Maithripala Sirisena Snubbed In Parliament, Sudharshini Routed By Kumarasiri In Deputy Speaker Vote

President Maithripala Sirisena suffered a resounding humiliation when his designated choice for the vacant Deputy Speaker post, Sudharshini Fernandopulle was defeated by the candidate put forward by the United National Party, J.M. Ananda Kumarasiri.

Kumarasiri, received 97 votes while Fernandopulle got only 53 votes. One vote was rejected. The Joint Opposition backed Fernandopulle while the TNA and JVP abstained. The UNP had decided to put forward Kumarasiri when the party’s Working Committee met yesterday (June 4).

Mahinda Rajapaksa, Namal Rajapaksa and Chamal Rajapaksa were conspicuously absent when the vote was taken.

      President Maithripala Sirisena,

“President Maithripala Sirisena suffered a resounding humiliation when his designated choice for the vacant Deputy Speaker post, Sudharshini Fernandopulle was defeated by the candidate put forward by the United National Party, J.M. Ananda Kumarasiri.”

“Mahinda Rajapaksa, Namal Rajapaksa and Chamal Rajapaksa were conspicuously absent when the vote was taken.”

Can you count? You can fool some of the people some of the time, but not all the people all the time, even if their mean IQ is 79.

I respect you Amarasiri more today you wer one who attacked loudly as you could at the time, we thought it was not Mr Sirisena but someone else made him reacted so.
Now he is caught by acts, he is no clean at all as we thought or guessed at.

He does th e job Murderous to be back and ruin the nation again.

He has the powers even today within his EP, to lock up Rajaakshe for all the high crimes he was complacent… I mean Alone THAT Thadjdeen case can ruin Rajapkshe from the vicious politics.

He can give the order to Sirasa to DO THE JOB… and reveal the nation how HIGH crimes the Rajapakshes deliberately made.

In the same time, Mr Sirisena can win the hearts and minds of people that way.
He thinks UNP would overtake… that is where the uneducated or insufficiently educated MAN broughtup on a village sees it.
World leaders tend to Ranil but he could also do the job proplery not having bought AH to CB. That he should have studied before.

Today the name is damaged, but STILL we can see it further THAT good men can still come forward to lead the nation.

Sudharshini worships statues – against the second most important of the Ten Commandments – so the God of Abraham will not help her.

      Forget Sirisena for a minute

A huge friend of Sri Lanka Queen’s Counsel Sir Desmond De Silva who was also married into British Royal Family has Passed Away (78).

A man with “impeccable credentials” maybe part of British establishment who relentlessly hunted down war criminal Taylor was hired by the Clan to deny war crime in Sri Lanka.

    Dear, Maithiri Srisena,
Are you not ashamed of you. It is you who decided to go against Mahinda. Now only Mahinda is backing you.? Who is Mahinda? According to you, Mahinda & Co (current JO) tried to kill you many times. Why you are still be hanging on power if you don’t want to continue with the government of UNP & SLFP? It appears that you are the barrier to take action against the crimes against humanity under Rajapakse regime.

      A.
MS is a farce and total failure. He is basically a cunning opportunist with no principles. Intellectually and politically he is a looser. Time for him to retire from politics and become a MONK if that is possible.
The country is in very poor shape politically and economically. It’s time for a younger generation of political leadership.
It’s time that all the political parties had open leadership conventions to elect new party leaders and then a general election for a new parliament.
The same old same old does is not “working”.

Now all out war….! President foolishly threw all caution to the wind and started attacking his Yahapalanaya partner. The ‘crafty fox’ lurking in the shadows must be thinking that this will lead to a quick general election. Was all this pre-planned to get the UNP to retaliate and to escalate the rift between them?

The title “Maithripala Sirisena Snubbed In Parliament, Sudharshini Routed By Kumarasiri In Deputy Speaker Vote” is harsh. One side wins in voting but that is no snub.
Sudharshini is very smart and deserves to go up the ladder.
TNA abstained but had they voted for Sudhashini, the outcome would have been the same.
But what happened to the seventy five odd absentees? Mahinda, Namal, Chamal were absent. They do not like upstarts particularly smart ones!

As much as Sirisena is highly detestable my preference is for Sudharshini for the position as she is more capable. The other candidate is not of the same caliber.

      Pervy the pathetic

“The other candidate is not of the same caliber.”

Did both nominees sit for examination?
Did you interview both for the post after the examination?

Why the hell do you bull all the time?

So the people that were not willing to bribe Sudharshini for supporting Sillysena’s back door NCM against PM voted against her.
No surprise there given that the NCM did not get anywhere either.

Oh where did your balls go, Silly Sena?
Tell me, where did your testicles go?
Are they near, are they far,
Do you know where they are,
Where oh where did your testicles go?

Tell me where is your manhood,Patholaya?
Did you wake up with morals today?
    You hate racism, but…
    And the Jackass is—what,
Textbook racist, but kind of okay?

Do you long to speak plainly, back boneless—
Call the Jackass a Jackass for once?
    Proclaim, look! a creep who

And who grabs any slow-to-dodge cunts?

Ranil did to Sudharshini what he did to Deva, Karuna, Pillaiyan, and Attanayake…… Ranil helped them to build up; Old Royals converted them by force into rebels. So, they ended up taking lesson from Ranil.
One should know there is strong talk of Old Royals coming back, so even Ponny has said he will not accept Law and Order Minister Post if it is given to him now. This woman can do nothing on her accord, but just have to dance not one of their music, but to music of them at one. These days, her entire day’s prayer would be that she doesn’t want to be a politician’s wife in her next birth.
Kathirgamar, Sriskandarajah, Maheswarn, Raviraj and this family faced almost same problem. These prominent politicians (Husbands) were killed because they were not considered faithful to Old Royals.
Kathirgamar family was silenced by Ranil, it seems.
Sriskandarajah family has simply shutoff to anyone and everything.
Vijayakala lost the war but strictly stayed in husband’s line.
Raviraj Family faced end with Sinhala Only Jury Verdict. Sooner or later, forgetting their loss, they will have to go on their life
This family turned out to be helpless. They have no designated race. If they are Sinhalese they could have acted like Hirunika’s mother or Sandhya. They are not in that list either. She was simply ordered to forget about the death and work for the party. If she had not chosen that end, she may have seen her life’s end. It is hard to one to imagine for one that on her own she selected this stray group to hand around. Pavitra was confused of what to do at the start, but soon made the decision and join the Old Royals. It appears, this woman made a mistake and has no opening now to escape, so surrendered completely.

President Sirisena was on a self-destructive course for the last one year or so. A year ago he was seen as a simple and honest Head of State, but no more. His recent accusations and innuendos against his own Prime Minister was seen as petty behaviour unworthy of a President. Sirisena should not forget the fact that he owes Ranil Wickremesinghe his job. There is widespread perception that he is shielding Gotabhaya Rajapaksa whom he considers a war hero. At this rate he will not have even a ghost of a chance of winning the next presidential election. As for the TNA, R.Sampanthan’s decision to stage a walk out cannot be justified. Sudharshini Fernando is not a member of the SLFP. She along with 15 others are sitting in the opposition benches.

Sirisena should resign he is making a mess of everything. He is in the doldrums and unable to find answers to the problems of the country, and with his brother at the telecom head he is taking revenge like the Rajapaksas .

The Prime Minister who always brags about giving equal opportunities to women, shamelessly denied a decision making position and a leadership opportunity to a woman Parliamentarian!!!!!
    .
There are two issues here. 1. Gender issue 2. The democratic deficit in the Parliament.
    .
It was make known prior to the vote that Sudarshani’s name would be proposed to the post of Deputy Speaker. If the Prime Minister was genuine about women’s rights and equal opportunities, he would not have proposed a male from UNP against Sudarshani.
    .
On the other hand the Speaker and the Deputy Speaker both coming from the same party is undemocratic and against all norms. As the Speaker is from UNP, the Deputy Speaker post should have been offered to SLFP/UPFA unanimously.
    .
PM can still correct the blunder by asking the UNP MP elected as the Deputy Speaker to step down so that Sudarshani can take over. Walk the talk Mr. Prime Minister.

You cannot give a responsible post to an unsuitable woman just to ensure gender equality. She voted in favour of the NCM against Ranil and you expect Ranil to reward her for that. Are you crazy?

      • 0
        6

        Goviya
Since when the Parliament consider suitability of Parliamentarians based on gender? She is not a UNPer to follow Ranil’s orders.
The post of Deputy Speaker is not a “reward” by Ranil, the rogue. He blatantly breached the Parliamentary democracy by having both posts to UNP.
What suitability are you talking about? If the judiciary and the AG’s department are independent, then Ranil should be in jail by now for masterminding and robbing the Central Bank. Moreover there is a statement by a TNA MP of receiving bribes from the government to keep their mouths shut.
This is UNP’s last chance in power.

    • 2
      1

      Mere Champa,
If Rajapakses also doubt Sudarshanis bonafides why UNP should support her.Just because she is a woman, she does not automatically eligible to sit as the Deputy Speaker.Last time she believed in Sirisena and lost her Deputy Ministerial post. This time she lost believing Sirisena her chances.of becoming deputy speaker.

        Hare Sumathieeee

It is not Mahinda or Sirisena. UNP having both the Speaker and the Deputy Speaker posts is not right. I have nothing in particular about Sudarshani. She was the only other person proposed to the post. Tyranny is always short lived. If Ranil contested for Presidency, UNP will be defeated by UNPers themselves. He knows he can’t win, that is why he is pushing 20A through Anura, the lapdog.

          0

Do you expect UNP to appoint Sudarshani as deputy speaker.
While in the government Dirty Dozen plus four scheming against Ranil. Could you believe Ranil to consent such a scheming woman to sit as Deputy Speaker. . She would have block many actions on the secret Advice of Mahinda. G R O B R

Wow. I sent a comment to another place saying that the appointment of the Deputy Speaker too from the UNP is a breach of Parliamentary democracy as the Speaker also from UNP itself. Now that new item is inaccessible.
As I said, soon CT will become the only forum for alternative views and fair criticism. If CT is also blocked, I don’t know about others but the only option for me will be going to the street and make the tyrannical government and the top duo very sorry.
      .
The biggest harm done to Mahinda was blocking Colombo Telegraph by Gotabhaya. He was shielded from seeing the real picture. Mahinda is a politician. He should know what people think about his government, his Ministers and his own actions. It was even customary to our Sinhalese kings to tour cities in disguise to see how citizens are fairing. Today websites like CT carry people’s opinion irrespective of party, colour, ethnicity or religion. Long life to you, CT.

I am not in agreement with recent actions of MY3. It appears to me that MY3 knew that his nominee would fail. But there is one thing he did not know and wanted to know through an experiment. The pattern of voting. Sudarshani Fernandopulle was the guinea pig. So I see know reason to elate at the event and gloat that MY3 is lost.

After putting in much effort and doing a lot of diligent research, I have at last figured out what is the problem with our esteemed President Maithripala Sirisena.
It is quite simple – He has an IQ of about 60-65 points.

When MS was elected as president though I was sceptic , my nonagenarian mom insisted that he is honest and will do the right thing for the country. Given the past history and actions of MS I was convinced of the outcome. And it turned out to be total disaster and a failure which is much worse than I anticipated. Not a surprise. After all the past history, actions and deeds tells a lot about a politician, which cannot be easily disguised. MS is nothing but a true Lankan politician just like the rest who were before him, currently with him and ones budding for future. In the mean time Rajapaksas are playing Trumps game. They own only success and failures are disowned.Pretty simple.

Positions for women were envisaged on a percentage basis for p’mentary and prov coun elections. When there is only one position in issue it’s not the gender that counts but internal strength and dynamics in p’ment. So Sudharshani being a woman hardly matters. It’s time now for Ranil to more than walk the talk to take the bull by the horns especially with Sirisena showing irreducible signs of being a Sillysena. Sudharshani will not find it comfortable in the speaker’s chair with SLFP in the convoluted position of being in both govt and opp’n.

PS: our Jim (soft in the head) Softy wont like her becs she is a Catholic.

Survival in politics is now a refined activity in which most of our so-called representatives in parliament spend most of their time.
Most of the corrupt ones survive, thanks to corrupt supportive bureaucrats – for example, like Austin Fernando, who sent the Bond Commission report to the Archives to prevent the names of those who benefited monetarily from Aloysius, becoming public.
Sirisena knows that his days as president are coming to an end.
He will Dance even with the Devil, to survive.

Why should the Deputy Speaker necessarily got to be in a party other than the Speaker’s? There is no rationale in this. They are not going to sit on the Chair together at the same time? With Sira going potty and heading for the nuthouse those who advance such argument are also heading in that direction.

I find it hilarious , you can call me naive, I saw an article of some party accusing the Tamil Party for voting for their choice.I thought that is what elections are about. More than anything I myself can not keep a track on which member belongs to which party. It is like the weather report, you have to find out on a daily basis whether there is any change taken place overnight. You have some in SLFP, SLPP, JO and some of them in all of these according to their wish????? Then you have absent vote, cross voting, double voting so on so forth.Sorry guys at my age it is too cumbersome. I wonder how 80 years and above politicians including Sampathan will be knowing. Good Luck.

Sudarshini like most has been a “all party member”. I guess quite a lot of them have represented every party including SLFP , SLPP, JO, UNP………etc…..etc.I dont think they them self will know what party they are in and what party they may represent in future. Why bother?????? This is Srilanka for you. To be honest I cannot come up with any other country which is anywhere close to current Lankan political circus.

Why were Mahinda R, Namal R and Chamal R absent? Was it because Sudharshini is Catholic and part-time Tamil?
