President Maithripala Sirisena, who came to power promising change along with good governance, has once again pledged to bring in ‘change’ after May 1.
Sirisena’s latest change will include a new political programme which will include some crucial political decisions. Speaking at an event in Medirigiriya today, the President hinted at bringing in important measures which will also prevent former President Mahinda Rajapaksa coming back to power.
“I will take some decisions which will prevent corrupt forces, who used state powers and assets wrongfully, to regain power back again. I will help protect the democracy and freedom of the people,” Sirisena said.
He also emphasized that he will not leave any room for anyone to commit fraud and corruption by misusing the state assets and if such kind of complaints were received, the law will be imposed against them without considering their status.
Incidentally, Sirisena’s comments comes amidst increasing allegations leveled against him for following Rajapaksa’s nepotistic footsteps. The President’s brother, Kumarasinghe Sirisena is the Chairman of the Sri Lanka and is accused of misusing resources and also for carrying out duties in a unethical manner, while also obtaining approval from the Board for a Rs. 750,000 monthly housing allowance, apart from other benefits. Sirisena’s son, daughter and son-in-law have also being accused of misusing their father’s position for various benefits.

CT; above all, Mr Sirisena is elected president for this nation.
Please therefore display decent pictures of the president, not just placing any pics arbitorily.
I simply feel the picture above looks that CT is not even respecting the president.

Of course, the picture of the Prez displayed here is definitely a comedown and does not reflect good for a country’s Prez and its people. I trusted CT to be an independent media and it baffles me why it has become biased here. CT Administrator, over to you, please.

Its a picture of a happy clown. Brothers, family, friends and supporters in top positions, luxury cars for all those happy MPs. I think its a very suitable picture.

You should be on your head to see that. He is the person who curtailed all the wastages that former bugger continued.
That along saved billions to lanken state. Some respect you should bring from your education.
I think the current president is no lucky to face the current siuttion left by Meeharaka Rajaapskeh who deliberately abused the nation and country due to his inferiority complex issue. Ranil and MY3 will never abuse the state funds tothe manner meeharaka ate out.
/
paul / April 27, 2016
If he wants respect he should earn it. How can you respect a man who appoints his brother SLT chairman within two weeks of gaining power on a No Nepotism agenda?
The meeharaka looted the country. Bodhi Sira is going the same way. For how many years did he study MR’s crooked deals as his minister? He has only had one year, give him some more time and he will prove to be no different to the other thieves who have run the country. As for that spineless moosalaya of a PM….

He was proved himself well trained by Rajapaksa.

Donkely folks of your kind licked his balls on and on. Even today, you go on doing so. Good luck to the island, so called idiots are the majority.

Ivon, since you mentioned how the President looks, I looked again at the picture. CT cannot be blamed. They have published a picture that reflects a hungry nariya. A suggestion for Rajapaksa: take the guy for another aappa feast; promise to stop all your current sabotage; promise him a trouble free Presidency with Daham Sirisena simultaneously as Appointed MP and Prime Minister. All this in exchange for immunity from the consequences of the crimes committed by you and your family. Sirisena will agree immediately. With the parliamentary majority of 2/3rd that will become available under the new disposition, this will so easy to achieve. It will be so easy for Sirisena too. If it was so easy to betray you after the first aappa feast, why will it be difficult to betray Ranil after the 2nd? Mahinda think about it … please! Ha ha ha.

1. Sack my brother from his Rs. 10milion chairmenshi
2. Remove my unelected, unqualified relatives from government office
3. Return the wealth that my family has plundered through illegal activity e.g. Rice mills in polonnaruwa leading to a monopoly, illegal sand mining and quarrying, hotels etc
4. Hold local Govt elections so that the poor edit people can exercise their franchise
5. Investigate the central bank governor

I could not disagree when I read about what you and Ranil had said about VAT!
Good luck after May 01 to both of you!

Thanks for your kindly gesture.
I invited NV to meet me at OZO, which the Yahapalana suckers used to say was Gota’s Hotel in Marine Drive.
In fact asked the chick at the reception . And guess what . Her response was who is Gota !!!
Even now I can meet up with him at the brand new Fair View in Ramakrishna gardens,It is superb and more up the alley of the tight ass Vellalas in the diaspora , with the room rate USD 65 only for a double.
Pittu and Indiappum also in the brekky menu which is free.
You may wonder how I know these places.Unlike NV ,I walk the walk too.
Wellala gardens is now becoming a wahabi Strong hold with almost all new condos being built by them.
Hotels and bakeries are all Whabis. And I love it because Vegen is pretty boring.
As for NV, he is sort of a Federal tragic.
A real federal system where all our inhabitants are divided in to 4 or 5 states with the same population density in each, is sweet for me.
But I can never stomach this underhand dealing of these Yahapalana crooks to give Vellalas a Federal Eelaam which is exclusively for them .
And leave the poor Estate Tamils with us to share ours with the Whabis , Poortens and the Gypsies.
And the Vellala head honchos to still live in Wellala and Cinnamon gardens.

Douglas / April 26, 2016
Mr President: Now enough of talk. Get back to do some work. I still trust you can do some work to turn around the slippery road on to a smooth pathway to every one in the country. At first you said to PM: “ask CB Governor to resign”. He did not do it. Then you found how your own brother started his work at SLT and what he is doing there today. You did not do anything. Then you saw how PM appointed his school mates from no where to manage a huge cancerous Airline. You kept mum. Then you saw how certain appointments were made to Foreign Missions. You kept silent. Then by yourself, you took the initiative to appoint those “Rejects” by the voters to Parliament and went on to appoint them to the Cabinet and still does not seem to be stopping even after staking 91 Minsters and Deputies. Also when a Cabinet Minister appointed his own brother who did not qualify by any standards to be the Chairman of the Port, you had to keep your mouth “Shut”, because you did the same thing much earlier. You allowed that Sajin Vas – the main culprit of all the corruption and swindling of the previous regime to roam around the country under the PROTECTION of elite personnel who protect the VVIP. Now he is seen sitting on stage and attending meetings with senior members of your own party, participating in organizing May Day rallies. During the visit to Jaffna, you, yourself saw the conditions viz the structural frame of those houses to be built for the innocent, displaced people, but what have you done about it? What has happened to all those 22 cases the FCID had finalized investigations and sent to AG. Have you inquired from the Minister of Justice what the present situation as regards those cases. Have you ever inquired or summoned the Minster of Justice to discuss those issues and at least “Instruct” him to come up with a plan to “expedite” those cases and bring the culprits to book. If the Minister of Justice cannot come up with a “plan” or some “suggestions” to solve those matters, are you ready to get rid of him? I doubt it, because if you cannot sack you won brother who is utterly unfit for the job, how can you do that to a Minister of your Cabinet. This list of FAILURES could be written in volumes.
So Mr. President, if we are to take you very seriously on your PROMISES and place TRUST on your capabilities, please get going with the TASK of establishing YAHAPALANAYA; but please not the type you are functioning at the moment. If not you will be “Unspoken” history of this country.

The best change for Sri Lanka would be if My3 removes himself from the post of President (most have forgotten that he promised to do away with EP within his 100 day program).
Yes, My3’s promises are nothing but promises only. Don’t take him too seriously about what he utters.
/
JJ / April 26, 2016
Promises, promises! We have heard this mantra before, so if he is serious (for starters) let him prove it by initiating investigations (by a credible panel/commission) pertaining to the allegations against his brother Kumarasinghe – AND getting him to step down until the investigation is concluded.
Maybe we could then have some confidence that some epiphany has occurred to actually change the “promises like pie-crust” president.

Present government undertaken to eliminate all sort of corruption from the legislative council, public and private sector. If so why delaying of UN introduced anti corruption bill to the parliament. Next why they have failed to bring new legislation to chck the individual transparency and accountability regarding their income and expenditures concerned. Secondly, government can make strong mechanism to check and audit peoples assets and wealth periodical by a set of honest officers . Thirdly re structure public administration in such a manner to execte public requirements without any delay and without wasting valuable times of the public. Fourthly introduce legislation requiring that politician must have certain standard of education qualification and/or persons who became success and thereby such persons who have rendered valuble volunteer services to the nation. If the present government has any interests of fulfilling foregoing important this we all could see that mother Lanka will come up among other developed nations.

My3,
“I will take some decisions which will prevent corrupt forces, who used state powers and assets wrongfully, to regain power back again. I will help protect the democracy and freedom of the people,”
Come on we have heard this many times. You made a solemn promise you will never appoint any of the crooks who were with Rajapakse and who stole the wealth of this country. But you not only gave appointment to Rajapakse to contest (from Kurunegala) but gave many of his crooks, ministerial posts in your cabinet.
You spoke against Rajapakse’s mega-cabinet of ministers and then what did you do? You too did the same and so accepting Rajapakse was right in having a large cabinet. Same with the Port City and relations with China and so you have now accepted Rajapakse was right.
Speak with deeds my dear not with words. Your deeds go well ahead to speaking out loud and clear Rajapakse was right.
You are simply a Rajapakse ‘duplicate’ copying what he has done but criticizing him. We all can see through the huge cracks and there is no point pretending. Hand back power to the ‘originals’ and jump into the grave you dug for him.
If you want to survive bury the ghost (Rajapakse) that is haunting you. I too hate him!
/
Wera / April 26, 2016
So in a round about way is he implying that he is the architect of the foot dragging in the corruption and murder cases against the Rajapakshes. When Mahinda’s minions go to Sirisena and whisper all sorts of nonsense about guarantees to party loyalty in exchange for leniency did he actually believe them and act on their promises until now? What is the significance of May 1st? Is he waiting for final proof on the list of double crosses before acting? My dear Sirisena if any of this is true then you are a very naive man. Did you not hear the tale about not keeping snakes on your lap.
