Bodu Bala Sena has launched an online campaign against Burqa and Niqab. “Ban of face covering cloths”, the BBS CEO Dilanthe Withanage posted in his Facebook. He also posted the official web link of the Government of Netherlands decision to ban clothing that covers the face, which says; “The government has reaffirmed the decision to introduce a general ban on wearing clothing that covers the face in public. It believes that people need to be able to look each other in the eye and interact with recognisable faces. Open communication is vital in public places. Wearing clothing that covers the face is not appropriate in an open society like the Netherlands, where participation in social intercourse is crucial.”
Meanwhile an online petition also launched urging Secretary to the Ministry of Defence to ban the Burqa and Niqab in Sri Lanka. The petitioners says;

We believe that the government should Ban the Burka.

Yes I too agree that Burqua and Niqab should be banned in this country as the people of Islam faith itself are not aware of the meaning of this. Islam was born in the desert and the people who practiced it was nomads who lived in the dessert. They were tribal communities and eternally there were fight between tribes, some times to grab beautiful Arab women. Therefore to cover the beauty of women in those parts of the middle east, the women themselves thought of covering themselves with abaya, burqua and Niqab. it was an adaptation to the environment and not part of Islamic religion.
On the other hand even tip cut is for hygienic purpose as nomads walk from place to place for weeks in the desert due to lack of water, the tip may get infected. In modern day society it is not required. In fact the foreskin is to protect the tender portion of the penis.
However while accepting the objective of BBS and Ravana balaya, it is not the way for the Buddha’s deciples to behave. They behave like thugs. Buddhism is a peaceful, non violent religion and the actions of these persons in yellow robes, truly disgrace Buddhism

It sends a message that they are not fair game, and would expect to be respected for that reason. Better still, it is they who have the right to wear it or not. It is not forced on them. Those who wear it know the benefits and are hooked on it. If they remove it, they feel exposed, like being nude, or under scrutiny which makes them feel uncomfortable. First and foremost, it is God’s commandment to all women in a Quranic statement which reads ‘cover your beauty’. Beauty of a woman can be expressed in so many ways, her facial features and expressions, skin color and texture, her hair, eyes, voluptuous shape, her voice and tone can be a real turn-on, the jewellery she wears, indeed everything about her. So she obeys that command and wraps herself loosely in an unattractive black cloak. The only males they can expose themselves in a normal way are (i.e. face, hands and normal wear) is to their father, brother and their sons, sister’s sons, and then after marriage, their husband, son and son-in-law. Basically all of them are males whom they cannot marry, due to closeness in kinship. This is a divine (Islamic) Law, not some man made Law. So it has to be practical and perfect. Far from the way you perceive it to be.
