No One Can Achieve Anything By Discussing With Creator And Instigator Of Current Political Crisis: JVP Responds Strongly To Sirisena’s Invitation

In a strongly-worded letter to President Maithripala Sirisena, the JVP has said the party does not wish to ‘discuss’ the current political crisis with the President, as the latter has to demonstrate his resolve to address the issue by action.

JVP leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake

The JVP leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake, in his letter, has explained why it decided to boycott the all-party meeting convened by President Sirisena this evening.

The party, describing Sirisena as the ‘creator’ of the political crisis, says Sirisena instigated the turmoil by appointing a Parliamentarian who did not command the majority support in the House as the Prime Minister. The JVP also said the President then triggered a culture where Parliamentarians were traded off to prove an artificial majority for a chosen Prime Minister.

The JVP also criticized the President’s moves to prorogue and dissolve Parliament exacerbating the political crisis, when his attempts to purchase MPs proved to be futile.

The party then blamed President Sirisena for offering ‘cheap excuses’ for accepting two no-confidence motions against purported Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa adopted in Parliament. The party maintains that the two no-confidence motions were adopted by the House following the correct Parliamentary procedure, with the contest of a majority.

The JVP believes, the latter says, that nothing can be achieved by holding discussions with the creator of an unprecedented crisis. The party points out that the President must now resort to action, and fulfil his part, to resolve the political crisis.

“ the latter says, that nothing can be achieved by holding discussions with the creator of an unprecedented crisis ” The lesson Tamils learned after 1948. in 2018, 70 years after Tamils, Anura Kumara is learning. But Tamils’ relief would come only if IC has learned this lesson.

All is said and done by experts about the credibility of the NCMs being compliant with the constitution but they in the all party conference set new guidelines according to BIG MOUTHs and most abusive loyalists of Rajaakshe.
These sound as if they just want to buy time until the court hearing will be heard next month.
This is cruel and entire world would see it, that all these behavoiurs of Rajakshe led groups are beyond all ethics and morals.
JVPrs and Hn Karu Jayasooriya are very right not to have taken part the sessions looking at the eyes of the brutal SIRISENA goyya.
Who thought that this bugger would betray the people s mandate this way.

Does the President necessarily need to see if NCM passed was legal or not ?

Was that the case also for the pacts got passed in the parliment prior to 26 Oct 2018 and also in so called Regime of Mr Medamulana.

With almsot many constitutional experts in the view that procedure of NCM got passed inthe parliament on the 14th, 15th and 16 th were in compliance with parliamentary procedures, why those Rajakashe Loyalists keep on arguing those NCMs to be null and void.

I think there is big gab in lanken LEGAL system. In a situation of this kind, there should be a legal body Parliamentarians to seek for assistance.

Here every minion of Gonthadipila nature, add what he think isd right. but whatever the bugger would utter is not beyond hearsays.

Absolute nonsense. People like Anura Kumara who doesn’t know what they don’t know mislead the like minded other idiots in he country. There is a procedure to call a NCM, the main point of the procedure is there should be a valid reason for the NCM, the Clause 1 in the NCM is the valid reason, but President wanted Clause 1 taken out, then there is no NCM, so Speaker left the Clause 1 in, then the next important point is the Parliament General Secretary has to validate the Clause 1 against the Constitution, if he can then he can proceed with the other procedural steps of the NCM, if he cannot someone has to petition the SC and get a judgement as to whether the Clause 1 is within the constitution. Then you are in square one. That is why the speaker tries to pull wool over the Parliament and the Public.

Well, Machang Wannihami, if you have forgotten, President has refused to accept the results of the second NCM. Therefore, you argument has no validity.

Wannihamy is absolutely idiotic giber… ÑCM Clause 1. dealt with query pending in Supreme Court how it can be constitutional?

        • 2
          3

No Vetmahdevi, the SC pending petitions are all but one on dissolution of the Parliament and the other is on proroguing, there is none on sacking Ranil and appointing Mahinda, latter could be constitutional or it could be against the constitution, for that to be decided someone has to file a petition at the SC, why doesn’t Anura Kumara do that I ask?

      • 2
        6

Machang Champa, did the second NCM had the Clause 1 or not? If there was no Clause 1 then there is no valid reason for the NCM, if Clause 1 is left in the NCM, the validity of that clause has to be checked against the constitution. How do you do that? A citizen has to file a petition the SC, aha we are back in square 1, what a Catch 22,!

Wannihami, don’t waste your breath! In Wanni you never had a Parliament and therefore your knowledge is zero.
Anura Dissanayake explained every word of what he said referring to the appropriate clauses in the constitution and quoting precedent from parliamentary procedures.
Either you did not watch the entire clip or you did not hear what you did not want to. Unfortunately you are not alone, there are a few like you in this country. That’s why we have descended from a position as the second wealthy nation in south east Asia in 1948, to a Nation with a beggar bowl paying 80% of our GDP as interest for our loans!
There is a saying, ” one can make the blind see but Not the one who keep his eyes tightly shut”!
I feel that the JVP decision to boycott the party leaders meeting is right. It would be appropriate for everyone to boycott the meeting!

Ranjan Fernando, think of it this way, to bring on an NCM there should be a reason. And Clause 1 is supposedly the reason. When an NCM is brought forward the Parliament secretary has to make sure it is according to the constitution, if it is not clear someone has to seek the opinion of the SC by a petition, there is Precedence here and that Ranjan is bit inconvenient for you and Anura both, precedence is from a case from 2002. JVP had some relevance in the late ’60 to ’71 , now JVP is nothing but a lost party seeking shelter. I am glad Somawansha Amarasinghe left the JVP before he passed.

There is a way out. I very strongly suggest that the Army Commander puts in a word in to the ears of

Mithiripala that it is time he steps back with his PLANS/Trump Cards etc. as the consequences will be

too heavy for him personally. This is far better than having so-called Meeting for reconciliation.

Forget their ideology but what They have told MS on the issue is totally correct.
By tomorrow UNP & the rest who decided to meet with MS today would realize that once again they have been hoodwinked.
Why are they so dumb to believe in MS after all what has taken place.should serve them right when the hard reality strikes them finally

The reply of the JVP leader is absolutely correct. Now the issue is whether democracy should be saved. Parliament stands as a symbol of democracy where every one expresses his/her view, thus reflecting their civil liberties. Having regard to the position of the IMF, the World Bank and the Western democratic countries, I think all the parties including the Tamil parties should give an unconditional support to Ranil Wickremasinghe. Even India did not take notice of Namal Rajapakse and other Minister, but Modi was seen discussing with the former President at Maldives. This is not the time to bargain for anything. Economic development should gain priority which will eventually solve the entire problems. It is sad that even the TULF Parliamentarian Mavai Senathirajah is reluctant to support Ranil according to some Tamil news. The welfare of the people as a whole in Sri Lanka should be taken into consideration. No one should spoil the situation in saving democracy. If democracy is saved, then it will create an atmosphere of mutual understanding and there will be unity. What is essential is to prevent civil disturbances and save democracy in the best interests of the country.

What is Rani W doing? He has gone for the meeting with “113 Signatures” For what? Now this “Joker” President has asked him to submit the signatures with “Affidavits”. Apparently, Ranil W has agreed to do that by 10.00 a.m. on 19th. Ranil W is another “Joker” not second to “Joker” President. The other “Joker” the “Tyrant” MR has said: ” I will neither go nor will be removed”. The President has never asked MR to show the number 113. Did he tell that to MR at the meeting? This “spineless” Ranil W has agreed. Did he not realize that the Parliament has passed the NCM and the Speaker has CERTIFIED the decision. At least Ranil W should have respected that. Shouldn’t the PEOPLE of Sri Lanka NOW realize that all these “JOKERS” must be chased away, lock stock and barrel, when the TIME comes. All must agree that the “In the OPINION” of the President must not be allowed to stay in the Rule Books of State Functions. That “In the OPINION” must be CHALLENGED and DONE AWAY with. Instead, it must be : On a FACTUALLY EVALUATED basis. We have already seen the “Danger” and the “Disaster” that have been brought about as a result of “IN THE OPINION” and worse when a “Mad Man” acts on his “OPINION”. So work hard to get rid of that clause “In the Opinion” NOW.

Using the good old commonsense, lay-Lankans will agree with AKD ~ “No One Can Achieve Anything By Discussing With Creator And Instigator Of Current Political Crisis”.
They will add (almost unanimously) “Time is ripe for another party”.
    .
By the way AKD, why do you call it ‘Political Crisis? The is a better term.

The unruly behaviour in the Parliament shows that the former President and his now-defunct JO haven’t learnt a bit for the last 4 years!! Everything was forgotten, the moment they tasted power.
Moreover, nationalism and the patriotism which were carried on a pedestal for 4 years were also forgotten. How could they talk about Federal Constitution again? They did the same thing what Ranil did.
Then the new appointment of the Chairman/Sri Lankan Airlines is a sign of nepotism.
Under the present volatile situation, going for Parliamentary Elections is not advisable at all.
The President, who couldn’t control his own UPFA members in the Parliament won’t be able to control bloodbath and lawlessness which will rampant across the country during election period.
This doesn’t mean to absolve UNP of any treachery they committed. I stand by what I said before. They should be sent home en masse.
However, MR and now-defunct JO have amply proved that they still have lot to learn and lot to correct.
How could they control 21 million people, if they can’t control themselves in the Parliament?
There is no way I support anybody who undermines people’s voting rights in a democratic framework.
I expect our leaders to respect justice, freedom and civil and political liberties of people at all times.
Being positive in a negative situation is leadership. I didn’t see that. I only saw scare tactics and negative attacks on political opponents. Mind my reminding you, JO, it is the same thing Ranil did for 4 years. And I wish you to slow down in lying at least a little bit and stop putting blame on others for your behaviour.
I am telling you JO, it was you all who created this storm in the Parliament. Therefore, don’t get mad when it rains!!!!

Would you kindly forward me a english translation of this communication please. I could forward that to

The whole world saw what took place in SriLanka and this article directly point the finger at President Srisens.I’m pretty sure once the western world end up giving aid to this illegal regime , itwill collapse ultimately. So sorry to see Srilankans have to suffer due to the President’ arrogance. In the future Srilankans must be extremely careful not to vote for people like them.

      Burt,
“once the western world end up giving aid to this illegal regime , it will collapse ultimately”
Even to Ranil, those White Supremacists did not give any damn thing. So why bother. They just used Ranil and Sirisena to get rid of Rajapakse. They pumped US$ 220 million for Regime Change. That money did not go to people. Ended up in pockets of UNP, JVP, and TNA politicians.

Brilliant by JVP. It deserves the vote of those who respect democracy and stand against corruption. There were many stories of bribes to politicians to shift allegiances in the recent past. The veracity of those is not known. But, there has not been even a single attempt to woo any JVP politician, confirming that they (as a group) are the only politicians who won’t stoop to that level.

Some say JVP is not suitable to govern the country. Then who is suitable? We have been duped by both the UNP and the SLFP for the past 70 years. Does MS or MR have any suitability better than JVP to govern? No. If MS and MR could, I think anyone is able to.

I think the country needs to do only 3 things; (a) stop corruption (only JVP has shown incorruptibility), (b) bring to justice all irrespective of political allegiances (only JVP is able to do that), (c) uplift the poor. The economy would improve by itself if those 3 matters are addressed steadfastly with commitment and passion.
