‘Maithripala Sirisena Slept On My Bed’ Says Sujeewa Senasinghe’s Brother Namal

Namal Senasinghe, the elder brother of Deputy Minister Sujeewa Senasinghe has claimed that President Maithripala Sirisena has slept on his bed.

Senasinghe, who shot to limelight today after he abused a diner, Shaminda Herat at a star class restaurant over the weekend said in response to the video uploaded by Herat, “What this idiot did not know was Maithripala Sirisena used my Kandy house for his campaign. He slept on my bed.” According to Senasinghe, Herat had been bragging about Sirisena.

Namal Senasinghe, a doctor by profession also went on to further criticize the minorities in the country by trying to justify his comments where he told Herat that he (Senasinghe) was a Sinhala Buddhist and Sri Lanka was a Sinhala Buddhist nation, in spite of Senasinghe himself living in England for some 20 years. It is believed Senasinghe had assumed Herat was a Muslim as he was sporting a beard.

“The people who are criticizing this are from a certain community, and they cannot swallow the fact that this is a Sinhala Buddhist country. Wake up. These guys cannot enter the west now. So swallow the pride and live in harmony in Sri Lanka,” Senasinghe said in response to the video after members of the public including Sinhalese, Muslims and Tamils took to social media to protest against Senasinghe’s racist utterance. In particular Muslims took on Senasinghe, which resulted in him continuing to carry out his tirade against the community.

However, just hours after making various comments on Herat’s post, including where he even went on to claim that Herat was a criminal, Senasinghe appeared to have deleted his comments.

Colombo Telegraph is in possession of print screens of Senasinghe’s comments. Senasinghe’s Facebook profile was deactivated and his response which was initially available on his official website was also deleted.NamalNamal Senasinghe

Is he a dual citizen? If not how did the medical council issue him a license to practice at Nawaloka as he claims in his online post? Just asking.

If our media was awake and educated these are the questions that have to be answered.

License to practice? In his cameo performance, he showed some definite signs of bipolar disorder. What the poor doctor needs is urgent medical help himself. If I were a patient of his (and thankfully, I am not) I would opt to suffer than be treated.

For those expecting an apology, you will need to wait long. The doctor doesn’t think that he has transgressed. He pleads that old chestnut “Doctor is always right”.

    @Trinity Boy ,

If only you knew how much more there are especially among doctors , if you can bug the restrooms especially in government hospitals and if you are a Muslim and poor you will rather die of illness than visit a government hospital ,in fact you would become so paranoid that even if someone is willing to pay ,you will not want to see a doctor of the same race even in a private hospital .

The truth is today Racism is more discreet ,but definitely remains the same as earlier a bit more against the Muslims ,because of this irrational conclusion that Muslims helped the change of government .

During the Rajapakshe’s regime it was open , as he was voted with that one agenda by his voters , instil fear in the hearts of Muslims-but the good side was , he was more an honest racist , fearless and did it with an iron fist, he proved he would go to any extend to fulfil his and his voters agenda ,by inviting The Burmese monk to Sri Lanka .

    Conclusion:
For the general population of the Muslims in Sri Lanka it seems , head or tales his situation will be the same, except for those who are (“filthy” rich- ill gotten wealth )

    Namal Senasinghe,
Coming from a Sinhala Buddhist country, ( to use your own Quote), one would expect restraint , and a bit of tolerance , on your part if one was to go by Buddhist precepts.By uttering Sinhala Buddhist country you’ve only managed to dig a deeper hole for yourself from which you are struggling to get out of at the moment . Time to just apologize and move on good doctor.Another thing mentioning the school you went to, The President , your brother and your doctoral credentials only makes it worse. People don’t buy this S..t any more.

@Rodger Dodger , well worded. good comment , best , hope The Doctor will swallow his ego and as a Buddhist understand the importance of always fighting the ego and prove he is only human to error , but he still can be gentleman enough to make an apology.

This is the sort of behaviour you would expect from a segment of our political class and their many spoiled offspring. We had expected a higher standard of discipline, and rather better behaviour from those of our professional class.

But the genie is out of the bottle now and nothing will repair the irreparable damage to his character and reputation. Most people, particularly his closest friends may forgive him. But the world is less forgiving. This transgression lays bare the true man, and that is not easily forgotten. He has let down himself, his profession, his school, and most of all his family.

    A sad day for all.

What an ignorant nincompoop. A bus con”doctor” will have more class and aptitude than this low life who probably licks the boot of the English Man for his supper in his adopted motherland. Sri Lanka belongs to its citizens. Not to any race or religion you ignoramus.

He says he was educated privately and also told the person he exchanged words with that this was a Sinhala Buddhist country. He should be a shamed to drag Trinity College name. This so called doctor should be kicked out Sri Lanka to go live in the UK where his behaviour will not be tolerated and will face action from the Race Relations board. He could be even kicked of his job.

      Ricky, and others.

Every now and then the system throws up a lemon. Dr Namal is one; What to do?

Notwithstanding all the privileges he has had, this Doctor exhibits all the characteristics of a ‘godaya’. AND, he shows sign of bipolar disorder.

HE dragged his brother into the argument.

      HE touted his family ‘credentials’.

HE trumpeted his school (what is a staunch Bauddha-Sinhala boy doing in a good Church of Ceylon school?)

HE shouts to remind us that we are in a ‘Bauddha-Sinhala’ country. I half-expected Gnanasara to pop up shouting ‘sadhu, sadhu, sadhu’. How proud must the Noble One be. Dr Namal and Gnanasara telling it like it is.

HE invokes his ‘British’ citizenship. (They let anyone in these days).

HE, Dr Namal, would do well to contemplate that the decent people of ‘Buddhist’ Sri Lanka will NOT miss him for one minute when he goes. AND, the suffering people of Brexit Britain will not miss him either. In fact, many of them may well chant “Good Riddance”. But you know what, for all the doctor’s big mouth he will not give up Britain. Do not forget, HE willingly gave up Mother Lanka to go and work for twenty years for the ‘white-man (and all who sail with him). Suck! Suck! Suck!

HE Dr Namal must now live with the fact that his reputation has been tarnished by losing his cool, and showing his temper, to the taunts of someone who he claims is, in short, a ‘half-past-six-bugger’.

HE must know, that anybody anywhere who googles ‘Dr Namal’ will get a full case history.

A sad case of ‘Dostara Karaya Malla.’

      Aney, Aiyooo!

As a Muslim I will not take offence in any sinhala buddhist referring Sri Lanka as a Sinhala Buddhist Country and why not ? Most Muslim & Christian populated countries which are Secular by constitution are considered by Muslims & Christians as muslim and Christian Countries and what about India? soon after the Bombay Riots ,a lot of Hindus were referring to India as a Hindu state . (not the hind hindu, but meaning by Hindu religion )

None of us are perfect. When we do not follow the Buddhist precepts This is what happens to us. Whether we like it or not, unfortunately, all being have an element of clannism, racism within us. Education and religion help us to overcome them. Parents and school contribute to making us better people. Post-independence these values have not been instilled in a manner that one would expect from an objective point of view. We need to look at teachings of Gandhi, Anagarika Dramapala. There was no racism in what they said. It’s for individuals to fight the bad within us and acknowledge that we can sometimes be wrong. Strive to correct ourselves and become better beings. Namal I know him personally. Not a bad person has a lot of good. When you take a bottle of aerated water one has to wait till the gas go off to enjoy it. It’s just huff and puff underlie uncalled for due to the spirit level and the inner man’s emotions getting better of him. We are all born good beings. We acquire the bad and we struggle in life to retain good and discard the bad. Hence we as fellow citizens must help him to do it. We failed with Mahinda. Passing judgment is easy. Being tolerant and assisting change is better.

      Dear upali jayatilaka,

It may be that you are a good and kindly person, and it also may be that you are sincere in wanting to help this doctor guy get better. However, I consider this misplaced kindness. If the guy repents, shows some remorse, yes, let’s forgive.

If not, why not find some worthier person whom you can help.

What is most interesting of this entire episode is, although he comes from a refined family , educated and a Doctor by profession , first and foremost his hidden prejudice and bigotry was exposed and further it went on to prove he was so blinded by his bigotry that he could not even recognise that his opponent was from his own ethnic and religion.

We are all to a great extend very begotten off our parents , but we,each and everyone of us are uniquely, for better or worse, are all different ,not even identical twins have the same mindset.

To hold responsible family members of someone who has offended or done wrong , will be like hanging the wrong twin for a murder he or she never committed.

Education , profession , family lineage , wealth or Political status does not make a man , remembering ladies are born and gentlemen are made, each man must learn through his own life experience , all what we hear , no matter from whom, parents , family , peers from our local school , religious priests , the media and even what our own minds sometimes suggests , are all like the ocean ,when one looks at the ocean only apart of it comes to their view , so it is with everything you hear and imagine , until you are willing to go after the truth ,investigate and listen to all sides of the story , you can not assume anything is the truth .

To assume something is true merely by listening to one side of the story is one of the meanest form of cruelty and injustice anyone can cause to a human and it is such men and women who are today responsible for the separation of families ,friends , and causing much miseries to humanity .

Remember what goes around comes around , so be careful when you accuse, slander and scandalize irresponsibly ,it may come back on you in many many folds one day .
