“They are watching us. They are listening to our conversations and following our every move. On the 15th of January, they impressed upon us not to speak and to use the ‘back door’ as we left. Not only are they attempting to intimidate and harass us but to hinder the very liberties any citizen of this country is entitled to.” says Shaveen Bandaranayake Kariyawasam, the Chief Justice’s son.
Updating Shaveen’s Facebook status he says; ” I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to all those who stood with us and continue to do so. We stood for the independence and the integrity of the Sri Lankan Judiciary and my mother remains the legitimate Chief Justice of this country!”
