A crowd of protesters are camped outside the Chief Justice’s official residence for the last two days have come out on to one lane of Baudhdhaloka Mawatha.
Kiribath (Milk rice) is being cooked outside CJ’s house. CJ and family are inside the premises. Politicians and celebrating mobs are expected there after vote in parliament.
“One hopes nothing chaotic and ugly will happen after celebration” a concern citizen told Colombo Telegraph. “We’re on the eve of the official crossing from democracy to a dictatorship” she further said.
“After yesterday’s incidents it was clear that the government is willing to resort to extra judicial acts and therefore we fear for the life and property of the Chief Justice” J.C. Weliamuna of the Lawyers Collective told Colombo Telegraph.

It is such a shame the official residence of the CJ should be subject to such disgraceful and troglodyte behaviour. The last occupant was said to have housed a notorious criminal within, who happened to be a broker and who had addressed some visiting judges as “I say”
The present CJ does not have much to complain of. She slept with the dogs and now cannot complain there are ticks all over her body.

Now he is celebrating with the complainants in front of her residence ! I feel sorry for Chief Justice Shirani Bandaranaike. She should not be humiliated in this way.
The fact that she dragged the judiciary and the legal profession into this unwanted conflict with the government is no reason for the pro-government goons to humiliate her in this way.
Whatever her faults are, she is the Chief Justice of this country. Under constitutional convention, as Chief Justice she ranks third in the hierarchy just behind the President and Prime Minister. Her office should be respected.
I hope the President should put an immediate end to this thuggery and save her from further humiliation. As head of the executive it is his duty to give protection to Chief Justice Shirani Bandaranaike and ensure that no one humiliates her even after she is sacked. She is a lady who has held the highest judicial position in Sri Lanka.

Don’t know why so many people appealing to the President to stop thuggery in the country! In my opinion he is the one who is leading all this thuggery, and coming up with new plans. Otherwise why would he call all these MP goons to his place for a meeting, and insruct them to sign a petition and guide them what to do. Even at this last minute, a law abiding president would not allow thugs to harrass the CJ in her residence. If he cannot act to protect the dignity of Sri Lanka in the face of the world, what kind of a monkey do we have for a president. We find such ones in our henas on a stick to scare the crows. But everyone knows that he is n’t one such strawman. He has the power and capability but uses it for wrong reasons and through wrong modes, taking th law into his own hands like Hitler and mobilising people through lawlessness and anarchy: concerted anarchy by the leader. It is a terrible inheritance for the unsuspecting, even shall I say for the nieve Sri Lankan. They have the legacy and repeat of the dark ages of Jayawardana, Premadasa, and now Rajapaksha, who does not want to be outsmarted by Prabhakaran in their cruelty and lawlessness and contempt of law and order and justice.
