Sri Lanka: A Country Ruled As A Family Business By Four Brothers

By  –

Sri Lanka is a country ruled by four brothers who have turned their country’s government into a family business. At the apex sits President Mahinda Rajapaksa, who won office in 2005 and was re-elected in 2010 after victory in the civil war.

Just access the Colombo airport website and notice the increase in air traffic. So, nevermind what you say, number of tourists will exceed 1.2 million this year. And that’s a 20% increase over the last year.

Already most hotels are refurbished and new hotels with more than 50,000 new rooms have been added.

50,000 rooms ??? Patriot alias Banda – are you serious ?

They are expecting to have only 6000 new hotel rooms. That too, according to a senior hotelier will not happen in his life time.

Tourist and Airline industry was run earlier by Highly qualified professionals doing very well.

After taken over the Tourist Industry by Rajapakse Family Business Company now it both Tourist industry and the Airline Business have gone to dogs.

While putting out bogus figures every month Rajapakse Comedians think of hoodwinking the people to make them happy.

If anybody could show where in 2012 the One Million tourists came and stayed will be helpful.

This is how the Gan Kabarayas Commission Kakkas ruin both Tourist and Travel Industry in Sri Lanka.

Grade 10 exam failed Rajapakse FRamily goon ex planter now the Chairman Sri Lankan and Mihin Air have bankrupted both of them to the tune of 60 Billion Rupees of Losses.

You’re a desperate man alright. How come Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) announced yesterday 24/10/13 that it will increase its Abu Dhabi-Colombo service from seven flights per week to a double daily schedule from February 16, 2014. Do you think UAE would increase its flights to run empty planes. Don’t be childish.

Etihad operates an A320 aircraft fitted with 16 Pearl Business Class seats and 120 Coral Economy Class seats. On that count, the new service will add incoming passenger traffic to over 1,900 seats per week on the Abu Dhabi-Colombo route alone. If only 75% were tourist still they’ll be over 1400. Meaning 72,000 per year. Do your calculations and work out the arrivals.

According to Banda Sri Lanka has built 120 to 130 hotel room capacity to the equivalent size of Hilton to add 50000 more rooms so far.By my calculation at this rate within few years Sri Lankan hotel room capacity will be in the vicinity of half million rooms or IE 1500 hotels.I expect 500 them to be in Hambantota Worlds most vibrant MEGA city.

General Fonseka should lead a joint opposition people’s PROTEST rally against the CORRUPT Rajapakse Brothers dictatorship at the CHOGM venue in November.
Colombo residents need to speak in one voice and show that they are AGAINST CORRUPTION and more interested in CLEAN, TRANSPARENT and ACCOUNTABLE institutions than in “beautification” of the town.
We are not impressed at painted facades and paved roads for the Rajapassa sons Lamburghini car races! Come November Lankan citizens MUST MARCH against the Rajapassa regime. We need to have a GIGANTIC PEOPLE’S POWER PROTEST RALLY in Colombo on the first day or CHOGM to tell the world the TRUTH about Mahinda Rajapakse and his CORRUPT and CRIMINAL family dictatorship – what a corrupt and criminal regime is hosting the CHOGM circus in November..

I suggest Gen.Fonseka, and the opposition parties and to all human rights associations and to all patriots to Print Hand outs, bills, booklets, brochures and magazines on Rajapakse Corruptions, human right violations and their Dictatorial governance and distribute them among CHOGM Heads of state, to the International media, foreign delegates, and among local population.

CHOGM is the best opportunity to spread Rajapakse corruptions to the world.

      I am Sri Lankan,

      Mahinda Rajapaksa and Family Company?

Before that, there was the Dutch East India Company. It was followed by the British East India Company.

How does this “Commission” or “Family Tax”, or “Tariff” compare with other taxes levied by Saudi Arabia and other dictatorships. This needs to be added to the cost of goods sold or services provided.

Democratic States levy taxes to the Public Treasury.

Dictatorships and Family Dictatorships levy “taxes” for the Family Treasury.

      I am Sri Lankan,

What we have is a Situation where the Politicians are using religion and Ethnicity to their own advantage, here family Hegemony, and throwing some bones and some other goodies at those who will go along with them. This is standard practice all over the world.

By taking religion out of the equation, half the battle is won. That is why separation of Church, Temple and Mosque is needed.

      Until then, DeJa Vu…

      http://ffrf.org/

The nonprofit Freedom From Religion Foundation works to educate the public on matters relating to nontheism, and to promote the constitutional principle of separation between church and state. The Foundation is the nation’s largest association of freethinkers (atheists, agnostics and skeptics) with over 19,000 members.

Since 1978, the Foundation has acted on countless violations of the separation of state and church, and has taken and won many significant complaints and important lawsuits to end state/church entanglements.

Won’t you join us in our critical work to defend the separation between government and religion?

Sri Lanka was made poor and corrupted by these super duper monks who embraces Buddhism and took over politics to their advantage and for self sufficiency.

Sri Lanka surely going to dogs heading for bankruptcy.

There are too many poor people in Srilanka who cant een afford a meal, so what Rajapassa does is give these poor buggers a rice parcel and Rs.200 for their vote. Its a tactic which these Rajapassa use to gain votes. Most of the Srilankans are uneducated to vote for this Bastard Mahinda Jarawapaksa.

Spring koha,You say “Sinhala Buddhists see MR as their best option (even today)”.

Then the tamil component of hardliners are now achieving what they wanted, which sinhala bhuddhists ruining their own country, isn’t it?At one time the tamil hindus paid the penalty for supporting prabhaharan though he was ruining the tamil community. Now it seems to be the turn of the sinhala bhuddhists to ruin their community.

I think this goes to show that sinhalese and tamils are originally the same people because they are both modayas. The intelligent minority among them were identified by the colonial powers and groomed by them for administration and they were the ones who became christians and catholics. After the 1965 botched coup this bunch who would have taken srilanka to great heights like singapore were purged completely by the sirimavo sinhala bhuddhist modayas and we are now in the present predicament.

          • 0
            0

and spring koha,if as you say the answer to why sinhalese are voting to have cancer is because of the war victory and the fact that they think MR is the best to safeguard their interests,The what about Fonseka. Why not vote for him?He is the war hero who contributed the most to the war victory. In fact in 2006 he and gota were the ones who were pushing mahinda to go for a full offensive to defeat the LTTE and Fonseka over and over again was saying that the LTTE could be defeated while mahinda was skeptical.

Besides Fonseka has said he will eradicate corruption and change the political culture in the country.he seems to have a track record of a man who does what he says however difficult it will be.He brought discipline in the army with more than 5000 court martials without worrying about his personal popularity.

Surely you don’t think a man like that will let down the sinhala bhuddhists. In fact i think the bhuddhists are in safer hands with him, because mahinda will get rid of any hot potato when it gets too hot whereas Fonseka will choose to drown with the bhuddhists like parbha with the hindus.Remember fonseka saying that minorities can continue to be in this country as well behaved guests? He is a bigger sinhala supremacist than mahinda.

Shankar, if the Elections in the South is held with Observers as done in the North, then you will see how popular they are. You saw what happened to the War Hero SF? So why blame RW as at the moment everything the UNP wanted, beautifying the city at the cost to the poor, removing the poor shanties by the thousands overnight. Establishing Private Universities and shutting the out dated Free Education that produced a mediocrity not only adding to unemployment, but being unemployable. Expanding the Tourist Trade with the expansion of the Casinos. Get Devolution granted to the North. Once all this is done by MR, the devil himself, then the International body will involve to hold a Free and Fair Election and MR will be History. This I believe is what is on the cards consequent to the CHOGM.

Adey Bando the Beach Boy, why? is business bad these days without tourists? Do not worry once James Packer gets the Casinos going you will have enough business, so good that till you will find difficult to walk properly. So brace till then your pockets will be full.

Nowadays many geezers like you copy US agent Pillay’s mantra, “holding elections does not mean the country’s leader is a Democrat” as a reason to call MR a dictator.

If “holding elections does not mean the country’s leadership is a Democrat” pray tell us, what is ‘democracy’? Tell us whether so-called ‘democracy’ mean going against the winning manifesto? Or is ‘democracy’ mean implement the policies of the opposition that is rejected by majority voters? Or, is it to accept TNA policies of dividing Sri Lanka that were vehemently opposed by the majority voters?

The fact that none call Sri Lanka a failed state no longer is enough evidence prove MR’s success.

      • 0

What you are describing is Majoritarian democrasy ( 2 wolves and a sheep deciding on what’s for lunch ) which is NOT what Western or local democrasy activists mean when they speak of Democrasy.

When the West / local democrasy activists speak of democrasy they mean a representative democrasy where the rights of the minority will not be trampled on by the majority and where fundemental human rights and liberties are guaranteed and will not be infringed upon by the State.

Mohammed Mursi in Egypt tried to use democrasy to impose an Islamist theocratic dictatorship.

You clearly either don’t understand the concept of democrasy as espoused in the global sphere or deliberately choose to ignore it in favour of a specious argument.

The regime may have not bargained for this type of media focus and exposure due to CHOGM. Now that Sri Lanka is in the spotlight there is little the regime can do to prevent the media and international community from highlighting the problems and issues.

Being chairman of this international organisation will require the president and regime to maintain a spotless record for the next two years or face the censure of member nations and the international community.

Home grown democracy, has leaped back to the days of the Kings!
The glorious days of yore are indeed back! We can now proudly proclaim that we have erased all vestiges of colonialism, except Western attire cum western life styles and beaten back neocolonialism as no other nation has done before. Principles and rules of good governance indeed were the unsavoury baggage that colonialism and neocolonialism had burdened our nation with. They are indeed in the garbage can now, as deserved.

What we need now is a Mahadanamutta and his disciples(Golayas) to guide this King and the Kings/Queens to come. We probably have them already!

I am also reminded of the story of Ali Baba and forty thieves by the insight provided by some comments.

Well done Sri Lanka! We are the greatest!

You only support this dictatorship because it is a Sinhala Buddhist Nationalist dictatorship. You wouldn’t be supporting it if it were a dictatorship by a different ethnic group, so what you really mean to say is that you would rather have a dictatorship soo as long as it is by your kind.

I do not like the direction the political system is drifting, while I continue to appreciate the transformation of the infrastructure in the country. The country is adrift , as the necessary moorings are being deliberately destroyed on by one. National values that reflect our culture are being trampled as never before. It will be impossible to regain these again. We are increasingly being encouraged to become schizophrenics, hypocrites and criminals by the example the political system is setting.

        Dr.RN

          Palm Squirrel and Dr Rajasingham,

I agree there are democracies in the world. But these developed and espoused democracy for hundreds of years. For such countries democracy is good. But Sri Lankans have made a mockery of democracy.

We will be better off with a system similar to what is happening now. True, Hon MR is surrounded by his brothers kith and kin placed in high positions. This is needed to counter the traditional Sri Lankan habit of undercutting and back stabbing. The latter is the real National value systems and culture that are trampled Dr RN. Such value systems must be trampled. In societies where trustworthiness and honesty is at a premium, nepotism is a necessary evil.

You Palm Squirrel and Dr RN know from living overseas, that there are systems of democratically elected governments delivering the goods to the people. And your value systems are fashioned on such experiences. But the ground rules in Sri Lanka from the times of the Kings, the Radala ruling classes, and countless governments since independence in SL is different and will remain so for a long long time to come.

          • 0
            0

There are many countries who became democrasies in the last few decades.

Sri Lanka has had enough decades to be a democrasy. If South Africa became democratic only as recently as the early 90s, what is Sri Lanka’s excuse. Ex-Soviet block nations adopted democrasy after Sri Lanka so again SL has no excuse.

With Rajapaksa regime, they steal private and public resources to enrich themselves, the average person can not compete and hope to develop SL when he/she has to go through corrupt politicians and Rajapaksa regime.

If there is no rule of law and a just legal system, people are discouraged from investing and bettering the nation; with Rajapaksa at the helm there is no chance to build a more equitable SL.

SL will never amount to much if we are to accept dictatorship as

              Palm Squirrel,

You do make a valid point about recent democracies that seem to work, eg South Africa, some soviet bloc countries etc. (I hope you are not talking about Kazakhstan).

Singapore was for decades somewhat of a dictatorship during Lee Quan Yu’s time. And see where they are now. Sri Lanka also can gain from a no nonsense type of governance such as that.

What I keep harping on and no one seems to get the point is that democracy has failed time and again in Sri Lanka. It has failed miserably. We have led the country to utter devastation as a result. Why insist on a system that keeps dragging us further into the mire.

We are utterly polarized into one camp or another and cannot forge a single Sri Lankan identity. That is why we at BBS say, if you want to follow the Tamil Nadu identity, go to Tamil Nadu. If you want to adopt Saudi Identity then go there. You may say we are racists and crude in our approach in forging a single identity, well you are welcome to that opinion.

            BBS rep,

I do not believe the ‘ End justifies the means’ . Good governance, rule of law , exemplary behaviour cum discipline in the political system and respect for our traditional religious values will lay the road for real and lasting progress in the country than the type of dictatorship you are advocating. Dictatorships never carry the people with them. What is forced cannot be sustained.

We do not need the rajakaria system of the Kings to be replicated in the form of brobery, corruption and commisions. We do not need heriditory and nepotistic rule. The constitution of a country should establish a framework for values in governance. These will minimize the treachery and undercutting you refer to. Sadly, treachery, undercutting ,sycophancy and criminality are being promoted as political strategies by this government as never before. Is this what you want in the name of material progress. Should we sacrifice the lofty value system we have evolved over the millennia to be sacrificed at the alter of political expediency and short term gain?

We are becoming like an apple that is shining on the surface, but is rotten at the core. Most are seeing the shine now and are failing to recognise that the rot that started long before the present government, is accelarating under the present one.

My reference to Ali Baba and the forty thieves in the preceding comment, was to point out that the wrong done by the forty thieves ultimately benefitted only Ali Baba. Our Ali Baba is yet on the way!

              Dr RN,

Most of what you say is true. But that is only true in an imaginary sense. We can all proselytise what is best for humanity and what is best for Sri Lanka. We can also prescribe democracy as it is known in other parts of the world as the panacea to all political and social ills in Sri Lanka. But what happens in reality and continues to happen is exactly the opposite. If the path of democracy to the top is unsuited to the Sri Lankan psyche we need to find another way. Even if the other path chosen is not the best, full of corrupt practices, at least it may get Sri Lanka to the top at the end.
Economic progress is essential Dr RN for Sri Lanka especially, at any cost. Yes, at any cost. You only have to venture on foot into some villages and slums in Sri Lanka to see the utter privation the majority of Sri Lankans have been living in. Only economic progress will ensure the leaching of some of the benefits, to the poorest of the poor that most in the top echelons in the city take for granted.

              BBS rep,

I would not want to be on the type of top you refer, using the means that you seem to accept as inevitable.
Yes, épée have to develop and we have to get the poor and the wretched to higher ground. But. This should not be done by destroying our humanity, especially in a country that cables itself Buddhist. The government conducts Poojas seeking blessings for the success of the Commonwealth conference.

Create a special fund to help the deserving and appeal for contributions. Create the environmemt for investments to be made in productive development over the whole Island. Corruption, political interference, stupid policies, poor governance, scant respect for the rule of law and a bureaucratic maze are strangling economic development. If development and employment generation are facilitated, the poor and the downtrodden will climb out of the chasm they have been pushed into.

The type of development the government is spearheading will make the rich, filthy rich, the poor filthy poor and the middle class poor, while pretending to be otherwise. This is already visible , for those who dare or care to see.

              Dr. Rajasingham Narendran.

” The present data and analysis provides some clear guidance for those who take the long view: the Singapore story of growing the economy without expanding democracy is a uniquely rare phenomenon- that means, those who try to replicate it are highly unlikely to succeed. Ensuring the rule of law, building societal consensus and improving international cooperation are three key areas in which Sri Lanka has been falling behind even Singapore, and would do well to improve.”(http://island.lk/index.php?page_cat=article-details&page=article-… ) Date: 22nd Oct,2013.

            BBS Rep.
You are making a very valid point. I appreciate that.

Quote: “But the ground rules in Sri Lanka from the times of the Kings, the Radala ruling classes, and countless governments since independence in SL is different and will remain so for a long long time to come.”

If you suppose in such destiny of this country, then please do not lecture the world (in UN, CHOGM, IMF, WB, EU, ANC, and SAARC), that Sri Lanka has 2500 years of experience in democracy, human rights values, good governance, great defense forces, 1st class family values, the best religion, Asia’s Knowledge Hub, etc. All these are bull crabs.

Rather you should say “we are country still greatly maintain and will continue for another generation with egotism, totalitarianism, nepotism, cronyism, barbarism, favoritism, discrimination, bad governance, foolishness, recklessness, corruption, and stupidity. I think this will perfectly fit to your humble association with BBS and Sri Lanka

              Citizen,

You also make a valid point.

However I do not agree with the last sentence. BBS is trying to do something. We may be labelled racists, chouvenists etc but at least we are trying to do something where everything else has failed and keeps failing. In our own way, even if it seems crude, we are trying to help change society for a better outcome in the future.

Well you are trying to ethnically cleanse Sri lanka; so when you say you are trying to help change society for a better outcome, the outcome you want is a Sinhala only Sri Lanka. So I don’t see how you can claim you are trying to help society since SL society is made up non Sinhalese also.

Very same people said nothing when Duminda was freed from his murderous case in which he was reported to be the key accused.

Very same people do nothing when Rathupaswala people are gunned down when going on peace protest asking for clean water.

Very same people say nothing own civil tamil folks are murdered by MR regime in the war end phases.

Very same people have done nothing when criminal minded pradesheeya saba candidates got elected by their votes.

Today across the country – PRADESHEEYA SABA CANDIDATES are the most criminals that run all illegal fradulent business ranging land grabs to contract killings.

(British murder – Pradeesheya saba candidate; Deraniyagala murder – Pradesheeya saba candidate; Ratnapura Culvert/mining projects – Pradesheeya saba candidate; Hikkduwa Land grabs – Pradeesheya saba candidate etc)

Most of the idiots posting and commenting here have not been to the country and are speaking out of their backsides or have the diaspora agenda . I am back in SL after 8 years it the difference is like night and day . The road system in almost every where is immaculate probably better than what I have seen in the UK . and the country is clean . and by the way there are hardly any beggars . Hambantota is amazing and it almost has a road network to rival Singapore . wait and see . in the few years it will surely rival Singapore . From what I can see most of the country is hopeful and expect good things . When I cam here last in 2005 it was barely hanging on . it is no longer like that . for all the Chinese labor who is supposedly working in Hambantota I did not see any but I saw a whole bunch of Indian and Chinese tourists .

Have you given a thought to ‘What happened to all the beggars’? Were they White Vanned or languishing in Prisons? Surely they would not have been given Board and Lodging in some ‘Home for Destitutes’?
And as the Locals I have spoken to, say, “We have the Roads, but can’t afford the Petrol to travel on them! Only Tourists with Dollars, and Politicians can afford the rising costs of fuel”!

Gon wasso, I also paid a visit to lanka last december. I did not become as you have been. I just thought this is the reality for all alike developing countries today. I know Ethiopians living in Europe, but they say their countries are on a right way today than had been decades ago. Just looking at the road constructions or other kind of bla bla projects, in the same time forgetting how many of the average man have to struggle for their 3 meals – it is not right to say, that Rajapakshes have done a lot. ACTUALLY they hav edone a lot to their pheripheral circles rather than to own nation. Rajapakshes allow lambogini sending own folks continous badagini.. that is the reality of them. One thing should be clear to many is – they are not at all capable of leading the country to sustainable development – today, crimes rates are rapidly on a rise. Youth have no respect how can they while looking at the ruling politicians and their offsprings^s misbehaviours. Decades ago, people respected each other, today, thanks to MERVIN and Rajaspksehs, not even Buddhist monks are being respected by buddhists. So long the current govt openly support religious violent groups like BBS, HU etc.. it can become worst only. This you, your relatives, friends, families all experience day to another.
If you SURVEY all these through european kind of an opinion poll you would surely get back to your conscience. Good luck.

I just came back from years living in SL, so am wuite familiar with the country as it is now.

Outward appearances are deceiving. Inflation is causing suffering to the masses who can barely get by. Meanwhile Rajapaksa and Co. waste public resources on White elephants like Rajapaksa Airport and Hambantota port.

Rajapaksa are all about flashy and glamour projects but ignore the plight of the poor. Money spent on Rajapaksa Theatre, Hambantora Port and Rajapaksa Airport could have been spent on irrigation, plumbing , renewable resources and medical help for the working class.

Did you speak to common man during your trip ? So why dont you idiot listen to Radio senders or other channels where you can get balanced views. What is your opinion about land grabs by the ruling thugs these days ? How many among the decent people are suffering today ? Why do the rulers make price hikes in essential dailyneeds today in the country where no civil war is there. Do you the idiot feel that is just because of so called development projects ? All these road construction started not after 2005 but already before 2005. What happened to the collosal sums of funds that Rajapakshes embaszeled ? Why you the like idiots seem to be blind about all these `?

It is just because people^s representatives like you are beyond being stupid. I have no idea why you guys behave in this manner. You guys have no brains to grasp it as of now. It will take some more time you stupid dimwits to get it. Alone how the stupid masses voted for Dayasiri is not comprehensible to us being out of the country, because those were tactics of power greedy Raja. Very same people to vote for candidates that cross over their parties are not clear to many, but you guys. Latter alone prove – how intelligent those majority folks (voters) have been.

Not weeks ago, I got to know – today even female PS candidates are on abusive mining events in Rathanapura area. Radio sender clearly questioned why the authorities failed to address the isses was responded as – GOVT politicians are behind the incident. So all these tapes were recorded by Radio sender and prima facie evident are available, but within the brutal outfit of Rajapskhes, even law authorizing bodies have become beyond being weakend /helpless. There what works is – as everyliving being would do – they priortise to protect them – unless the Rajapskehs white van and other criminal activities will punish those who would even open the mouth against them.

Like the Premadasa stadium that went down and the 2 miles of traffic laden highway made by Chinese (in outskirts of K.L.back in 1987) that just went down.I have seen this happen in China too. Compacting in layers of 6″ and natural settlement has no substitute therefore UK has point blank refused to give the Chinese the road works time and again.
You may experience it because it happened in Nepal too all made by Chinese to local specs. Kickbacks speak for it. Chinese toys story of led was western specs. The Chinese ask the buyer for specs and don’t advice because they have no high tech. take care.

    Hello Palm Squirrel,

There are many countries in the world where democracy as we know it will not work. We are better off with MR’s way of governance. The experimentation with democracy has not worked. With so many trials and errors we surely must admit that the Westminster system has failed abjectly in Sri Lanka.

I can see the frustrated idiots who want to see blood on the pavements again in Sri Lanka. The guy who was asked to pay $ 1 million as a bribe to Rajapakshe son started this. That guy I am sure doesn’t even have Rs.10,000 in his bank account in the first place forget about starting new airlines. Whether brothers or not Rajapakshe’s know and can work. They have done so much during the past 8 years including putting a full stop to the war. No other head of state has done so much and all idiots want to get rid of them. Some call Rajapakshe regime as a dictatorship. They even haven’t got a threatening telephone call from anyone. Those idiots don’t know the meaning of a dictator. read about Stalin, Hitler, Pol Pot, Idi Amin, Saddam Hussein and many more. When dead loss Bandaranayke’s were ruling the country they had the Chandrika as the President, Sirima as the PM, Anura as the Speaker, Anuruddha Rattwatte as the Defence Minister and they did bull shit and no one was bothered to talk about them as they were lifetime slaves of Bandaranayake’s. This is LTTE diaspora reps and losers commenting on current SL administration. Gota is the most outstanding and brilliant planner and executioner out of all brothers. This country is yet to see a replacement close to MR.

How long do you think Rajapaksa will be allowed to run SL as their personal feifdom? They have war crimes accusations to answer to, they are being proscribed by the UN and western media for turning SL into a family dictatorship.

I’d give it 10 years at most, and I’m being rather optimistic, that the Rajapaksa regime will last.

First of all, who is in presence of supporting the Rajapakse government has only being blinded by there so called “Stop The War:. The War was ended (not stopped) because of obviously the LTTE being less supported and boycotted by there own people, like Pillayan and other’s. Now he is an Minister, and many others in concerned, The war ended because of our Brave soldiers, and Rajapakse just did so, so he could claim victory. Lets say that he indeed ended the war, and we are grateful that there isn’t any conflict surrounding now, but this happen because of the Atrocities which Rajapakse had committed, We are talking innocent peoples lives, and others in compere.

He the supreme leader Rajapakse is running Sri lanka as it is governed by a Monarchy of dictatorship and correspondence to that, there are many other much more appropriate titles to behold the secretary to the Defense and others.

More than anything ever, even when the war was in its climax, Cost of living, Human rights violation’s, and other concerns were never attributed, now these types of things are making Rajapakse a hard core dictator, and is only in conditional to him is whoever supports this agenda of crimes.

If Rajapakse so he says that he is indeed in consideration of making Sri Lanka an economic head, then human rights violations should be stopped, Cost of living is sky rocketing, Corruption, vandalism is ever high, Please stop this De facto state, else Karma will get back to you.

Wait and see, after CW summit, world will be more informed about our human rights records and all the x ray speed crime rates. Now these days only the Rajapskehs govt has speeded up that British tourist murder investigations. U know why ? Uk govt promised to raise the issue in the upcoming summit. Low grade of crime friendly Rajapakshe govt took over 18 months to bring the reuslt of DNA test of the brutal murder. This is just few hours for UK or any other country if they paid their attention wholeheartedly.

I have no doubt, that CW summit will give a green light about our HUMAN RIGHTS issues that the rulers have scored top sofar among the all other developing countries.
CW summit will be the waterloo of current ruling thugs.

      C Williams,

You say……..”Rajapakse is running Sri lanka as it is governed by a Monarchy of dictatorship”

I doubt your above comment as even Monarchies have their advisory panels who are comprised with highly educated visionaries who advise the monarchies.

But just count and see who advise Rajapakses on all issues. I doubt if you could find a handful of qualified advisers advising Rajapakses who Rajapakses themselves have studied only upto Grdae 10. Rajapakses are surrounded by Astrologers advising on all issues including Economy than the qualified ones.

First it was Gen.Sarath Fonseka who assured Pres.Rajapakse that he will finish the war in Two Years and he kept his Promise by finishing it in his time frame. Pres.Rajapakse got all the credit while Jailing the war hero Gen.SF. This is how Rajapakse mindset works.

Same thing Pres.Rajapakse did to Pradeep Kariyawasam by trapping him in TFC stock purchase scandal and then forcing him to resign from NSB, followed by impeaching his wife CJ Shirani Bandaranayake.

The corrupt dictators ruining our country running like a TODDY TAVERN.Borrowing, selling, cheating, fighting, murdering again borrowing etc, etc,

How can a Grade 10 passed President take over 70% of our economy, all ministries, all development work, all contracts, all projects, all foreign investments and new business ventures, the Judiciary, police, election commissions, all main stream media etc, etc. Where’s the possibility of Talented businessmen and others to show their talents and contribute to our economy and to venture into Businesses etc, etc, The commission Kakkas are restricting them.

Until we get rid of these “Alapaluwas” dumb ass Alibaba crooks, Sri Lanka will be a failed state.

Lee Kuan yew could be a Dictator, but he was a good Patriot Dictator and not a self imposed Alibaba dictator.

There’s a big difference between the two.

Over 100 killed in Iraq. and 50 in Syria by suicide car and truck bombs.

This was just on the weekend.

Has Pillai, Cameron or Harper expressed their disgust, anger and reprehension and demanded any boycott or punishments for the perpetrators of this misery in the Middle East?.

Wouldn’t our Lankan inhabitants be in the same league as the poor Iraqis and Syrians if not for the Raja brothers?.

These venom spitting Economic and other refugees should know that even their new Western brethren nowadays believe that good Karma cancels any bad.

    To BBS Rep

” We are utterly polarized into one camp or another and cannot forge a single Sri Lankan identity. That is why we at BBS say, if you want to follow the Tamil Nadu identity, go to Tamil Nadu. If you want to adopt Saudi Identity then go there. You may say we are racists and crude in our approach in forging a single identity, well you are welcome to that opinion.”

The Ceylon Tamils came to Ceylon 1500 years ago, why should they leave ? If they leave then you must leave to Bengal , that’s only fair.

There would have been Tamils in Ceylon before Vijaya and his colonists came because Southern India already had established Tamil and Dravidian speakers , so since Ceylon is a short boat ride away from Tamil Nadu , Tamil fishing communities would have lived in Northern Ceylon.

If you were Veddah, I wouldn’t have an issue with your comment, but you are invaders and colonists from what is present day Bengal and Orissa so why should you claim Sri Lanka for yourself.

Palm Squirrel —- “Ceylon Tamils came to Ceylon 1500 years ago, why should they leave?” The name Ceylon came into the discourse only after
the advent of the Portugese/Dutch (about 500 years ago) Meanwhile, Sinhala historians have recorded Thiruketheeswaram Temple in present Mannar (then Manthotam/Mantota) is over 3,000 years old.

I know that the name Ceylon is a colonial term; I was using it to describe the Tamils who were well established in Jaffna well before Indian Tamils were brought to Ceylon. Using the term “Ceylon Tamil” was just a quick way to convey this .

      PalmSquirrell,

It is not the identity the minorities are talking a bout, but it is the Racial Profiling that Sinhala Buddhist Racists are carrying on against minority population that matters.

What they ask for is Justice, freedom of expression, their rights to practice their culture and religions and to treat them like citizens, which is not happening now.

All the democratic countries all over the world have given their minorities these rights, and not one Race and religion to dictate terms. In USA there are over 450 different Races and religious groups living in harmony. How come Sri Lanka with three race groups cannot live in peace. It is the crook politicians manipulate everything for their advantage.

Please leave the minorities alone and don’t poke your fingers in their Ass..es when you have your own race people available to do that.

MYOB……Mind your own business with your own Race and Religion and leave others alone.

      • 0
        0

I wouldn’t call it race groups as Tamils and Singhalese are more or less from the same SubContinental native stock . Now the Veddah are mixed with both Tamils and Sinhala but have their own disticnt ancient identity.

Muslims aren’t a race unto themself. They are mostly Tamil and or Tamils and Sinhala mixed with Arabs though the Arab genetic input amongst Muslims has to be minor as evidenced by the paucity of the Arabian phenotype amongst Colombo Muslims . Then there is they tiny number of Memoms and Malays.

  • 0

    Palm Squirrel,

My friend, we Singhalese do not need to go to Orissa or Bengal. We do not identify ourselves as Bengalians or Orissans. The Tamils identify themselves with the culture, language and value systems of Tamil Nadu. That is why it is better for them to go there. It is the same with our Muslims. They live in Sri Lanka but there habits, hearts and minds are all with the Saudis. Is it not better for them to go there.

No point talking about history. It is irrelevant. What is relevant is now. The situation in the ground as it is today, as it is now.

“The Tamils identify themselves with the culture, language and value systems of Tamil Nadu. That is why it is better for them to go there.”

My dear dravidian blood brother BBS thamby, can you tell us what you want the tamils to do in order to win your hearts and minds and not be ethnically cleansed and deported to tamilnadu as refugees?

As for the muslims i believe from your writings if they do not wear the muslim clothes and don’t have halal for sinhalese you are okay with them? For the tamils it is unclear what you want them to do.

    • 0
      0

You do have your founding in Bengal and Orissa and South India and your culture is an amalgamated SubContinent culture, so if Tamils need to go then why shouldn’t you.

History is very much relevant, if not then why do Monks identify with a philosophy that started about 2500 years ago. Everyone one us today is influenced in our dailt life by what came before us; it isn’t like Sinhala and Tamils just fell out of the sky .

david,BBS rep in his previous comments in the vanniyar article, does not accept the fact that sinhalese are of indian origin. He says they are the sons of the soil and not the veddhas. Therefore he wants tamils to go to tamilnadu and muslims to go to saudi but he will grudgingly accommodate the veddhas.

Animal farm^s end will be the upcoming CW summit. World yet to know how really MR^s human rights abuses are. I have no doubt, there will be vociferous african states among the majority member states in CW to raise focused questions why the buggers allow MULTI CRIMER DOER to host the CW summit.

So where’s this guy who wanted to srat an airline from whom $ 1 million was asked as a bribe. Big talk. Atleast buy a three wheeler. Hooooo Hoooooo Lasantha was killed as he was a traitor and black mail journalist. The others who were against the military throughout the was on LTTE are in US or Europe from where they were funded by LTTE diaspora. They get their refugee visa claiming that they will be killed by the govt in SL and none of these street fighting journalist have even basic required qualifications and skills to apply for PR in any of those countries and refugee status is the easiest. Latest is Fedrica Janz. Mandana Ismail, Pradeep Ekneligoda, Iqbal Athas are some of them. Money for something journalists.
One such thing is after Emirates lost control in SriLankan Airlines writing against ‘Mihinair’ stopped as the funding by Emirates was stopped to the journalists who were writing and trying to stop another airline competing with SriLankan (at that time controlled by Emirates). So be a human rights activist or write some bull shit and seek refugee status and get LTTE diaspora support to live in the west.

They dont even care if Rajapskses acolytes would kill their own mothers and fathers. Such a lanken community we have got to see in SRILANKA today. They have no moral values, no respect – becoming more or less like Rajas. This is a kind of ecstasy pill to uneducated masses.

Here those who add pro Raja views have no idea about the facts and figures of the current situation in the country. They just do anything if they are fed with RICE PACKETS or other petty tricks.

See, this Abhaya – said to be from the UK- finally having got the chance to come and see his country of origin – seem to have gone mad as if any drug addict would have been.

BORING… Same old same old stuff.

Maybe this is why Sri Lanka has been successful in getting rid of the terrorist.
