President Silent On Daughter’s High-handedness

President Maithripala Sirisena has remained tight-lipped about the antics of his daughter Chathurika Sirisena who used her presidential connections to get government servants to accompany her on a visit to Welikanda, Polonnaruwa supposedly ‘to get first hand information about the problems of villagers’.

Chthirika Sirisena and Maithripala SirisenaShe stated to the media that she had not come ‘just to show face with an entourage’, but had come instead to share her father’s dream in helping to solve the problems of the people. She added that this is why she was accompanied by state officials.

The move drew a lot of flak since such abuse was roundly condemned by Sirisena during his presidential campaign where he vowed that if elected he would put an end to nepotism and family bandyism.

Colombo Telegraph launched an investigation and questioned the President’s Media Unit regarding Chathurika Sirisena’s official stance. We asked the Head of President’s media to tell us on what basis/capacity does she go around the country accompanied with state officials. The President’s office is yet to answer queries that were put forward by Colombo Telegraph.

Are we expecting “a radical path destruction” from the president?

Absolutely ridiculous to see unnecessary media exposure to Chathu’s service to the hapless poorest of poor , when there are hundreds of other issues of public interest.

It doesn’t mean whatever President’s daughter does is right, perhaps not seen in mature democracies in west. But should we forget we live in south Asia ? over 40% live below poverty line ?

Question is what over 100 ministers do or why they don’t do ? we know in our country, all those guys get ministerial posts to make money , some guys sole purpose it that, that’s the truthm we haaven’t come out of this sad truth.

So let’s see what this girl does, if good, then let her continue.

        John,

Chathu’s services to the poor might well have been with good intention and unassuming but she is the daughter of the President; any such activities draw attention from media and susceptible for concoction of stories. Let this be a lesson for both the President and the daughter to be mindful about such activities. There are enough civil servants who can be dispatched and why chose his daughter?

          Burning Issue,

Certainly Prez & daughter will learn a lesson, would be more careful.

Public servants are little better than Ministers, bribery perhaps lesser in quantity, even to move a file from one table to another they need kickbacks , that’s why our country is like this, 67 years after British left & that’s why Prez Premadasa is considered a model prez because he used near filth ( as a Minister ,thereafter officials knew how to work with Premadasa) to get public servants to do their job.
(accidentally my first job , though for a little time, as a professional was in Premadasa’s pet ministry when he was Prez, so got first hand experience)

          maalumiris/Max,
I would certainly support if NR or YR did good things but they tarnished their image beyond repair , I doubt they can ever recover even if they wear yellow robes for the rest of their lives.

Uncle John, how come when Chathu does it, its right and when NR does the same, it is bad? Dont you ashamed of yourself when you build up such silly points in favour of your political gurus?

        @John
        You not serious, right ?
If young Yoshitha Rajapakse did the same thing, I am sure you would have a great deal to say about it.
Why the kid-glove treatment for Sirisenas ??
Was the Great Yahapalana Revolution simply eyewash ?

“If young Yoshitha Rajapakse did the same thing,”

Yoshitha Rajapaksa is in the Navy, an state employee.

Namal is unemployed and unemployable. He is a lawyer and a politicians, both are liars. He can hang around with his dad’s coterie (b***s carriers).

Come, come.. NV, Yoshitha was not born with a Naval rank stamped on his chest.. nor Namal with a National Dress and Ministerial portfolio

If memory serves, they both did similar things (admittedly probably not as gracious) using their Pappy’s name before they came to such “greatness” of Naval rank and Ministerial Portfolio

What are MS offspring’s credentials that enable you to justify the actions that have caused so much furor ? Besides being Daddy’s Little Girl and having a “good heart” of course !

Presumably, the daughter hanging round with her fathers BS carriers is OK by you ?

Yoshitha’s maternal grandfather was an Admiral in the navy.

“Namal with a National Dress and Ministerial portfolio”

Namal was the prince in waiting, in line to succeed his father of the House of Mahindo Corleone.

“What are MS offspring’s credentials that enable you to justify the actions that have caused so much furor ?”

Its a news to me. Where have I justified MS off springs active participation in politics?

Would Roshita have been sent the Royal Naval Academy in the UK, early in his career, if he was not the President’s son?

Even if you look at the mirror which shows only the upper part of your body will have no use as you are sitting on the very thing you are looking for.

The President is tight lipped on a great many other things also.

He has not explained why he had to bring in Ali Babas thieves into his cabinet.

Why he needs a gargantuan cabinet.

Why all the inverstigations into corruption and malpriactice are either stalled or suspended due to lack of evidence.

Why he is allowing MPs to have dog fights over ministerial portfolios.

Why Mattala Airport is not shut down once and for all instead of wasting good money after bad money trying to maintain that white elephant.

Explain when he is going to step down like he promised during the January presidential election campaign.

Fellow commenters – please keep adding to this list.

If the discussion was around the challenges that people face and finding solutions, I do not see any issue in president’s daughters actions. If she abused the power like the Rajapaksas, that is a different story.

It is not about murdering people like Thajudeen or closing down the busiest roads for car racing etc. etc. This is about solving problems of the people. Lets separate good from bad and encourage good and criticize bad

Just appoint your daughter, Chathurika Sirisena, the Ombudsman. or rather the Ombudswomen for the country.

Tell everybody that Amarasiri recommended that appointment.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ombudsman

    Ombudsman

An ombudsman or public advocate is usually appointed by the government or by parliament, but with a significant degree of independence, who is charged with representing the interests of the public by investigating and addressing complaints of maladministration or a violation of rights. In some countries an Inspector General, Citizen Advocate or other official may have duties similar to those of a national ombudsman, and may also be appointed by a legislature. Below the national level an ombudsman may be appointed by a state, local or municipal government. Unofficial ombudsmen may be appointed by, or even work for, a corporation such as a utility supplier, newspaper, NGO, or professional regulatory body.

The typical duties of an ombudsman are to investigate complaints and attempt to resolve them, usually through recommendations (binding or not) or mediation. Ombudsmen sometimes also aim to identify systematic issues leading to poor service or breaches of people’s rights. At the national level, most ombudsmen have a wide mandate to deal with the entire public sector, and sometimes also elements of the private sector (for example, contracted service providers). In some cases, there is a more restricted mandate, for example with particular sectors of society. More recent developments have included the creation of specialized Children’s Ombudsman and Information Commissioner agencies.

In some jurisdictions an ombudsman charged with handling concerns about national government is more formally referred to as the “Parliamentary Commissioner” (e.g. the United Kingdom Parliamentary Commissioner for Administration, and the Western Australian state Ombudsman). In many countries where the ombudsman’s responsibility includes protecting human rights, the ombudsman is recognized as the national human rights institution. The post of ombudsman had by the end of the 20th century been instituted by most governments and by some intergovernmental organizations such as the European Union.

To give the devil its due, I feel that she is genuinely worried about the poor disadvantaged sections of society in her father’s electorate and district.
She should go incognito with a few trusted friends, and visit the poorest of the poor villagers first, sit with them in their huts and speak with them, without the presence of any state official – even the grama niladhari should not know.
Then only she will know the actual truth of the peoples’ feelings.
She can carry on from there.

    CT,

Keep the spotlight day and night on all the nook and crannies of our Government. There are many compromises being made, which go against why they were elected. Expediency and opportunity are being enthroned in the name of a National Government. Mediocrity, corruption and criminality have been recognised as virtues. Nepotism is being creeping in, like the Camel that displaced the Arab Bedouin – in this instance Yahapalanaya)- from the tent in the dreary desert. The President himself is calving up the Yahapalanya goose that was supposed to lay golden eggs! Troubling times are ahead.

The Media has got is proprieties mixed up. Thre are so many crooks among the 44 appointed, they should go after them.

One wonders whether the Sri Lanka Media has been bribed by MaRa using his stolen billions?

Through the Grape Vine, Bulath Vine, Vetilla Vine…

Appointment of new ministerial secretaries : Defense secretary post to a most corrupt rogue.

44 secretaries were appointed by the government to the new ministries.Except the secretary to the ministry of urban planning and water supply , all others were appointed. B.M.U.D. Basnayake the defense secretary who was subject to severe criticisms from the very outset has been replaced by Karunasena Hettiarachi. President Maithripala who is also the defense secretary has appointed Hettiarachi who is from Mathripala ‘s native place.

This appointment of Hettiarachi to replace Basnayake is like ridding oneself of a stealing wife and taking a rotting whore in her place. At least ex defense secretary Basnayake who was castigated for his many blunders and malpractices during his tenure of office was a grade one officer of the administrative service , whereas the new defense secretary is just a political hanger on best known for his worst corrupt and perfidious activities. Incidentally Basnayake has not received any appointment in any ministry.

Hettiarachi is a pro Rajapakse lickspittle and during the corrupt Rajapakse regime he made his own huge contributions to the corrupt and illicit activities of the Rajapakse regime. While he was the chairman of the Water supply board he made sure he got the Lion’s share in all the raging corrupt activities and from the projects. Victims of his corrupt activities had complained to Lanka e news at that time how they had to bribe Hettiarachi to get even a small piece of work done officially.

As usual under the rapacious Rajapakse regime then , Hettiarachi incurred the displeasure of the Rajapakses later on for pilfering state revenue and collecting bribes without sharing with the Rajapakses . Consequently , he was expelled from the chairman post.

So, this is the Hettiarachi notorious in more than one way , has now been appointed as the defense secretary ,who led the team of most corrupt racketeers (ace crooks Bashwara Gunaratne, Chandrapala Liyanage , Pradeep Gunawardena, Upali Liyanage now facing corruption charges) who held posts of chairperson and Director in State boards under the Rajapakse regime .

Hettiarachi is an unalloyed bootlicking stooge of the Rajapakses who during the last presidential elections and recent general elections worked for the victory of Mahinda Rajapakse ,showing no concern for Maithripala . Hence the government of good governance giving a defense secretary position to Hettiarachi is tantamount to giving a secure defensive place to a snake under the grass, without realizing , for corrupt crooked Hettiarachi good governance naturally is anathema and his worst enemy.

When the whole country is earnestly anticipating the ‘good governance’ to duly mete out punishment to the culprits , the corrupt , and crooks of the Rajapakse regime who drove the country to the brink of disaster , appointing Hettiarachi a notorious pro Rajapakse scoundrel as defense secretary is to totally annihilate those hopes reposed by the people in ‘good governance.’ By this appointment it has been further confirmed that president Maithripala is always stymied in his efforts to select and appoint the right candidate for official posts under him .

It is a matter for doubt whether Maithripala decided to appoint an individual like Hettiarachi whose notoriety is well and widely known , as defense secretary on the assumption that the people who voted for good governance into power on 17 th of August are since long dead.

Of course , the appointment of ex Customs Director general Jagath Wijeweera who tendered his resignation from his post honorably , as secretary to the ministry of law and public order concerning police affairs has been most welcomed by the public. Wijeweera is a class one officer of the administrative service , and has maintained a clean slate without getting involved in putrid politics and tarnishing his name any day when performing his official duties.
It is noteworthy ,the ministries of defense and of law and public order concerning police affairs are the two main nerve centers of the country and the people. Besides , it is these two ministries that decide whether the people are appreciative or not of a government to which they belong .

The 44 Ministry secretaries ( photograph hereunder) received their appointment letters this afternoon from P.B.Abeykoon , the secretary to the president .
The new Ministry Secretaries are as follows

01 Ministry of Rehabilitation, Resettlement and Hindu Religious Affairs C. -Sivagnanasothi

      Dear Amarasiri,

Over the past few months I have found you a most astute critic of what is wrong with our country. I have checked the facts that you have given about this Mr Karunasena and find, when I google his name, that his career is as you have stated.

However, is there another engineer by the same name? I am by now an elderly man, but I am a novice to politics.

During the campaign for the Presidency that culminated on 8th Jan. 2015, I did what I could to help the Maithri campaign. I have never met Maithri himself, but I did visit his campaign office in Thimbirigasyaya a few times to help in whatever way I could. I never stayed long; contributed what I could, and then disappeared.

Well, the two people whom I met, and whose phone numbers and e-mail addresses I still have, were Palitha Pelpola and Karunasena Hettiarachchi. However, you say that the person currently being discussed “during the last presidential elections and recent general elections worked for the victory of Mahinda Rajapakse”.

Could you please clarify, because you appear to know what you are talking about.

Adding to earlier comment. I telephoned Dr Vickremabahu Karunaratne this afternoon. He was busy, but he is always polite and patient.

I asked him about this engineering pupil of his to whom he sent me. He said that K.H. is Secretary/Defence. I told him about your comment, Amarasiri. No time for detailed discussion, but he said that K.H. had worked very hard with them all for the last ten months. A little while ago (evening) I called the even older Vallipuram Thirunavakarasu, who is more or less Bahu’s No.2, I believe. He doesn’t know K.H. all that well, but his testimony also goes against your observations, Amarasiri. By the way, I’m not a member of Bahu’s party, just respect his honesty. I know some think him mad; I don’t think that there is any intelligent person in Sri Lanka who thinks him bad!

Dear Amarasiri, it may well be that there is an unsavoury side to K.H. Your denunciation is so strident. However, it should be clear to you also that some of the facts at least you have got wrong. My respect for you will increase if you check and let readers know how much you had got wrong.

Right now, I, too, am disappointed with some of the “Ministers”. The Secretaries, I don’t know – except for one man whom I met for five minutes without having known even his name an hour earlier: Secretary/Lands, Dr I.H.K. Mahanama. I think him a wonderful guy. “By their fruits, ye shall know them.”

“Dear Amarasiri, it may well be that there is an unsavoury side to K.H. Your denunciation is so strident. However, it should be clear to you also that some of the facts at least you have got wrong. My respect for you will increase if you check and let readers know how much you had got wrong.”

Through the Grape Vine, Bulath Vine, Vetilla Vine…

These are through the Grape Vine, Bulath Vine, Vetilla Vin. Did some of the Vines get tangled, and got short circuited? Do not know.

It is always better to check it out. The best way is to go to the source or the original reference. So, ask Karunasena Hettiarachi. He will provide data in support of or against the claims by the vines.

The Ancients and the Church claimed that the Sun goes around the Earth. Copernicus, Galileo, Kepler, Newton and Foucault claimed that it was the Earth that went a stationary Sun. Are there phases of Venus? Transit of Venus?

So, ask Karunasena Hettiarachi. He ought to know.

At least we all know Basnayaka was corrupt, and a stooge of MaRa.

          r. Karunaratne summoned by police
Police have summoned the Leader of the Nawa Sama Samaja Party (NSSP), Dr. Vickremabahu Karunaratne, to appear before the police today (11) at 10.00 a.m., in light of the false names and addresses of candidates that had been entered in the nominations list, the number of which had now risen to 16, sources said.

          Dr. Karunaratne summoned by police

          By Ruwan Laknath Jayakody

Police have summoned the Leader of the Nawa Sama Samaja Party (NSSP), Dr. Vickremabahu Karunaratne, to appear before the police today (11) at 10.00 a.m., in light of the false names and addresses of candidates that had been entered in the nominations list, the number of which had now risen to 16, sources said.

Out of the 43 names on the nominations list submitted from the Gampaha District for the Western Provincial Council elections by the NSSP on Thursday (6), 16 have turned out to be false, police said.

Sources also said that information pertaining to 27 names submitted was found to be correct, and these candidates are also residents of the Gampaha District.

While one person, D.N. Jayaneththi is said to have gone overseas on 16 January (Thursday), the addresses submitted by 15 others are false, and to compound the issue, all of them are not residents of the said addresses nor had they ever lived in the area, police sources added.

Meanwhile, the NSSP had stated that the names of Sarath Kumara Rajapakse and Sujatha Ashokamala Peter had been submitted by mistake. Names of candidates from the Retired Teachers’ Association had been submitted through the NSSP’s nomination list to allow a platform to address issues and concerns of retired persons.

Investigations conducted by the police at the request of the Elections Commissioner, Mahinda Deshapriya, and the Assistant Elections Commissioner of the Gampaha District, G.A.N. Senaratne, had led to discovering the fraud that had been perpetrated. Reportedly, birth certificates and national identity cards of migrants had also been used, sources further said.

Anyone found guilty of submitting false information vis-a-vis nomination lists, could face up to two years in remand prison and lose the right to vote or be registered as a voter for seven years, police sources stressed.

Police added: “Along with Dr. Karunaratne, we have also requested the female lawyer and the Justice of the Peace who had attested the sworn affidavits pertaining to the nomination list of the NSSP in the Gampaha District, to appear before the police on Tuesday (11).”

However, responding to the drama that has been unfolding, Dr. Karunaratne said, “The nominations are fine and we are continuing our campaign because the nominations had been accepted and therefore, they cannot and will not be cancelled. There is no issue concerning the 15 candidates. Regarding the criminal offence, our Gampaha District Agent and Leader had given a statement to the police, and investigations are underway. They will take necessary action, thereafter. We are also trying to locate Jayaneththi who is currently absconding. Jayaneththi is the President of the Retired Teachers’ Association and it was he who had submitted these names.”

Commenting on the issue, the Commissioner of Elections, Mahinda Deshapriya said: “The matter is currently under investigation by the police.”

“Dear Amarasiri, it may well be that there is an unsavoury side to K.H. Your denunciation is so strident.”

The issue here is NOT Dr. Vickremabahu Karunaratne. He may have made small errors here and there, but he has worked hard to defeat the Fascist Mahinda Rjapaksa and his cronies. The issue here is K.H, and to what extent is he a MaRa henchman?

          http://www.dailymirror.lk/83313/we-must-defeat-mahinda-s-fascist-politics

          https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vikramabahu_Karunaratne

“The Leader of the New Left Front (NLF) party Dr. Vickremabahu Karunaratne says that the crucial issue that the country needs to handle is defeat the Fascist movement of Mahinda Rajapaksa.”

Remember, K. H, Hettiarachi was in Mahinda’s fold for some time. The question of to what extend he was corrupted by Mahinda and his cronies, is an open question, that can only be answered by K H. or others who were close to him, when he was working for MaRa. A number of MaRa cronies are in the Cabinet or or deputy Ministers.

        Dear “maali karunaratne”,

Let’s hope Amarasiri sees that both of us have made polite requests of him. A few minutes ago I posted more details.

Despite all the communication that becomes possible owing to technological advances, it is still difficult to know what to believe, and what not to. It’s the sheer volume of this plethora of information that is overwhelming!

I think that I’ve given up Facebook for good!

My apologies. Thanks for pointing out. This was in no way made as an insult to women. Different replacements.

This appointment of Hettiarachi to replace Basnayake is like ridding oneself of a petty thief and taking a bank robber in his place who will empty the whole bank.

This appointment of Hettiarachi to replace Basnayake is to go from bad to worse, to progress from a bad situation to one that is worse.

This episode of Sirisena daughter talking to villagers is Much Ado About Nothing! If anything comes about as a consequence it would be for the benefit of those villagers. Most spouses, off spring and siblings of world leaders are involved in such activities for the benefit of their citizens. Colombo Telegraph should take it easy and watch the situation with patients rather than jumping the gun!

There is absolutely no necessity for MS to respond to every news article about his family. I cannot see any high handedness in her actions. She would have got his 100% blessings to join these officers in a fact finding mission. His daughter’s presence would encourage people to come out and air their problems without fear.

When she goes with a host of State officials as the Daughter of the President and the head of the SLFP which is the the most corrupt and nasty political party in the country, She will only get the responses she wants to hear from villages used to playing pooja to politicians who will praise the corrupt politicians and her corrupt father, Sirisena, who has forced Ranil WIckramasinghe to have a cabinet of 90 morons in the Diaywenna Parliament – who the tax payer has to fund.

Shooting the breeze with villages while dressed like a bride and then claiming that you are there to find out their problems shows the level of IGNORANCE ANS STUPIDITY which seems a hall mark of the Sirisena family.
THE ENDS DO NOT JUSTIFY THE MEANS – having 90 corrupt cabinet members in the name of reconciliation while sweeping out all the corruption cases against them is a joke. The proposed new constitution for whihc the cabinet of 90 was formed will be a bigger joke!

        Vedda (gal)

As I once said Vedda, your hatred mentality towards Sinhala Buddhists in this country cannot be cured until you do some meditation and make yourself calm. But that wont happen since your inability to understand your bad mental status. I have never said or never taken any steps to safeguard the bad of MR. But his unblemished effort to brought back one country to all Sri Lankans irrespective of race, religion etc., was applauded. And, as a result of that he had to be at the receiving end of Tamil racists, West and those who are with SL and S/B hatred in their blood. Anyway keep calm. Your model president will make your wish come true earlier than expected.

    YAHAPALANAYA SRI LANKAN STYLE

    1. PRESIDENT IGNORES DAUGHTERS SELF APPOINTED EXECUTIVE ROLE.
    2. MPs/MINISTERS – ON THE ROAD AGAIN WITH MOTORCADES AND SIRENS BLAZING IN A SO CALLED FREE AND DEMOCRATIC COUNTRY, HARASSING THE GENERAL PUBLIC WHO WANTED THESE BRUTES WITH SELF INFLATED EGOS OUT, WHEN THEY VOTED FOR THE YAHAPALANAYA.
    3. ALL CANDIDATES WHO WON THE PEOPLES MANDATE OUT AND ROGUES IN.
    4. PROMOTER OF DEMOCRACY MANGALA SAMARAWEERA BELIEVES HIS POSITION AS A MINISTER GIVES HIM THE RIGHT AND AUTHORITY TO DIRECT THE POLICE TO TAKE ACTION AGAINST A PERSON INVOLVED IN A PRIVATE FRACAS WITH A FOREIGN DIPLOMAT. THIS IS NOT HIS BUSINESS AND HIS INVOLVEMENT WILL ONLY AUTOMATICALLY MAKE ANY INVESTIGATION BIAS AGAINST THE LOCAL PARTY INVOLVED IN THE INCIDENT. THE MATTER SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPORTED (IF WARRANTED) BY THE PARTY/PARTIES THEMSELVES TO THE POLICE. LOOKS LIKE MANGALA, WANTS OTHERS TO CHANGE BUT FOR HIM TO ACT WITH POWERS HE NO LONGER HAS.
    5. MINISTERS EXCHANGE PORTFOLIOS NEXT THEY WILL AUCTION THE PORTFOLIOS ON EBAY.
    6. NIMAL SIRIPALA WHO LOST THE SEAT THREATEN TO LEAVE THE GOVT IF CERTAIN GOVT ORGANIZATIONS ARE PRIVATISED. DID HE LEAVE ACRES OF MILCO LAND AT NARAHENPITA WAS OFFERED TO SOFTLOGIC? IS THE GOVT SO WEAK THAT IT CANNOT REPLACE THE LOSERS WITH SOME NEW BLOOD, ESPECIALLY THOSE WHO WON THE ELECTION.
    7. FORMER DEP JUSTICE MINISTER SERASINGHE WHO ABSCONDED FROMM APPEARING IN COURT GIVEN PORTFOLIO. THOSE PROMISING TO TAKE POISON IF UNP WON GIVEN PORTFOLIOS, THOSE WHO STONED COURTS AND OTHERS WHO SAID THEY WOULD THROW THE COURT ORDER INTO THE DUSTBIN GIVEN PORTFOLIOS.
    8. CASE AGAINST FORMER DEFENSE SECRETARY WITHDRAWN.
    9. KP WHO WAS ARRESTED WITH THE HELP OF INTERPOL AND MALASIAN GOVT FOR HIS INVOLVEMENT WITH THE LTTE, IS SUDDENLY FREE FROM ANY INVOLVEMENT WITH TERRORISM.
    10. VERY SOON, MR AND FAMILY WILL BE FREE FROM CORRUPTION, MURDER CHARGES, ALL OTHER POLITICAL ROGUES WILL BE FREE AND WILL BE BACK IN THE SADDLE WITH THE NEW GOVT AND BACK TO THEIR NOTORIOUS WAYS.
LOOKS LIKE PEOPLE HAVE BEEN FOOLED AGAIN BY MAITHRI AND RANIL.
HOW CAN YAHAPALANAYA BE PROVIDED BY THE HORAPALAKAYO?

What if a surgeons unqualified offspring decides to do surgery and the operating theatre staff assist?

What if a police officer’s unemployed offspring, decides to lead a posse of polimen on a raid?

What if a General’s unemployed offspring decides to lead a platoon on the war front?

What if a Professor’s’s unemployed offspring chooses to lecture instead of him?

If these are not permitted and unacceptable, how could the President’s daughter do what she is doing?

She could of course substitute for her mother as hostess, when the President entertains!

      RN,
You avoided the most appropriate question!
What if a political leader’s unemployed offspring decides to visit his father’s poor constituents to ask what difficulties they face with their day to day life? (Keep in mind there are no special skills/training/educational level etc. needed to speak and ask questions from a bunch of poor villagers)
      How does this be unacceptable?

I will agree with you only if she tried some surgery, arrested some one, lead the SLDF against terrorists, or gave a lecture on general surgery!

        Eusense,

It is unlikely that the President’s daughter is unemployed. A Google search indicated that she is probably involved in the hotel business.

Further, she is welcome to visit the poor, the villagers and the farmers in Polonnaruwa and elsewhere in the country and report their problems to her father. However, she should not be using the state apparatus to do this ( except for the security she is entitled). She should not be also summoning the poor, farmers and the villages to her meetings, but visiting them in their abodes and farms. She should not be also using her status as the President’s daughter to preside over meetings with government officials.

Here is a case of a daughter helping her father and that help comes without any cost to the government coffers.

It is not such a big issue for Colombo Telegraph to puruse this particular incident vigorously compared to Maithri’s appointments of persons with criminal background to Ministerial positions.

JR promised a dharmista rule but became a total dictator. Same is true with this man Maithri. He promised yahapalanaya but all his actions after the August 17th election confirm that he is a worse dictator than JR and Premadasa combined.

Then why have all these ministers of this and secretaries of that ? Kick them all out, and he can hand off all these things to his other relatives without cost to government and all will be happy, no ?

… now where did I hear that before ????

      Naga,

“It is not such a big issue for Colombo Telegraph to puruse this particular incident vigorously compared to Maithri’s appointments of persons with criminal background to Ministerial positions.”

      I agree.

Are we going to see CT investigating the ministers and MPs who have problems with the law?

Has CT maybe chosen an easy target?

Why does the CID only or mostly “leak” information on cases that have nothing to do with the ministers and MPs supporting the new government?
