Please Look After Sri Lanka

By Janith Thilakaratne

Chief Justice Dr Shirani Bandaranayake

It is already passed a week after the removal of the Chief Justice Dr Shirani Bandaranayake who still alleges to be the legitimate Chief Justice of Sri Lanka. But I wonder why other than a few websites and newspapers; we no longer can hear any news regarding that crucial issue Sri Lanka has gone through. It seems to me that this is like a ‘Stage Drama’ which at the end we all greet with applause and go home till a new drama comes to the stage.

There are few after effects that we must highly consider that happened after this removal. Even though Dr Shirani Bandaranayake alleged her legitimacy, it was a wise decision she has taken to leave the official residence and the chamber. As it is reasonable to presume that if she had not left, then the government would have taken steps to withdraw her which could have been harsh like the manner they arrested Mr Sarath Fonseka right after the 2010 Presidential election. It is the position of all those in Sri Lanka who believe in democracy and the rule of law that Dr. Shirani Bandaranayake is, and continues to be, the lawful Chief Justice of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka. But still how the Sri Lanka Police made sure that she would not make a public statement within the residence and outside is hilarious. We all observed through media how a senior police officer explained to the media that they could not even take a media statement outside the official resident, giving the lame excuse that it is a high security zone. But a few days prior to that, day and night protests were conducted outside the official resident of the Chief Justice with vibrant music, and on the day the parliament passed the impeachment Police turned a blind eye allowing them to celebrate by eating Kiribath (Milk rice) and lighting of fireworks. It is a popular secret that Sri Lanka Police is just complying with the orders, albeit how is it possible for a man who wears the uniform after taking of an oath that he would commit to protect the law and order of the country, to degrade his conscience by licking the boots of these in power, just to be loyal to get a promotion or just to keep what he has already got.

After all we should not forget about the allegations leveled against our former Chief Justice Dr. Shirani Bandaranayake. The Judiciary is a separate body from the other branches of a State since there should be an independent and impartial umpire to decide the actions taken by the elected legislature and executive. Judges do not engage in politics and she should not do so either. But if we have a look at the judicial history after 1978, it is not that difficult to understand that the government or mostly the executive president has always appointed judges to the superior courts who they think to be vulnerable to their commands. So as to make sure the legitimate reviewer, would not declare anything against them. But we can be proud that we had justices in the superior courts like Chief Justice Neville Samarakoon, Justice Mark Fernando, etc., and today also we have justices like that and they were revealed during the process of impeachment. It is hard to include Dr. Shirani Bandaranayake into that respective category, because she is one reason for the ultimate power holds by the president, since she supported the 18th amendment and all the government decisions. So finally she had become a victim of her own accord. But I would like to remind that this is not about an individual, but as a whole the independence of the judiciary that is in jeopardy and that’s the issue we all have to give importance to.

Arguing about the impeachment procedure is no longer useful as I think. Because the unfairness and injustice of it being continuously reiterated by the International Organization, International Bar Association, and world recognized judges like Justice C.G Weeramantri and almost all the other distinguished legal professionals except a few government puppets like Professor of Law G.L Peiris.

So I have no intention of arguing about it. But how the things are moving after the removal is not sound at all. Firstly the appointment of the new Chief Justice is rather tragic. Reasonable people allege Mr. Mohan Peiris is a person with an unpleasant history in the legal profession. During the tenure which he worked as the Attorney General he withdrew many controversial cases relating to the government ministers and politicians. And in the same time he fulfilled the requests of his family and friends without any hesitation. Also he is the one who created controversy by informing the United Nations in a deposition defending the government’s human rights record that a missing Ekneligoda was alive and well, living in another country. A person with such history being appointed as the Chief Justice of Sri Lanka would not do any good to the country but it will further lead us to the miracle of Asia.

On the day(15th of January), when the new Chief Justice was appointed, the entrance to the Supreme Court was closed and when the lawyers asked under what law it was closed, they had no answer to give. Further media personnel were not allowed to enter the premises. Even though the lawyers protested and demonstrated that there was no law to prevent the journalists from entering the premises, Sri Lanka Police simply ignored the question and continued surrendering to the higher command given to them.

This decision of President Mahinda Rajapakse is nothing but another landmark on his path towards being the sole dictator of Sri Lanka. Someone who has no respects for law and do not have any shame and fear cannot be stopped. The particular point that such person gets power is the tragic moment which terminates of the democracy of the country. Appointing Mr.Mohan Peiris as the Chief Justice shows that President Mahinda Rajapakse need to assure to the citizens that no one can stop him or go against him.

It is no longer a secret that President Mahinda Rajapakse had several discussions with Superior court judges, high court judges and members of the BASL before and after the appointment to make sure they all support him. Now the BASL is silent and judiciary is functioning as if nothing happened. But the few prominent lawyers who actively engaged in the struggle to secure the independence of the judiciary are being threatened by a group that identified themselves as a patriotic taskforce. Simple outcome of all this is that, we the citizens of Sri Lanka have two options. One is to be loyal to the Rajapakse family and to get treated as patriots or go with the own conscience and be another victim of a clandestine death or be stigmatized as traitors.

The behavior of puppets of President Rajapakse who serve in the parliament as the representatives of people should be highly criticized in the process. Their misbehavior demonstrates their ignorance of the law in the country. And I am wondering about the fact that currently we have politicians in parliament who are more educated and know the law better than superior court judges. The person who made that statement is not anyone else but the most patriotic minister in the Parliament Mr. Wimal Weerawansa who would say anything to please the president.

But after all no one can think or recognize what we should do. As per the recent interview given by former editor of the Sunday Leader, Frederica Jansz, we all do not want to be heroes or heroines “, “My children need a Mum and not a heroine””, so for the sake of the job, security of family, we all decide to keep the mouth shut and just be happy with what we have for the sake of being so. So what we need is a change in the political culture of Sri Lanka, till that we would never be able to stop the journey of Rajapakse family towards the sole ownership of our motherland. As Dr. Shirani Bandaranayake herself left her official premises she managed to say few words, “Please look after the three of us” which are symbolic of the fear that prevails now. Now we all need to plead “Please look after Sri Lanka”.

MARA’s long term plan is to get rid of every threat from opposition political parties, Judiciary as well as private business community who contribute finalcially, physically, legally and morally to opposition parties, so he could monopolise his Dictatorial regime for ever.

MARA knowing that it is the Middle and upper class Business community who contribute both Financially and Politically to opposition parties are the greatest threat to his dynasty, he systatimacally plan to destablise both upper and Middle class business and professional communities so his rule is guaranteed for life.

Also MARA uses media machinery towards Sinhala extrimist propaganda, talking and writing fake history favouring Sinhala race to induce Rural and villege folks, while exporting poor women to middle east as slave labour to earn Foreign Exchange.

MARA jailed Gen.Sarath Fonseka and Impeached CJ. madam Shirani Bandaranayake using Govt. Press, Radio and TV propeganda machinery. He used them first to accuse the victims, followed by Govt.thugs, police and the security forces to intimidate, threat, hurt and finally arrest and jail or murder them.

This has become a mere cake walk for Rajapakses after making all the opposition parties impotent and continously Bribing the Buddhist Monks and preletes for his political propeganda.

MARA frauduently bankrupted Golden key empire due to Hon.Lalith Kotalawela been a staunch UNP supporter. Similarly acquiring Daya Gamage’s Sugar farm and Harry Jayawardena’s Sugar plantations are other examples.

Similarly while Rajapakses started Building hotel chains from North to East to West and South…..they also have a 50% stake on the rest of the five star hotels through owning shares.

Similarly they systematically plan to acquire rest of the Five star hotels by increasing 5 star hotel room rates thereby making them less guest occupancy…..and loosing business, and thereby start buying their stake through stock market.

These all happen while Basil giving bogus tourist arrival figurs in the media….while Gulf Air stopping Colombo flights.

last two months alone 30 Free Trade BOI factories were closed loosing 1500 Jobs and the Foreign investers kept a polla ( Borrowed but not paid) over a Billion Rupees to local Banks and ran away without even paying EPF,ETF to the staff and workers.

These are all taking place while MARA saying that the economy is booming, while SB Disanayake saying country is heading towards US $10,000 per capita income…..and CB Governor dsaying that both USA and EU praise our economic progress.

It is time to Audit CB’s Gold and Foreign Currency reserve.

MARA’s long term plan is to Monopolise the whole economy under their posession similar to a Dictator and to rule the country for ever.

MARA Postrers, banners and Cutouts in every corner of the Country, and Both Media Press, TV and Radio Publicity and also naming every thing from Dana to Buddhist preletes upto mega Stadiums, roads, harbours and Airtports under their name say it all.

While doing everything from Building world’s tallest Buddhist statutes to building Pansalas, temples, Giving mega Danas, Luxuary vehicles, Air tickets, overseas trips, Bringing Buddha Relics to country are all part of MARA strategy to hide behind the yellow robe to instigate communal violence, in case of an economic uprising.

Surely and definitely people are going to rise against MARA dictatorial regime….and it is not a matter of How……but….…WHEN.

The ex CJ, Mrs. Shirani not only betrayed her own honorable profession and its respect hard earned for centuries but also left the capability and suitability of women for leadership, fought vigorously to gain by women activists is questioned.

She turned the court in to a political arena and trapped in the net her deceiving media and lawyer friends setup.

No matter to what extent you get the western education be on your own feet and mind where your feet are. It is Sri Lanka.

D.Shirani Bandaranayake has, indeed, taken a wise decision to leave the official residence. But she is still the legitimate CJ. One thing is clear – The new CJ or MR and even GL will find it embarassing to address any conference in the West other than China and the Islamic countries. However, we will have to wait patiently till a decision is taken at the Commonwealth forum next month. Moreover, we will also have to wait how other judges will react in the long run. The reversing of the Orders of the SC and the AC is a black mark on the history of Judiciary. Future law students will definitely come to know about the interference and mischievous caused to the independence of judiciary, in addition to the uncivilized behaviour of the ruling Parliamentarians. What a disgrace MR and his family are carrying to the next generation.

It is much known fact that after Sri Lanka Parliament, it is Sri Lanka’s Police Department that is the most corrupt institution.

If anybody wants to get a good bottle of Kassipu, he could get it from a known policeman, from inside a police station. I am writing this with experience.

Also it’s a known fact that any traffic police officer could make upto 10,000 to 20,000 rupees per day from road duty. That’s why they prefer to be a traffic policeman than any other duty. Therefore they do not need increments as they automatically get them through underhand.

Police obedient to Govt. is a santhosam (bribes) they make from public, while govt. covering their backs.

Who ever ate Kiribath…..the day they are going to womit them is not far.

With greatest respect I salute this student from the Law Faculty. Under the present state of State terror a student making a statement like this gives some hope to the people of this country. Janith has clearly understood the political situation underlining the present crisis. I fully agree with Janith’s statement “other than a few websites and newspapers; we no longer can hear any news regarding that crucial issue Sri Lanka has gone through”. The crucial point in the present crisis is clear to Janith, to wit “this is not about an individual, but as a whole the independence of the judiciary that is in jeopardy and that’s the issue we all have to give importance to”. With due respect to Janith I must say the statement “But after all no one can think or recognize what we should do” carries some pessimistic flavor in it. I think you can take some inspiration from reading “Lakutika Jathaka” from the “Jathaka Potha” or you may read the short story “The Revenge” by Guy de Maupassant the translation of it is available in “Pransa Keti Katha” by Ediriweera Sarathchandra. So the ultimate question is not only “what we should do” but also “who is going to do?”. “Hithopadesha” says “There are enough heroes in public meetings and in the presence of young girls, but when the swards glow with sparks in battle fields there are only few heroes” I wish Janith belongs to the last category.

Hereafter law students will find it difficult to analyze the conflicting judgments from the New Law Reports in answering the questions. I think lecturers will either have to search for Mahinda Executive Reports (MER) or his stooges to lecture on conflicting judgments. It won’t be a surprise if Wimal Weerawansa is appointed as the Dean of the Faculty of Law and will be in charge of Constitutional Law.

Fellow citizens no one is safe from injustice in Sri Lanka today. Even the most ardent supporters of the President today, may find themselves unable to seek justice tomorrow. So don’t feel secure by the thought that you because of your wealth or connections, you are immune from today’s system of justice. You simply are not safe. Many of those who understand that, have spirited the bulk of their wealth overseas, and those who are not wealthy have taken themselves out of Sri Lanka to live in places they believe still have some recourse to the law.

If you find your property in Colombo 7 worth Rs500M taken over by the state tomorrow there is nothing you can do. The UDA will show a law that says places of historical interest can be taken over and that yesterday your home was declared a place of historical interest and therefore you have to leave. You CANNOT appeal. If or whether, you may get any compensation is not clear, and most likely you will not. Further you have no idea who will occupy your land. This is just an example of what can happen, but it goes for someone run over by a Govt. minister’s vehicle, or someone beaten up by Govt. goons or worse killed by anyone under direct orders or by someone close to even the first dog!

So this applies to all, be it a Buddhist priest or beggar on the road. Put simply, “NO ONE IS SAFE” You have NO rights anymore in Sri Lanka, and you live today purely because you are lucky NOT to have fallen foul of an imbecile in the regime. So any supporter of the Govt. who reads this will NOT be immune.

It is this injustice that we common powerless citizens of Sri Lanka MUST fight against. Until there is a RULE of LAW where we have recourse to fair treatment, if we are wronged there is NO JUSTICE. Is anyone doubting that this is the state of play in Sri Lanka? Even under autocratic kings of Sri Lanka there was a fairer system of justice than we have at present. Today all that has to happen is that we fall foul of a regimite, and we are as good as gone! That is plain wrong and not what we have cast ballots, fought for independence, or demonstrated against.

We are not people funded by foreign NGOs for their masters, we have not been paid or bribed or given bottles of arrack to demonstrate. We have NOTHING to gain but EVERYTHING to lose by standing up for what is right. At least we know what is right and wrong, whilst our leaders seem to be too inebriated with the power they have been given that they fail to discharge their duties as fit and proper servants of the people, who they are. They have lost all sense of right from wrong. Let us therefore begin with simply explaining this to two others, ask them repeat it to two persons each.

We have asserted for ourselves, that we human beings are the most superior species on the planet. We are possessed with the power of logic, the power of analysis of complex issues, the power of “rationality” and very importantly, what we like to call “our conscience”.

This aspect is triggered when we knowingly do something wrong and is referred to as a “guilt conscience” where we mentally suffer from the knowledge that we have done something wrong. Later, we attempt to atone for our wrong, by making supplications to god for forgivance, or conducting meritorious deeds (pin) that hopefully reduce the impact of the wrong deed.

I would like to think that Sri Lankans have not arbitrarily abandoned this aspect of our “superiority” where we lament or have remorse for the wrongs committed from the past.

One disturbing aspect I have seen is that our collective memories are quite short. In the blinking of an eye, we have moved on with life, continuing to attend to our daily chores, responsibilities towards family, duties at work, obligations to our elderly relatives etc.

Is this just what it seems like on the surface, or are we evolving into a new form of human being, who has let go of his conscience?

      LP,

There is no such thing as an absolute human conscience it is a very relative to the cultures and sub-cultures of our relative upbringings. To illustrate this with an example on this the in bygone days in India some untouchable’s caste people who were not allowed to be seen during the day time could operate only in the nights. One may have murdered someone for little cash or some goody and would be proudly seated in the front row brimming with joy when the spoils are shared before dawn. Yet another not having committed murder would be ashamed of himself that he was not able to contribute that night.

There are much lesser examples of beef eating, pork eating on a particular day etc that does not leave any bad conscience depending on one’s religion etc. Mr A T Kovoor once told me that it was considered disrespectful for women to cover their breasts in the presence of a higher cast man in Kerala during his boyhood.

      LP,

Further to my previous; as per the recent findings of science mankind as a whole has not changed at all over the past 100,000 years. Some 2-3 million year fossils finds in the Middle East and Indonesia cast doubt as to the one and only African rift valley origins of mankind.

Further it’s not only culture and mematics alone but also our genetics and the recent epigenetic findings too play an important part. role. Some if not all of the top NAZI leaders, ongoing modern day serial killers and some top level psychopathic CEO and chairman of multinationals and giant companies that in reality run the important Govts behind the scenes all have it in their immortal and selfish genes to be born ruthless as well. These people are very kind and gentle to their own families and close kith, kin & ideological sympathisers and empathisers but not to the rest of mankind.

Some like Regan, Bush, VP and MARA are also governed by unreliable superstitious astrological predictions and presume to fulfil their destiny ordained roles sometimes with an afterlife 70 virgins and/or reincarnating bonus thrown into deal as well. .

Let me end this response to LP’s question with a question of my own for any writer and/or reader to respond:-

Could this be nature’s modus operandi in trying to balance the so-called supremacy and viciousness of some or the many in the man in the human race? Perhaps evolutionary biologists will address this issue in the future if they are not already with it.

For the moment for CJ Shiranee Bandaranayake it is not possible to fight single handed against this corrupt system. In the absence of mass public support and resistance to the dictatorial trend she alone cannot stand against the tide.

It is therefore prudent to take necessary steps to safeguard herself and her family by not involving in this unholy mess. It may be a blessing in disguise that she is spared the torment of having to go against her conscience and sense of justice to pass laws and judgements to please an unjust and unrelenting tyrant.

Sometimes we feel that we must fight against injustice. At the same time it is useless to cast pearls before swine. Discretion is the better part of valour. Today Sri Lankan society does not appreciate the values of democracy and justice. It is best left to sort out its own problems and self destruct. Maybe after learning the hard lessons there will be a will to reform and constuct a better land and society for all. Until then allow nature to run its own course.

Had other professionals and trade unions and government officers jointly staged a protest on that crucial day, MR would have bow down. It will be too late when the knife comes to their neck. Do not forget the past incidents during the period when Felix Bandaranayake was FM.

Janith, a well reasoned analysis of the prevailing situation, combined with a sober sense of justice and a respect for truth. The comments are an indication of the fact that you speak on behalf of the people, for all those who value truth, justice, freedom and just common decency. It takes exceptional courage of conviction and moral integrity to speak out in the face of the most draconian, terrorist dictatorship. You are a voice of the people and the conscience of a degraded and moribund, neo-colonial political order.
    All strength to you.

I’d rather be hated for my smartness than loved for my stupidity” – Antany Peter

Sri Lanka will continue to move forward, if you say it is going backward then you do not know what is politics in the strategic location of the Indian Ocean, but listen to the foreigners who are the masters of dividing and fooling others. I have an obligation to support the President as a Sri Lankan intellectual. I do not take arms against fellow countrymen. I do not join with the foreigners to undermine fellow countrymen either. I work with fellow countrymen to change or develop the country. I lead others by my intellectuality and good deeds. Let’s ask ourselves one important question. What is the value of the Democracy and Commonwealth? The Chinese do not believe in democracy, nor part of the Commonwealth, but they are advancing much faster than us. The Westerners ruled and ripped off our country for more than 440 years, but they never done anything to eliminate the caste systems, gender inequality, and racial, language and religious discriminations. Because they knew it will continue to eat us and keep us under them forever. Furthermore, India the largest democratic country by its population created the Tamil armed groups to keep Sri Lanka under its wings. However, India also understood that letting the Tamil armed groups grow beyond its control would be detrimental to India. This is the reason Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi reached a very good political solution for the Tamils’ issues in Sri Lanka under the Indo-Sri Lanka agreement. Unfortunately the LTTE did not see what Rajiv Gandhi did, because of the Tamil diaspora. The 2002 ceasefire agreement between the LTTE and the Sri Lankan government also broken by the LTTE. A reasonable political minded person knows that Prabhakaran would not have fought against India without the help of the Westerners through the Tamil diaspora. And also Prabhakaran would not have broken the 2002 ceasefire agreement with the Sri Lankan government without the help of the Westerners through the diaspora. If you can answer the following questions you will know who have most of the Tamils’ and Sinhalese’s blood on their hands. Who have been deliberately stopping the peace agreements? Who have been guiding the diaspora? Who have been fuelling “hate and bitterness” among the Tamils and Sinhalese? Who have been facilitating the funding to the LTTE, even though they had everything within their reach to stop money get transferred from the diaspora to the LTTE. The answer is Western political minds through their intelligence network. Think about the lost lives since 1987, think about the suffering since 1987, think about the lost opportunities to develop the country and people’s lives. The Westerners created bitter divisions among the Tamils, Sinhalese, and Indians through the diaspora. The Westerners act like peace makers, but they are not. They talk about democracy and human rights to fool others, in order to turn people against their own governments to destabilise the developing countries. The US, the UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand are called five eyes. They called their powerful countries as the “United” States of America and “United” Kingdom, because the know the value of “UNITED” and the the benefits of “DIVIDING” others. The truth is, the Westerners have a vital interest to divide every community and every country to rule others. There is a most ugliest face underneath their white faces, it is pure evil. Not many people have the ability to see their real face, but few of us do through our hard work and sacrifices. Ask Julian Assange and Bradley Manning, they will tell you more about the Westerners evil side. Julian Assange and Bradley Manning are Westerners, but they exposed the truth and ended up in a prison in the US and stuck inside an embassy in London, UK. Some Sri Lankans and some other Asians are backing the Westerners for their own self-centred lifestyle, they don’t care about their own people, or their motherland.

The removal of the CJ is not something new in the world, it happens in the world, including in the United States. However, some eliments may use this opportunity to bring chaos into the country, in order to achieve their ulterior motives. Remember, few eliments were fuelling the civil war and benefited by the war, but not the Tamils or Sinhalese. We must not let that happen again. The president appointed the CJ, the 2/3 of the parliament wanted her to leave the office. If I was the CJ, I would have resigned once the parliament decided to remove me from the office. Taking this matter to the UN is not advisable. It is a new beginning for the CJ. The Chief Justice Shirani Bandaranayake has a huge potential. She has a lot to give for the country. She must get involved in politics and bring new ideas to the table. Lets people decide whether she is worthy or not. She must not go to the UN, but go to her people and put her ideas forward, in order to develop the country. She must not go to the enemies who divide others, invade others’ countries and kill millions of people to keep themselves on top. Do not go to the devil to get justice. I encourage every Sri Lankan to bring forth good ideas to the table to develop the country. If you want to get involved in politics to help the foreigners then you will fail utterly as Sarath Fonseka. Mr Fonseka recently reiterated that he needs outside help to topple the government. I am extremely disappointed by his statement. I urge every Lankan to stop listening to the enemies who divide us, they use every opportunity to bring chaos into the country to rule us. We must understand what is missing, then find a solution within us, looking outside will create more problem and chaos than a solution. The country has been fighting for thirty years, people are free from fighting for only three years. Just wait for few more years, be patient, you all went through the bloody war for thirty years for nothing. The Sri Lankans have been suffering from the independence, due to lack of smart leadership. As intellectuals, we are sharing our ideas with the leaders to make them act wisely, it is a process it will take time. I know very well about the parliament members, can we change those MP’s mindset overnight? I am also well aware that Rajapaksa brothers are dominating the country. Does it really matter if Rajapaksa brothers are developing the country? The extremely talented Sri Lankans will continue to direct the country leaders into the right path. The President does not have an answer for everything, but he has the ability to deal with the external threats better than any other leader, this is extremely important to the country, because Sri Lanka is in a strategic location, the past, the present and the future superpowers want to influence the country. Therefore, Lets approach matters very pragmatically for sake of the innocent people who have died due to the bloody war. The Tamils are in the bottom, because of their disunity. I never seen such a unity among the Tamils as I seen among the Rajapaksa brothers. May be we need such a close family ties to overcome the Westerners’ and Indians’ divide and conquer strategy. The Indians and the Westerners can easily fool the Tamils, because of their disunity. People like us who are enlightened and committed to bring a change can’t do anything. I am isolated by the Western governments. The propaganda against me are shocking, even my family members, relatives, and friends believe the Westerners more than me. Due to my writing the Westerners do not even allow me to get a job, they did not allow me to sell my house for a profit, because they knew the money will be used to expose their evil deeds. They are keeping me in financial hardship and perfect isolation by their dirty propaganda. My fellow Tamils are keeping silence, they gave millions of dollars to the LTTE, but nobody would support me to have a website to expose the Westerners evil deeds. The Tamils are prepared to undermine their fellow Tamils, in order to cater their own self-centered lifestyles. We all know how the Tamil armed groups fought and destroyed each other, the TNA has its own agenda, the TGTE has its own agenda, Global Tamil Forum has its own agenda. They all concern about being leaders, they are not concern about the Tamils. If the TNA is leading the Tamils, then why TGTE leader call himself a Prime Minister for the Tamils? I am ashamed to call myself a Tamil. I really don’t believe the Westerners could have isolated me this much if I am a Chinese, because the Chinese are very close to each other, this is the reason the West could not invade China, or could not stop China overtaking the United States economically.

The Westerners ruled and ripped off the Indian Subcontinent for more than 440 years, but they never done anything to eliminate the caste systems, gender inequality, and racial, language and religious discriminations. Four hundred years is very long time, at least 10-12 generations. The Westerners could have done a lot to the Indian Subcontinent, but they deliberately done little to keep the Asians under them. The Westerners have a lot to talk about the Indian Subcontinent’s failure than China’s communism, but they won’t talk about it, because it will highlight their deliberate misleading to keep the Asians under them, plus the Indian Subcontinent is not a threat to their dominant power, but China. “English are to blame for India’s backwardness” published by the Dominion Post, written by Philip Collins, on page B5, Dated January 5, 2013. The Dominion Post is one of the major newspapers in New Zealand. Not all the Westerners are naive or blind, there are people like Philip Collins who sees the Westerners’ evil side. The Indian Subcontinent has enough intellectuals to develop the Subcontinent, but the system won’t allow the intellectuals to lead. Therefore, the intellectuals leave the Subcontinent and develop the Western Countries. This system was developed by the Westerners, in order to keep the Indian Subcontinent poor and weak. We fought against the Westerners to have our freedom, but we still trust them, listen to them and run our political system according to them. This is a huge disaster. The Indians are too scared to change the manufacturing sector, because they don’t want another East India Company. However, they are happy to run a political system recommended by the Westerners. The Chinese are really smart, because they have chosen a political system to suits their culture and ideology. The Chinese did not choose a political system recommended by their enemies. We must stop listening and trusting our enemies. We must develop a system according to our culture and ideology, like the Chinese did, otherwise the Indian Subcontinent will be struggling forever. We must depart from the old system and bring some changes. Being part of the Commonwealth is only helping us to stay behind. Time for us to move forward, our policies are not helping the Indian Subcontinent to move forward as China. Am I recommending a communist system? Not at all, but we need some changes, if we come up with something good, the Indians may even consider our system in the future. We must find a way to lift the whole Indian Subcontinent. India can’t try something new, because it is too big. In India 627 million people do not have access to toilets, the Indian leaders do not even provide basic needs to their own people. The Indian leaders believe in God and democracy, they are vegetarians too, but love their bribes. Sri Lanka is a small country, and its leaders are committed to their people more than the Indian leaders, at least the Sri Lankan leaders provide access to toilets to their people. As Sri Lankans we must try something new and help the whole Indian Subcontinent, otherwise we will be betraying our future generations.

      Antany Peter,

There’s a bei difference between educated smart and critical thinker and a dumb ass or a perty goon. When you wear the dumb or goon glasses you see nothing but what the glass transpires and I think you are one of them…sorry. Please read my following comments.

1)It is British who united whole Sri Lanka under one Government where as before it was ruled by many Indian and Local Kings who were constantly fightine each other for land Grab.

2)If not for British /sri Lanka would have still under Indian Kings Similar to Kandyan Kingdom

3)The only mistake British did was handed Sri Lanka to a bunch of Crazy Parliamentarians who ruined our Country. They would have given it to Supreme Court to Govern….and not Sinhala uneducated Pin Padi Party thugs.

4)Forget about criticising British for your faults….where British ruled over 100 other nations like USA,Canada,Australia, Newzeland,India, Malaysia,Philippines, Singapore which are doing very well and still praise British for educating them on good governance, law and order, health, education. ethics and high living standard……where as in Sri Lanka 60% of population still live like Veddha community in Cadjan houses….eating…helapa, mannokka, and kiribath.

5)What do you talk about democrazy and election…….knowing MARA always used Thugs and Rigged votes in the past and will continue in future. Therefore he never allow opposition parties to come into power. Aso same with other Govt.Businesses and Instititions, monopolising Law and order and civilian life by force.

6)China is no more a communist State. Infact it was USA and Europe who helped China to open it’s economy and be an economic powerhouse. Now China has more than 300 Billioneers…inUS Dollars.

7)It was the Govt. Parliament goats who allowed MARA to kick CJ. Those Blind Govt. Pin Padi thugs are mere MARA slaves.

      8) Chinese Leaders are honest, educated, qualified and love their country…..not the Sri Lankan uneducated, uncultured, uncivilised, Tsunami, Election and 10% robbers, contract thieves, drug dealers, murderers, White van abducters, rapists and child molesters. Please visit a police station or contact a known policeman to get a very good bottle of Kasippu. They have in handy. Also yesterday they destroyed 75 acres of Ganja in Govt forest reserve…….so now you could get best Ganja also from Pol……ce friend.

9)India is far more developped than Sfri Lanka and now world’s fourth best force…both in economy and military might.

10)All the rest of your writing is mere crap and bogus….please read other comments.

Are you not wasting your time with a bogus, self-righteous and somewhat handicapped character that writes long careless, haphazard tirades and thinks he is being smart and is serving his masters to satisfy his own unreliable conscience?

The Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard said recently that the global economic and strategic centre-of-gravity continues to move east. As economic and political analysts, we will make sure that the East become the economic powerhouse. Sri Lanka is in the East in a strategic location, it is in good hands, nothing will happen to our motherland no matter how loud the foolish dogs are barking. Do you think the Sun will not rise, because the foolish dogs are barking continually?

We will not allow the Aussies and Kiwis to rule us in our backyard forever. This is Australasia, our backyard, this is not Australeurope, not the Europe’s backyard. There is no greater shame than rule by others in our backyard who are less than 1% of our population.

As for me, there is no greater achievement than breaking the minority’s 700 years of dominant, and placing the majority Asians in frontline.

If Canada is trying to push Sri Lanka out of the Commonwealth then four other countries are behind Canada. Have you ever heard the Five Eyes? The US, the UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand are called five eyes. They named their powerful countries as the “United” States of America and “United” Kingdom, because they know the value of “UNITED” and the the benefits of “DIVIDING” others.

I’d rather be hated for my smartness than loved for my stupidity – Antany Peter.

Yes Power house of the East…….but where we stand in the east…….when our main foreign income is Middle East labor with a sword hanging over their necks, 70% population under nourished, 40% under employed, with no proper health care, education, Agriculture or Industrial revolution taking place, while 6 billion rupee agriculture incentives given to farmers with no visible results.

You are talking about our economy 50 years behind the rest of the world.
Please go to any large tea estate and check their output with age old tea trees which are not been re-planted for ages, and the ever closing tea factories.
Other than importing all cars, lorries, busses and all their spare parts…….do we ever make a single visible spare part (leave alone a vehicle) in Sri Lanka…..Do you know it’s the easiest to make windscreens for vehicles…….and China started manufacturing vehicles after making Windscreens to the world market. Why can’t we follow china…..where is the progress after British left…..in all aspects of tea, rubber, coconut, agriculture, industry etc..Sri Lanka Even loosing Free trade zone and the Tourism business lately while Basil Rajapakse lying to media.
Even the only cargo ship we had which was donated by Japan was ceased in South Africa last year.

How can you develop a country when a top heavy Family and the parliament and Provincial councils eats up 30% of GDP as their dministrative expence. Basil recruit 100,000 party members just to administer Divineguma 85 Billion project.

You can’t fool all the people all the time.

Yes we have to look after our own country from the world’s biggest thief…Tsunami Alibaba and the Parliament Thieves, thugs, drug dealers, rapists, 10% commission Kakkas, Bribe party jumpers, Uneducated, uncultured and uncivilised thugs.

Also the Police Crooks, thieves, Kasippu and ganja kings, Bribery and kappan takers and MARA ass lic…ers.

It is time to Audit Central Bank Gold and Foreign Currency reserve as we are not sure of their existence anymore.

Also CB holding Foreign International Bonds and other Assets should be audited. Also Parliament Ministers and MP’s assets, their Bank accounts and Foreign assets and their Ministries assets also should be Audited.

After Colombo Museum robbery theft, which British Government preserved for so long and gave us with the Museum Building when they left…..and now suddenly the swards, coins, Rings and precious stones got stolen….. anything is possible with thieves like MR and CB Governer by his side and Mr. 10% cool and the gang beside Divineguma Jackpot Bonanza.

It’s time to keep an eye on all our assets to safeguard from Rajapakse Alibaba and Company.

Yes time has come to look after and safeguard our country from our own GUARDIAN ALIBABAS.

How to get rid of a dictator
Role of UPFA- all of ministers and deputies except Rajapakse family members should identify they are being used by the family to continue on directorial rule. All these talented stooges like professor Pieris will never will get responsible ministry and will never be able to do anything productive for the people of Sri Lanka. They should be assertive and try to get involved to posts likes urban development, economic development , finance ministerial position without leaving them to unpatriotic Rajapakse family.

Role of UNP- Try to remove weak leader of Ranil Wickramasinghe and move forward with forming a strong coalition with the involvement of other opposition parties including Tamil parties. This way they will be able to have majority in next parliamentary election so that MA RA will not be able to change constitution and laws of the country at his will

People of Sri Lanka- they should not get caught to false patriotic propaganda of Rajapakse regime. Sri Lanka should remain democratic country with all communities should be having equal rights. All religions can help people to go to heaven without getting any help from MARA family

Way forward- our constitution should be change to prevent emerging of monster like this again
