Sri Lanka’s first Northern Province Chief Minister C.V. Wigneswaran was sworn in before President Mahinda Rajapaksa at Temple Trees a short while ago.

Present at the momentous occasion were several members of the Tamil National Alliance which won an overwhelming majority in the September 21 provincial election.
Wigneswaran’s family members were also present during the oath-taking ceremony.
The Northern Province Chief Minister is a retired judge of the Supreme Court. He ascends Chief Ministerial office with over 130,000 preferential votes from the Jaffna District.

Congratulations Wiggie and Good Luck!
I have no doubt Wiggie will do his bit to re-establish the dignity of people in the northern province. And to unite the people of this country in the process.
All Sri Lankans who love their country must help the new Chief Minister. Wiggie needs and deserves our support.
He faces a daunting task. He will be attacked mercilessly by both Sinhalese and Tamil racists. Both here at home and abroad.
I look forward to the day he takes a national role in Sri Lankan politics. Rather than the provincial, TNA role.
Sri Lanka needs men of Wiggie’s integrity and professionalism to govern this nation.

CM Wigneswaran needs a lot of good luck where he finds himself placed thanks to Sampanthan and India. I reiterate again that they really did a big favor to the likes of Mavai S, Sivagnanam who should be a Minister soon for the NPC, Prof. Sitrampalam and editor Vithyaharan.

CM had a choice of taking oaths in front of the military governor or the president despite all the possible war crimes he is accused of by the Tamils. I believe the TNA made the right decision as the Tamils campaign for the removal of both the military governors in the North and the East while the international community closely watches the situation in the NE because of the Tamil pressure. There is zero Muslim pressure on this subject, and that is another reason there is no real sympathy for the Muslims when they are attacked by the BBS from some Tamil sector.
The two military governors will be removed soon since they have outlived their non existent welcome from mostly all the Tamils including the Karuna-Pillaiyan, Douglas combo. There is both national and international pressure for this change.
However the Wigneswaran statement ” It is as a part of such an exercise that we decided that I take oaths before the President of this Country.We believe our decision would convey to our brethren our desire to settle our differences within a united Sri Lanka.” is really nonsensical.
Sri Lanka would remain Undivided for many years, but will never be United, unless there are radical changes from the Sinhalese, Buddhist, and the ruling GOSL. Again, the first process has to be there should be accountability, truth and justice without being in a state of denial of war crimes and crimes against humanity. The perpetrators should be brought to justice and punished in America and Sri Lanka, in their respective countries. (lol).
More importantly, there should be immediate sharing of the budget funds, as well as foreign aid, grants, and loans in a equitable manner including compensating for the 66 years of gross and willful neglect.
Ports (including fisheries harbors)and Airports (National and international) are good examples. The difference in the past 5 years alone would be around 10 Billion dollars. On every ministry subject it would grand differences except the MOD, where the roads and railways are mainly for the benefit of the military cleverly camouflaged as civilian development. That is another big Rajapakse lie.
Without funds from the treasury and powers from the Supreme Court the NPC would be just another glorified municipal council. The military, Police and UDA will have all the funds and power which are directly controlled by Gothabaya Rajapakse.

First of all I congratulate Mr.Wigneswaran for winning the hearts and trust of the Nothern Tamil and minority communities.
Now it is time for him to deliver his service to them.
First there are over 90,000 war widows with children whose grievances such as shelter, health, food and employment are not yet been met and Mr. Wigneswaran should address this as a priority.
Second Mr.Wigneswaran should appoint a board of well qualified academics comprised of professors, economists, architects, engineers, doctors, businessmen,industrialists, investors, agriculture experts, hi-Tech engineers,research Analysts and innovators, music art and culture academics etc, and draw up plans for both short and long term development.He could also ask for volunteer help from Academics of Sri Lankan Tamil diaspora community and from International expert community including UN, EU, CW, SARC and Asian countries who are well aware of infrastructure and economic, social, employment and market based development programs to market North.
Third Mr.Wigneswaran should submit an Yearly Budget proposal to the Central Government based on Short and long term development plans and to obtain necessary funds from Sri lanka Government.
Fourth Mr.Wigneswaran should also submit various Industrial, Agriculture and development related proposals to International community for Investment generation purposes and for Funding purposes. He could also make use of Tamil Diaspora community for their Knowledge, experience, grants, funding and Investments to Market North.
Opening and operating Nothern Development Website is a must with their own various Broadcast channels,printed material, Radio/ TV / internet communication channels etc, to open to the outside world for funding, grands and investments and business purposes.
I hope there are many countries who will come to support Nothern Development programs if proper channels and methods are used and proper information (both printed and internet) is available. Please use proper professional and consulting advisers to get the maximum benefit.
Availability of the Nothern Harbor and Airport is a Plus for easy market access. Proper planning and development will bring quick results.

Yes he had to obviously take oaths before Rajapakse. That is a constitutional requirement that the TNA and every Tamil knew from before the elections. Those saboteur who tried to block the TNA from contesting in the first place, are now ranting that it was a betrayal to take oaths before MR. So how is the Provincial Government to be formed without due constitutional process?
Of course none of this means the Vigneswaran and the TNA should have any illusions about the tricks and undercutting that the Centre has in store for them. That’s another matter and they need to prepare to meet these challenges.

Congratulations and best wishes!.
I am not looking you as an individual. In my eyes you are representing a community and hope you will represent the views and opinions shared by those who elected to represent them. Unlike any other chief ministers of other provinces your role is much difficult and harder and we understand the challenges you have to face from now onwards from all sides including your own side and opposite side. We as a community suffered a lot over six decades: lost thousands of valuable resources including land, capital and human; lost our fundamental rights of existence, cultural and language identities, and right of justice. The people need guidance and advice from you as a leader and your team and they expect you and your team to be as role models. People expect from you and your team a charismatic leadership, honest and unbiased approach and sacrifice their time and resources to maximise towards the objectives of the people. So far people have seen politician’s as opportunistic, corrupted and misuse of public resources to personal benefits and break the law. I am sure that you and your team develop a mechanism or code of practice that is transparent, visible and accessible to the public. The similar code of practice should be adopted to all civil servants and public offices.
People will be with you as long as you stay with the people even if you cannot meet all the commitments you made. People know it is difficult and the barriers to the journey are huge. It is not an impossible mission but we need to develop and create the correct environment to meet our goal that is Justice!
