTE, who is no more. These are verifiable figures according to Colombo-based NGO Law and Society Trust, very different from the baseless, fanciful figures of the Tamils missing in the last 4 months of the anti-terror war in 2009 as claimed by the catholic bishops.

Yet, the LTTE-loving trolls with multiple monikers on this site question the figures. These ethnic-cleansed Muslims need to be resettled in their original abodes in the North. They should not remain forgotten.

What Muslims are you trying to protect?

There are no real Muslims in SL. Name sake Muslims are Hindus with traces of Islam.

True Islam is Wahabism. SL Muslims need to be saved from themselves until they embrace Wahabism.
