Mr President, Hang Him Or He Will Hang You

By Granville Perera

President Rajapaksa’s attempt to re-enter high office through parliament spells doom for the fragile coalition that has evolved after the Presidential elections of 2015. Prime Minister, Ranil Wickremesinghe probably doesn’t command the majority in parliament as is evident from the 114 signatories to the John Amaratunga no confidence motion presented by the UPFA. This probably is the beginning of the end of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinge’s short-lived premiership and dissolution of parliament is inevitable. A section of the SLFP and leftist parties of the UPFA would propel Mahinda Rajapaksa to make his bid for the next premiership.

Mahinda MatugamaRemember, President Rajapaksa is a street fighter who would not rest until he has finished you off, for being the traitor that he considers you to be, for eating his hoppers and betraying. You may both be rural boys, but the game he would play is no Elle. He knows to play only with fire when you would, at the most consider throwing a pebble.

President Rajapaksa cannot live without the pomp and pageantry of high office that he got used to during the last 10 years. He had 3000 crack commandos guarding him not because he genuinely felt the threat to his life, but like every dictator, this was his form of intimidating everyone around him. From a lovable character to a monster, is what he turned out to be during his two-term presidency, and it is not just for himself that he amassed such brutal power and wealth, but also for his entire family. The greedy Basil Rajapaksa amassed all the wealth for the family, the violent Gotabaya Rajapaksa became the most feared killer, the playboy Namal Rajapaksa had all the young chicks under his Nil Balakaya to fill his modern day harem and the trigger hungry Yoshitha Rajapaksa adorned the naval ribbons, medals, badges and pins which no other mortal could have worn in his rank and the little Chicchi brat who drove around in illegally imported best brand motor vehicles in races where no one else should win. 10 years of such pleasure cannot be given up, not because of a usurper from Polonnaruwa as he considers you to be. What he failed in his attempted coup would be achieved in the next election, unless you ensure that Sri Lanka will not have the repeat of his curse.

The casino kings, drug and ethanol dealers who thrived during his presidency would propel him to the premiership with the support of the bootlicking leftist stooges who cannot survive without the ministerial privileges they enjoyed during the last 10 years of the Rajapaksa presidency. It is disgraceful that a son of Phillip Gunawardena, the ‘Lion of Boralugoda’ (‘Boralugoda Sinhaya’) too has become a kitten in the Rajapaksa home.

The threat to the current presidency of Sirisena is real and Mahinda Rajapaksa certainly has the capacity to act decisively. His brutal ability and craving for absolute power was well exposed when he got General Sarath Fonseka arrested and carried out of his abode by petty soldiers, who would not have dared to stand in front of him only a few weeks before. What was his crime? He was harbouring deserters from the Army. Today, Mahinda Rajapaksa could be charged for harbouring a naval deserter in Yoshitha Rajapaksa. The same yardstick could be used to charge him for the same crime as Sarath Fonseka. Is president Sirisena chickening out because of the huge fear he had of his dictator, when he was Mahinda Rajapaksa’s General Secretary. No, Mr President, you wield the same powers as he did, and your firm resolve to act will save yourself from the gallows that would be in store for you, should you not act decisively.

The people of this land did not vote you because you had the ability to govern us out of the tyranny that was unleashed by the Rajapaksa clan, but because you became the symbol of change. Ranil Wickremesinghe who has the ability to get the country on the road to recovery would never have been a winner.

It is time that you pulled out the real files of the Rajapaksa clan and cleansed this country of their brutal era – for good. It is time that the platform promises of bringing the corrupt and plundering Rajapaksas’ to justice are delivered by you. Failure to act now will make you face the possibility of becoming a lame duck president held hostage by a hostile parliament under Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa. Even if he doesn’t win a majority, he will, with his ill gotten wealth buy over crossovers, as he did in his last term as President and make your life miserable.

Mr President, you need to make the choice of ridding the Rajapaksa plague, and not just for your sake, but for the majority of Sri Lankans’ who gave you the Presidential seat to drive away the Rajapaksa clan for ever. We pray that you will not betray us.

Why are these people so scared of president Rajapaksa??? May be he does not want to come back to politics.
The threat to Sirisena is the “people”.

Lasanda, can’t you see how he is scheming. What he would get is the same treatment a dictator like him, Gaddafi got from his people. Today, Sri Lankans are begging to have hope, hope of a terri free country. No journalist would be killed for practicing his profession. Anyone with a decent house stood the chance of losing everything to Gota’s goons, with the help of Mervyn’s thugs. We just have had relief for 30 days and here comes the ,onster, trying to climb a political stage in Nugegoda. This is the time for people to teach him a lesson by spitting on his face and chase him back to retirement in medamulana

Just bump off the bugger and all evils will be stopped afterwards.
He can’t stand any elections ever again. So, the only solution to make the evil robber gangs to go leaderless is sending off Mahinda to his creator.

If things go bad and becomes worst, someone is soon going to do this for sure. Mahinda is danger to the nation.

Very interesting, but by doing that you become no better than the Rajapakses. Also, don’t you think we should get back the embezzled monies before we “Bump him off”. A fair trial may be not important as none of his victims had any trial.

            Sylvia Haik,
You’ve said above…”Very interesting, but by doing that you become no better than the Rajapakses”….

Look he is not going rest until he destroy the entire country. Because, he has experimented any and virtually all those possible windows of evil opportunities to link himself with World most cruel organized criminals such as the Zionists (US/UK/France} axis of evil that created the mass murdering project of Israel, which is owned by the Vatican which is owned by the Rothschilds criminals.

You have seen how US/UK/France helped both sides of the 30 years of ethnic conflict. On one side they supported the LTTE and on the other side they supported the SL Govts (Many SL Govts.) That’s why the conflict dragged to more than 30 years and its still not over.

Mahinda played double game in the Geo Politics. We saw how Mahinda been pumped up financially by the west through IMF/WORLD BANK (Rothschild’s Private Banks designed to enslave the world).

The world is seeing a new change of events in the International Politics with the Ukraine conflict. BRICS nations are on a head on collision with US Zionist banks that belongs to the Vatican/Rothschild collaboration. Russia, India and China are one of the founder members of the BRICS organisation. These countries are monitoring the erratic behaviour of the Sri Lankan dumb politicos playing monkey games in the world politics.

So, let us bump off this carcass for once and for all and then hold law suits in absentia. By the time the the case ends, Mahinda would have been made the biggest criminal of the country exposing his thefts and murders going back to the 70’s.

For your intellectual thirst….please watch the following and and you will get idea of what I am trying to get at….Enjoy the truth!

I’d like to state that I am not the ‘Lasanda’ who posted a comment on 10.02.15 at 1.51 pm on this website in response to Granville Perera’s article. I make this clarification as I am the author of a regular political column in an English language newspaper which appears under my byline, ‘Lasanda Kurukulasuriya,’ and I would not want readers to be misled. (No offence intended to the author of the post.)

Anyone who is eligible to contest can be elected in a democracy. I thought yahapalanaya is good governance. So why is this writer advocating violence and undemocratic methods. It’s the peoples choice to elect whom they want.

Persons who support yahapalanaya will not support this writer. Sri Lanka’s democracy is flourishing now with people enjoying freedom never ever experienced for the past 50 years but all you see in these columns and comments is hatred, revenge and this writer is talking about hanging.

First let there be due process to prove misdeeds. Till then the humble people should get on with their free lives until yahapalanaya takes us to the highly developed country status that we all aspire for our country. I would not expect MR to get even 10% of votes at the next election with this fabulous never experienced yahapalanaya.

So do not worry about hanging anyone as that will never be warranted in this happy isle for the next many years.

OMG I thought all the Rajapakse sycophants had crawled back into holes. I am confident the Sri Lankan electorate is far more astute and will never entertain the likes of the Rajapakses, who ruined the country and made it the pariah state in the eyes of the world, to be in position of power ever again.

Hilarious, you are hilarious. He saved the nation???? He stole the entire nation and he made Sri Lanka a pariah state in the eyes of not just the westerners, but even countries like India, Nepal, Bangladesh considered us a rogue state. That is what he made us, and you want to bring him back? Are you one of the palace stooges who aided and abetted the robbert

It’ interesting Mr Mahinda Rajapakse is been criticised because he had the guts that no other politicians had the balls even to contemplate. He put a final stop to Veliupunde Prabhakarans tyranny that destroyed the country for almost 30 yrs from Bandarawela to Jaffna, he killed more people than any other international terrorist organisation, killed innocent children, grabbing from arms of crying parents, VP did not sacrifice his children, that is the history of Velupunde’s tyranny.
Mr Rajapakse did develop the country that Mr Sirisena will never do in hundred years. Yes he made mistakes by having incompetent advisors. As for Mr Ranil Wickremasinghe though he has a brilliant brain, he is never a leader, last episode he gave Velupunde Prabahkaran with Eric Solheim authority to import any high quality electronics to jam the air force planes, RW gave LTTE the powers to do anything that he chose in North and Eastern province. If RW becomes president he will give away the national identity of Sinhalese. Observe what is politically happening in Jaffna, they are preparing for another racial war.

Dear Thilak. What a lot of credit you give this scoundrel for the war victory!! It was Sarath Fonseka who fought the war all the way. There is no doubt that Mahinda and Gota provided the political support, but the war strategy and implementation was purely by Sarath Fonseka and other service commanders. That is why, as any third grade street thug, Mahinda and Gota eliminated the Fonseka threat by sending him to prison. They knew very well that if they continued to steal the defense money, Sarath Fonseka would have turned his guns on the Rajapaksa clan. There was no other reason to send the war winning general to prison after eliminating the worlds most ruthless terrorist group, just because he was harboring a few army deserters. As the author says, Mahinda and Gota too will have to be charged too for harboring that naval officer in medamulana.

why are you giving prominence only to SF? why are you forgetting to mention the names of the other commanders? the Army represents only 1/3 of our military power and if not for the Air force and Navy, I highly doubt we would have won the war albeit with the same efficiency in which we did!! you are influenced and biased by the Colombo gossip to praise SF and highlight him as the reason we won the war and also note that it wouldn’t have been possible if not for Gota and MR who gave the green light to put an end to terrorism! Give credit where credit is due.. we would have still been half of what we currently are if CBK and RW were in power and there is no denying that. I do not condone the thuggery and the corruption which took place during the previous regime but its derogatory to name MR a scoundrel!

    • 2
      1

Yes you are correct. MR is the one who with Gota’s initiative managed to end the LTTE. But the problem lies in that he was dwelling on it and was gradually becoming a dictator a-la some african state heads, concentrating ALL power with him and surrounding him with murderers drug dealers and similar and YES men and stealing the nation’s coffers. Ranil on the other hand is a failure, 20 times over !
The man of the moment IS Maithri. He is clean and will claen up the mess if the rest of the crooks in the SLFP amd UNP allow him to do so.

  • 2
    1

It is admitted that MR was a charismatic leader and he was voted to power and people expected him to win the war and direct the country
to become a democratic state with all people living together in harmony
and practice their religions peacefully. The minorities expected much better treatment and conciliatory measures to calm them after they went through a very hard time over two decades or so due to war but no one expected that he will turn on the Tamils after the victory in war in the hope to destroy the community, grab prime lands and put the owners in refugee camps and enforced military rule playing the Ltte card, harassing the people and allowed forced colonization on grabbed lands and much more….

Can some one who was close to the past regime explain as to why MR. chose thuggery and intimidation against the people, smashed press freedom, adopted nepotism and filled all the high positions in govt.
institutions, banks, diplomatic corp. and mercantile sector. Allowed his family members to run riot in the country, allowed his cronies to
plunder the treasury, allowed his brother to traumatise his opponents, interfered with all the ministries and made unilateral decisions,
antagonized the West, knowing very well that we cannot fight against the rocks, palled up with China at the risk of losing our friendship with our traditional friend/neighbor, India. Tolerated armed militias in N/E and palled up with their leaders Douglas/Pillian/Karuna, which prompted the wrath of the Tamils of N/E, thus creating hatred against the former President,(showed in the recent election)made the armed forces to look like puppets, promoted, demoted and transferred as and when he liked and followed no norms, brought the judiciary and the
CJ under his control, which never happened in any other country, made appointments to high offices with people with zero knowledge, took
into confidence,BBS and other unruly elements,Could not live without pomp and pageantry of high office and spent people’s money lavishly on entertainment, and travel, spending 1500 million on travel alone on him and his entourage

These are qualities of a dictator and how come it did not dawn on him
that some day he has to answer. This is not the Mahinda Rajapakse that
people knew of him in the earlier days.He had sympathies for the suffering people and spoke about the Palestinians in international forums and see how power & greed can bring a man down . If he wants to return to politics, he has to shed arrogance & greed , apologise to the people for the deeds he did against them without their knowledge, keep the family out of reach to luxuries at the cost of the poor and most importantly drop his advisors and go for knowledgeable types, not GLP type who brought SL to the knees in the International arena in the process of making the boss happy. He has good qualities too and acceptable to the people ,so turn a new leaf and come to the forefront with new set of educated people, not goons, as your advisors.

Just leave them alone, let them come back and finish the job they haven’t completed. Which is, destroying the minorities, their race, religion, the country and also finally the majorities and their religion called Theravada Buddhism completely…then may be others, if any one left, can live in peace !
    JUST KIDDING !!

This damn nation has no men with vision and all are playing dirty politics.

    WE ARE HUMAN..
    UNTIL RACE DISCONNECTED US !
    RELIGION SEPARATED US !
    POLITICS DIVIDED US ! and
    WEALTH CLASSIFIED US !

Bring SECULARISM, if you want to prosper and live in peace.

    There is no other choice.

MR’s facade of development was undertaken because of the 3% commission basil negotiated for the family on every lean taken by the country from EXIM bank china. They built roads and other other infrastructure where they had kickback from all sides, including 27% of the total cost of projects, 3% commission from the lending institution, and a hell of a lot more. This is how he developed our beloved country. The Galle Highway project as well as the Colombo Katunayake project alone would have given them enough money to live for 50 generations in the highest possible luxury anywhere in the world. Their greed did not stop, so they paid the price. If MY3 doesn’t bring back these monies and spend it on development, he and the entire parliament should be tried for treason.

Can a ousted President apply for a position of a lower grade in a Parliament?. It does not seem fair. How can a CEO of a company for 10 years, dismissed due to corruption, work under another CEO of the same company???? No self respected guy will do that.It is a shame that MR is considering coming back and serve the people who have all come to know of his and his families real misdoings, their thirst for power and not satisfied with the amount of wealth that they have amassed.

If MR comes back, even lord Buddha will not be able to save the people of Sri-Lanka, except the people who are prepared prostrate and worship MR. These people have with them hidden intentions and every decent citizen of Sri-Lanka knows it.

Mahinda Rajapaksa is attempting to become the executive prime minister, and that would give him more or less the powers he used during his term at the presidency

If Mahinda has an iota of self respect he should not return to politics.
Having reached the Himalayan height in politics he committed Harakiri.
Plundered the nation with his family members, treated Sri Lanka as something
he inherited from his parents and now the people have given their verdict
to to say Good bye Good luck and confine your self to the cocoon you have
    created in your own place.

We need to bring Mahinda back into power. He was a fearless leader. Never danced to the tune of western world. Never feared the Indians. Never feared LTTE backed TNA. Never feared Jihadists. He was a great Sinhala leader. A true leader who loves the country cannot act like a sheep. He never allowed minorities to control the majority Sinhalese. He knew that if a country to be a peaceful place then the majority should be a happy bunch in first place. He appointed Sinhala patriotics to all important positions. He was able to pick the right military leaders to command the three forces. He never surrendered to Western world. He developed the country into great heights. Who can forget highways which was once a dream only. He changed poor looking cirties, towns into rich looking places. Look for example, Colombo, Kadawatha, Nittambuwa and all towns in the North. He wanted to link all major cities through highways. He built high standard laboratories in each and every village level school. Carpeted each and every road. Never forgot the villagers.Mahinda did not allow crooks and rogues to engage in wrong business’ like drug trafficking etc. Most of those who suffered were Muslim culprits. In fact Muslim racketeers were struggling to smuggle illegal items to our country. When this happened they got together and with the help of Muslim leaders (in fact they gathered in mosques and held meeting after meeting, planning to defeat the Sinhala hero) forced the Muslim idiots to vote against Mahinda. A minority group of our own Sinhala bastards join these Jihadists and vote against Mahinda finally resulting his downfall. All Sinhalese have now realized the truth. So we will bring back Mahinda to lead the country again.

All Sinhalese should flock together to bring our Sinhala hero back into power.
