Is Choice Limited To Heartless Gota, Hopeless Ranil & Clueless Sira?

By Kumar David

Prof. Kumar David

Sun Tzu say: “If you know enemy and know yourself, no need fear hundred battles. If you know yourself but not enemy, for every victory you suffer one defeat. If you know neither enemy nor yourself, you succumb in every battle.”

First the Easter carnage and after that mob riots have put a different focus on upcoming elections. The presidential falls due between 15 November and 15 December and it seems our choice is limited to an alleged war criminal or a non-achiever; clueless Sira, now monkeying with geishas in Japan, is not a serious starter. Mob violence evokes bitterness among Muslims, one writes: “There is evidence police in affected areas are not protecting Muslims. The majority, themselves Sinhala Buddhists, want to join the melee. Rioters should be shot but electoral benefit will go to the Rajapaksas who incite extremism”. While it is true that SLLP and the Paksa-Brotherhood did encourage SB extremism and collude with the dregs in the past, to be agonizingly fair, there is no evidence the Brotherhood or the SLPP did by word or action encourage the post Easter Sunday mobs; at least I have so far seen no evidence and it is unjust to convict on reputation alone. Let us hold our tongues unless real evidence comes to light.

I have concerns because there is talk of “a hidden-hand” or “a black-hand” moving mobs into riot torn areas from outside and there is fear that a higher power may be behind military collusion with goon squads such as here (Colombo Telegraph).

Monks help clean up a bombed out church

One is justified in fearing that goons from, say Kulyapitiya were moved to Minuwangoda to burn and loot, while a reverse movement creates mayhem in Kulyapitiya, and so on. Muslims whose shops and homes were gutted say: “Our families have been living here for generations. We have been educated at Sinhala schools. It’s very unlikely that the villagers orchestrated this attack”. Another from the village who lost everything said: “It was our Sinhalese brothers and sisters who helped us in this situation. We don’t believe anyone from our neighbourhood in Kuliyapitiya was involved”.

It is impossible to transport and switch goon squads around without connivance of the guardians of “law and order”. So is there a black-hand fermenting trouble? If so who is the likely suspect? The Army Commander will much better serve the nation if instead of “humbly” begging rioters to stay off the streets he can get his men to do their duty with firmness! Major Prabhath Bulathwatte, commander Tripoli Military Intelligence Platoon, allegedly responsible for assassinations, abductions and attacks on journalists has been recalled to active service by the Army Commander. Is the Sri Lanka Army incapable of ensuring sound intelligence without depending on rotten apples out on bail? “Kadavule!”

In my column last week I did insist: “Lanka will heal and recover more quickly than Cassandras and prophets of gloom predict. I detect fine-tuned judgement in people’s minds and more caution in jumping to conclusions. This is not July 1983 when Lanka was a JR-inspired cannibal. We have learnt our lesson and the mood is different. Jihadism will not defeat us; it will not overpower the Muslims. It will be eradicated, it has no indigenous roots, its eschatology is of foreign provenance. Those baying for Muslim blood and the rabble rousers will be vanquished”. For this I was rebuked, “Wishful Thinking is the Mother of Delusion”; however, though a little dampened, my optimism remains. Buddhist monks are visiting and helping clear up debris in bombed churches, mosques have offered to open their doors to Cardinal Ranjith, there is widespread indignation at both jihadist killers and racist goons, and I note that ‘Comments’ in Colombo Telegraph on rehiring Bulathwatte express near unanimous outrage. Such things we did not see in 1983. Come on Lanka, let’s vanquish the prophets of gloom; let us prove that we are not deluded!

Firmness will restore order on the streets within hours but as Sumanthiran lamented: “It is of particular concern to hear reports of attacks taking place during curfew with security forces not taking steps to stop the violence”. Quite justifiably and forebodingly he added “If people think that government and security forces are unable or unwilling to protect them, they will defend themselves. Don’t let that happen! Don’t let yet another community feel that to survive it must fight for its life”. Sinhala racists, the compromised armed forces and the government are, by inaction, laying the ground for a repetition of the Tiger story. We the people must turn back this time bomb.

This brings me to the matter promised in the title of this piece. Gota, Ranil and Sira are worse than useless. The first is an alleged war-criminal, a white-van fan and a danger to Tamils and Muslims; the second is effete under fire (Mrs B had bigger balls) and the third is a moron. Realistically, that in purely electoral terms, unfortunately is that we will only have a choice between Gota if he gets the US to confirm his citizenship dump, and Ranil. If that be the case how should one vote? I mean the second preference vote, no ways should any in this deplorable triumvirate get a first preference vote. This is a topic I will return to nearer the date and after Gota’s citizenship puzzle is clarified.

The thrust of my title is that in the first instance (first instance means before reflecting on the second preference vote) we must eschew all three in this good-for-nothing triumvirate. We must put up a New Alternative, a candidate who can reflect ‘the fed-up voter’, those who rallied to the January Eighth Movement of 2015, the Left, the Liberals, the Democrats, the TNA, Mano Ganesan, women’s and non-governmental bodies, the and if it joins, the JVP. It’s not at all too early to call a Unity Forum(s) to take up the idea. Of course we won’t win or come second, but Rome was not built in a day and I daresay the builders toiled for a while before the job got done. If the people in their majority choose Gota, Ranil, or some other rascal nominated by the SLPP or UNP, well they will suffer for five more years but the effort to get past such obstacles has to start now and the builders have to be patient and tireless. Many people say this, but a concrete call for a Unity Forum has yet to be issued.

A threat to the constitution and to democracy – are military and black-hand smacking their lips? – has been aired in recent weeks. The safeguard is mobilisation of the people. Mobilisation in this context is to extensively discuss it, vigorously oppose the concept in the media, and in the worst case oppose it with a general strike. The three blind mice of the triumvirate will not mobilise the people to meet this threat; my putative new initiative can include this task on its agenda.

A core element in the programme has to be rejection of ethno-politics, that is slavery to identity obsession. Eradication will require intervention on many fronts; education, creating a new consciousness and changing the constitution. Embedding religion (the so-called rightful place of Buddhism) and special mention of Sinhala in all constitutions since 1972 has encouraged a narrow and profoundly divisive state of mind in the people. A plural, democratic, modern and progressive philosophy cannot be stimulated in the country unless the Chapter on Buddhism is repealed by assertion of secularism and all differential or unbalanced references to language are removed. None of this is going to happen overnight but it is time to boldly place this on the agenda. No one in the good-for-nothing triumvirate will dare say any of this.

We want heartless Gota as said by Kumar David because he was heartless to annihilate LTTE Terrorism and so called Sun God Prabhakaran in order to give right to live for all Sri Lankans.

Besides, he is very much capable of annihilating Muslim Terrorists and bring back the Muslim society align with Sri Lankan values, customs, traditions.

Gota is not qualified to become the President of Sri Lanka. What is his educational qualifications except serving in the Army and looting the country. His duel citizenship is still doubtful and his civil cases in US [2 cases ] is still pending. How can he dream to, become a president of a country.

    .
Come on Guru, There has been a lot of property damage as far as I know. But only very few deaths. That too due to the rioters – not the security forces.
    .
Property can be rebuilt. But a dead son, a dead father or a brother cannot be brought back. So the restraint shown by the security forces has to be admired. Not to be laughed at.

Ok, Prof. with your permission, let me enlighten the uninitiated:
    “Kadavule!” = ‘Aney Deiyaney’

Ok, now to my point – A short history of Sri Lanka:

1948 to 1978 – enact laws, promulgate regulations, – alienate the minority – and promise the sky and the moon to the masses, – do anything the suckers will swallow and get elected –
Prop up Buddhism by all means! – Sinhala Language is Supreme!

1979 – 2009 – crush the Tamil minority – send a clear message – “if you want war – let there be war”. Ignore the Geneva Convention – go all out – collateral damage is accepted – indiscriminately bomb hospitals, temples and annihilate innocent civilians in the war zone.

Prop up Buddhism by all means! – Sinhala Language is Supreme!

2010 – 2014 – plunder the country while the ignorant masses are celebrating the war victory – hold parades on Galle Face Green – display military might. Ignore calls from international community, UNHCR, Amnesty International and other agencies for accountability for atrocities committed during the final stages of the war.
Forget separation of Church and State. Recruit radical Buddhists into the fold and let them loose into the communities to attack Christians and Muslims.

Get the country into a mountain of debt – that it can never recover from. Give Chinese a port in Hambantota, and a foothold in Colombo reclaimed portion of the ocean.
Prop up Buddhism – by all means! – Sinhala Language is Supreme!

2015 – Present – Prop up Buddhism by all means! – Sinhala Language is Supreme!

Celebrate the plans unleashed 70 years ago coming to fruition!

      Ugly American
Well said but Modayas brains are fixed with Sinhala Buddhism. It’s fixed in the brains man! No hanky panky until the cows come home to roost or home penny less and starve to death.
Who gets sacrificed in the chopping board first , the minorities and then the village Modayas who wants Sinhala Buddhism.
Atleast the elite minorities and working class minorities have the ability to survive somehow.
The village Sinhale’ Modayas have nothing . No education , no skills , except the vengeance and hate instilled by the elite new rich racists. living in and abroad eating their newly acquired humble pie and eating that happily .
The politicians who have their own agenda , divide and rule , get rich from the state finances.
Make these village Modayas to become Nuts.
Soon these uneducated Modayas will turn against their masters its not too far off to see.
Signs are not very favourable , must find a Horoscope Reader or Horror master.

      Prof. Kumar David,

RE: Is Choice Limited To Heartless Gota, Hopeless Ranil & Clueless Sira?

The Ugly American above has succinctly summarized the situation. The Para low mean IQ of 79 certainly helped.

Sun Tzu say: “If you know enemy and know yourself, no need fear hundred battles. If you know yourself but not enemy, for every victory you suffer one defeat. If you know neither enemy nor yourself, you succumb in every battle.”

The British with mean IQ 100, gave the governance to the Paras, mean IQ 79. Are you surprised?

      The curse is Para-Sinhala Para-“Buddhism”

      The cause is Para-Sinhala Para-“Buddhism”.

They were aided by the other Paras.

        Why Socrates Hated Democracy

        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fLJBzhcSWTk

We’re used to thinking hugely well of democracy. But interestingly, one of the wisest people who ever lived, Socrates, had deep suspicions of it.

“We are used to thinking very highly of democracy – and by extension, of Ancient Athens, the civilisation that gave rise to it. The Parthenon has become almost a byword for democratic values, which is why so many leaders of democracies like to be photographed among its ruins…”

Unfortunately Sri Lanka is not ruled by the President or PM, the reigns are in the hands of Mahanayakas. They only decide the future of Sri Lanka. Borh PM and President go an bow down on the feet of Mahanayakas to get their blessings and advice to rule the country.and enforce they orders without any consultation and guide from the intellectuals or diplomats. The country is now bankrupt and it is a damn shame to go on begging and begging and at last fell in to the traps to end in selling the country by pieces and pieces to foreign sharks.

The following articles very clearly proves the brutality of successive Sr Lankaan Governments against the minorities.

Edwin Heart of Kindom of Sirisena may be different.
But rest of his body is hired by Rajapakshe rascals. Dont you think so ? Yet today, bugger Sirisena has no whatsoever made open statements as to why bugger et al travelled to China, the country is amidst much higher security threats. Nor has Ballige putha uttered a single word those riots to have made on innocient muslim families in those areas, just a word of apology should be given right ? Expecting such statements form a low life of Sirisena is similar to wait until pigs might fly oneday. It is just the bugger is now lost in many ways. His journey towards ” 6 feet under” is becoming more realistic.
Let s hope permanement good bye to this bugger ! His spinlessness created lot more additional problems to left overs by Rajapakshes rascals.

Sirisena is cunning as a fox. Have you seen how generous he is with the public money. Look at some of his actions.

        1) One million Rs to the school boy who built an Ahas Koora rocket. (What a waste)
        2) Promising to give whatever is needed for pardoned prisoner to complete his PhD thesis.
        .

That is not money coming from his ‘Boodale’. It is public money coming from the taxes we pay. (Even my poor gardener – a poorest of the poor) pays a tax even when he has a plain tea.
        .
Such grants should be given out based on the decision made by a panel – not on the whims and fancies of an idiot, who for all we know may be feathering his nest with small commissions from these grants.
        .
If he gives 1 million for an Aha Kooru boy, what is he going to give more creative boys around the country? It is only going to discourage others.

Edwin Rodrigo@ very correct Mr Rodrigo, I could not agree with more.
          .
Me too I had no words to express at the time, stupid Sirisena jumped and offered 1 mio of LR for that Ahas Koora Rocket. See how many of among those get hurt by Elephant-Human conflict areas, not having the basics such as proper some protection to their children. Nor have they even hay huts to survive humanly.
          .
I happened to listen to a YOU JUDGE video y day, a mid aged woman from rank and file loudly questions, as to why the govt has failed to make SALARY hikes for police service personnel ye today ? That is of vital important.. time worthy too.. those countries in south east asian pay good salaries to police… but not a single politician came up in SL damanding it yet.
Instead they let their vehicle pools becoming filled with high luxury cars even if roads within th ecountry are laid with carpet today. So why should they necessarily purchase new cars for them ?
          :
Ironically, those who are in Parliament, stay mum as they are fed with kirimati, let alone, not questioning the president’s actions why ? Is that his OWN funds ? no, it is the people s tax funds. So how can he waste them that way ?

Buramphisincho, don’t you think it is disrespectful to call Narisise Ballige Putha? I understand your anger because I too feel the same way. But I think Ballige Putha is a little too harsh for the Balli (Bitch) in question. Dogs (and Bitches) whom you have insulted here are sensitive animals. I don’t think even a Para Balli would feel honored if you make a connection between it and Narisise.

        .

Give a Bitch an Appa (hopper) and she will remember and be grateful for it her whole life. She would wag her tail and lick your feet, face and whatever to show how grateful she is. Most of all, she would look after your safety and warn you of any breaches of security. If a burglar comes in she would not pass the responsibility to the next dog. Instead she would raise the alarm and put in to action well thought-out defensive plans.

        .
Another advantage is that a canine of good breed would understand English.

Very agree with you Mr Rodrigo. Thank you for your nice comment !
          :
My anger is not under control in thse days since i happened to watch several videos the way how Rajapakshes loyalists brutally attacked those innocient, muslim families.
          :
I agree with you more about the domestic dogs and their repay to us.
          :
One of my cousin sisters had 5 generations of cats and dogs. They had been so crazy with domestic animals (for good for both sides).
          .
We also had rabbits, parrots and several other animals as pets. Now us being in EUrope, we are only bound to our jobs not having enough time to have even a cat.
          :
I respect animals lot more today than ever being in the past, because I believe human species are multiple times cruel than the animals. More of them, unfortunately, you could find in OUR beloved country srilanka.
          :
From University to anywhere you would mingle, you will find animal-like SRILANKENs though calling themselves SINHALA BUDDHISTs but continue to be barabaric. Alone their wording towards the other regardless of the race, sometimes to their ones in own race, they abuse their mouth not thinking twice. I thought OUR religion could shape up our nation, unfortunatley, now I think my assumption was totally out of focus.

THE WRITING IS ON THE WALL. – I

This is a very serious comment.

This writer complaints about the heartless, the hopeless and the clueless. I guess he wants or wishes for a great president, another Obama perhaps. No, you dont have the luxury of doing that. Because one of these choices is much, much worse than the others, bad as the others are. You should thank your lucky stars if you don’t end up with it, because right now, it looks quite clear that that is what you will get, unless everybody against that choice forgets everything else and all other complaints to unite and defeat it.

It is human nature to forget how bad things were a few years ago, and continue to complain and ask for improvement. But you are going to get a rude reminder soon: worse than a reminder, because things will be much, much worse now than they ever were in the past, including the time of MR.

Yes, I am quite confident that, come January 2020, Mr. GR will be the president of the state known presently as Sri Lanka. I am in fact willing to call that presidential election right now: it will be a GR win (though I woud very gladly be wrong). I am also willing to state right now that, in a few years after that, most of the GR voters, including the Sinhala Buddhist hardliners, will be banging their heads on the wall about the choice they made. But it will be too late then.

The responsibility for electing GR will rest with the Sinhalese, because the Tamils and Muslims will vote in droves against them, but will be overwhelmed by the post-Easter Sinhala vote.

Sun Tzu has also said: “Confront them with annihilation, and they will then survive; plunge them into a deadly situation, and they will then live. When people fall into danger, they are then able to strive for victory”.

Tamils in Sri Lanka. Tamils all over the world, Human Rights Activists, UN and International Community will never ever forget or forgive the BLACK JULY [July 1983 and MULLIVAKKAL GENOCIDE . GOSL must comply and implement all of its commitments to the UN and IC and implement the UNHRC Resolution 40/1 in time, failing will force UN to hold a referendum in theN&E to get the voice of the people of this land to decide their future.

    2

THE WRITING IS ON THE WALL. – II

The responsibility for electing GR will rest with the Sinhalese, because the Tamils and Muslims will vote in droves against them, but will be overwhelmed by the post-Easter Sinhala vote. Throughout the world, the right is gaining ground, and people vote based on how they like to feel, much more than using their intellect. Post-Easter Sri Lanka will not break this trend. It will be DJ’s dream come true, the majority of the majority electing the president. But the nightmare will begin soon after that. Every idiot who voted GR in will suffer.

The smart and capable will leave the country in droves. But even this wont be easy, because the west has its own issues and does not have the willingness to absorb refugees or skilled workers as it once did, for many reasons. Everybody else struck in the thrice-blessed island will go through an economic and human rights nighmare. But that will not be the worst of it. The election of GR, his policies, and the divisiveness that he will create will be ideal for international big powers to wade in to the island and turn it into a great football field. The people, including those who voted for GR, will be the football. The sky resembling a Syrian sky at present, where world superpowers take turns to test out their latest bomber aircraft and bomb the cities back to stone age, is not a far fetched proposition.

      Hard Truth,

Your message is loud and clear!
      I concur wholeheartedly.

We are among masses – whose thick skull is difficult to penetrate through!

Look at the Security forces, – even after being given the names of the terrorists, the group they belong to, the locations where they are targeting – the stupid guys did not act.

How can you expect the masses to read the writing on the wall?
The politicians from both sides of the aisle, will throw the Sinhala Buddhist card, and our sacred duty to protect Theravada Buddhism – and all rational thinking goes by the wayside. The same dirty lot will get elected again.

      We are doomed.

uggest that a campaign be carried out on the basis that all voters will only vote for an “Independent” candidate at the next Presidential election.
Any candidate with any affiliation to a political party should be rejected.
No campaigning through public meetings are allowed.
Each candidate be given TV/Radio time.
Bio-datas of all candidates be circulated to all voters.

This will get rid of the current set of rogues and give us a fresh face as the next President.

These are for protecting Sinhala buddist.

Cholan: I agree with you 100% nice reply.

      4

      Cholan
This is your most idiotic comment so far.
Why do you talk about the things you don’t know?
Lord Buddha was not a Hindu or even a Brahmana. He was a Shramana.
There was NO Hinduism in Lord Buddha’s time which was 4th Century BC.
What existed at the time were Vedic and Upanisad religions.
Hinduism was formed in the 7th Century AD, AD, very much later.
The word Hindu was derived from Sindhu.
Ancient traders have called those who lived beyond the bank of Sindhu River (Indus River) as Sindhus.
Later, the religion of Sindhus/Hindus which was derived from Veda and Brahmanism was called Hinduism.
The Buddha we worship at present, who is called Gautama Buddha, is not the first Buddha or the last Buddha.
There had been 27 Buddhas before him, as described in many Suttas.
The three Buddhas who were before Gautama Buddha were; Kakusandha Buddha, Kashyapa Buddha (as per Fahien’s travel records of visiting Kakusandha and Kashyapa Buddha Stupas) and Konagama Buddha (according to King Ashoka’s inscriptions).
The next Buddha is Maithri Buddha (present form God Natha).
Even Baba Vanga, the famous Bulgarian prophet whose predictions are widely believed by the Western world, has predicted only upto 51st Century (year 5000.)
Nobody can explain why she stopped at the year 5000.
It is the same thing what Lord Buddha says. Buddha Sasana will exist in Sri Lanka for 5000 years. That means a Buddha is born in every 5000 years.

This story of a Mass Conversion of an entire nation and its king must be the biggest in history !!

Prof Kumar David concludes “GR is heartless” and “RW hopeless & MS clueless”
Note the special place to GR and the other two bracketed.
RW & MS have hearts. GR is not only heartless but is clueless and hopeless.
    .
Kumar David dismisses, in his words “Easter Carnage”, the ‘tragedy’ that was the 2019 Lankan Easter Sunday. His wishful thinking {“….Jihadism will not defeat us; it will not overpower the Muslims. It will be eradicated, it has no indigenous roots,….”}.
The man is knee deep in square one, already overcrowded with shallow thinkers.
    .
Lankan Muslims have accepted that some radicals did it. Now think laterally for a moment man.
Did the actions of Bodu Bala Sena (BBS), since the formation in 2012, accelerate the radicalisation of the already radicals?
BBS did contract arson of marked Muslim businesses. MR saw the potential in BBS and went all out protecting BBS. GR was and probably is a patron.
The role of BBS in the anti-Muslim 2014 Aluthgama pogrom is no secret.
BBS is rightwing, ultra nationalist calling themselves Sinhala Buddhist. MR markets them as ‘Defenders of Lankan Buddhism’.
    .
Kumar David: Is BBS a terrorist organisation?

    Another historical Easter Sunday incident:

The Easter Sunday Raid (or Battle of Ceylon) was an air attack by carrier-based aircraft of the Imperial Japanese Navy against Colombo, Ceylon (now Sri Lanka), on Easter Sunday, 5 April 1942, during the South-East Asian theatre of World War II. This attack was part of the Indian Ocean Raid, and was followed a few days later by a similar attack on Trincomalee.
    .
    H. G. P. Jayasekera, president of the Ceylon War Veterans Association of World War II, wrote: ” The Ceylon R.A.F. had only 20 planes as against that of 120 Japanese planes. These 20 fighter planes got off from the Racecourse grounds and there was an air battle over Colombo on Easter Sunday morning (5 April). Ceylon Garrison Artillery and Boys of Royal Artillery managed to shoot down many of the Japanese planes.”
    .
Sir Winston Churchill said “The most dangerous moment of the War, and the one which caused me the greatest alarm, was when the Japanese Fleet was heading for Ceylon and the naval base there. The capture of Ceylon, the consequent control of the Indian Ocean, and the possibility at the same time of a German conquest of Egypt would have closed the ring and the future would have been black”.

Squadron Leader Birchall was flying a Catalina flying boat out over the Bay of Bengal when he spotted the Japanese Invasion Fleet – aircraft carriers, troop ships, battle cruisers and oil ships, steaming towards Ceylon, but was shot down by Jap ‘Zeros’ from the carriers and was held a prisoner till the war ended, but managed to radio the information to Mountbatten’s HQ at Peradeniya Gardens.
The fleet turned back after it was spotted.

      You have earned 100%.

Please make an educated guess as to what happened in 2005 presidential elections, on 19 May 2009 and between 2005 and 2009.

In the meantime it’s going to take another millennia for the people to actually understand as to why every Tom, Dick, Harry and strangers whoever passes by this island just pop in and attempts to grope the islanders.

Then blame Tamils, Hindus, Muslims, Christians, Sinhalese, Buddhists, Burgers, …………………… except the Sinhala/Buddhist noisy fascists.

You and your mate Mangala Samare would love to have it that way ..Wouldn’t you….

BTW I am just about to post a comment after reading one of the articles from a staunch supporter of Dr Ranil’s UNP Faction.. Please read it if you get time …

It is a guess that MS intentionally orchestrated the Kuliyapitiya incident through his goons and vanished handing over the acting role to Ruwan. 225 +1 knew what was in coming. Since MS orchestrated, no one commented or took action other than releasing statements as if they are concerned. It is very likely forces knew and just remained spectators. The soldier gesturing the mob to attack says a lot. The coverup story also says a lot. The forces and 225 + 1 is deeply complicit in all the misery faced by the citizens. There are only terrorists and 225 + 1 who are also terrorists and frauds responsible for the downfall of Sri Lanka. Citizens wake up if you want to wipe out terrorism and misery, dont cast your vote to the 225 + 1 or Gota.

In the old days, police carried batons, and ‘baton charges’ defused many a situation of public disorder.
A sudden severe pain dissuades many a criminal.
The army men and police should first resort to ‘baton charges’. They are unwilling to shoot because deaths may occur, and this unwillingness is interpreted by rioters, arsonists and rioters as fear and as being under orders to “not to shoot”.

If baton charges had been carried out most of the carnage – post Easter Sunday – would have been avoided.

Any new president should seriously consider this matter.
All above discussion appears to leave only two choices – Mangala or Karu for president.

Kumar David: Karu Jayasooriya had said IF he were handed over certain Task in the name of the country he would do it. IS that the answer you are looking for. but, Sarath Fonseka he also wants to show his capabilities. But, a westren country had said, they would like to help to eradicate Global Terrorism. Maithripala sirisena says it is not the first time different nations wanted to help us. He is suspicious whether they are looking for what went wrong and why did not it work. They change colour the way Iguwana does that but we can not do that.

This is a very CRITICAL time for Sri Lanka and the People. It is time for the people to forget, “Heartless”; “Hopeless” and “Clueless”; but very CONSCIOUSLY think of the future of the country. and make up their mind to bring in a “MODERATE” and “PROGRESSIVE” “Human Being” who could put together a “Scattered and a “Bruised” country and a nation. In retrospect, the people of Sri Lanka have proven to be looking for “Heartless”; “Hopeless” “Clueless” at a time of National Calamity, most of it “Created” to suit ones “Agenda” and move aimlessly much on “Impulse” rather than on considered “Consciousness”. Let this time be termed such behaviour “Historic” and act together to “RE-BUILD” a “BRAND NEW” country that could be gifted to the future generations. So far the one and the only “Contender” who has made the announcement is in all respects “Heartless”; “Clueless” and “Hopeless”, excepting that person is solely motivated in achieving a “Personal Agenda”(designed both from within and outside) from a National Calamity. Hope the PEOPLE of all walks of life would immediately identify this “DANGER” and react strongly against such “Destructive Forces” for the sake of the country and the future generation.

It is now known that the US helped Sri Lanka considerably in wiping out the floating arsenal arms in high seas by providing basic intel. But it is the same US that mooted the resolutions against Sri Lanka in the UNHRC. When the UNHRC was in disagreement with US she quit and the Brits took over that task. Now? US wants to help Sri Lanka more than what Sri Lanka is asking to get over the current situation. People likes of KUM were really pleased at the performance in UNHRC. Did anything tangible ever happen in reality? Now they are concerned as to whether Herr Gottler would be elected the next President. The reality is Sri Lanka is still recovering from a terrible tragedy. Streets are less dense than before. Business has gone down. Parents are in two minds as to whether to send their children to school. This never happened even with the LTTE bomb explosions taking place every where in the country. Politicians from the North who wanted the security forces out of the Northern Province now want them back. There could be some areas of agreement and disagreement in what people write and the right of expression is sacred. But do take into consideration that people are still mourning and to make political predictions in view of the current situation is insensitive to public feelings. THEY ARE DISGUSTED WITH THE CURRENT POLITICIANS ACROSS THE DIVIDE. KUM should be aware how people in Negombo booed out the local MPs and Minister John Amaratunge and Kavinda Jayawardena out of their area, which is a start of a new trend. Perhaps KUM should wait for some time before he puts his pen into paper.

If Got-a-baya ( baya aththa) is such a hero, after running away leaving the army when LTTE was advancing, to pump gas in USA, coming back he should have joined the army again and fought the war from the front. Not using white Van’s to kill and attack media persons. Subsequently claim victory over the war when the war was won by Sarath Fonseka the Commander.

Is it true that Dammika Perera (know little about him except that he’s reputedly now the richest man in Sri Lanka) wants to be President?
    .
Apparently, he’s announced his candidature and said that he’ll have Sarath Fonseka as Defence Minister, Rohan Pallewatte as Finance Minister, and Nagananda Kodituwakku as Justice Minister.
    .
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dhammika_Perera
    .
That’s going to be quite a departure from the traditional elite. Ranil not to contest, but handing over UNP to Dammika Perera?

      Sinhala_Man
How many people in Sri Lanka know Dhammika Perera? A handful in Colombo.
No matter who will contest from the UNP, people will never vote him.
Another 1% vote candidate. 90% of the ordinary majority will never elect a Kalu Sudda or a non-Buddhist as the President.

        Dear Champa,
        .
Most Sri Lankans have heard of Dhammika P, but not as a politician. I used to wonder how he became so rich, so fast. I was suspicious of his scruples. If he gets UNP backing he will definitely be the man for the Rajapaksas to beat. However, once bitten twice shy. People like me accepted My3 on the same sort of trust.
        .
But Sarath Fonseka, is enjoying a huge swell of support.
        .
Many Colombo Telegraph readers were enthusiastic about Nagananda Kodituwakku, but not as President. He may be good as Justice Minister.
        .
I’m so glad that it was you who came up with the first response to what is an important revelation: Wikipedia says that Dhammika Perera and Ranil W. have actually met. For the fourth person named, I suggest you kill two birds with one stone, Champa! You may never have heard of Rohan Pallewatta. Read here about him for the first time as I did a year ago. The same article:
        .
        https://www.colombotelegraph.com/index.php/rohan-pallewatta-man-who-has-proved-that-sri-lanka-can-also-do/
        .
I often read, Dr W.A. Wijewardena’s articles. You acknowledged once that you had never read him. Dr Wijewardena (who visited my Maharagama home purely because he liked my independent comments – just as I value your independence, Champa) is a Horana man just months younger than me, but from a different background. We had Syllabus A and Syllabus B English in our time. I wouldn’t have dreamt of doing anything other than Syllabus A (I got a Credit owing to my then poor spelling). Dr Wijewardena had failed Syllabus B the first time he had sat from his village school in the vicinity of Horana. Now he’s even written novels in English (something I haven’t done!). He’s very sincere and a Buddhist!

          Mr Sinhala Man,
          .
I did not know that the aforementioned Dr Wijewardhana is that close to you :).
          .
Now knowing your close relationship to him, I question myself as to why you stayed mum, at the time, we few of the CT commenters repeatedly raised the question about the bond bank scam to have been reported since 2008.
          :
I myself repeated it on CT and several other platform directing it to Dr Wijewardhana, but he never responded to us.
          :
Incumbent President Siirsena made it very clear that his experts in that speciality let him very know about the bond scams to have been occured since 2008. In numbers it had been reported to be over 1000 billions (that should be then 100 times more than what revealed since 2015 – If Ranil W to be blamed on the bond scams, why Rajaakshes was openly protected that way ?????)
          :
However, Dr Wijewardhana as usual, though brought few articles on the issues, never detailed about the degree of the bond scams under Ajith Kabral. So did his colleague Susiripala (if I am correct both these personalities were retired CB senior professionals).

        Chamapwathiyo@

Enough is enough, I dont think it will matter people not to have gotten Dammika Perera or others, since they just want an unconventional leader to take the lead of the rotten society in order to make a palpable change.
        .
People are now so fed up of conventional politcians and their symobiosis with you the kind of parsites by nature. Wimal weerawanse, Gonthadipila and you the kind of men have taken the society to all appalling levels. I have no idea, if you have got children, grand children or grand grand children within your circles, but from what you have been repeating is clear that you have been under those vicious forces that have all along been destroying this society for your own surivival. Longer the beggar s wound remain, better it will be you the kind of totally abusive to win your bread.
        .
Dont underestimate it again, now we have come to a point that people would have all guts to kill the traditional politicians to the manner they found a snake in their backyards. Such a hatred is growing among them today than any time in the past. The current rule under SIRISENA has paved the way idiotic Rajapakshes to remain scot free even if their records on high crimes (abductions, rapes, extrajudicial kilings, money laundering and and… etc)

Last time in 2015, it was reported no body else, 1 mio of new voters made the change. Even if Balligeputha Rajaakshe never thought of a nemesis that way. Nor did his ball lickers. However, what was not expected was the result. Likewise, this time, in an epoche, where almost any senior men known to them from main grand parties aren JVP are out of their interests. Nor would country s minorities ever be able to face the repeated lies of conventional politicians.

        PART TWO

After that, when I vaguely commented on Pallewatte as a possible Presidential prospect somebody else warned me that he was a Rajapaksa relative, planted as a ploy to mislead us. But this present floating of his name makes me take it much more seriously. I think that we are mature enough not to take one negative reference seriously. The person making it may not even have been bent on mischief and may unwittingly have spoken from inadequate knowledge – or may himself have been taken fro a ride.
        .
Whom do you refer to as a “Kalu Sudda”, Champa? Beware, your English is good! As you know, I’m in one sense very much of a villager, but I am so steeped in Western Culture that I may be thought of as a “Kalu Sudda”, but surely not any of the four people “in this team”. Is Dhammika Perera “a Christian? The name doesn’t really indicate it, nor the school attended. Pallewatte had been in a Catholic School, certainly. Nagananda is definitely from a non-English speaking home: I can tell, and when Grusha Andrews (sometimes brilliant, sometimes naïve) wrote about Nagananda she complained of his lack of elegant English.
        .
I don’t really have to comment on Fonseka’s background, do I?
        .
What is really important is that we don’t have bigots of any religion. I would accept even Imtiaz Bakeer Markar as President – but then I’m abnormal!
        .
One other thing: isn’t there going to be a huge departure here not only in terms of alma maters, but also castes? I don’t know the castes of all these people, but Fonseka is definitely a departure from Goigama.

I think, Champa, that the report has to be taken seriously. For me, it is good news. At last the “liberals” willing to stop being an exclusive Old Boys’ Club.
        .
Myself belonging to a family that has lots of connections (although my life has been different), I can see the significance of the change. Champa, I’m pretty that you yourself have what is conventionally called “a good background”. Subtle hints to others that we are better is what alienates many of the hoi polloi!

If DP has already made it and I will support him from today on tha to any OTHER candidate. I have heard of his name as a very successful entrepreneur. He sounds to have a greater spirit. THe kind of leaders are the need of the hour. We dont want any kind of traditional, vicious men to remain in lanken politics. Youth of th enation should come forward to support an unconventional candidate. The french did it and several other countries have been moving to the direction.

I too believe that NK could be a great minister for justice in a world where almost everything is ruined sofar in the line of justice and law and order.
      .
And so is the case with General Fonseka as the minister of defence. He can also be the minister for law and order, he should be given both… there the gentleman would do it to the top. No doubt about that.
      .
We can also pick up few other good educated men from UNP young blood and not forgetting JVP.

Following members I consider could do a great work for the benefit of the masses in this country (a smaller cabinet of restricting to 20 would have been more than enough with sufficent capable personnel being appointed to each ministries)
      .
      1) Eran Wickramrathna (UNP)
      2)Dr Harsha Silva (UNP)
      3) Ajitha Perera (UNP)
      4)Dr Jayathiassa (JVP)
      5)Ranjan Ramanayaka (UNP)
      6)Gamini Disanayake s youngest son

Dhammika Perera is well known and will handle the economy well – which is most important – if, his views on politics are fair by all citizens. Most importantly, he need not stoop to corruption, nor allow it, as he has sufficient wealth.

I read an article from Shamini Serasinghe, one time staunch supporter of Dr Ranil which was in CT in Dec 2018.

Unlike Dr Kumar , Shamini has given a clear choice to the UNP supporters who care for the Country and its Inhabitants..while calling Dr Ranil a Pig Headed Loser, who did nothing but stuff up the Country big time, in her own words.

In fact, Shamaini sort of predicted the possibility of a disaster although no one could have imagined it would be of the magnitude which the poor Catholic community had to cop.

Shamini says Old Fogies around Dr Ranil , including Dr Ranil must be kicked out
And it is the sooner the better.r.
Shamini’s words in fact were more forceful than mine.
And I can understand , as I realized Shamini is a real patriot Sinhala Buddhist in her own words although she barracks for the UNP..

Shamini is begging the educated younger members to take over the Party.
Among the names which Shamnini has mentioned are Dr Harsha, Eran , Sumanathiran, and a couple of others.
It sounds pretty cool, although I have my reservations .

But what amazes me is how Shamini has not picked Young Sujiya from Colombo 7, Catholic Minister young Harin, Dr Ranil’s nephew Ruwan , Navin , and even Sinhala Buddhist Faction Leader Keselwatta Kid and the all powerful HR lover of Dr Ranil, Managala Samare.

    What a contrast from Dr David’s picks…
BTW , Dr Ranil should have seeked advice to bring him luck from Shamini, instead of begging the Poosaris at Tirupathy..
