Tamils from US and Canada are due to gather before the UN headquarters in New York on Wednesday (24) afternoon, in protest of President Rajapaksa‘s visit to New York and his address before the UN General Assembly.

The rally is due to be held from 1 – 5 pm outside the UN office and it is held in order to urge the UN officials including UN General Secretary Ban Ki-Moon and the UNGA President to:
– Condemn Sri Lanka’s denial of visa to the OHCHR panel appointed to probe in war crimes allegations in Sri Lanka
– Ensure the protection of witnesses and urge the Sri Lankan President to refrain from harming Tamils who testify before the UN body
– Warn the Sri Lankan President of the cosequences for intimidating and persecuting potential witnesses of the OHCHR probe, as Government Ministers have already threatened with legal action against those testifying before the UN inquiry
– Urge all present before the assembly to refrain from allowing President Rajapaksa from using his appearance before the UN to sanitize his international crimes
“President Rajapaksa is not just a war criminal but a perpetrator of genocide,” the TGTE has further stated in the media release circulated on the rally that is to be held on Wednesday.
President Rajapaksa left for New York today to address the UNGA on September 24.

This hora uguduwa MR has ruined our nation. We have no place as srilankens on International STAGE today. Today, the crime rate is on a rise in the country as no other times in the past. No other leaders abused laws to the manner Rajapapskshes have been upto. On day light they murder and be away from being caught by laws. No laws no courts. All are on their hands. They hire planes to their entourages while sending poor man even more poor. Studies point it clear over 60% of the folks living in the island are under poverty though their propaganda statistics say something palatable to the world in order to cheat IMF and any other bodies. All these calculations are being made wihtout giving any transparecy or accountabalitiy. Almost everyone in academia are fed up on the way they abuse education and higher education in the country today. As no other govt, the current has failed to hold school examination without being abused. Students have no hostels, but they they abuse funds for road making – all because of the pportions that Rajapakse goons get as commisions should be safeguarded in order to MR system to continue. Else, Maharaja has to face charges from his high criminals surrouneded – now to this date, I believe, the bunch did steal the funds the IC donated for tsunami victims. These funds and KPs funds are sealed no nothing is like records are there so that people could feel this man has done a good job. War winning was a good thing but since then, he has looted the nation, sold out the nation as nothing worst can be.

Amarasiri, much as I share your sentiments I think washing our dirty linen in the international arena is not a good idea as it will harm our tourist trade in which a whole lot of our brothers and sisters depend in Sri Lanka. Why only Tamils.
I think the Muslims and even the real patriotic Sinhalese also should join in for the scant regard MARA gives to all democratic norms of Sri Lanka.
Let me say why,
1. For letting lose BBS Dogs on Muslims.

3. Conducting Elections under Threat, Intimidation & Bribes.
4. Appointing Judges to Appeal/Supreme Court, persons of tainted and tarnished records who will toe the line of MARA & Co.

He is so drunk with power together with his no bars hold brother GOTA, he will go to any extend to hold onto power. Just look at the aftermath of UVA election. There is so much violence as we speak, which is only a tip of the iceberg. I bet you MARA will unleash hell on all people, regardless of religion if he is threatened with loss of power.
That is why, I am saying all people should join in to show the world that, he is telling a pack of lies, when he says the masses are behind him. You know that, this cannot be done in our soil due to the almost military rule in our country.Just recall Weliweriya, I am sure you will agree with me.

The recent elections have shown that MR & company may be soon out of the scene. After all Sri Lankans appear to see what is happening.
In fact people should not join this protest for the reason that it is organized and carried out by anti Sri Lankan terrorist groups carrying Parayabakaran pictures and Elam flags. With ISIS terror looming around the world and Obama talking at the UN against this group, why should anybody in their right mind support another terror group? Additionally, what effects have these protests have on the Tamil people or the SL gov.? What positive outcomes have they seen so far? At the mean time the general public of these countries is getting tired of inconveniences caused by these protesters. I hope you remember how the Canadian citizens reacted to those protests in Canada. The only benefactors are those foreign politicians and NGOs who receive money for some lip service.

The anti-LTTE propaganda comments appearing here were expected. Those are written for the money received. Entire Lanka runs on commission and bribe. But, honest and Genuine Sinhalese too appears to be concerned too. UN does not make or convert its conventions like EP constitution or 18th amendments. UN is never going to become like Royal Government and going send “white planes” to fetch innocent peoples. “UN resolution is against Lanka” is propaganda. That is absolutely meaningless. Though many educated Sinhalese Lankans understand that, they purposely waiting and watching without opposing it, like they watched the disenfranchisement of Tamils, watched dishonestly tearing off the pacts made with Tamils, Watched or supported the pogroms and the killing of Mullivaikal Tamils with the name of liberating them. They need to understand their behavior is not enough to convince Tamils to stop what they are doing. Or even proposing a common candidate is not going to do any good. Going down in front of the Sinhalese and convincing them to abandon anti-Tamils propaganda as the election slogan and allow the qualifications to become the decision making basis, will only do.
2012 January, when Blake visited to Lanka to negotiate for the resolution, he promised to keep it in line with the 2009 May one and asked a favor from Royal government. What is that was, Lanka has to follow the resolution this time, rather than fool the world, like after they did it in the 2009. I do not know what was exactly agreed and if they did agreed on a piece of paper or only with word of mouth. But, it was sure that the government had agreed with America. When the meeting started in Geneva, America sent an E-Mail to the voting countries that a benevolent resolution in favor of Lanka will be proposed and Lanka will follows it. Like a prostitute who sleep in the room, and when see him on the road, fight with the same man, Lanka which said yes to Blake in Lanka, started to fight with American reps. in Geneva. America noticed no soft resolution will make the King bend. But India did not co-operate. So it has been growing like the current resolution, little by little.
There are no disadvantages to Lanka on the investigation. But there are some advantages to TGTE. When the Nazi was investigated, it did not hurt Germany. To clear LTTE’s name, to incriminate the Royal family, the investigation has to be at its prime status. For that, witnesses are the important part. Unless UN come forward and issue guarantees that the witness are going to be protected, That was main call PM made on his speech, which has been published in all Tamils media in full text. He thinks, if it is not there Tamils are not going to come forward. While threatening the Tamils against witnessing, Royal Government has prepared a large army to protect it at the OHCHR. (Royal Government is fooling the Mahavamsa Modayas that it is boycotting the inquiry. That is not true. Royal Government is in full swing in staging witnesses to OHCHR) But that propaganda witnessing will not take any shape against individual cased that are going to be presented by Tamils at UN. Even the witness’s name or address not knowing, Royal Government is teaming up large crowd to confuse the investigation. That is enough to Mohan Pieris court, but not for anywhere else.
PM’s speech will not make any change on the verdict of the inquiry. But the witness’s statements will. As a practicing lawyer, he knows that. That is why he demanded the protection for the witnesses in front of the UN’s Head office. This is nothing new. But if a lawyer not asks for a facility for his client badly needs, the court is not going to provide it. Again as a lawyer, he asked for it. That is all what happened there. There is nothing against the Sinhalese race.
But this is a scary situation for the Royals. Not just the Royal, even Sinhala Media world try to portray it as anti-Lanka activity by Tamils. In the past, PM tried to sue the Royal in New York. American State Department advised the court that the Royals has diplomatic immunity. So, now everybody is concentrating on UNHRC’s inquiry. That has the ability to go above the diplomatic immunities and recommend some actions to the Security Council. At the same time, Lankan Royal comedians asked America to deport PM. America refused based on PM’s records. That is a real loss for Royals. That is, Royal could not touch PM, but Royals are still open to PM and Tamils, as soon as the diplomatic immunity passes away. On that day, based on the “foreign dictator’s laws” in America, Tamils will have chance of the Royal to be extradited to America and make them face the cases.
Tamils are asking for the basic freedom that is to determine their fate themselves. There is nothing against the Sinhalese as a race. Tamils are not asking for Pakistan to fight with India. They asking for a Singapore, to develop them and set an example to Malaysia. There is a high chance when Tamil Eelam goes alone, Lanka to wake up like Malaysia. On the same token, there is a small chance, that Lanka become Rangoon or Pakistan and hurt it permanently. But it is unlikely. When the doping element of the one that bring the rowdies to the power is gone, when the effect of Mahavamsa “Apin” is gone, Lanka too would return to normalcy.
The inquiry has nothing to do with Sinhalese as a race. It is about the Royal. Just in the same way Lankan political parties giving false promises like the “Rice from the Moon” and winning elections, the Royal have convinced the Sinhalese that this is an insult to their pride. That is how they want to hang on to the power. They want to make sure, if they lose the power to UNP, with the support of Sinhalese, the UNP wouldn’t to hand them over to UN. But the truth is UNP has to hand over them to them to UN. So there is no point in people sympathizing for the Royals.
