Issuing a statement today the Ministry of External Affairs says; “The initial proscription process was conducted in haste and was not subject to a rigorous process of assessment and verification. Many of the listed organisations had never condoned violence or terrorism.”

Annual Review of Proscribed Entities Under UN Regulation No. 1 of 2012
The Government of Sri Lanka proscribed 16 organisations and 424 individuals under Gazette Extraordinary No. 1854/41 on 21 March 2014 using powers under the United Nations Act No. 45 of 1968. The proscription was announced eight days before Western and Southern Provincial Council elections, which were held on 29 March 2014.
The initial proscription process was conducted in haste and was not subject to a rigorous process of assessment and verification. Many of the listed organisations had never condoned violence or terrorism. Some of the proscribed individuals were even dead at the time of proscription – including one individual who died 8 years prior to the proscription.
United Nations Regulation No. 1, approved by Parliament in 2012, obliges the Government to review and update its list of proscribed organisations at least once a year. The new government, resolute in combatting terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, undertook a systematic review process in order to update the list of organisations.
Over the last six months, law enforcement and intelligence agencies have conducted a comprehensive and careful review of the proscribed organisations and individuals. The review process concluded that there was no intelligence or evidence justifying the listing of eight organisations and 267 persons. Groups that continue to espouse separatism, including eight organisations and 157 individuals, remain proscribed.
As a result of this review, our law enforcement and intelligence services are now able to target their resources more efficiently and focus their energy on genuine threats improving the security of all Sri Lankans. Furthermore, since the new Government came to power with a mandate for democracy, good governance, rule of law, accountability and reconciliation many listed groups made public statements expressing their commitment to a united, undivided Sri Lanka in global forums. This indicates that the government’s counter-terrorism strategy of combating terrorism through better intelligence, specialised training, tighter legislation and closer counter-terrorism partnerships, combined with measures addressing the root causes of violence, is beginning to work.
As per our legal obligations, the Government will annually review and update the list of proscribed persons. We hope that other groups and individuals make similar public commitments condemning violence and renouncing separatism in addition to other necessary measures. Then they too can be considered for de-proscription and join other formerly proscribed organisations, both in the North and South, who have successfully entered the democratic mainstream and are now working for the betterment of Sri Lanka.

The AG and IGP have results of 70 investigations and have to decide what to do with them. They are supposed to be independent from the politicians but we know how the reality is.
As we have seen lately often the AG decides that there is not enough evidence and orders additional investigations.
A completed investigation does not mean that something has been found. The result can be that nothing illegal was found.
I am happy because the JVP is trying to achieve something.

It is the 6th Amendment’s (which is called as a draconian act by International Jurist Group,) terrorism has to be proscribed under Resolution 1373. Not the organization using the UN’s charter of freedom of speech to ask for freedom from Sinhala Colonial rule. Do the UN accepts the the 6th amendment. Did you stop it?

We must welcome government decision to de-proscribe the Tamil organisations and individuals.
In my article of: article1/3/2015https://www.colombotelegraph.com/index.php/sirisena-govt-must-sensibly-engage-with-non-resident-tamils/, touched on very pertinent issues.
Dead, dying and sick too were included in the Gota/Sajin Vas/Pieris list of proscription.
One time LTTE activists are no longer involved even few of them have walked away well before the demise of the LTTE. There were some others whom should have fallen into the net of proscription but did not find their way in because of the haphazardness of the proscription of the Mahinda government.
According to latest information one active member of the LTTE who helped Pirabakaran to kidnap his wife Mathivathani was/is involved in all kinds of nefarious activities even after claiming asylum in the UK. He is said to have partnered with an old female guard of the LTTE to go berserk in the Tamil Diaspora in the UK.
Their success in helping in the kidnap of Mathivathani, using fried chicken oil as their weapon terrorise,using agents to break into Tamil organisations and selling the stolen assets at car boots sale etc., has so far escaped the net of the Sri Lankan intelligence and the Scotland Yard.
The proscription was a down right hate mindset of the Rajapakse regime.
This is one more important move of the present government and must be welcome.

Rajasingham Jayadevan is trying to impress the Appe Anduwa. Appe Andu has refused to release the prisoners taken in by the Sinhala Intellectuals’ Army in the past under PTA. Appe Andu is refusing to release the details of torture chambers it operated and operating, even after OISL has reported of them. Nobody knows what happened to those who endured the tortures. Appe Andu has suddenly dropped one family of secret prisoners in Vadamarachchi. No talk about others. But very gracefully, with Rajasingham Jayadevan’s blessing, Appe Andu has taken back the ban imposed on Father Emmanuel. Father Emmanuel is person, who was deported at Chennai airport as per Appe Andu’ request. Now he has been offered permission to visit Lankawe. Appe Andu is spreading a net for Father Emmanuel. Recently he too has become a champion of Innakkam. He has not been able to make even a hair of the Grip of Army has put on North. We are not worried about the Father Emmanuel’s new Innakkam. Further when he comes back from this menace, we will not have a problem to accept him.
What the government is planning to have the EP removed. From the time Pirapharan tested the Tamils’ strength on selecting a new EP, the Appe Andu has been looking for an alternate. This time (Jan 2015) TNA channeled Tamils strength like last time Pirapaharan did. Now before the Sec.Kerry pressure goes down and the National Government disintegrates and lose 2/3 majority, they want to have this danger removed. To market this new 13A they are wooing Father Emmanuel. Anti-Tamil politics practitioner Rajasingham Jayadevan is taking fire out of the burning house to smoke his pipe. If he has thing called The Brain, he would ask him a question what the government has implemented from 1948 which has been it promising. Now, what is the new thing he is seeing in the New Royals? Why they who promised to use foreign judges to investigate at the UNHRC resolution, now taking back it? The government, which is saying it cannot take any action against the Old King’s corruption charges is one going to change the constitution and give rights to Tamils?
There is a reason why Father Emmanuel relaxed his hold. But Rajasingham Jayadevan who wants to show him as big politician without knowing what he is talking is writing Blah Blah. If he understands that one single thing, he would have held back his comments. The ban imposed is not under Lankawe’s PTA. It is under a UN resolution. This ban is for action by International governments. And anybody a Tamil who goes to Lankawe without Appe Andu’s blessing is always gets arrested under PTA. Brother Prince’s first gazette notification was not accepted by any country other than India. These banned people and organizations are not operating in India. So Bother Prince’s first notification went invalid. To revive it, and woo father Emmanuel to consent for the new 13A, Appe Andu is playing this game. Father was invited Lanka even while he was banned under this law, without removing the ban on him. When he slackened to go, they are removing the ban and re-inviting. It is unlikely Father gives his consent blindly to Appe Andu. Even if Father gives his consent, it is not a representation from Diaspora. All are now in UNHRC. America has a concern. Even if Appe Andu hires Rajasingham Jayadevan to do its propaganda, I do not see Appe Anud’s car is going many a miles of long distance with the gas of Rajasingham Jayadevan.

If you sincerely feel this information is credible, why don’t you take it to the British police? What is stopping you? No gumption to speak of, aside from whining? Are you merely using this forum to settle a personnel agenda? Seems like you are miffed by losing Mathivathani – is that what you are trying to avenge by demonizing LTTE and Praba, every chance you get? Mother Lanka had heart problems few times and managed them with foreign help both regional and international. Lot of own blood was lost even though the 2 treatments were angiography and scents.
I mean I refer to the rebellion by JVP twice.
Rebellion for seperation by LTTE was a major surgery through by- pass with international help.
In the mean time Mother Lanka has progressively became a victim of a few types of cancer. Some will say this is inherent and intractable type or it is due to genetics.
At least in-house specialist in Oncology JVP has diagnosed the serious illness Mother Lanka is suffering from and is keep on pressing the coalition govt to follow their prognosis/diagnosis/prescription.
Will the bring back campaign again save Mother Lanka or make her become a skeleton ?
Hope the majority of the majority become more enlightened and start to HAIL JVP !
