Parliament Passes No Confidence Motion Against Fake PM Mahinda Rajapaksa

Speaker Karu Jayasuriya confirmed the No Confidence Motion against Mahinda Rajapksa and his purported government was passed in Parliament.

The motion was presented by the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna and was taken up for a vote when Parliament convened this morning. the UNP, the JVP, the TNA, the TPA, the SLMC and the ACMC voted in favour of the No-Confidence Motion.

The UPFA did not take part in the vote and vehemently protested the No Confidence process. Mahinda Rajapaksa walked out of the chamber soon after the NCM motion was moved.

Following the vote in Parliament, all MPs representing the UNP, the TNA, the JVP, the SLMC and the ACMC signed a motion to the Speaker reconfirming their position on the No Confidence Vote.

Through the motion, the majority of MPs confirmed that they did not have confidence in the purported Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, and his government.

Colombo Telegraph learns that 122 MPs have signed the No Confidence Motion against Rajapaksa, claiming Wickremesinghe was the legitimate Prime Minister in the country. Apart from MPs of the opposition parties, Manusha Nanayakkara, Piyasena Gamage, A.H.M. Fowzie, Wasantah Senanayake and Vadivel Suresh also supported Wickremesinghe.

The MPs who crossover to the UNP from the Sirisena-Rajapaksa alliance said they would immediately resign from their current government portfolios..

If Mahinda is fake , why then RW did not rush to courts to remove the Fake – because RW knows he is real and his appointment is constitutional – In my previous comment I said he should resign from the post of PM – but I think that is wrong – he should remain their and fight for a general election – let the Parliament get dissolved automatically and go for fresh election and try to obtain 2/3 so that his Gov. can run the country without the help of “Binkunda Parties”

I agree with you, MR is no fake he is real and not a stooge of the West. What has RW done? He brought in a Singaporean who was behind the biggest Bond scam. Sri Lanka remained stagnant the rupee has been sliding while the MPs were getting fatter on the wealth of the land.

RW has to take some blame for being ineffective, and many of the problems, but the people in the country must adhere to the constitution, and not act above the law.

What a stupid statement. MR brought China and sold the whole country and whole country is under China. He made huge money from China as bribe? What benefits the Mattala airport, hambamtota harbor, nelum pokuuna broght to the country? Just think without blindly supporting the most corrupted MR and gang

      Rabok!
RW did not go to courts to remove Mahinda. The supreme court was inundated with FR petition to declare that the dissolution of the parliament was not consistent with constitutional provisions, That’s all. Arising out of this verdict various other things flow, including the legality of the sitting of the parliament there after Gazette notifications, and whether Srisena could continue as the president after committing a major blunder. Causing a deep dent on the public funds. Won’t this be at least immoral?. President is a public servant and if another public servant would have committed a blunder of this magnitude, he would have been interdicted, pending inquiry. Unlike the public servants, MP’s, Ministers, Lawyers, Judges, Attorney Generals and the like are exempted from punishment when they commit blunders. If at all they have to be punished, a long and cumbersome procedures are involved- a struggle indeed, which most of the public avoid. In Srilanka quite a number of ministers escape even with murders and become Prime Ministers/Presidents and live happily ever after. Has any one been taken to task for Laws’ delay.?
In fact our living itself is fake, that is why one of the POPULAR Hindu Philosophy says ‘Kayame Ithu Poiyada- Kattaditha Paiyada’ meaning the ‘World itself is is fake like a Balloon filled with Air’. Or Shakespeare’s saying the’ World is a Stage and We are all Actors’. (ACTORS INDEED)

Having two elected representatives as highest authority is always the case riding two horses at same time keeping one leg on one horse and another one other. It is wise to remove the election of president and elect him through the representatives in parliamentary . That makes sense for a ceremonial president

“Having two elected representatives as highest authority is always the case riding two horses at same time keeping one leg on one horse and another one other. “

Actually it is like riding three horses, the third being the Hindians. Now it seems the third one is Subramanian Swamy.

Find out from him if has a half baked plan for this island of stupid people (who share their DNA with Tamil Nadu).

The partners in the coup Ranil and Karu played their last act, today, in the Drama called NCM. Tomorrow morning (11/14/2018), they hope to sing “Mangalam Subha Mangalam” and end the show. Come on guys this not should be such an easy rescript change for even the master script writer, the crook in TTH.

The NCM in parliament should have been against the White Flag Murderer New King. But the original script was modified and the play was changed on the fly, by Ranil.

19A is a duly passed and accepted part of canon text in the constitution. Yesterday SC accepted 19A to base its Injection over the executive order to dissolve the parliament. That means, at least one time, 19A has passed test to be accepted by court. Then how the parliament accepted the White Flag murderer appointing a PM while another sitting and he dismissing a PM before 4 ½ years passed? This is in black white in the 19A. If the parliament cannot be dissolved under 19A, the PM cannot be dismissed under 19A. If the victim is not complaining it doesn’t mean the criminal is exempted to commit the crime. If Ranil and Karu don’t complain, violating the 19A, the War Criminal cannot sit on PM Chair. His prefered selection is UN Electric Chair.

Parliament is not a play place for children to play “Mama-Papa” role game or “Police-thief” game. If the 19A estops, PM cannot be fired by EP. God damn it! If the 19A estops, Parliament cannot certify an illegal dismissal or appointment of any nature with 2/3 majority. There is no way Ranil getting off from PM chair and Old Rowdy sitting on the PM chair to establish that New Rowdy did not violate constitution. This drama is not acceptable; New King’s violation of Constitution must be punished in a court of law.

Didn’t Hakeem yesterday asked AG when he said in the Court that the dismissal of parliament was within the authority of EP, “Come On guy, if even the Nursery kid can understand that 19A over riding the Section 70 of the original constitution, then you too can” .
This kind of Kids’ “Mama-Pappa” role playing in the parliament to grant impunity to criminals has no place in a government that is expected to follow a constitution. Just because Red Shirt communists brought the NCM on a non-existing PM, New King cannot be exempted for violating constitution. It is Time to stop impunities if the Lankaweyans don’t want to have established constitutional coup as annual ceremony.
Only a bitch would kill and eat her pups. New King and Ranil brought the 19A. Unless they are mentally equivalent to a dog that eats its babies, these guys should not try this game while the entire world attention is focused on them. Now they are the ones breaking law they brought in and then serving impunity themselves for their criminal act.
All coup initiators & conspirators and participators deserve punishment in the court. Anybody broke 19A must be removed from the functioning government and case must be filed against them.

Thank God, SL once again was saved by concerned stake holders to an amicable solution. The stand-off between executive and legislature has been intervened by judiciary and brought to a temporary halt without much bloodshed. The political chicanery demonstrated by President warrants his deposing not just the President but the Executive Presidency once and for all by the end of this term. Even after 19th Amendment, knowingly he made a statement of fact, that the presidency has been reduced to ceremonial presidency but still had acted usurping the power of the parliament. For this reason, and breaching Presidential office and the constitution he took oath on to abide by, and all other havoc he wreaked on the country including bringing the legislature into disrepute, he must be impeached. As Prime-minister, Speaker or any other appointee can act for President until the term ends or sooner, a Westminster Parliamentary model system can be followed and the 19th-A ceremonial President until we steady the ship to the election.
The new parliamentarians can gain some credibility if only they distance themselves from the Executive Presidential Constitution and empower people at large through participatory democracy. We do not want to elect autocrats and authoritarians of no credentials to exploit, to provide us the development and jobs, misappropriate the budget funds allocated for people, claim moneys in the false names for staffs, and get fat at subsidised parliamentary luxury exclusive “canteens” and tax free cars. Peoples representatives work is not a “job” for making money for parasites, sycophants and boot-lickers. This parliament had more illiterates of worst social order, hardly with any visionaries than ever in history, having criminal mindset, talking extremisms and stand for nonsense. These power-hungry fellows assume these positions are here for life and for their families. When Rajapakses talk of family rule now, they seemed to have learnt NO LESSONS FROM THEIR PAST MISTAKES.

I hope this JVP led NCM has not left a gap the MS’s Cabinet could creep through. The only provision in the Constitution I could find to pass a No Confidence Motion is in article 48 (2). This is against the Cabinet and Government. A simple majority here would cause the Cabinet to be replaced and the PM too. However AKD has not based the NCD on this article and instead linked it to a vote on the constitutionality of the 3 Gazette notices of 26th October. His NCM has 2 motions, 1) to declare the 3 gazettes notices unconstitutional and 2) therefore an NCM against the MR led Cabinet. Is there a flaw in this? Can Parliament decide if a gazette notice is constitutional or not as Rabok as pointed out above?

Well, that was expected considering the parliament majority is UNP, which was what the dissolution was all about. Now, let’s give the midterm results due constitutional rights pass house majority over to the SLPP.

MR & RW are both fake PM’s and so are all the other politicians.
Sri Lanka a land of only 22 million people, not as densely populated as the other south asian countries, a land blessed with abundant natural resources, still cannot be governed in a sensible and honest manner.

Why !!!!!!!! because politicians from all sides are fakes and the voters are all fakes.
Give the grass eaters a bottle of arrack and a packet of rice and a 1000 rupees and hey presto ! you have their votes.
Want a politician to cross over !!!!! give the bugger 500 million rupees.
Want a politician not to do his job !!!!! give the bastard a luxury life style and all perks.
Want the public service service to run inefficiently !!!!!! give the bastards freedom to be corrupt.

What more does the country require ??????????

MR will win by a huge margin at the elections. I think courts will uphold MS decision and this CT mob will go nuts… I will comment again on that day. MR is the greatest leader SL had for the past 50 years.

We can excuse president Sirisena who comes from a rural background with basic education. His English is poor and so he doesn’t read English books. This is not the case with Rajapaksa. His education is good enough to become a President/Prime Minister. Thus knowing the nuances of parliamentary democracy he should not have accepted the post of Prime Minister. He simply did not have the majority support in parliament. If he thought that he can buy MPs (a subject he specialized during his tenure as President) that is corruption. It should be noted Rajapaksa never speaks about eradicating corruption because he himself is corrupt to the brim. He and his family built a memorial dedicated to their father at state expense! The money spent on the building was Rs.90 million!

No pardon should any means given to Mr Sirisena since he is not new to lanken politics. Over 51 years of experiece he brings with. That he repeats on and on.

It is the mentality AND culture. He had not been a leader before. Nor a speaker or oppostion leader. So his capabilities may be overestimated by the people or choosers in 2015.
He just thought, just because he cant get on with some politicians, he should sack him or her. To the very same manner, he sacked that female head of FCID – by name she was one Dilrukshi Wickramasinghe and painted the picture in favour of them. But in the reality, it was a setback to the UNP govt not being able to continue those investigations the way they started them. However, it was to protect Rajakshes. No press articles were allowed to read about the either.
And to destroy Mr Wickramasinghe, President contracted SIRASA maharaja group from the day one. Sirsasa became partial to Sirisena all the 3 years. There the media fredom given to them were highly abused.
I think as Eran Wickramaratne articulated it right – ” what have NOT we done during last 3.5 years” – meaning lot more work done but MEDIA mafia stood against them not trnasporting it to the ground level people.
Instead Derana and Hiru TV together with local Printed Media WORKED dawn to dusk for come back of Rajakshes.

Was the bond scam the only HUGE corruption this country has faced sofar ? Surely, it should be investigated but not just that but also even large scale corruptoin handlings of Rajakshes too should be investigated.

No, English is the problem. He is provided with all the facitliies. Even if the leaders in EU countries donot possess good English skills, like it is the case with SIRISENA, those leaders too are provided with all the facitlities they need to get them translated.

MR is the biggest coward we have seen. Being appointed the PM till today, he did not address the nation on the controversy the last 2 wks. Instead daily using stage media his cronies GL, wimal, nimal siripala, Dinesh etc were screaming at one sided press conferences. MR left the parliament today before tfr proceedings were concluded on this historic day. His cronies are shouting nonsense on state Tv. MR nor MS had the courage to make a statement to the public.
    Shame

    EDWIN RODRIGO FOUNDATION:
    .
Edwin Rodrigo foundation based in ME has decided to confer an Honorific Addition to Mahinda Rajapaksa name, namely T.
    .

So MR becomes TMR, Thirty Minute Rajapaksa honoring his achievement of being the shortest term PM in the history of the world.

Someone very high up has brought my attention to the fact that what I have said above is not in the best parliamentary tradition. I should not address the 30 minute Prime Minister without adding at least Mister.
      .
So it becomes, Mister TMR, which may be shortened as Mr TMR, which then metamorphoses to MR TMR, which in turn changes to Mister T MR. The absence of any laughter shows that my joke has fallen flat, perhaps because you don’t know who Mr T is. What a loss!
      .
Todays generation does not know Samson but know Samsung. They know MR but not Mr T. They know the Scientific name of the dog (Canis lupus familiaris). But they don’t know to what biological species their President belongs to and go around calling him a d… – not just d.. but bloody pariah d… No wonder the country is going to Canis lupus familiaris.

It is history that the one and only Prime Minister who has been appointed as PM without been ousted without being the official resident at the Temple Trees. Prominent Ministers who were with Mahinda Rajapakse have also participated in ousting him by supporting the no-confidence motion. Can the people rely on such Parliamentarians or even on the President?.

  • 2
    1

We respect Mahinda Rajapakse for being the President at the time LTTE was defeated, but not what he did there after. Instead of restoring Democracy and passing on the benefits to all the Citizens he turned Democratic Sri Lanka to Corrupt Lawless Banana Republic with Jungle Law and Family Rule and Terrorized the entire Nation. He along with the family robbed the Country to bankruptcy. He amended the Constitution to stay in power for ever and openly abused all the Election Laws to stay in power for ever. However he got kicked out and disgraced the Presidency and shamelessly entered Parliament as a back bencher not because he love the Country and Citizens so much but to escape punishment for the atrocities committed by the family during the Family rule. Such a cunning and dangerous Politician, will not be surprised if he found a way to Blackmail him and grab the power from the back door.

In the parliament, may be, there’s confidence but to be proven in decent manner.

In the country, the opposite of it; there’s no people’s confidence; that’s why some are afraid of elections.

    Do MPs represent people?

After resigning of SLFP MPs from the govt, isn’t it ethical for the president to search for loopholes, if given provisions are weak/controversial to dissolve the parliament.

What’s the amount of interference reflected & caused by foreign diplomats’ presence @ the parliament.

Haven’t they shamed the people of their respective countries?

How can we correct these thigs?
