Bodu Bala Sena has launched an online campaign against Burqa and Niqab. “Ban of face covering cloths”, the BBS CEO Dilanthe Withanage posted in his Facebook. He also posted the official web link of the Government of Netherlands decision to ban clothing that covers the face, which says; “The government has reaffirmed the decision to introduce a general ban on wearing clothing that covers the face in public. It believes that people need to be able to look each other in the eye and interact with recognisable faces. Open communication is vital in public places. Wearing clothing that covers the face is not appropriate in an open society like the Netherlands, where participation in social intercourse is crucial.”
Meanwhile an online petition also launched urging Secretary to the Ministry of Defence to ban the Burqa and Niqab in Sri Lanka. The petitioners says;

One of my Muslim friends told that…..when you eat food with your fingers, there’s some enzymes build in your finger tips, and these enzymes act like anti Biotics and minerals and help to digest food. These have not been proved scientifically yet although many writings in Quran are been scientifically proved now. Therefore by licking your fingers after eating meals with your fingers you get these enzymes into your body.
Also if you go to a home as a guest for a meal, by licking your fingers you show them that you enjoyed their meals.
Even this is been practiced in our Rural homes. I know it doesn’t look good, but that is their culture.
Also may be eating louder may have something to show your appreciation towards food.
One cannot still beat a Pakistani Mutton Biryani yet…..It smells and taste so good.

1) I do proudly make sounds when eating. What is wrong with that? Eat with Japanese, have they stopped these beautiful eating habits because SUDDA thinks it is ugly to make sounds? No. I think this is the same with Chinese
2) What is wrong with licking fingers after having food? Lots of white girls and boys in Western cooking TV shows do that. It was only old Queen doesn’t do it in these days!!!
3) if you live some years in civilized country and back in CTB bus in SL. You will realized How smelly are we (our brothers and sisters) ? Nobody uses deodorants, even all school children were asked ro use deodorants by the schools in this part of the world.

It is not mandatory to cover the face of women in Islam…as far as i know. In Quran it says women should cover her body except the hand and the face………But today it became as modesty.
So banning burka/nikab will not solve the problem of spreading Islam in the world. Because lots of women converts to Islam in Europe., Why because, women have been harassed. In islam it is not mandatory to cover face for women. There is no law says women should cover the face in Quran. So, people just wasting their time here for debate. It is banning or allowing…..it should be debate in the parliament. GOTA is just a secretary not even a minister, he can do nothing on this issue. It should be decided by parliament and supreme/ high court.
