Namal Senasinghe, the elder brother of Deputy Minister Sujeewa Senasinghe has claimed that President Maithripala Sirisena has slept on his bed.

Senasinghe, who shot to limelight today after he abused a diner, Shaminda Herat at a star class restaurant over the weekend said in response to the video uploaded by Herat, “What this idiot did not know was Maithripala Sirisena used my Kandy house for his campaign. He slept on my bed.” According to Senasinghe, Herat had been bragging about Sirisena.
Namal Senasinghe, a doctor by profession also went on to further criticize the minorities in the country by trying to justify his comments where he told Herat that he (Senasinghe) was a Sinhala Buddhist and Sri Lanka was a Sinhala Buddhist nation, in spite of Senasinghe himself living in England for some 20 years. It is believed Senasinghe had assumed Herat was a Muslim as he was sporting a beard.
“The people who are criticizing this are from a certain community, and they cannot swallow the fact that this is a Sinhala Buddhist country. Wake up. These guys cannot enter the west now. So swallow the pride and live in harmony in Sri Lanka,” Senasinghe said in response to the video after members of the public including Sinhalese, Muslims and Tamils took to social media to protest against Senasinghe’s racist utterance. In particular Muslims took on Senasinghe, which resulted in him continuing to carry out his tirade against the community.
However, just hours after making various comments on Herat’s post, including where he even went on to claim that Herat was a criminal, Senasinghe appeared to have deleted his comments.
Colombo Telegraph is in possession of print screens of Senasinghe’s comments. Senasinghe’s Facebook profile was deactivated and his response which was initially available on his official website was also deleted.

Govt should take actions against any one that make public statments with racial contents. If Germany, Italy and other countries and their law and order could bring the kind of men to silence, why not us the srilanken.

what truth. The whole island never belonged to the Sinhalese. Only the west south and central parts. The north east and the north west coast had always been Tamil. Just because the British amalgamated the Sinhalese and Tamils parts of the island in 1833 to created a new colony called Ceylon and made the Eelam Tamil nation that was then a 100% majority in the north and east a minority in the whole island and the Sinhalese who were confined to the south a majority in the whole island , does not make the entire island yours.
Sri Lanka south may be Sinhalese and Buddhist but Eelam is Tamil and Hindu. England is the land of the English not Britain. Britain is the land of the English Scottish and Welsh got it. Your claim to the whole of the island as Sinhalese is as ludicrous as this.

You need to remember that the present government came into power on the back of a minority votes for your brother to become a minister and be able to use his name to instil fear in this chap. Yet, you play the racist card to prove your might.
Firstly, you are a foreigner in this country, as you have given up your citizenship and gained a British Citizenship. If you truly, want to give something back to your so called motherland, please surrender your British Passport and take up a SL Passport. I do not want to get into the middle of a controversy with emotion.
We all know that in any British colony, they used their own flag for each of the colonies. The top left quadrant is the Union Jack. The usual background is Blue. In then British-Ceylon the rest of the flag consisted of the elephant and the Dagoba (Buddhist shrine). In that context, did even the Britisher recognize this as a Buddhist Land? Over to you dear readers to give your own interpretation to a fact.
What is important is ethnic and religious harmony in any given country. Even in UK where Christianity in the form of Church of England is part of the state, if there is no ethnic or religious harmony it cannot prosper. There would always be some disorder. Same is true for Sri Lanka. What we should promote and nurture is mutual self respect of all our countrymen irrespective of its rich diversity. Have not a 30 years of war full of bomb-blasts awakened our senses of reality? We must be a set of proud Sri Lankans.
