Resign Now, UNP Tells Police Spokesman

The main opposition United National Party has called for the resignation of the Police Spokesman, after he made several inappropriate remarks about the selection of the party’s election candidates, one of whom was arrested on charges of robbery recently.

In a statement issued today the UNP said SSP Ajith Rohana‘s comments about the party’s candidates indicated that he was playing politics in the guise of official duty.

The UNP said Rohana’s conduct was inappropriate and a violation of the code governing the conduct of government servants.

“SSP Rohana appears to have forgotten that he is the Police Spokesman and not the spokesman for the Sri Lanka Freedom Party,” the UNP charged in a statement after the official criticised the party’s choice of candidates following the arrest of UNP candidate for the Western PC polls was arrested on suspicion of being involved in a major theft.

The UNP has reiterated the need to act impartially in Royce Fernando’s case and not attempt to seek political mileage through the process, the party said.

“However the Police Spokesman is now attempting to give the Government and the UPFA an advantage by making statements about the issue,” the statement said.

The statement said that the Police Spokesman’s remarks cast serious doubts and suspicions about the way in which the legal proceedings into Fernando’s case would be conducted.

It said Rohana had no moral, ethical or legal standing to remain in the position of Police Spokesman any further.

I thought at least this man could be exemplary to lankan police.
Having listened to the manner the spokesman reacted in Mel’s murder lately.
But now it is becoming clear to the nation his true colours.

      True colours?

What are the primary colours used make khaki? May be that the purple colour of Mulberry juice, which was originally used to dye the uniforms local military men in India, is fading and blue (purple=red+blue)is emerging.

I would have said the same thing about the thug politician. It is just common sense in any law abiding person’s viewpoint. UNPers trying to camouflage their true color.

This Ajith Rohana bloke is a disgrace for the entire police force , often he forgets that he represents SL police , his title must be replaced with the official government spokesperson instead of just police spokesperson.

Police spokesmen admitted that Royce was found not guilty in the court cases filed against him earlier. So now instead of his giving the verdict, let the court handle this case also,

A Police officer turned lawyer has now turned spin
doctor. He is not doing any service to the IGP (who
appointed him), to the Police Force or to himself.

Little wonder the Police Department has fallen into
such low depths. When a crime occurs, he know better
than the investigators how it has happened.

The only crooks in this country, according to this
dirty cop Ajith Rohana, are those not supporting the
Government. He only defends those who are supporting
and they can do no wrong. He will disgrace the Department
even further. Isn’t he ashamed to wear a uniform?

    How damn right Dowbiggin.

The Police Spokesperson expresses the official views of
the Police Department and the Inspector General of Police.
    Today, it is N.K. Ilangakoon.

Has Ilangakook told this word twister to support the ruling
party? If that is so, then the present IGP, who some claimed
was impartial, has begun to play politics perhaps for an
extension. If that is not the position, he should ask Ajith
Rohana to go to the field and learn the role of the police.

The Department is now full of shameless buffoons.
