Issuing a statement today Samaraweera said “I do not wish to strengthen the enemy by commenting on the other irrelevant personal accusations he and other media institutions championing his cause are levelling against me especially at a time when an extremely decisive Provincial Election has entered its final phase.”

Responding to remarks I made at a news conference on Wednesday, Mr. Sajith Premadasa has issued as usual a vitriolic statement attacking me for ‘challenging’ him. This could not be further from the truth; I merely echoed the view of thousands of UNP activists when I said that his words of total support for our leader in the lead up to the next Presidential election should be matched by his deeds in the weeks ahead.
Hence, it is by no means a challenge that emanates from me. It is a challenge for Mr Sajith Premadasa, to prove his genuine loyalty and sincere commitment to upholding party unity and discipline; that is the expectation of every member of the United National Party.
I do not wish to strengthen the enemy by commenting on the other irrelevant personal accusations he and other media institutions championing his cause are levelling against me especially at a time when an extremely decisive Provincial Election has entered its final phase. That Mr Premadasa has chosen to devote all his venom at me at a time when he should focus on the misdeeds of the UPFA government is indeed sad. We in the UNP are not at war with each other after all. Our battle should be, must be with the Government. Especially so at this moment, when a courageous young Parliamentarian has gone so far as to sacrifice his position to strengthen our party’s fortunes at the Uva elections setting a good example to those of us who are fighting for positions even at the cost of destabilising the party and propping up a corrupt regime.

Did Mngala exceed the mandate from Ranil?
Ranil has better standards than Mangala who is a gutter crawler as a politician.
Ranil and his Govt was destroyed by this same Mangala according to the new Deputy Keselwatta Kid.
This new Deputy appointment may also be a ploy to get rid of Mangala?.
Mangala and his Electronic Dirt Rag have been dispensing utter rubbish, which even the Intelligent Diaspora will struggle to digest.
The constant denigrations, false allegations and vicious personal attacks on inhabitant Politicians, Public servants, Armed Forces and Police Officers who are Sinhala Buddhists have angered the great majority of the inhabitant population in the South.
Will Mangala have the balls to go back to Matara and ask the poor inhabitants there to tick his name even if it is in the UNP ballot paper, after the new deputy has exposed his bad deeds against the Ranil’s short stint in Govt.
It wouldn’t be a surprise if Mangala leaves the UNP.
If he does his only option is to form his own party if he wants to stay in politics.
Most Western countries who support people like Mangala Samaraweera now have political parties which are specific to certain issues and or groups..
Green Party, Gay and Lesbian Party, Marijuana Party area few names which come to mind.

The UPFA will lose a large chunk of its voter base at the Uva PC election says the Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resource Development Rajitha Senaratna.
Speaking to today’s issue of ‘Dinamina’ Minister Senaratna says, “We could get a voter slice of about 58 to 60 percent from Monaragala District while we would get 52 to 53 percent majority in Badulla District.” Minister’s assessment shows they expect a considerable reduction of votes when compared with the number of votes the government received at the earlier elections.
At the provincial election held to Uva in 2009 the UPFA polled 72.39% of the votes. Monaragala had 81.32% of the total number of votes while in Badulla UPFA received 67.79%.
According to Minister Senaratna’s prediction UPFA will lose 23.32% of votes in Monaragala at the election to be held on the 20th while the reduction of votes in Badulla District would be 15.79.

This is like comparing apples and oranges. Indians would worship Gandhi families but srilankens if not you guys, would never even say hello to Premadasa families if knew how the man looted and brutalized the nation in late 80ties.
