    That’s great news for Yahapalanaya.

When are the Murderers and Plunderers going to be arrested?

    We are waiting.

        Ben,

are u real at all ?

Her intention and involvement in this mentioned case was to help one family – sure, she did a mistake to have taken the law to her hand. Here the Yahapalanaya men can show the world even ruling politicians are treated in the same manner as the opponents are treated. I think this they could have done at the begining, that way, they could send a message across the world that they are equal to anyone who goes against prevailing lession. Ballige puthas days, even Ajith Perera and other while visiting Hambantota harbour or the airport – even if they were physically attacked, were loudly ignored – even the victimized were punished telling the world, those attackers had been provoked by the visiting fact finding mission…. CAN YOU imagine ? People in this couintry have to respect RW and MY3 for the current paradigm wechsel from the conventional way…

          Samuel Jayaweera,

I give credit to Yahapalanaya for arresting Hirunika. Though it seems late, reluctant & even stage managed to bamboozle people.

Fact is Hirunika organized an abduction of a free citizen of this country. It is a pretty serious crime in my eyes. So should it be in yours. Given this nation’s bloody recent history.

Settling family disputes is not her business. At least not in this manner. Old habits die hard.

Further, I have no idea why these junior MPs are given brand new, extravagant Defender Jeeps.

Why does a backbench legislator need an utterly uneconomical, off-road 4WD vehicle? They are meant for toughest terrains in the world. Hirunika moves in congested Colombo Central streets. Not in the Atlas Mountains.

Most Sri Lankans languish on stinking public transport. While they fund Hirunika’s Defender. Why, oh why? Strip them away from these MPs. Period.

          Cheers!

          Dear Mr. Jayaweera

In this country they arrest whom they can, its not about justice. Our entire legal system is a sham. We are all either too stupid to see the truth or we are benefiting from a bogus system. Either way we are happy.

Its clear that Hirunika’s involvement in this matter was not for any personal gain, rather it was an act of compassion to her staff and his family. In another country she would not have had to get involved, the police would have taken stern action against the man who was enticing the married woman. But here in Sri Lanka, having affairs with married women seems like child’s play. What a bloody Hippocratic society!

Yes she may have taken the law into her hands but if our people have any sense in their heads they should think again. She took a big risk for the sake of another, risking her reputation, postion, etc. This is not bad. What was there for her to gain?? Nothing! Yet most dumbheads want her punished, is it because she is a woman? There are murders, rape, robbery etc daily, yet I don’t see people clamoring for justice! Why???

You can not compare this incident to the premeditated crimes that have been committed in our country by the past government, yet they go about freely. Whats the logic behind this???

Amarasiri is right every time he says that our average IQ is 79 or is it 69. There is no redemption for us, as long as we reason like monkeys. Half of us are servants/ Slaves in the middle east (happily by the way) the rest behave like slaves at home.

Story is moraly wrong But who is Hirunika, Almighty to take the law into her own hand play big Madam. Reminds me god father?

She made an offer that he could not refuse!

You as a retired man should know it well – this incident is based hondahitha within them. So, it to have exended to this level is not nice. Anyways, Hirunika s power had been abused by her working personnel. The kind of issues were plenty during Maharaja days, meaning not that evne today, the incidents should repeeat. Remember the day former CJ Dr. SB was sacked by their power – illegal means, all the men contracted by Mahinda et all, … went on streets with kathi pollu.. all these were the days we really had lawlessness of the country. Today, thanks to RW and MY3 we see, it though bit delayed, regardless of the status alleged are being treated. That is a good thing, that MR would never be able to allow.. MR is athe most corrupted man in lanken politics whoever whatever being explained to please the other.

Hirunika s incident should be a case for all young politicians that could work arbitorily not allowing law instituations to do their job. At the time, JVPERs and Ranjana Ramanayake and several other young blood went hunting proving mateirlas to go against alleged men of the Pro Raja- senior UNPers warned them accordingly but senior SLFPers failed to do the job.

I asked myself, at the time, UN commissioner was attacked by Kelaniya Mervin at the time, the lady was on a visit paid to lanka, Meeharaka Rajapakshe as a head of state stayed like a crocodile fed with clay. Today the bugger et al attacks the current steps of the rulers as nothing…. Can you imagine guys ?

      • 4
        2

Here I respect RW that much. He did not allow his junior men to take up ministerial positions. Even Hiran Fernando was behaving not well few weeks ago- in terms of serious issues. Ranjan, and all other expect Ajith Perera and Dr Harsh DE Silva seem tobe doing well using their wisdom. Had RW arbitorily allowed any new men to become ministers in today s cabinet, they all would have been doing their job to the very same manner Hirunika has done. Acutally, as Lasith made it clear above, it was to help other, not for her own sake, but even lawmakers should let police and courts to do their job – latter is important if they as Lawmakers to learn a lession to the nation.

All these past few years, Meeharaka led govt did not bring any kind of example so that country s youth could follow up. Instead, from Mervin Silva to any walgama or all they had been doing was thigghish actions, not even teenies would praise of them.

Even today, Shameless Rajapakshes still dare to open their mouths as if nothing had been wrong with them… Day before yesterday, again, Gotabaya had added -nothing has seen to have done during the last year, since they had been removed from power. This he says,.. even today.. as if he is the almighty man born to help the nation ?

The Attorney General of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka,

      RE: Hirunika Arrested

“Attorney General has ordered the arrest of Hirunika Premachandra MP, over the abduction of Amila Priyanga Amarasinghe at Dematoagdoa on 21st of December”

Is the Gamarala President from Gampaha Korale waking up to become Maha Parakrama Bahu from Polonabiwas?

What about the Rajapaksa and Company Killers, who are STILL at large?

Please don’t rape Ms. Hirunika, even though it is the Tradition in this Sinhala “Buddhist” Country, the Dhamma Deepaya, Faith Island, as claimed by Monk Mahanama in the Mahawansa. The Rahapaksa and Company have already killed her Father, and before arresting Ms. Hirunika, you should be arresting the killers.

Or is this akk for show, The Gamarala Show?

Hirunika her father and JARAPAKSHAS (all are actors) thought they are above the law. now look at them.look like monkeys, chaended and taken by the law.. good lesson to all the croks .god listens..these actors don’t listen.

Hirunika took the laws into her her hand in order to address a just a cause. she arrested an adulterer and warned him.

There are thieves in the Sri lankan govt who have violated the laws and morals in every way. But, they are living well. No one wrote an article about Rishad Bathiuddian who have violated every law in Sri lanka, destroyed forests, destroyed forests owing to the forest department, Owns lands in false names, owns over 3000 acres in his family members’ names, Some so called displaced muslims have one land in vilpattu area and another in puttalam or some where else, settles even foreigners in those lands because they were muslims, violated SL govt Gazettes, land owners are all sunnis who are prepared to start a jihad.

Rishad Bathiuddian’s claim is he came to colombo only with a plastic bag. NOw he has houses every where in colombo including one in colombo 7.

But, he is safe and in the name of Islam the govt is silent.

Yes this unintended action of HIrunika damaged the Yahapalana govt to that extent.
These young politicians should repeatedly be warned about their action even if the primary intentions are to help the people for good.
Letting law and order insituations to do the job as HAD NOT been the case with Mr Medamulanas days – can turn the society towards imporvement of good values.

    • 2
      0

IN the days of Medamulana, his idiotic sons had been going amok harming in every means, but nothing the kind of actions were taken by then police. Why ?

Today Gota to come up with hisunique thoughts that Yahapalanaya has done nothing but maed it a police state- should be discussed LOUDLY as the rulers can, in the next, days, else, the stupid gullible people will again be taken it wrong end.
People – I mean majoirty of the people inthis country would not react using their brains but get caught easily by popular statements being made by buch of uneducated men in leading position. Those idiotic leading men should be warned accordingly. Else, nothing would change to a tangible manner in this country.

Today we are thankful.. two leaders in power behave not going through same way as had been before 8th Jan 2015.

In this case theres was clear video evidence of the alleged crime. The AG had to act accordingly . The rest of speculative evidence like gossip which cannot be proven cannot be used in covicting anyone. Sooner the people realise this the better. Ie ANURA KUMARA DISSANAYAKE who is making himself hoarse by shouting out to arrest people.

The Country should bring in a law when a MP is arrested he/she automatically loses the parliamentary seat. They don’t deserve to serve the people who put them there.

      Arrest hardly proves guilt.

However, it is true that she had this coming her way, but what about the “rejects” in parliament, and even more the murderers of Thajudeen et al.

Those things, done a few years ago were worse.

        0

        Sinhala Man, my friend,

What exactly are you trying to say?

Here we have red hot evidence of something illegal and high handed being done. So are you trying to insinuate that since this crime does not compare with the Thajudeen murder or others equally horrendous, the police / Law does nothing in this case?

We need to start somewhere to get those in parliament to obey the Law first.

      Anthea,

Of all the comments found on this matter so far, yours – in my view – is the most intelligent and necessary.

Let this be a lesson for a large number of those now in parliament, that NO ONE can act above the Law.

That is the FIRST STEP towards a decent, law abiding, respectable society.

The House is already a place of disrepute where crooks, drug smugglers, murderers, war criminals, pimps, smart ass patriots, arsonists, …. bigots, racists find refuge.

What more could tarnish its reputation?

There is a lot of cleaning to be done in Srilanka koovam. The Koovam was established from the day British left Srilanka. Definitely we need help from British to carryout a through cleaning. It can not be done overnight and punishing the fresh criminals is the first priority than punishing the war criminals. When you boil a crab it will jump up and down for some time – likewise the criminals are making noise without knowing or knowingly their fate for all the crimes including chemical, shark, body parts, ransom and many more. This lady came into politics to get justice for her fathers killing and now she herself fallen into the Koovam.

The Police is still scared to arrest politicians.

There wasn’t a need to refer this case to the AG at all. That was just buck passing.

The Police need to feel confident in doing their own work. Its probably a legacy of politicization of the civil service since 1972.

Re- read your own comments Sumanasekera, and figure out for yourself, what kind of a person you are.

You can only sneer, be it for the right thing or the wrong thing, done during this government’s tenure.

If this website wishes to be an influential one and portray itself as one representing responsible public opinion, I think those writing should be serious, their comments responsible.

The first step – from us – is to support the right moves, and decry the wrong, as loud as possible.

Insulting the Prime Minister will only make him or his office not read this website, thereby our losing out on a great possibility of influencing a powerful man.

It is the same with the President and his office.

        J & F,

Did the Batalalanda PM, cancel that extra 3 % commission to Perpetual which your Elite mates pay to Aloysious every month?.

Did the President follow up on his demand to the PM on this , when he wrote the first Yahapalana Annual Report?.

        Happy New Year…

KA, why do you care about commissions ? You said nothing when BR was taking 10%. You are a just a Tamil hating racist, who would prefer for the country to be robbed blind by Medamulana goons, than have a fair and equal society. What makes you even more pathetic, is that you live in Australia and enjoy those benefits your self. Karma will get you my friend.

KA Sumanasekera, you are a pathetic hypocrite . We are all sick of your references to Dalits and Batalanda. Completely silent during the MR period. So shut the hell up now. You live in Australia, but you can’t stand it that your fellow Lankans still in Sri Lanka might have freedoms that you enjoy were you live. If you love MR and what he did for this country, MOVE BACK to SRI LANKA! Else what ever you say are just hypocritical rantings.

Poor woman, dragged into politics consequent to the murder of her father, and the influence of self seeking thugs, now ends up in remand arising out of the action of her body guards. She should have followed her professional career instead of being led by her nose and those goons around her. What a stigma for a young good looking married woman, I wonder how her newly married husband feels and what a mess she has made of her future. Damn good lesson for all those gullible, foolish, novices, who aspire to get into the filthy game of Sri Lankan Politics, assuming it would lead to fame and fortune, little realising what a den of thieves they have let themselves into.

Hirunika, you have been set up by right wing extremists and your enemies in the Rajapaksha and Kudu Duminda groups by a well intended but wrongly implemented unlawful action. If you had the prior intention of course you were wrong, but I would put it down to your somewhat immature judgement of political consequences and of course too complacent assessment of your enemies. Don’t forget the outgoing AG is a lackey of Rajapakshas and GR/ Duminda combination, and probably done to discredit you before he departs. One thing for sure, all citizens that love and want to safeguard the integrity of their families will applaud what you did, and I am sure all women in the country that love their husbands and children will back you up. OK< you have learnt the hard way, so did many politically engaged women throughout the world. You have to take all the bric bats for now, but stand firm, be courageous and go forward. In time, I hope that you will become someone like Indhira Gandhi of Sri Lanka. I know that some readers would give thumbs down and to them I say, think twice you vere know when your wife or daughter will get abducted by a sex crazy fiend, and there are lots of corrupt politicians and police and lawyers ad AGs ready to back them up. Was not there a recent case of a leading politicians son abducting an under-aged daughter from a dissenting parents, but seemd to have got away scot free. Such is the law of this god forsaken/ or Buddha forsaken country

If I were one of the authorities, I would never allow the sender HIRU to arbitorly add their thoughts.

This particular sender has tarnished the image of lanken press freedom.

Ask them why the buggers stay mum at the time, Dumnida Silva was kept away from srilanka.

Journos please come up with the question – why srilanken meidcal professionals made DOCTORed public statements about the head injury.
British MEDICAL Journal would be very happy to publish your statements, if anyone would find the real data of the head injury that costed the state that much. Even if there had been a silent protest knowing MR regime deliberately covered the issue – with the direct mediation of Meeharaka Rajapakshe – today it is the high time, Journos (the third force of the country s governance) to bring all the truth and acceptable reports about the health story of Duminda SIlva.

Why the bugger Duminda was not arrested even if the prima facie evidence were on the table by that wele sudda- all these are real questions that need to be clarrified.
Jounros please do the job in that direction – then you will be rewarded by the folks that have been the silent majoirty in this island nation.
We have been made silent by the brutal steps taken by Rajapakshes. It can take mmore time us to become normal.

bo: I appreciate what you said above. (1) We still do not know whether the woman in question was “kidnapped” or “ran away” with the person who was “abducted” by Ms. Hirunika’s guards. (2) In the case of AG, he could be having his friendship with GR, Duminda or any other “Big Wigs”; but the ordinary citizens knew that Ms. Hirunika’s involvement was very material to the case and she should be arrested along with the rest who participated in the “kidnapping”. (3) Ms. Hirunika claims to be a “Lawyer” and should have known much better than any other in handling matters of this nature, and more so she is a “Peoples’ Representative” who should take care of all the people irrespective of political shades.(4) Her First priority and obligation is to uphold the Law and Order of the country as a Parliamentarian and also as a Lawyer and being a woman she should have displayed much more “Decency” and “Decorum” in handling public affairs. (5) It is too “Late” and too “Bad” a way to learn to be mature and aspire to be a “Indira Gahandi” of Sri Lanka; because this STIGMA will not go away that easily and it will be USED for ever in the future. Having said that, I too appreciate that she could be another “Indiras Gahandi” of Sri lanka when compared to some who got elected to Parliament even while being in Remand Custody for “MURDER”. So in that respect, comparatively this is NOTHING and ANYTHING and EVERYTHING are possibilities in this “Miracle of Asia” and now a “Hub City of the World”. OHAMA YAMUKO.

Hiru wanted the death penalty reinstated or enhanced. She has been very political about her father’s murder.
Duminda UNP. Premachandra SLFP. Chandrika played a role in shifting Hirunika this side. It looks like this happened to Hiru because of her hard stand on arresting and prosecuting Duminda. Now Duminda has a slight edge. Neither UNP nor SLFP will let Duminda or Premachandra get upper hand. They will resolve after extracting promise from Hiru that she will give up her stand on Duminda.

Sad state of affairs. Hirunika has been distracted by the toxic people who have gathered around her, each with their own agenda, and each hoping to turn her their way. One can only hope that she has the power to to see through those who would manipulate her for their purposes, because she has a lot of good to give, and will be a definite asset to the people she represents.

Ansar. A good question. When are the murderers and the thieves are going to be arrested??
The low grade law of SL and the low class rulers of SL can only go after the soft options… Those are Women , minorities and underclass who are in the top of the punishment lists of the law and order of the CORRUPT country.

Whether you agree or not these are to white wash the Modayas Eyes.
Please don’t get carried away , the thieves and Murderers will go on making the WALK TO FCID AND TO THE PRESIDENTIAL COMMISSION FROM THE TAX PAYERS MONEY PAID AND RIDICULED BY THE SO CALLED CULPRITS AND HAVING A LAUGH ON THE TAX PAYERS STUPIDITY.
    How about that.?

The Govt. is caught up badly with AG’s decision on MP. Premachandra’s
arrest of their own MP and now, they have to maintain absolute silence when future arrests are made. As per chief spokesman of the Govt. Dr.
Rajitha Senaratne, most cases are investigated and complete with proof of wrong doing and we could see more arrests of big wigs taking place, one after the other. People waited patiently for this day.

It should be in the new constitution that MPs arrested and convicted
for crimes against humanity , should forfeit their position as MP and
should not be allowed to accept any govt. positions. The laws should
be strict to get the MPs working for the people instead getting involved in nefarious activities.

This is the biggest weakness of the Modayas. The Parrots just repeat the words you teach , that’s exactly the same as of ordinary Srilankans.
Are we lacking in our own intelligence and judgements.??
