Pictures: ‘Non-Nepotic’ President Sirisena Takes Son To UN General Assembly

President Maithripala Sirisena participated in the 70th Session of the United Nations General Assembly at the UN Headquarters in New York today, accompanied by his son Daham Sirisena who has no official status whatsoever in the Sri Lankan delegation.

When President Sirisena left for New York and when he arrived in New York the Presidential Media portrayed him as a simple man in contrast to his predecessor Mahinda Rajapaksa whose foreign visits were made with a large entourage with the tax payer having to foot enormous bills. These sentiments were echoed by almost all sections of the local media in Sri Lanka. Indeed pictures of him arriving in New York in a disheveled state was hailed as an example of his simplicity.

Sirisena rode to power pledging to eliminate the nepotism and favoritism that marked Rajapaksa reign.

The President is seen with his son Daham, Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera and Justice Minister Wijedasa Rajapakshe.

      No problem.

Couldn’t he find a person outside his family who could do a fine job, for example Darshanie Ratnawalli, HLD Mahindapala, Rajpal Abeynayake, KASmaalam KA Sumanasekere, Dayan the war monger, ………….

The government has in its disposal SWORN TRANSLATORS some of whom are conversant in all three languages.

Also Siri knows enough to understand English. Stop pandering to and worshiping Siri. Are you any different to the old family worshippers?

Prez MY3 is also human being. You CT, dont try to make it a big issue. He is also a father… what MR did was … aubsing his power going all the margins.
This is very unfair to attack Prez this way. He has no means abused anything sofar.

RE: Pictures: ‘Non-Nepotic’ President Sirisena Takes Son To UN General Assembly

“President Maithripala Sirisena participated in the 70th Session of the United Nations General Assembly at the UN Headquarters in New York today, accompanied by his son Daham Sirisena who has no official status whatsoever in the Sri Lankan delegation.”

His son went there because his wife wanted her son to go.

Mr. Sirisena, being a good husband obliged, and took her son.

A few weeks ago, it was his daughter. Now his son.

Is somebody getting paid from MaRa’s stolen billions?

Some Journalists, doesn’t know shit from Shinola.

      Meaning

      Possessing poor judgment or knowledge.

Shinola was a brand of shoe polish previously manufactured in the USA. The alliteration and the fact that the two commodities in the phrase could possibly be confused is the derivation. The distinction is well made; only one of them would be good to apply to your shoes and only particularly dim people could be expected to muddle them up. Of course, outside America, most people don’t know Shinola from anything at all, as they’ve never heard of it. Even in America it would probably not be widely remembered but for this phrase.

The ‘ola’ suffix is popular in the USA as part of trade names, e.g. Crayola, Granola etc. This leads to the pronunciation of Shinola as shine + ola. That spoils the alliteration a little as it would work better as shin + ola.

This phrase is typical of the barrack room vulgarity of WWII, which is where it originated. Other “doesn’t know” phrases, also mostly from the military are, “doesn’t know his arse from a hole in the ground” (or elbow, or a hot rock, or third base), “doesn’t know enough to pee downwind”, “doesn’t know whether to scratch his watch or wind his ass”. The tone is lifted a little by the English conductor Sir Henry Wood who expressed a similar opinion with “he doesn’t know his brass from his woodwind”.

Is Daham Siriisena an accredited translator? When was he recruited for the job? Are his expenses paid by the government? On what basis?

      • 3
        1

        Above the Rest

“Is Daham Siriisena an accredited translator?”

Yes. He has a Pollonaruwa accent his father can understand, unlike the Medamulana Meeharak, Buffalo, accept of the Rajapaksas.

Besides, they can understand each others body language as well, having shared a women, as a mother and wife between them.

        • 0
          2

So Amare where did he get the accreditation from. Which authorised accreditation body?

May be you need to look up a dictionary before you answer a question you obviously haven’t understood.

            Above the Rest

“So Amare where did he get the accreditation from. Which authorised accreditation body?”

Daham, the son of Mr. Sirisena, got his accreditation from his mother, who happens to be the Dearest wife of the Hon. President, Mr. Maitripala Sirisena, and besides has the Plonnaruwa accent.

Too bad, Amarasiri missed out. Could have been a better choice and could have explained MaRa MaRa Chatu MaRa Amana MaRa better, when asked as to what happened to King Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Amarasiri needs to do some lobbing with Mrs. Sirisena.

“Of course Sirisena needed a translator and I’m sure it’s allowed. What’s the problem?”

Yes. There should be no problem.

Daham knows well to translate and articulate to his father in Sinhala. He was doing that from the day he was born to his mother and father. They understand each other’s body language well. They trust each other well.

Besides, Daham was trained by his mother all her life, and accredited by her, who happens to be the wife of Mr. Sirisena.

      What more can you ask?

Do you want to depend on a politician like Mangala Samaraweera or another to give you a half translation? No.

CT and others, Please get over this and move on to MaRa MaRa Charu MaRa Amana Mara HoRa MaRa Dhushana MaRa and his crimes.

Many feel that My3 taking his son is acceptable. He need to have someone close to him, may want his son to have a ‘feel’ for international interaction, etc. Compared to a full plane load in a UL flight, he came on a regular Emirates flight with just six or so people. It is hoped that this young man will learn from these diverse experiences to be a politician in the future. That is acceptable. How about the Bushes of the USA??

I believe critics need not try to ridicule Bambuwa. He will do the job better himself. How could he have included this Podian in the delegation. It is an insult to the rest who accompanied the delegation who are Public figures. What qualification has this brat got other than being the son of the Prez? Are they so naive that they will not earn the wrath of the masses?

The president couldn’t trust the american security officers hence he is forced to take his son with him, just like MR’s son is embedded in his security details.

In the meantime he needed a monitoring thug to keep rest of the team in order, hence the chandia son come handy.

“By the way was Daham charged for the attack on Asela Waidyalankara?”

Good question. What about the large amount of foreign currency that was apparently found in the house of his girlfriend before the elections?

Both police investigations seem to have vanished from media attention.

I can understand that a father travels with the son but would like to know who pays for the son.

I support rule of law, good governance and MS but I am becoming doubtful.

Why did’t he take Kussiamma, whom he took to Buckingham Palace. And the ambitious daughter also. As my driver says [Edited out] I have read here
and elsewhere My3 is no spring chicken. He was, is and will be avaracious – until he is chased out too.

This is one more instance where he gives out the message he does not care for the laws or yahapaalanaya. His mindset is he is the President and he will do what he wants. That will be his downfall – this Johnny come lately Gamaya.

Only six members comprised the Sri Lanka delegation. So in what capacity this BOY is participating at this meeting? Our President Mr. Sirisena also following the foot steps of former President. Is he also a JOKER in the BREEDING? How strange even your own “CONSCIENCE” doesn’t cry out and say “DON’T DO THIS STUPID THINGS” – probably one loses that vital signalling part in your body, once you acquire power. This may be the guy who beat-up one of the DIG son several years back and also had a fight in a night club several months back. People of the country voted these guys to power because of similar activities of MR. Now what is the difference, these guys are also using the tax payers money to take their children for official events out side the country. I don’t think any head of state in a civilized country do it. Don’t they feel guilty to use the tax payers money to take the children for official events representing the country. This is absolutely disgusting. Shame on you MR. President. My hope is that you never do it again. You should have used that money to treat a cancer patient or heart patient who is dying becasue they can’t afford do surgery because they are poor.

CT: Thank you for exposing this ugly act of the president.

It is very important to have a trustworthy family member with the president. His son is not a thief or a thug. I don’t think he will have racing cars. Also, his daughter was trying to do something good for the poor people. We should give them little time to see what they are capable of contributing to the society.

Looks like Maithri has a weakness regarding his offspring that is tarnishing his image and that is most unfortunate. This Daham has proved himself (from his past activities) to be ‘a bad egg’ and Maithri would do well to keep him out of sight.

The last thing we need (and what he needs) is for Maithri to duplicate some of MR’s faults!

Listen CT, President Sirisena considers this occasion one of great personal honour and privilege. He doesn’t take his wife, instead he takes his son whom he wishes to witness proceedings. It does not cost the country one cent more as his wife remains back home.

If he had taken his wife along, would you have said one word? It would have cost the country the same. So Is this an issue of such outlandish plunder that you need to label it the way you have?

I think we all need to realize that SO FAR, President Sirisena has acted responsibly as far as his family is concerned. Long may that, continue.
