The SLFP Disciplinary Committee has been tasked with submitting a report to the party’s Central Committee on the recent conduct of several SLFP members who defied party orders and took part in the anti-Government Pada Yatra and also allegedly hooted at the party headquarters in Colombo during the Colombo leg of the protest march.
During a meeting convened last evening chaired by President by President Maithripala Sirisena, the Central Committee had decided to await the report from the Disciplinary Committee after which the fate of the joint opposition MPs who hold membership in the SLFP will be decided.
During last evening’s meeting it was also decided to cancel the party membership of Puttalam District MP Sanath Nishantha, after he openly criticized Sirisena’s leadership in a television programme. It was also decided to take action against several local government members after they tore up letters issued by the party which called for nominations for the next election. The party has decided to bar these members from contesting any future local government elections under the SLFP.

When witnessing the manner in which cases are filed ; the manner in which times are allocated for cases ; the individuals on the court premises who are linked to those cases , and are proudly claiming ‘our government has come’ when cases are being postponed twice or thrice , we are led to believe that a nonsensical legal melodrama is being enacted.’
This drama somewhat is on the face of it produced and staged ,propped and prodded by the power of wealth , because no one has been sentenced so far despite charges of corruption and frauds being mounted and cases filed against the culprits even after the government has been in existence for nearly two years.

Disciplinary action should be taken against Judas Sirisena for betraying SLFP by going against the party candidate. Choura Regina also face disciplinary action on same grounds. These two have no right to talk about discipline of genuine SLFP members. 5.8 million people supported SLFP candidate. They are the genuine SLFP members. When the right time come, these people will take disciplinary action against those who betrayed the party. Judas said he will form a ‘Jathika Aanduwa’ in which Ranil be the PM but 5.8 million voters rejected that. If Judas think that SLFP members are behind him simply because he is the Chairperson, he is sadly mistaken. Only a very small number of Tamil and Muslim voters voted to MR. UNP guys did not vote to MR. So we can safely assume that 99% out of that 5.8 are SLFP members.

The civil Society in Srilanka has acted and indtituionalized a regime change, now it is waiting until next electon to see who is coming with the best promises. I believe, it has very little to do with a function ing democracy, we should check and contol the executive… we can put them under pressure to deliver their promised duties and make them answerable. All these are practised by Buddhists in the name of Lord Buddha IN SL , by those Few who preach, the lawmakers , the educationists , the list is far too long.

If the Sinhalese want to safeguard Buddhism the sensible way is, not to associate their name with it. It is similar to when a child acts bad we blame the parents. Similarly Buddhism gets a bad name the way its followers act even if it is just a minority and the Majority who wouldn’t intervene.
Take for instance
“Islam is a Religion of peace is the claim” but by the terror carried out in the name of ‘Allah’ by significant few raises all doubt about the validity. And for the above and remaining religions we still have the Apologists who will incite violence just in the name of preserving it and the fanatics who will kill themselves execute it.
But when it comes to Political Parties it is just a handful of members who stand for party principles, the majority are, a den of crooks whose motto is ‘you scratch my back and I will yours ‘ and ‘make hay while you can’
the same last line applies to how majority of people in SL and other parts interpret survival.
