IGP Makes A Pathetic Display Of Incompetence Regarding BASL President’s Request

In a public display of the pathetic plight that the Police Department has sunken to,  the IGP, instead of executing his duties promptly, has informed the President of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) that his request for an independent investigation into the recent intimidation attempts he had to face, have been forwarded to the Secretary of the Ministry of Law and Order for approval.

In response to a letter by BASL President Upul Jayasuriya on July 23 titled ‘Security threat imposed on my life’ where he requested the Police Department to hold an independent investigation into the recent attempts by an unidentified gang to intimidate him, the IGP has informed Jayasuriya that approval has been sought from the Secretary to the Ministry of Law and Order to act upon the request.

Jayasuriya expressing his disappointment over the state of affairs and the lack of action or concern over the threats on his life told Colombo Telegraph that the response was a clear reflection of the pathetic state of the IGP.

“He has no shame to display in public, his inability to take a decision within his conscience and to discharge his duties under the Police Ordinance without being dictated by an administrative office who has no role to play under the Police ordinance,” he said.

Just over a week ago, an unidentified group in a motor-cycle and a three-wheeler tailed Jayasuriya for hours in an attempt to intimidate him. Despite reporting the vehicle registration numbers of the motor-bike and the three-wheeler in question, the Police still have not been able to make a single arrest in relation to the incident.

It is interesting to note that these intimidation attempts were made just two days after the BASL Executive Committee issued a statement condemning the circular issued by the National Secretariat for NGOs operating under the purview of the Defense Ministry.

Welcome to the Miracle of Asia unruled by the TSUNAMI FUND SWINDLER AND HIS COWARDICE BROTHER WHO BOLTED TO USA TO PROTECT HIS LIFE AT THE HEIGHT OF LTTE INSURGENCY AND RETURNED ONLY WHEN HE WAS SAFE UNDER HIS BROTHER’S PRESIDENCY.

Every body has been made impotent by these two thugs who run the country at their whims and fancies. No Cabinet Minister or any other Police or Government Official have the power to do anything, without the approval of these two uneducated morons, who rule over every one under an iron fist policy. I was once told that, GEMUNU WIJERATHNE WAS ONCE MERCILESSLY ATTACKED BY NONE OTHER THAN MARA IN THE TEMPLE TRESS FOR NOT TOWING THE LINE AND ONE POLICE OFFICER IN THE SCENE HAS RESCUED HIM FROM THE ONSLAUGHT.

The country needs to be rescued from these two thugs at any cost otherwise the consequences will be severe.

Elections can never be won under the current situation where the Elections Commissioner, the whole of Government Apparatus and the Judiciary under these two thugs. The only option available is to bring all the civil society/organizations under one Umbrella and create nation wide awareness programme to educate the rural masses of the hypocritic behaviour of these two self seeking thugs, who sell the patriotic slogan for their survival at the expense of the country.

May our beautiful country be saved from these two thugs for our future generations at least.

In my opinion I.G.P, Mr. N.K Illangakoon is correct as he used to keep quite until he get the order from our Sri Rohana Manaranjana to hold an Impartial and Independent Inquiry and bring the culprits in to books if something important happens in the country like killing a Journalist, arson attacks on Media Institute’s, Abduction or forced disappearances etc. etc..

This time also he waited for such an order from the Sri Rohana Manaranjana and there is none as our Sri Rohana Manaranjana has no time for this kind of things as his mood fully tuned to the Election mode. Now he has just send a reminder though Secretary of the Ministry of Law and Order to get the usual order from the Manaranjana.

Everybody knows that there is no Law and Order in our country although there is ministry and Retired puppet ex. military man is there as a Secretary. Final decision will be taken by Grease piya and Saddarmadveepa Chakrawarthi only has to endorsed it.

We are very famous Nation for asking “Pena from Horage Amma”. Now it is like asking to inquire about a crime or attempted crime from the Criminal.

In my Opinion most suitable dress for our IGP is “Gaanu Cheeththaya”

No lawyer is willing to accompany arrested ctizens to police stations and advise them before and during interrogation.
None object to cases being postponed unnecessarily as they ‘live on dates’.All have touts around courthouses.
Lawyers should first gain the trust of citizens, and then, the citizens will stand by them.

IGP is more interested in providing security details to Rapists, Kudu Mudalalis, Murderers etc., but not to a judicial officer of the courts. Its time this IGP is either fired or resigns from his post as he is very incompetent to do this job. The Public should demand this.

BASL deserves this treatment from the IGP, for they have NOT taken up so many matters that effect the Public nor taken a stand on matters of great
    importance to SL Society.

Spare a poor thought for the man now in this once independent and powerful of posts. These days he is reduced to asking permission to carry out a statutory duty. A bag man for the controller. All shiny pips and stars, but no snap, crackle and pop. The poor man is about as useful as halal butcher in Anuradhapura these days.
