Several UNP Parliamentarians confirmed that fake Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa has tendered his letter of resignation from the Prime Minister’s post.

Meanwhile, Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa confirmed that the former President has “decided” to resign from premiership.
“To ensure stability of the nation, Former President @PresRajapaksa has decided to resign from the Premiership tomorrow after an address to the nation. The SLPP with Frm President, SLFP & others will now work to form a broader political coalition with President Sirisena,” Namal Rajapaksa said.

After NCM removing the Cabinet and PM, they illegally operated. That was challenged in the court. But they too challenged the court decision. The current resigning decision is coming after third loss of the court cases. But there are other parliament proposals, which restricted funds being used by Old Royals’ cabinet. This was not challenged by Old Royals. So it is not clear how they would have operated if they had won the last Appeal Court Injunction case. Beyond this they had no majority to pass any finance bills. Parliament cannot be dissolved and elections cannot be held if they lose a Budget or Vote of Account. Can Old King explain tomorrow his ideas to run the government behind his action of hanging on to the power after losing the case of Parliament dissolving, after losing the proposal to fund restriction and after having an injunction, which can go well into the next financial year, restricting them function in their position? That is simply blaming New King to white flag murders and they keep running the country as a family’s private business, without minding any law. Can he say tomorrow that wasn’t a selfish-power hungry urged action?
An immediate election will wipe out SLFP from the face of earth. But with the hope of repeating the February 2018 LG election, it is the Old Royals who has been pushing for election. Right after getting the PM Position, Old King switched over to Slap Party. In SLFP there is still some SWRD loyalist are there. Members vetted by Old Younger Brother Prince and admitted into that party. There are no people or members electing system of candidates, in that party.
