FR Case Filed Against Eastern Province Chief Minister For His Verbal Outburst

An attorney at law today filed a fundamental rights petition against Chief Minister of the Eastern Province Nazeer Ahamed for acting in a disgraceful manner to a Navy Officer in May.

The attorney at law, P. Liyanaarachchi who filed the fundamental rights petition in the Supreme Court accused Ahamed of violating fundamental rights by acting in a dishonorable manner towards the navy officer at a school event in Sampur last month.

Ahamed made headlines last month following his outburst against the navy officer, who was a compere at an event at the Sampur Maha Vidyalaya in May. Ahamed admonished the officer telling him to ‘get out, you idiot,’ after the officer failed to acknowledge him at the event, and had also reportedly blocked him from walking up the stage.

The incident resulted in the Army, Navy and Air Force taking a decision to boycott all events attended by Nazeer, while an order was also issued to him through the Defence Ministry informing him not to visit military camps in the East. Subsequently, the ban was lifted by the ministry, and in a goodwill gesture, Nazeer was welcome by security forces at an army camp subsequently.

The attorney at law, P. Liyanaarachchi.

Apologies were made just move on.

We all know the CM and many other Politicians need training, retraining or reeducation.

While this is waste of time, interesting to see how the various clowns react and behave, in the Land where the Average IQ is 79.

When you hold a position of privilege, there is no room for mistakes. In a proper country, this CM would’ve been forced to resign.

In a proper country protocol would have been followed and there would have been no need for the CM to get angry in the first place.

Stop being racist, our country will be a better place.

Hatred does not cease by Hatred. I wonder why Sinhalese have to be so bitter?

I can bet most of you that are looking for social justice are not even in good terms with your next door neighbors, yet you want justice for this particular case. Because it involves a Muslim.

Snowden – Totally agree with your sentiment. Once a dispute is settled
amicably, it should be forgotten, instead of digging into it. Our people do not spend their time usefully.

The Supreme court will dismiss this straightaway, on the grounds that the petitioner has sought to make a Mountain out of a Molehill!

snowden Edwardo I agree. Now that all sides have apologised this matter should now be closed. I was originally scathing over the Chief Minister’s outburst but now that I’ve heard the full story I have no doubt the minister had been singled out to be humiliated and embarassed in the presence of foreign dignitaries. I thought these childish behaviour went out with the Rajapakses.

It is a pity that The attorney at law, P. Liyanaarachchi has nothing better to do than waste the courts time in this manner. He should concentrate to work for the betterment of the people rather than trying to ruin the very tentative peace that is prevailing right now in the country.

In our Tamil culture there is a saying, you never invite to your house or get involved with police or Lawyer, they will make you bankrupt and ruin your life. Once you go to them, they will make a meal out of that case. Our country is already ruined by many politicians. How come this incident is that insulting than politicians fighting inside parliament. Respect is not one way traffic, you have to give and take. If you give carrot, you will get carrot not gold.

    Sylvia Haik,

Very humane of you to admit that your original reaction to the Nazeer Ahamed outburst was premature. If only we could wait until all sides of a story are ascertained before reacting how many dangerous situations could have been avoided? But that I assume is part of been human.William Faulkner dwels on this aspect very well in his poem “Dry September” Fully agree with you that it is time to move on on the basis of bygones be bygones.

This Lawyer guy who is digging this up obviously wants to make a huge financial kill or at least to get his name in the papers and become famous and there would be many gullible idiots who would jump in the band wagon rather foolishly to help the man achieve his sinister ends.

It is very obvious that the JO will go at anything and any person to prove that the country is falling apart, that the economy falling apart, that the majority is under siege and that the army is loosing its grip and every thing else is in shambles under MS & RW.
How tiring for the common man!

It is likely that the CM’s Fundamental Rights too have been infringed by the Navy Kapitan, however ‘un-patriotic’ it may sound.

Fundamental rights should be filed by people of the eastern province against the Commander in Chief the President,, Navy Commander and Navy officer for trespassing into their property, the school and disgracing their first citizen by stopping him from getting to the stage and not getting out of the property after being told to get out.
In addition a criminal case should be filed against the Navy officer for Trespassing into the property owned by The Eastern Provincial government.

Of course you need not do all this, if naval officer is part of an ‘army of occupation’ and Naval officer belongs to ‘Nazi Gestapo’ like group. They could even send the Chief Minister to ‘Gas Chambers’

What is the difference between balla and ballah? Doesn’t it mean one and the same?
