Hamudhuruwane! Booruwane! Stand Down!

By Yudhanjaya Wijeratne

Once, in Europe, there was a country that had just gotten through a war. It wasn’t the best place to be. It wasn’t the richest country in the world. Nevertheless, it was home to large numbers of people from a variety of races. People were, by and large, getting along and getting up on their feet again.

Then some madmen came along and changed all that.

They incited racism. They incited hate. They incited riots. And finally, when all the reins were in their hands, they incited a holocaust. Perfectly innocent people turned against neighbors they had lived with for decades.

This was wartime Germany, back in WWII. An estimated six million people of Jewish descent died in the holocaust that followed.

Let’s not pussyfoot around the issue. This WAS germany: and this, unless we act now, is also where Sri Lanka is heading. What was started by the religious extremist group “Bodu Bala Sena” is now spiralling into chaos.

Sri Lanka is corrupt, like a golden apple infested with orange worms.

Don’t get me wrong: I’m a Buddhist. My father, mother, and entire family have for generations been Sinhala and Buddhist. I believe in the Buddha. What we don’t believe in is the Bodu Bala Sena and their ilk. Let me spell out the situation in Sri Lanka right now. Buddhism, a pure philosophy that preaches nothing but tolerance and compassion, is being twisted in the hands of a gang of saffron-robed thugs. It’s being used as a weapon to incite hate, mass racism, and violence against the Muslim community of Sri Lanka. They aren’t monks. They’re terrorists.

The Buddha did not preach national security: he did not preach violence: he did not preach cultural barriers. He preached love, compassion, kindness. He preached getting along with your neighbors and fellow human beings, no matter what their race, religion or color. Right now that teaching is being twisted a hundred and eighty degrees by the Inquisition that is the Bodu Bala Sena.

It started before the Halaal issue. First it was the “Nolimit toffees” – a vague accusation that spread like wildfire: that the Muslim-owned Nolimit chain of fashion outlets had something in their free on-the-counter sweets that made people infertile. WTF. Look at it, written out: see how ridiculous it sounds. It was tactfully turned into a conspiracy: that the Muslims are out to rob Buddhists of their population.

Then came the Halaal incident: another prize piece of bullshit spewed by what I call “saffron terrorists”.   Something we accepted with no qualms for generations suddenly turns out to be a “national problem”. Graffiti on the walls. Hoots and chants inside schools. That’s how the fire began. Many people – including some of my own neighbors – in their ignorance were fooled into somehow believing that Muslim kovils were cheating them out of their hard-earned money. And why would they doubt the so-called Buddhist monks who tell them this? That’s like asking the Pope if God exists. The tongue, like a sharp knife, killed without drawing blood. Shadow – talk of “preserving the integrity of Sinhala culture” abounded. The country is 70% Buddhist, has been and probably always will be: what more do you want to preserve?

Today I woke up and read that the Fashion Bug in Pepiliyana, a Muslim-owned enterprise, was attacked by a mob. The reason? Some shadowy claim that a 15-year old girl was raped inside by the employees. Really? Hands up those who believe it. What on earth was a 15-year old girl doing inside there at night? And what evidence is there? Security tapes? None. The plain truth is the attack was an organized riot led by the Bodu Bala Sena.

Buddhist monks were apparently the first to attack. No, I won’t call them monks: they’re an insult to this religion, this country, and every human being on the planet. Justice would see them hanged, except there is no justice for ones such as these. This country – united as one – fought off the world’s most powerful terrorist group, bleeding, rejoicing as one, and now these vultures come to take it apart. Go to the prisons: count the murders, the rapists, the convicted. Where was the Bodu Bala Sena for the rapes and crimes of so-called “Sinhalese?”

To my Muslim friends, we apologize. We do not believe in this bullshit. We do not condone it.

Sri Lanka, sadly, has forgotten one of the Buddha’s most important teachings:

“Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it. Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many. Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books. Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders. Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations. But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it.”
― Gautama Buddha

If anyone insults you, pity them, for it is they who are deluded and sick inside. The Bodu Bala Sena and their teachings are a vile corruption of all that is precious about Buddhism. There are no Buddhists against you: there are only the pariahs, the dogs and vultures. We’re all human. We all bleed red. This country belongs to all of us and we will see it united, once again. We believe in Sri Lanka – not a Buddhist Ceylon, but a Sri Lanka that is home to everyone, regardless of race, religion or color.

Dear Yudhanjaya Wijeratne – We appreciate your reassurance to all of us. (Tamils, Muslims, Christians, Atheists and others) My observation from an vantage point is that the love and respect the Muslims have for all peace loving Buddhists are perpetual. The Buddhists have to take stock of themselves and find the root cause for these behaviours by their renegade Bhikkus. This got too addressed without any further delay. Very doubtful the politicians will find a solution.

I strongly believe Accountability to a Higher Power plays a major role in the Human psyche. Fear and Hope molds the Humans to care, to be responsible, to be honest, to be trustworthy, to respect each other and the environment. If we take away accountability we have ‘free for all’, do what we want without any consequences. This results is the Chaotic rules and the Devil takes control.

Our lives are not determined by what happens to us but by how we react to what happens, not by what life brings to us, but by the attitude we bring to life. A positive attitude causes a chain reaction of positive thoughts, events and outcomes. It is a catalyst, a spark that creates extraordinary results.

When you put the dots together you will note that BBS was created By MARA/GOAT/BARA combination to hand over the Governing of our country to them in case there’s a change in the Government.

All the hallmarks are to be seen similar to the creation of a Buddhist Taliban state in Sri Lanka supported my MARA/GOTA/BARA combination if there’s going to be a change in Government.

Fearing of a Foreign invasion and possible war crime charges, MARA brothers creating these BBS, Ravaya, Ravana etc, are all part of the strategy to hand over power to them to occoupy and rule Sri Lanka under Buddhist Taliban Racist state and bring the country to a total Chaos.

Every thing is clearly visible on the wall while threatening every body and every institution including the Parliament.

All these BBS, Ravaya, Ravana riots against Muslims, Christians and Sri Lanka Cricket team are all to check their strength and to check peoples, Parliament and police and Law makers reactions.

These are real Taliban Terrorists hiding behind the Yellow robes for Protection, from prosecution and for Public respect when thuggery vandalism, riots and Murder is carried out against Minority or any opposition against their ideology.

What is all the opposition parties are doing……..Nothing except sleeping and giving press interviews.

All opposition parties are silent thinking as long as these Buddhist terrorists hit only Muslim and Tamil Property they don’t need to worry……..But the day they are going to come after you also is not very far

BBS,Ravana, Ravaya, Gota’s army, Police, white van, Rakna Lanka and other underworld gangesters, thugs and marauding forces are all work hand in hand.

What is the ever sleeping Minister of Language Joker Vasi Deva doing is anybody’s guess.

Unless everybody unite and even get foreign help to stop this Buddhist Taliban Bas….ds, they will hammer everybody Left and right.

This is all MARA/GOTA brothers creation to threat and intimidate any opposition, Both Majority and Minority parties and minority religious organisations to suppress them using this Marauding Buddhist thugs.

I also feel that at this level, a foreign Invasion is the only solution.

These Buddhist Yellow Thug Bast…ds are well funden and fed By MARA/GOTA/BARA partnership to create trouble in the country.

Opposition Leader JR’s nephew crook RW is ever sleeping and pretending that he does not know anything. He is the Biggest Thakkadiya crook and Jonna in Sri Lanka’s history. He is the reason behind all of these for MARA to do these type of thuggary to our people. Isn’t there any body available in the UNP with a spine to kick this RW G.y Ponn…ya out from the UNP party….. He is the biggest liability to all of us.

I kindly request to all Patriot Sri Lankans to Act now to stop these Buddhist Racist Thugs to bringfurther suffering to everybody and mahe a stop- now than to regret later.

Thank you for a realistic view and opinion on the BBS and its foolish belief and the rash actions which is leading the peace loving multi -ethnic soceity towards hatred.
What they are creating now is a barbaric organisation with the help of miscreants and narrow minded people. There will come a time when they will robe ruffians in Bhuddist robes, a christians cloak, a muslims thobe and hindus vesti and make them attack the religous sentiments of these citizens, provoking the innocent who will not know the real clergy from the false, the innocent from the wrong doer.
THE GOVERNMENT WHICH HAS AND IS STEAM ROLLING ITS DICTATS IN THE OTHER SPEHERES OF LIFE,LAW AND ORDER, IS FAILING MISERABLE IN THIS ISSUE. I DONT NO WHY!
PLEASE NIP THIS AT ITS BUD.FAILING, WE ARE HEADING TOWARDS DISASTER.

This writer Wijeratne, who says Buddhism is ‘a pure philosophy that preaches nothing but tolerance and compassion’ try to project himself as a true Buddhist and accuse monks of BBS are ‘a gang of saffron-robed thugs.’ He says; “they aren’t monks for they incite hate, mass racism, and violence against the Muslim community of Sri Lanka.” Tell us Mr. Wijeratne; do you aim to reach ‘Nivana’ at this life? Otherwise, how can you act as if you are blind to Muslim ancestors cruel acts that I have described above and criticize precautionary measures BBS and the like are promoting.

As for most Sinhala Buddhists, it is obvious that they believe in ‘Samsara’ and as such, they aim to reach ‘Nivana’ at a latter life. So they want to retain their heritage. If all monks in Maha Vihara aimed for Nivana’ at this life, Sinhala Buddhist kingdoms would have ceased a long time back. If monks like Mahanama not aimed ‘Nivana’ at a latter life, he may not have compiled Mahawamsa and we would never have known Dutu Gemunu or Elara. If monks like Mohottewatte Gunananda hadn’t taken up the Christian haranguing of Buddhists at the latter part of the nineteenth century Olcott may not have heard of Sri Lanka. Gunananda Thero’s triumph at Panadura debate set the seal on a decade of quiet recovery of Buddhist confidence. If not for such monks this Wijeratne may well be a Christian today. Aim of BBS monks is the same.

Now, coming to the point, Wijeratne should know that destroying other religions is inbuilt in the gene pool of Muslims. The Quran contains at least 109 verses that call Muslims to war with nonbelievers for the sake of Islamic rule. There is just one conciliatory verse. Even that says only, ‘your religion is yours and mine is for me.’

Let’s see what has happened to Nalanda, one of the first residential universities in the world. Ii is said, it accommodated over 10,000 students and 2,000 teachers from far away places as Tibet, China, Greece, and Persia in its heyday. It was destroyed because Muhammad thought intolerant Godly codes to his followers. Koran 8:29 says – “And fight with them (unbelievers) until there is no more fitna (disorder, unbelief) and religion should be only for Allah.” Going by that in 1193 AD, a Turkish Muslim named Bakhtiyar Khilji and his army did exactly what Muhammad did in 624. They ransacked, burned and destroyed the monasteries at Nalanda and the monks ran away from the site. In his chronicle the Tabaqat-I-Nasiri, Persian historian named Minhaj-i-Siraj, reported that thousands of monks were burned alive and thousands beheaded as Khilji tried his best to uproot Buddhism. He wrote that the great library of Nalanda University was so vast that it had burned for three months after the invaders set fire to it.

Throughout the world, such barbaric acts by Muslims has been carrying on to the present day. Remember, just a few years back, Taliban had dynamited and destroyed ancient Buddha statues of Bamiyn, a UN declared world heritage. For one thing though, Taliban hadn’t played hide and seek games like commentators here. Its leader Mullah Mohammed Omar was honest; he said ‘it is not proper for idols to be among Muslims’ and ordered to dynamite it. Is Wijeratna telling us that Mullahs like M.M.Karim of Mutur who openly justified beheading of Rizana Nafeek saying Shariah is the law of God, will not follow that blind sheikh who was jailed in the US for 9/11 bombing and plot to destroy Ruwanwelli Saya one day. What more proof of extremists are here than the image in CT that Muslims with Bin Laden’s photo hailing his achievements.

BBS have identified the enemy that have openly ganged up against Sinhala Buddhists of late. They also have unmasked the enemy in the guise of ‘true’ Buddhists, democrats, egalitarians, Human Rights defenders, intellectuals etc. When ‘Pongu Thamil’ was in full swing, none of this lot had any bad word for it but the moment ‘Bodu Bala’ started its meetings to tell the Sinhala Buddhists the truth, it has become a devil. BBS is only trying their best to open eyes of Sinhala Buddhists for they should know what is Muslim ‘hallal’ and what is hallal for them. They should know that Sinhala Buddhist population remain under 70% whereas Muslims increase it from 7% to almost 10% in just 10 years. They must be educated where it may end. They should know what’s coming up against them and that their rights are being trampled upon. That is not racism or promoting violence for we have done it before.

Your kind usually hang’s out in lanka web. Lankan Muslims do not have the clout to intervene on behalf the Buddhists elsewhere as much as the Buddhists of Lanka; intervening on behalf the Muslims of Burma. Buddhism survived 2600 years built on its principles and its decline is faster with practice of the opposite.

The Law of Nature defines, the fear of survival turning into an obsession to survive by destructive means is a quicker way to extinction of a species.

Please go and hang out in the company of Wooduge and the dirty dozen at the most racial lanka web.

It is GREAT that CT has identified Leela has abused everything to be appologetic to the rulers.

I ask myself why senior ones like leela are trying to hang on criminals for such a long time: Leela s age should be around 70 years. What is the message she wants to pass to the folks ?

So this kind of info should be passed to many of his or her customers. No wonder a person of this kind could have abused huge amounts of funds of the innocient customers. He or she is trying to draw us a different picture – regardless of the topic that is being discussed on CT – but he or she should be absolute deceitful personality. Once she exposed to have studied in the UK – then again to have such incompetent housing authorities to fraud the poor customers – ?

My grand ma said to me once – every one of us learns if not now later. But I cant understand it yet when seeing at Leela and her ilk why they remain totally unchanged. Their brain cells we could have for DNA analyses – for the sake of better info for the benefit of masses (easily manipulative/guilible lanken villagers).

I have read about Leelaratne many times – said to be based on some where in Horana area – I believe his existence there should be almost comparable to an incurable viral disease.

Good luck to Horana area people – may them be saved from LEELA :)

Leela you are out of point. If we cannot live by Buddhist values in thought and deed we are not Buddhist. What is the point in preserving a so called ‘Buddhism’ without Buddhist values? This is what has happened to Buddhism during the past several centuries. It has become a religion of worship and ritual. It is beginning to follow the path of medieval times such as the crusades and the jihads. We have forgotten to live as the Buddha taught. So what truly are we trying to preserve? The statues and temples? The ancient historic sites? The teachings of the Buddha in manuscripts? For what purpose? For historical value? We have to live the Buddha’s teachings to preserve Buddhism; if not there is truly no Buddhism. Achieving Nirvana is a separate issue. How can one condone Buddhist priests being violent in word and action? Do they not practice meththa, mudhitha, karuna, upeksha….? Would you have accepted Buddhism if you saw the Buddha going about throwing stones and abusing people? Would you? I think you should know by now that the true Buddhists are being patient in the wake of their religion being insulted by thugs in robes. True Buddhists are also human trying desperately to hold on to their Buddhist values despite great provocation and the gradual destruction of their teaching by ignorant followers. So when some writers defend the truth, do not attempt to redicule them. We all know who is right and who is wrong.

        Wickramasiri,
It is obvious that Colombian Buddhists or Alcott Buddhists are agents of the west. Anagarika Dharmapala had written it so eloquently in his diary in 1931. He wrote; “keep in mind, some day the white man would leave this country. But they would leave only after breeding some thirty to forty thousand whitened blacks that are much like their children. After that, those whitened blacks would rule our country. They would hate Sinhala language and customs. They would teach your children that there should not be ethnic and religious distinction….” How true his prediction has come true this quick.

Now, since you wrote about the subject of ‘what has happened to Buddhism during the past several centuries’ I must write a bit but the truth about it for everyone to know it. I have touched briefly about haranguing of Buddhists by Christians at the latter part of the nineteenth century and Buddhist response for it. To learn about what had happened before that, I mean during the Portuguese, you must read the book titled ‘Christianity in Ceylon’ (1850) by Sir James Emerson Tennent. Tennant an Irish politician and traveller was knighted and appointed colonial secretary of Ceylon in 1845, where he remained till 1850. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society on 5 June 1862. He had written aptly about Portuguese sojourn. In short, he says; “there is no page in the story of European colonization more gloomy and repulsive than that which recounts the proceedings of the Portuguese in Ceylon.”

To learn about Buddhism after the Portuguese, you’ll can read a book named ‘Buddhism in Ceylon under the Christian powers’ by Professor Tennakoon Wimalananda. He says that all colonial governments in Sri Lanka had promoted apostasy. With ample statistics, the book shows how Christian education was uplifted with lavish subsides while Buddhist Pirivena monasteries were deprived of it. It also pointed out; the manner that evangelists coerce the British rulers to withdraw all subsidies due to Buddhist monasteries under submission agreement with the sole aim of ruining Sinhala culture. It was under such circumstances that ‘Pandura Wadaya’ started to set about.

If Mohottewatte Gunananda and the like who took part in those debates stick to ‘meththa, mudhitha, karuna, upeksha’ or meditate in a remote monasteries (as you want monks to do today) and not taken part in ‘Panadura Wadaya’ where Christians and Buddhists debated openly about their belief in 1870s, there would never have been a Buddhist revival. Ven Ganananda’s biography says he was to become Christian priest in his early life. If not for Ven Gunananda and others taken to confront Christians at the time Alcott may never have come to know of Buddhism and certainly he would not have come to ‘Ceylon’.

As of today, we have a section of the monks, the likes of Ven Sobitha, Amila, Samitha and a few others who talk of ‘all religions are the same’. How could Buddhism be the same as ‘One God’ religions, I am puzzled. Then there are others like BBS, JHU, SR and the like who insists on following ‘Maha Vihara’ tradition. If they can have their point of view, so can the others. Let the Sinhala Buddhists decide who they want to accept. It is clear that Sinhala Buddhists accept monks of different qualities. This is of no surprise for during Buddha’s time when Monk Devadatta wanted all monks to live jungles, beg for their food and etc and follow extreme life examples, the Buddha had said those who want to follow it are free to do. Others can follow normal Vinaya rules. Therefore, we do not expect all our monks to spend all their life meditating in remote monasteries. We want some of them to lead struggles for and behalf of Sinhala Buddhists as many a monk have done through out our history.

Wickramasiri, find some old Sinhala books or leaflets or try read through internet and learn what made Ven Mohottewatte Gunananda and others to confront Christians in 1873. The situation is not much different today, only Muslims have become the majority of minorities and leaned to Wahhabism and follow Salafi-Jihadists of Bin Laden type to go to their heaven. And the yester year Christians activities have been replaced by born again Evangelists who are all out to convert Buddhists.

I have visited several BBS rallies. I see Sinhala Buddhist majority by far want monks with charisma and guts to follow Ven Mohottewatte Gunananda and others did in 1873.

Sorry Leela I cannot agree with you. I am not defending Christianity, Islam or any other religion. I am not defending the English speakers. I am defending Buddhism. The BBS and it’s actions cannot be that of Buddhists. Since you have attended BBS events you would have seen the violent behaviour and anger expressed by the priests. Their behaviour is totally against the Buddha’s teaching.I cannot be like that, may be you can. The BBS action in breaking in to shops and homes is against the Buddha’s teaching. I cannot be like that but may be you can. To me Buddhism is pristine pure and non violent. There were violent religious sects like the BBS even during the Buddha’s day and you know how calmly and non violently he responded. That is sufficient example for me. The BBS actions will preserve a type of Buddhism totally different to what the Buddha taught. It will be no different to other religions. Do not look at history. Do not look at the future. Look at the present. I want no part of a violent religion. I only want what the Buddha taught. You are free to go after an illusion.

We love Budhism and the genunine followers of this Nobel faith. We lived with them for over 1000 years! . We respect the genunine monks. We want LOARD Buddah’S teachings to be followed upto the letter in this country. Then everyone will be happy. Close the wine stores, Casinos, Brothel houses, stop killings, not only animals but also human, stop indecent behaviors of monks such as drinking alchahol, eating meat, keepingwomen, abusing children etc, etc,

Teach the BUDHIST children, you next generation, LOARD BUDHA’S noble teachings. Teach them what is KARUNA and maithree, teach them to respect elders. Do not allow them to mix with the fake, drunken (BBS) monks. Dear BUDHIST Brothers, we would like to see you all as REAL BUDHISTS! This is our dream.

My dear I, no point in getting exited about your population. I have a very simple idea. If all these monks can marry tomorrow, few of whom are keeping women secretly, next year you could increase your population at least by another ONE million. Within 10 years it will be 10 MILLION! If the monks can marry in Japan, Thailand, Cambodia etc, why can’t here? Do not blame others. Do not waste a man’s life without a wife of if they wish more than one.

          Lester,
DBSJ stopped publishing my comments for one reason: He just could not stomach when I proved that one of his articles disseminated untruth. There was no other rift. You see, we all knew that DBSJ is committed to promote ‘the demand by separatists for Eelam will die down with a Federal offer.’ That may be true for any other people anywhere in the world but not for Tamils. That’s our stand. This is what had happened in short.

To prove his point, DBSJ had written article on various theme. In one of those articles, he has interpreted Madras state election results wrongly to back his favourite theme. He wrote devolution of power in India has weakened separatism. In fact, he wrote that numbers of elected members that supported separatism have gone down in Madras state at 1962 elections than the previous one. That is totally untrue.

When I mentioned in one of my comments that DMK contested Madras state elections in 1962 on a separatist ticket and increased their members at the state assembly that section of my comments disappeared. He didn’t like my writing that repeatedly said, Tamils demanded separation from India in spite of Police and Land powers were given to them. But comments on other subjects continued to appear. But he developed a personal dislike to me and my ideological stand. I couldn’t do much for it is his website and he is the moderator. So, I wrote this matter in detail in articles and comments to lankaweb and e-mail him a copy. That’s the end of the story.

            @Leela,

DBSJ was against the LTTE because they broke one of his legs, at least that is my understanding. Whether or not he was for a federal solution, I cannot recall, although the number of articles he collected from around the web to put on his trash bin of a website, would imply the affirmative. What I know for sure is that he is a dishonest individual. One time I told him it was too bad the LTTE didn’t break his other leg; he edited the comment by actually inserting words I never used. I can recall him inserting words on another occassion as well. Another time he accused me of being a Tamil masquerading as a Sinhalese. He would constantly argue with people on the comments section under the heading “DBSJ responds.” A journalist who cannot distance himself from readers is a very poor journalist (if at all a journalist) and should not practice journalism.

Why DBS break your heart, did you say bad things to upset him. be nishe to youself, then all will be nishe to you,

How can one believe a coward who tries to hijack someone else’s nom de plume. Where is Leelananda’s credibility. Is this not proof that he has all the credentials of an inveterate and compulsive liar? Not only a liar but an unrepentant racist spewing lies particularly on Islam by quoting verses out of context without any explanation of any historical references. The basic question is can a religion based on such distorted lies survive for so long and growing in such large numbers that make Leela’s knees to shake and rattle? Can such a religion earn the plaudits of a host of the Worlds leading non Muslims? Are all these sages out of their mind as Leela suggests? Shame Leela Shame on you!,

Maybe Leela is giving the truth, but you are unable to absorb it. Are you going to put a fatwa on Leela, like you did on Salman Rushdie?

          Lester,
During and after the last Presidential election, I wrote a lot of comment to ‘The Leader’ on matters of politics as well as religion under the name Leela. Lot of Christians didn’t like my exposing their religion but their abhorrence was limited to written arguments. It was the same with Tamils. But that wasn’t the case with some Muslims. They despised my exposing the truth about their religion and the prophet. They openly threatened to attack me. Through their comments, they wrote that they know how to find my address and they would know what to do with me. When I told them that I should inform the defence ministry, they left me alone. I am sure, one can read them through archives. Imagine these guys become the majority community. Intolerance has bread into their genes.

It is just your comments contain more to disgrace muslims and their principles. I simply know anyone here who would say that Leela adds facts.

What is the purpose of your comments – if they cant help anyone on this or other threads.

Millions were contra the manner they the rulers handled the impeachment process against Dr. SB, but you -Leelo found all the stuff – consituational. That alone proved how healthy your mindset has been :((

            @Leela,

Christianity used to be the most intolerant religion, but Islam has been ahead of the pack for a long time now. There is no such thing as “moderate Islam”, with the exception of a few Shia nations like Iran and Assad’s Syria. Amazing that people in the 21st century – with access to a wide variety of views and the latest technology – can be obsessed over a single book and a single Prophet, but that is the way things are. I am not particularly fond of BBS, but hopefully the average Sinhalese will at least become more sensitive to the true meaning of Islam, and protect their communities accordingly.

Not only you, but also the Danish cartoon guy. You can read about it here: http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2010/jan/04/danish-cartoonist-axe-attack

They went after him with an axe. That is the way with these people. When they want to kill, not even a tsunami can stop them. I tell people not to be surprised; they are just following the example of their leader (PBUH).

              @Leela/Lester
actually these misguided fanatics need not have gone with an axe. See what happened to Mr. Arnoud Van Doorn. Mr.Wilders must have choked on his lunch time pie as reported by the AMSTERDAM based – Doğan News Agency

Not to forget rattling the “counterjihadists,” and no doubt Geert Wilders will have been mightily shaken, as everything he stands for has been undermined by an individual who used to be a close confidante.
AMSTERDAM – A leading member in far-right Dutch politician Geert Wilders’ party has reverted to Islam after an extensive study about the Islamic religion and Muslims.
“I can understand people are sceptic, especially that it is unexpected for many of them,” Arnoud Van Doorn told Al-Jazeera English satellite channel.
“This is a very big decision, which I have not taken lightly.”
The news about Doorn’s reversion first came to the surface last month when he tweeted “new beginning”.
He later posted a tweet in Arab pronouncing the Shahadah (proclamation of faith).

To tell you all silly guys the truth, I am 70 in three years time and all I want to do at my age is to let others know what I see as right and true. I have commented on the article point by point for which none of you guys have any specific answers. To cover-up your lack of knowledge, or ignorance or the rot you are in, you chose to attack me personally. If you are intelligent and do not agree with me could have pin pointed where I am wrong and corrected it and/or rejected it.

I made no secret where I live and even the famous clubs that I visit where I am a life member. So, ridicule me and/or attack me personally through pseudonym is nothing but cowardice on your part. Asking me to stick to lankweb and accuse me for being ‘apologetic to the rulers’ under undercover names is hypocrisy or absurd to say the least. To be honest, person named Lallo must check what has he being smoking of late. Jamal says Kath Nobles has a pen name but when I use one, he doesn’t like it. I can fathom your mentality.

To tell you the truth,I have not read anywhere – that a single commentator supports your views on this forum – except few comments with added some references to prove your contents.

Could be some in BBS are not that fanatic – but the hamuduruwo who leads that movement should rather learn to speak civilized sinhala- as you know we the lankens would not respect MERVIN´s langauge. And his violent behavioiurs should be changed for the sake of all most respected monks in the island. We dont want many more of Mervin to be emerged in the country. That should be clear to you. Needless to say more just do some search on the web- how many of the lankens hate Mervin and Wimalweerawanse just for their unique filthy langauge.

I dont think that these readers are silly – even if the percentages that critically discuss the articles on CT are significantly less – I am quiet confident the masses will join them soon. Innocent people are brainwashed to some extent no other views could help them – but rulers will not be able to fool them forever.

      Hay Leela,

We love Buddhism. But mad at some crazy idiots calling them selves Sinhala Buddhist BBS who hijacked Lord Buddha’s preachings.

First lord Buddha never said that he is a God, but said that God will come to earth after him.

Prince siddhartha left all his worldly possessions including his wife and children and his palace after seen the suffering of the people to seek peace and happiness.

If so what these BBS doing breaking into other peoples properties and claiming more land as their Temple “Nidan vastu” property.

This is not Buddhism, but extreme Greedism, Thieveism, and Politicism.

This is worse than extreme Capitalism, Narcissism, greedism and egoism.

      JUST FOR YOUR RECORDS.

Did you know that Buddhists are waiting for the Maithree Buddha. We Muslims believe that the Maithree they are waiting for has come and gone in the form of Prophet Muhammed (BOh). They are still waiting.

Buddha was silent on the question of God. Whenever asked about God, he kept silent. This does not mean that he did not believe in God, he was silent because the people were so deeply rooted in idol worship (330,000,000 gods) that he felt it best to concentrate on character improvement.

          Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) in Buddhism

          A) Almost all Buddhist books contain this prophecy. It is in Chakkavatti Sinhnad Suttanta D. III, 76:
“There will arise in the world a Buddha named Maitreya (the benevolent one) a holy one, a supreme one, an enlightened one, endowed with wisdom in conduct, auspicious, knowing the universe:

“What he has realized by his own supernatural knowledge he will publish to this universe. He will preach his religion, glorious in its origin, glorious at its climax, glorious at the goal, in the spirit and the letter. He will proclaim a religious life, wholly perfect and thoroughly pure; even as I now preach my religion and a like life do proclaim. He will keep up the society of monks numbering many thousands, even as now I keep up a society of monks numbering many hundreds“.

          B)
According to Sacred Books of the East volume 35 pg. 225:

“It is said that I am not an only Buddha upon whom the leadership and order is dependent. After me another Buddha maitreya of such and such virtues will come. I am now the leader of hundreds, he will be the leader of thousands.”

          C)
According to the Gospel of Buddha by Carus pg. 217 and 218 (From Ceylon sources):

“Ananda said to the Blessed One, ‘Who shall teach us when thou art gone?’

And the Blessed one replied, ‘I am not the first Buddha who came upon the earth nor shall I be the last. In due time another Buddha will arise in the world, a holy one, a supremely enlightened one, endowed with wisdom in conduct, auspicious, knowing the universe, an incomparable leader of men, a master of angels and mortals. He will reveal to you the same eternal truths, which I have taught you. He will preach his religion, glorious in its origin, glorious at the climax and glorious at the goal. He will proclaim a religious life, wholly perfect and pure such as I now proclaim. His disciples will number many thousands while mine number many hundreds.’

Ananda said, ‘How shall we know him?’

The Blessed one replied, ‘He will be known as Maitreya‘.”

          (i)
The Sanskrit word ‘Maitreya’ or its equivalent in Pali ‘Metteyya’ means loving, compassionate, merciful and benevolent. It also means kindness and friendliness, sympathy, etc. One Arabic word which is equivalent to all these words is ‘Rahmat’. In Surah Al-Anbiya:

“I sent thee not, but as a mercy for all creatures.”
          [Al-Qur’an 21:107]

Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was called the merciful, which is ‘Maitri’.

The Word Muhammad is also spelt as ‘Mahamet’ or ‘Mahomet’ and in various other ways in different languages. The word ‘Maho’ or ‘Maha’ in Pali and Sanskrit mean Great and Illustrious and ‘Metta’ means mercy. Therefore ‘Mahomet’ means ‘Great Mercy’.

Buddha’s doctrine was Esoteric and Exoteric:

According to Sacred Books of the East, volume 11, pg. 36 Maha-Parinibbana Sutta chapter 2 verse 32:

“I have preached the truth without making any distinction between exoteric and esoteric doctrine, for in respect of truths, Ananda, the Tathagata has no such thing as the closed fist of a teacher, who keeps something back“.

Muhammad (pbuh) on the commandment of Almighty God delivered the message and doctrine without making any distinction between esoteric and exoteric. The Qur’an was recited in public in the days of the Prophet and is being done so till date. The Prophet had strictly forbidden the Muslims from hiding the doctrine.

          3.
          Devoted Servitors of the Buddhas:

According to Sacred Books of the East volume 11 pg. 97 Maha-Parinibbana Sutta Chapter 5 verse 36:

“Then the Blessed one addressed the brethren, and said, ‘Whosoever, brethren have been Arahat-Buddhas through the long ages of the past, they were servitors just as devoted to those Blessed ones as Ananda has been to me. And whosoever brethren shall be the Arahat-Buddhas of the future, there shall be servitors as devoted to those Blessed ones as Ananda has been to me’.”

The Servitor of Buddha was Ananda. Muhammad (pbuh) also had a servitor by the name Anas (r.a.) who was the son of Malik. Anas (r.a…) was presented to the Prophet by his parents. Anas (r.a…) relates: “My mother said to him, ‘Oh Messenger of God, here is your little servant’.” Further Anas relates, “I served him from the time I was 8 years old and the Prophet called me his son and his little beloved“. Anas (r.a…) stayed by the Prophet in peace and in war, in safety as well as in danger till the end of his life.

          i)
Anas (r.a.), even though he was only 11 years old stayed beside the Prophet during the battle of Uhud where the Prophet’s life was in great danger.

          ii)
Even during the battle of Honain when the Prophet was surrounded by the enemies who were archers, Anas (r.a…) who was only 16 years old stood by the Prophet.

Anas (R) can surely be compared with Ananda who stood by Gautam Buddha when the mad elephant approached him.

          4.
          Six Criteria for Identifying Buddha:

According to the Gospel of Buddha by Carus pg. 214:

“The Blessed one said, ‘There are two occasions on which a Tathagata’s appearance becomes clear and exceedingly bright. In the night Ananda, in which a Tathagata attains to the supreme and perfect insight, and in the night in which he passes finally away in that ultra passing which leaves nothing whatever of his earthly existence to remain.’ “

According to Gautam Buddha, following are the six criteria for identifying a Buddha.

          i)
A Buddha attains supreme and perfect insight at night-time.

          ii)
On the occasion of his complete enlightenment he looks exceedingly bright

          iii)
A Buddha dies a natural death.

          iv)
          He dies at night-time.

          v)
He looks exceedingly bright before his death.

          vi)
After his death a Buddha ceases to exist on earth.

          i) Muhammad (pbuh) attained supreme insight and Prophethood at night-time.

          According to Surah Dukhan:

“By the books that makes thing clear – I sent it down during a blessed night.”
          [Al-Qur’an 44:2-3]

          According to Surah Al-Qadar:

“I have indeed revealed this (message) in the night of power.”
          [Al-Qur’an 97:1]

          ii)
Muhammad (pbuh) instantly felt his understanding illumined with celestial light.

          iii)
Muhammad (pbuh) died a natural death.

          iv)
According to Ayesha (r.a.), Muhammad (pbuh) expired at night-time. When he was dying there was no oil in the lamp and his wife Ayesha (r.a.) had to borrow oil for the lamp.

          v)
According to Anas (r.a.), Muhammad (pbuh) looked exceedingly bright in the night of his death.

          vi)
After the burial of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) he was never seen again in his bodily form on this earth.

          5.
          Buddhas are only Preachers:

According to Dhammapada, Sacred Books of East volume 10 pg., 67:

“The Jathagatas (Buddhas) are only Preachers.”

The Qur’an says in Surah Ghashiya:
“Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. Thou art not one to manage (men’s) affairs.”
          [Al-Qur’an 88:21-22]

The man (last Prophet) promised by Buddha is none other than Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

Buddhists often quote a verse to prove that Prophet Muhammad (s) is not the Maitreya.

They quote Cakkavatti-Sihanada Sutta (DN 26; The Lion’s Roar on the Turning of the Wheel)

And in that time of the people with an eighty-thousand-year life-span, there will arise in the world a Blessed Lord, an arahant fully enlightened Buddha named Metteyya, endowed with wisdom and conduct, a Well-farer, Knower of the worlds, incomparable Trainer of men to be tamed, Teacher of gods and humans, enlightened and blessed, just as I am now.

The idea of 80,000 years is in the following book:
          Cakkavatti-Sihanada Sutta

This is a Sri Lankan book, it is about philospohies and is not a valid book. Buddha did not live in Sri Lanka. Many of the philosophies in this book are questioned by people for their authenticity and validity.

If you read this book, you will see that it is not even written by Buddha or dictated by Buddha or even taught by Buddha. This is a story and not even a prophecy. If you can show such words coming out from the mouth of Buddha, I will accept them.

Buddhists claim that Islam and Buddhism are totally against each other in their teachings. They claim that Buddhism is an athiestic religion, there is a concept of rebirth etc which is nowhere to be found in Islam.

The truth is that Buddhism is a God believing religion. Tibetan, Sri Lankan and other Buddhists believe in many gods and godesses. They atleast believe in a higher being. Buddha was a God believer and he said that the soul is unknown and unseen. He didn’t deny it and his statements shows that he believed in the soul.

The Western athiests have hijacked this religion and made it into a completely God hating religion.

You are just playing with language and interpretation. A religion is reflected by its followers. How the Sri Lankan Buddist have behaved over the years. How they have reacted when atrocities were committed How brutal they were. How they the monks didn’t speak out when thousand were mercilessly murdered. etc etc are all there for us to see. That reflects the religion. It has failed miserably to mould a nation into a nation of civilized cultured moral people. That is what Sri Lankan Buddism is

            Marwan,
For Muslims Allah or the God that Abraham first met, is the only God that exist. For Buddhists, there is no mention of a Creator God in Tripitaka. However, there are few references that Buddha had not admitted the existence of Creator or form or force.

In Anguttara Nikaya there mentioned three divergent views at Buddha’s time.

            1) Person experience pain or feelings due to the creation of a Supreme Deity. In Majjhima Nikaya sutta no 101, Buddha had critisized this fatalistic view saying “Is it that people become murdererers, thieves liers, etc due to creation of a Supreme Deity?

            2) Pain and happiness is the result of God’s creation. In Devadaha Sutta, Digha Nikaya, Referring to the self-mortification of naked ascetics, Buddha asked “Oh Bhikkhu, being experiencing pain and happiness is the result of God’s creation then certainly these naked ascetics must have been created by a wicked God since they suffer terrible pain.

            3) Tracing the origin of Maha Brahma, the so-called creator God. In Buridtta Jataka Buuha questioned the divined justice of the creator.

It is obvious then Buddha had not subscribed to existence of a creator God.

There are 56 books in Tripitaka. And each book has over 500 pages. The Jataka book has 638 pages. So whenever you wanted to quote as Buddha said, quote from Tripitaka and not heresy stories. What you have quoted are not from Tripitaka. There is no ‘Chakkavatti Sinhnad Suttanta’. If you are talking about ‘chakkavatti- sihanada sutta’ copy and paste it and google it, you can read many presentations but read an authentic one; not one from Dr Shakier Naik. You can read a one from a Major General, my classmate but now a monk.

How could Prophet Muhammad be Maithree Buddha? Muhammad had declared him to be the ‘perfect example’ for mankind. But look at his action. He accorded him with special privilege, unwavering obedience, wealth and earthly desires, including all of the slaves and women that his lust could handle. His Koran contains at least 109 verses that call Muslims to war with nonbelievers for the sake of Islamic rule. He called Muslims who do not join the fight ‘hypocrites’ and warned that Allah will send them to hell if they do not join the slaughter. He allowed beating wives if they do not do as they were told. He married a 9-year-old girl when he was 52 years old and even married his adopted son’s wife. Those cannot be the nature, personality and the trait of a Buddha.

If it were not possible to abandon what is unskillful, I would not say to you, ‘Abandon what is unskillful.’ But because it is possible to abandon what is unskillful, I say to you, ‘Abandon what is unskillful.’ If this abandoning of what is unskillful were conducive to harm and pain, I would not say to you, ‘Abandon what is unskillful.’ But because this abandoning of what is unskillful is conducive to benefit and pleasure, I say to you, ‘Abandon what is unskillful.’

Please let me know what you understand by the following statement of Lord Buddha:

“It is hard to realize the essential, the truth is not easily perceived; desire is mastered by him who knows, and to him who sees aright all things are naught. There is, O monks, an unborn, unoriginated, uncreated, unformed. Were there not, O monks, this unborn, unoriginated, uncreated, unformed, there would be no escape from the world of the born, originated, created, formed. Since, O monks, there is an unborn, unoriginated, uncreated and unformed, therefore is there an escape from the born, originated, created, formed.”

Buddhism is not a religion. If you would really like to know what it is, you have to understand and practice it. Then you will come to know what the symbolism etc is about. The “higher being” that you talk about is a pure state of mind that the Buddhist mind works towards, by practising the dhamma. Better not mix these systems of belief since they are incongruent. The “higher being” that you talk about is a pure state of mind that the Buddhist mind works towards, by practising the dhamma. Better not mix these systems of belief since they are incongruent. Lets just respect our right to worship or believe whatever it is that we have chosen to believe, and leave it at that.

I think Leela is Dr. DW, the lay spokesperson of BBS. BBS ideas mirror those of Leela’s. Leela has claimed to have a Doctorate- Dr. DW has one.

Dr. DW is internet savvy; so is Leela

Leela knows lots about the Norwegians; Dr. DW is very pally with the Norwegians.

Also some of the information used by BBS on platforms is often the same stuff that Leela spews out on CT. Such as Wahabism and Sufism and Militant Islam

The likeness is stark. Let him deny it if he can :)

There is no Samsara or Nirvana for a group of people that have historically glorified racial chauvinism and genocide. Vijaya was no noble man, he was a criminal exiled from his fatherland.

      • 0
        0

What about Ashoka? This is only for Leela: do you think that Some one going to jungle to live with animals leaving his loved ones alone, without bothering what will happen to them and also without worrying about their feelings to attain nirvana is fair? Leela, do you know that Siddartha is a Hindu born to Hindu parents and he never preached anything apart from Hindu philosophy . Read the history of Budhism properly, there you will find how the religion was spread. How many killings ? To you, your mother is great and to me my mother is great! If you respect your mother, you will surely respect other mothers as well. If a person is not sure of his mother then, we can’t expect him to respect mothers at all. This is same with the religious feelings.

Many Sri lanakans as well as foreigners call the sri lankan buddhist monks as “thugs”. NO IT IS NOT TRUE. There are some very good buddhist monks that I know. All these very good buddhist monks live in one place. Yes,, in one place and EXCEPT this ONE place, you cannot find them in other places and THAT PLACE IS…… yeah “SINHALA TELEDRAMA”.
All the other buddhist monks, elsewhere in the country are in a mission to brand ‘buddhism’ A RELIGION OF VIOLENCE.

We know huge majority of Buddhist monks are well disciplined. We have respect for them and we will never undervalue the Buddhism or it’s principles just because of this few number of robed thugs. But, few corrupt people dominate the world because of the silence of majority good people. Sri-Lanka too needs people like you to voice the truths. Hats off my friend.

So, you have chosen who is ‘well disciplined’ Buddhist monks and who are robed thugs for us.

Just like you deciding for us who is a militant Muslim and who is a moderate Muslim :)

Thanks to the author for making a start in dispelling the lies which BBS has spread about muslims. It is a sad state of affairs, as countless gullible folks have just taken everything they say on face value because of the robe. The damage BBS has done to the trust and relationship between the 2 communities is immense and almost irreparable.

    Very true,
People behind this are not Buddhist and do not have a clue about what Buddha preached.
These saffron –robed thugs who are trying create racial disharmony around community.
The thugs who are controlling the power of this country keeping blind eye on these event rate than banning these extreme organisation.
There is only one religion in the world history that did not fight a war in the name of the religion. That is Buddhism.
The action by these thugs will change the history of the world.

ANYWAY THE VINAYA STIPULATES THAT A BUDDHIST MONK IS NOT PERMITTED TO INDULGE IN THESE ACTIVITIES.

OVER TO YOU MOST REVEREND MAHANAYAKES…… IF YOUR SILENT SOON AND VERY SOON SRI LANKA WILL NOT BE A BUDDHIST COUNTRY.

These BBS monks claim that we Muslims who own factories switch off the Aircon and lights and lock up for two hours when going for Friday prayers, leaving the Sinhala employees scooped up in pes with nothing to do. What fabricated lies. The truth is far from it. I don’t know of any Muslim who would do that, as employees are considered most valuable assets in any establishment. Of course it is true that Muslims are advised not to transact business, but to give higher preference to their religious observations during the time of the Friday prayers. But that said, no one enforces it on their non-Muslim employes.

Another canard was that they (Muslims) spit on the food they serve to their non-Muslim customers at the Muslim eating houses. It sounds just so despicable that anyone (Buddhist monks in this case) could stoop to such low levels just to get a point across, ‘don’t patronize Muslim eating houses.’ Their intent being to break them economically.

Serving sweets (and that too Uswatte) to reduce fertility in men or women, with a view to terminate procreation. Unbelievable stuff. Normal people don’t think like that. It has to come from those who have gone off the rails.

Eating halal being a form of Islamization of those who eat that food was another one.

Anyone knows of any more of those horrendous claims. Like to hear.

Both Marwan, Leela, Jaliya Wickremasinghe and others.

Just to give you all some heads up……..My Brother in-law after thirty years in Business as a distributer for a leading Frozen food company had to give up his business due to constant increasing Taxes by the Government and unable to bare higher electricity rates.

He say even to go to Toilet he has to watch the workers as five minutes is enough to get some packets go missing. You all know the margins are very small in his business and loosing few packets will be a loss for his Trade. Even when he goes home for lunch, he has to close the shop and go.

Also Electricity has almost become like GOLD now and many retailers are reluctant to stock his items like before due to their limited freezer capacity.

So Finally he decided to close dow his business with over 20 workers loosing jobs after 30 years in Business.

Therefore even Fashion Bug shut off the AC for two hours, and may be using a fan doed not make much difference for the employees.

First even when you shut off the AC….the cold Air still circulate for some time, until the owners return 2 hours after prayers.

Second it is the Government that say to Maximise usingg electricity, and shutting AC actually help Government and the Electricity department.

The Third is During last year GOSL spent 50 Billion Rupees (50,000 Million Rupees) as Farm Subsidies, incentives and Fertilizer at lower rate and sfter given this subsidy, still the agriculture products are expensive as ever in today’s market.

Also Most of the Divineguma 85 Billion Rupees went for agriculture.

My question is when you divide 50,000 million by 20 million Population, it comes for each citizen GOSL spends 2.5 million rupees for agriculture products alone……and my question is where all these money went when farmers are finding difficult to survive as the consumers, with all these massive incentives given to farmers.

Therefore my question is after GOSL spending 2.5 Million Farm subsidy per each citizen what benefit Did the farmers as well as the consumers got.

My final question is when Govt. does not apply taxes on vegetables…..how come it keeps on adding more taxes on all other manufactured products while giving no incentives at all to those manufacturers.

Infact of giving incentives to industry and other small time businesses like for farmers,GOSL keeps on increasing taxes on them and thereby making those large and small industry, wholesalers, retailers etc, close down their businesses.

That’s why we should have a Professional and farsighted Government, and not to talk about shutting off AC in Fashion bug and No limit outlets for 2 hours.

Can understand how you feel, Marwan. I am really very sorry about all these trumped up charges. So sorry for you, for us, for Sri Lanka and her people, and above all, for the Buddha… because Buddhism, the real Buddhism, is pristine and beautiful. These monks and their supporters are turning it into a farce.

In the history of Srilankan retail business,NOLIMIT
revolutionized the industry by expanding in such a
short span of time covering big, commercially viable
all cities across the island breaking backbones of
racist elements operating in many cities. Some Sinhalese
retailers didn’t tolerate Muslim businesses in certain
areas since very long and a very good example is Kiribathgoda.
But the names of NOLIMIT and FASHION BUG got so popular
being pioneers in becoming corporate retail chains, ideally
found their way into normally “no go” areas.Ordinary Sinhalese
citizens love this development because it saves them travel
and money. But corrupt and rotten head to toe politicians and
many racist monks who have nothing to lose, couldn’t stand this.
Why? simple answer.”Dog in the manger.”

Well done Brother… Respect.. Someone finally speaks the truth..
I know every race has few bad eggs. And its a shame that few bad eggs reflect the majority of Sinhalese people which isn’t true…
Thats said.. How are we allowing monks behave like this.. I cant understand are they allowed to behave like this… I have so much respect.. and admire there pacifist ways.. but wow…this is unbelievable..

    Theruwan Saranai Yudhanjaya…

I am very happy with an eyeopening piece by a youth from a Sinhala Buddhist family like me.

You see in a TV talk show on TNL once Dilantha Withanage (who one ruined to whole education ministry as the IT Consultant, being a stooge of Dr. Thara de Mel.) said “when we walk into any restaurant it looks like as if we are in an Arabic nation where at the entrance itself Hala Logo displayed – and fear of clear Islamisation is on”

After BBS Thugs action against Halal – it is very pathetic to see in almost all leading temples Halal logo is displayed (with a cross but a kuran’s word Halal is still visible”) instead of Pnasil or Bana Pada.

All monks in temples do not observe SILL instead they talk of Halal and Islam as a consequent an aunt of mine has decided not go to the temple anymore but to observe sill at home to avoid being distracted by the monks…. what a blessing ??????

You walk across streets of any major town posters and banners displaying Halal logo in every looks and corner

What was limited as tiny dot on certified food product packs and doors of restaurants has now in come to temple premisses and streets.Monks instead of reciting Gatha are now pronouncing Halal, Kuran etc..

How many meetings and talks shows/ debates we have seen with the participation of BBS Thug Monks they do not start any of those programmes with Gatha, Pansil or Budhu Wadan (Buddha’s preachings)- but talk of Halal and the worst is Gnanasara carres a Kuran and recites that on stages.

A friend of mine who was prompted to learn about Halal has now converted to Islam, for security reasons he has not changed his name or given publicity, this is the only case I know, surely there will be hundreds of similar cases – Thanks to BBS.

The West while finding these thugs is publishing pictures of our monks’ violent scenes in News Week to defame and disgrace Buddhism.

    Now tell me:
WHO IS ENDANGERING Buddhism? It is only these drunken thugs of BBS who are after Dollars.

The prelates and the guarding of the constitution the President (HE Rasjapakse) must come forward and de-robe these thugs who are ruining the noble religion and disgracing our Sinhala community around the world.

An Excellent article and an eye opener to all.
History has proved that to leave peace and reconciliation in the hands of Politicians and the Clergy is a waste of time .The more unrest that the civilian population experiences, the more power these so called servants of the people will wield.
While the 83 Riots had its barbaric downside it also had its silver lining in the number of our Sinhala brethren who at great risk to their own lives came forward to protect those targetted. The only way towards that desirable objective is for those same humane practising Buddhists of the majority community to rise as one and say enough is enough…..let this country be equally FOR ALL SRI LANKANS.
Surely the time for playing brutal games with Ethnicity is now a thing of the past ?
Just sit back and reflect on who the beneficiaries of all that unrest have been ???? Should not this be the begining of an Era For ALL SRI LANKANS ? SS

It is Lord Buddha’s One of Five Main rules that tell Buddhist devotees to abstain from, …….”MUSAWADA THERAMANI SIKKA VADAN SAMADIYANI”

What this means is to stay away from spreading false rumors, lies, false propaganda, and false witness.

Also this same being preached by all other Religious, Prophets, Gods and Messangers.

So why this BBS, Rawaya and Ravana…..spreading false propaganda saying Fashion Bug giving Candy coated with substance that curb pregnancy, while using this rumor to arouse Peoples uprising against Muslims to vandalise their stores.

Remember it was 500 years ago when Natives saw Portuguese eating Bread and drinking wine, went and told then king that the Portuguese white canibals are eating white stones and drinking human Blood.

This was the state then and now of the mind set of our uneducated and uncultured mutts who have penetrated both into Politics and Buddha sasana as Monk….ies.

Ever since we got Independence Both Buddhist Sinhala Politicians using Sasana as a bait to dupe our public……

For instance……it was British who united our country under one flag, whereas before British came most of the island was under different Indian Kings ruling different parts.

But now Sinhala Political Crooks Bash British as the culprits who ruined our country. What an uneducated Jokers they are. Which side of the moon their Handa Hava playing computer gilmart….drinking Kasippu.

There is another Buddhist Monk Joker say thatLLord Buddha was born in Sri Lanka, while another joker say that Rajapakse Maharajano is related to Lord Buddha and King Dutugemunu…..E

verybody knows that Hambanthota is the ancient port of Malay and Moroccan traders and many of the down south coastal inhabittans features look same to Hambans.

Also how King Vijaya’s grand Father (Vijaya’s Father was Sinhabahu and mother sinha Sivali’s father) was a LION is another controvicial statememt……..and historians have to do more research.

Therefore I tell my educated and cultured Sri Lankan Friends of All communities not to get trapped or duped by these Fake, liars and deceiving crooks uttering every day lies.

Also have close ties with all the Western countries who helped us ecomically and politically in the past, present and future also.

Please don’t fall into GOSL crook thug Political bunch of thieves who are telling lies of west and castigate them even after they helping our country in the past, present and will help us in Future.

IT IS GOSL POLITICAL CROOKS WHO TRY TO DIVIDE AND DECEIVE US AND SPREAD FALSE RUMORS OF WEST.

INFACT BUILD A VERY GOOD RAPORT AND RELATIONSHIP WITH WEST AND HAVE CONSTANT COMMUNICATION WITH THEM. CAREFUL FROM GOVT.POLITICAL WOLVES, THUGS AND DECEIVERS WHO COME WEARING MANY DIFFERENT DRESSES TO DECEIVE ALL OF US.

THE SO CALLED PATRIOTS ARE THE CUNNING FOXES WHO RUIN OUR COUNTRY. BE WATCHFUL.

All these talk about Muslims and Christians is not in love of the country or Buddhism , it’s only about the economy of the Muslims and Christians and the main organizers of these events are fully backed by the top of the regime. I’m really worried why there has been no statement on these issues by the ven. Mahanayake’s ? Whom are they afraid of the Regime ? BBS ? …. Most of the Sinhalese do not know the teachings of the Buddha at all and they do not take interest in studying the teachings as well. They only stop at sending their young ones to Dhamma School and stop at that. I urge all Sinhalese to study the teaching of Buddha on their own from their own scriptures and not to get misled by fake saffron robed monks who say that they are full authority on Buddhism in Sri Lanka.

I thank Yudhanjaya Wijeratne for his outspoken words. At the same time I would like to tell my fellow Muslims not to get incited by these saffron thugs and insult the Buddhist religion or Buddha.
We as muslims faced so many calamities from time immemorial but with the help of Almighty God we faced the problems courageously.
It it time all the intellectuals come together against these anti-social elements and defeat them.

I knew that such a thing was coming for some time. That is, violence against the Muslims. The Govt. is aware that the whole world is watching them and do not want to start anything against the Tamils, which they were doing earlier for the slightest issue. The Burgers escaped as many migrated to other countries. This is a hatred campaign, very much against the teachings of Lord Buddha, but unfortunately, most Sri-Lankans have given a vacation to their intellect. A young child will believe anything told to them, since their intellect has not grown to that of an adult. But, what is happening here. Most Sri-Lankans are having a child like mind, that they believe in everything that these so called Politicians and media say. No one is born with a hate for other race, religion. They are taught to do so. If they can be taught to hate people, they can be very easily taught to love people which comes naturally to the Human beings (quote by Mandella).

The world will never change for the better, but will get worse with time. All what is happening around the world is an indication for another devastating end.

Everyone is saying they won the war & if present happenings in Sri Lanka doesn’t stop, that it would lead to another war again. When you say another war, who the Army going to fight this time? What you are saying is that the Government will be fighing to stop the one’s who are rebelling against the injustices. If the Army is victorious then, the ones who are fighting against the injustices would be the losers. Injustice triumphs. So the war is won by the government upholding injustice. So the cause of the war would still be there. In other words, the war did not make the situation better but worse. So you cannot call that you have won the war. What’s happening now is that the same injustices that happened to the Tamils by the government is happening to another part of the communty- Sinhalese. The injustices done by the governmen to the Tamils are still there and the war had not solved the basic problem. So the country still had not won the war. The cause of the war was injustices to the Tamils and winning the war meant Injustices to the Tamils had triumped. The same is now meted out to the Sinhalese by the same corrupt government and the Bhuddhist clergy.
