Former Army Commander and Presidential contender in the 2010 presidential election Sarath Fonseka has thanked the Canadian Government for its decision to boycott the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Colombo next month.

“Canada cannot be blamed for this decision. We must be ashamed by it. Canada’s reasons for the boycott is sound and we are completely in agreement. Canada had the backbone and courage to criticise this country’s political leadership and his Government’s corrupt ways. For that courage, I personally salute them,” BBC Sinhala quoted the former General as saying during a ceremony to appoint electorate organisers of his Democratic Party.
Fonseka said his party was completely opposed to CHOGM being held in Sri Lanka.
He said the people of this country will get no benefit from the summit.
“This Country does not adhere to Commonwealth values and principles. So we oppose this. This summit is not being held here with good intentions. It’s all about personal agendas.
“Sixty percent of what is spent is being stashed as commissions. All the while the country is being destroyed and the people are being fooled,” he said.
Asked what his message would be to the other member states attending the Commonwealth Summit Fonseka said it would be to ensure as they depart this country to ensure that Sri Lanka’s Government adheres to Commonwealth values and principles.
“Otherwise Sri Lanka gains nothing from them coming here,” Fonseka charged.
“If the country’s leader wants to be proud of what they have achieved, then he must show willingness to respect Commonwealth values, human rights, democracy and justice. Without those things, there is nothing to take pride in by just holding summits here,” he charged.

This man Sarath Fonseka was held in high esteem by the MR govt as the best Army Commander ever, during the period August 2008 to May 2009 and was accused as a Traitor thereafter when SF decided to challenge the Rajapaksas. Therefore no sooner the Propaganda War that was staged, with the tacit support of the Americans and the Indians was over, the Rajapaksas quickly got rid of SF.
SF nearly paid with his life along with Gota in 2006 when both tried to be smart when they attempted to lure VP to be killed long before the planned event according to the game plan given by the Americans. Thereafter both SF and Gota stuck to the plan given and finished the War in May 2009 after the LTTE buried all the heavy artillery and withdrew from all areas held by them including their stronghold Kilinochchi to a Beachfront for the final Drama, only to be massacred.
SF shooting his mouth about the massacre of the surrenderees, the white flag incident as he had no hand, because it was the work of Gota and Shavendra Silva, had to retract due to pressure from the Rajapaksas, the Americans and the Indians. Why are these great Patriots angry when SF spoke of the White Flag incident? All these buggers go hysterical and start to abuse SF calling him a Traitor. Why do they want this white flag story hidden? Not only these stupid Patriots, even Gota was hysterical and paranoid that he was threatening to hang SF for treason. There are two things that our Pseudo Patriots are worried. 1. A probe on the White Flag story. 2. A probe on War Crimes. Why should they be worried unless they are guilty of both. If not let the outside world hold an Inquiry.

Fonseka the fool. Each time he opens his mouth he proves what damage a power hungry, undiplomatic, soldier can bring about to himself and everyone around him. There seems to be very little difference between him and his counterpart soldier among the ruling elite.
His statements seem not connected and self-damaging
There comes a time when you stand by your country whether it is right or wrong. There comes a time when you silently digest the worst, for your motherland. It seems that he is forgetting this fact at regular intervals.
And, he seems to be the only one – not UNP, not JVP, not any other political Party and not the thousands of Canadian Citizens of Sri Lankan origin, in spite of being denied dual Citizenship, free-entry to motherland etc. by the ruling regime.

Boycotting the CHOGM is a right move, because the British killed millions of innocent people to rip off the world, and proclaimed that the sun never sets on the British Empire. The UNP, the JVP and the TNA also should do the same. Time to pressure the government not to entertain the colonial masters who ruled, ripped off and divided the country for centuries. The money should have well spent on other essential things for the people who are suffering due to high cost of living.

SF is quite correct, what benefit it would bring to SL, other than, more troubles. Certainly there may be a handful of people who would be economically benefiting out of this summit but not the people of our country. Billions of public money is being waisted by the current regime, and its allied. We remember in the past we had public finance regulations and administrative regulations (AR & FR) when spend public money, even by the highest authority of the country. We had rigid tender procedures. All these controls are now thrown out to the bin and one person’s mere word become the only authority and approval to waste any amount of public money in these days.
We need a honest and fearless leaders to change this adverse trend in Sri Lanka, if we are to take the county out of this current mess, and at least for our younger generation to live in a country that have true democracy, good values and better law and order.
Unfortunately majority of our people do not know the difference between the good leaders who may have a good vision for the country and the existing politicians the majority of them are corrupted and utterly selfish.

There are many similarities between SF and Sajith Rajapaksha in that both are obsessed with power greediness, malice, opportunistic and no gentlemanly qualities. SF has some sort of knowledge and ability to do something but SR is a dumb ass.
