Sri Lankan Diplunacy: Stray Dogs, Pricks, Tigresses And CHOGM 2013

By  –

Bandula Jayasekara

There is to our knowledge no governance around the use of social media by Sri Lanka’s foreign service, and Jayasekara’s Twitter account conveniently conflates personal opinion with official positions. On Thursday, 10th July alone, Jayasekara went after and included in his abominable invective journalists Callum Macrae, Frances HarrisonUK MP Alistair Burt, the Committee to Protect Journalists, the Editor of the Colombo Telegraph website and Senior TNA MP R. Sampanthan.

Jayasekara’s tweets and retweets over the course of Thursday alone featured the following language and sentiments,

Bandula Jayasekera has been on a high incline slippery slope since he abandoned the Colombo Post and be ame a political appointee in the diplomatic service and in the President’s office. A sad loss of a good man, who has mortgaged his values.

      Good man !!!!!!!!!!! OMG
He has a good face suits for monkey cage in a zoo and a big tongue to pacify MR’s back.(Earlier used by CBK).
Is a Trinitian, I doubt. Highest grade he passed is [Edited out]. As usual all these liars tell they are from reputed schools. In future he will tell he studied at Oxford and MR is a batch mate.

You people seem to be suffering from lanken college syndrome. No matter what you have achieved academically, but what count is the NAME OF THE college you went for schooling ? what narrow minded world – boarding school goers from UK would not be proud as you guys have been, this should be typical to lankens of your ilk.

Kamlesh Sharma is in record of assuring the Commonwealth and the world of his organisation’s commitment to main high “Commonwealth standards” – not to mention lofty Lattimer principles. One suspects this includes protecting the right, safety and interests of journalists merely doing their duty and who might wish to cover CHOGM.

The government should not block the entry of Callum MacRae to the country.

Instead it should immediately issue a statement to the effect that should Callum MacRae apply for an appropriate VISA it would be considered as any other. Callum MacRae is on a publicity drive cooking up a VISA controversy. After the man lands here, he should be given police protection throughout his visit.

However, people should be given the freedom to make sure he cannot even take one foot out of his vehicle! We are a democratic country and people have the right to protest against journalists that they believe are in the pay role of terrorists.

We should learn from the British and the LTTE rump. If 100,000+ Tamils can prevent a visiting head of state from attending to his business in a foreign country, why is it that 15 million or so Sinhala people subject a foreign journalist to even worst humiliation in their own country? If Tiger supporters can corner MR in a hotel in London people here can certainly keep Callum MacRae boxed inside his vehicle for a few days without even been able to go to the loo!

I’m quite certain, even if he is given a VISA and protection from the law, Callum MacRae is not going come here. He is not a damn fool. He knows what awaits him here.

This racist “Diplo-lunatic” is a disgrace to his country headed by a Mad Dictator. By his own admission, he is a black sinhala tiger,a bloody prick, a stray dog, a racist scum and Hitlerpaksha’s kiss-ass man. This bugger is raising his ugly head again, aspiring to be a cabinet minister in the not too distant future. He created history during his tenor of office while in Canada and in the US. His “capabilities” are far too numerous to describe and may be edited out by CT in keeping with their Comments Policy.

Bandula is a disgrace to Trinity College! When he came to US he was kicked out because he was trying to be funny with [Edited out]. Before that when he was in Canada he started to say he was in Toronto to bring all SRi Lankan communities together, but he was acting a “racist”. Even Trinitians who were supporting him started to stay away from him. They did not even want to invite him for the Trinity Dance in Toronto. His “boy” (the way he calls his help) did not return with him when he left Toronto.

Bandula is a loose cannon and does not think before he speaks. He is not a diplomat, but a doormat of Rajapakse. What qualification has he got to be a diplomat?

I also listened to his interviews several times, most of them unfortunately his is often one sided views though supporting the rulers for no acceptable reasons. I know this should be their duties being loyal to their masters, but anyways, forgetting what his role should be to go on saying that he would not allow that particular to enter the country is absolutely beyond the margins. His arguments are MOSTLY not based on the facts -miles away from senior diplomats like of DJ and Tamara Kulanayagam. These are clear consequences of wrong posts. In this incident, no doubt, Jayasekara seems to have exaggerated a bit. This is only typical to many of them being pseudo diplomats without diplomatic finesse.

We should not allow Journalists like Macrae but the regime should have to produce sufficient arguments respecting the international norms.

Why should we not let Macrae come to Sri Lanka? Are we so scared of him or are we scared that he will bring more dirt out in the open? If we say we are a democratic country we have to let him in. If his movies have stated incorrect information, its the duty of the government to prove that he is wrong. Without doing that, blocking Macrae further proves that the government is at fault. The damage done by Bandula by blocking former leader of the Liberal Party in Canada Bob Rae coming to Sri Lanka and holding him up at the Colombo airport and sending him back is a barbaric act. Bandula had to run away from Toronto because of that. By the way Bob Rae was given a visa to visit but was held up at the airport in Colombo.

This ‘boy’ has been accepted as a Convention Refugee in Canada as he fears to return to Sri Lanka because of BJ. A first time in the history where a former servant of a diplomat had been accepted as a refugee in Canada. The boy was represented by another Sri Lankan, I believe.

MR^s thuggish administration has all kind of covertly plans, but his acting to the people not to lose the voters he says ” we should all live like a single family”.
    ——————————————
All must live as one family – President
‘Sri Lanka is not a big country to divide into several parts as other countries’:
    Chaminda Perera

Sri Lanka is not a big country to divide into several parts as other countries. People in all parts of the country, including the North and East should live together, President Mahinda Rajapaksa said yesterday.

“The people in all parts of the country including the North and East should shed narrow political ideologies and live together as a single country,” the President said.

He said the government led by him has taken serious efforts to restore democracy in the Northern and Eastern provinces by holding local Government election, Parliament election and Presidential election and arrangements are in place to hold the Provincial Council election in the Northern province.

“No country, where this type of conflict prevailed, was able to heal the wounds of the people and restore normality as fast as Sri Lanka,” he said.

The President was speaking at the handing over of compensation to residents of the Northern province affected due to violence.

The programme was jointly organised by the Rehabilitation Authority and the Prisons Reforms and Rehabilitation Ministry.

Over 712 persons whose family members were killed in violence in the province received compensation from the President while 236 persons whose properties were destroyed due to the conflict also received compensation.

Compensation was also granted to places of religious worship in the province. Compensation worth Rs. 900 million were distributed among them yesterday.

The ministry granted compensation worth Rs. 500 million to families affected by violent activities in the province so far while over 1,000 people will receive compensation by the end of this year.

President Rajapaksa said a number of countries faced this type of violence, but Sri Lanka is the only country where compensation was granted to the people affected by violence.

“We are proud of developing the country within a very short span of time,” he said.

He said the government launched a massive programme to heal the wounds of the people affected by terrorism and promote reconciliation.

President Rajapaksa said people in all parts of the country were affected by terrorism that engulfed the nation for more than 30 years.

He said the government led by him succeeded in creating an environment in which people of all communities could live in peace and harmony through eradication of terrorism.

The students in the North and East can pursue their school and university education now. The government has rebuilt the infrastructure facilities devastated by the terrorists in these areas, the President said.

He said life in the North and East has returned to normal.

President Rajapaksa said the government took tremendous efforts to demine areas dotted with landmines and booby traps.

Prisons Reforms and Rehabilitation Minister Chandrasiri Gajadheera, Jaffna District Parliamentarian Chandrakumar Murugesu, Rehabilitation Authority Chairman G.A. Samarasainghe and Senior Minister Professor Tissa Vitharana were also present.

Don, What fucking nonsense are you quoting? On May 1st your stupid Mara farted like a buffalo on his lying stage that he would not increase a penny on electricity price, did he keep the word? These harangues are all pieces of nonsense written by idiots around him and given to him to be uttered at various silly functions to hoodwink the stupid buffalos in the country. Do you think any intelligent person in the country would be impressed by the sheer nonsense he utters with a stutter? No way!!!

Just read the top of the message please before jumping to attack Don. Don is one of my good friends – he does not deserve to be attacked by F words, you are both seem to have got it wrong. All what he intended was to pass that news to CT audience and make them clear the manner, MR further fools the nation. That s it. MR thinks that the nation in general are only out of naive majorities. His rhetorics are ridiculous to lowest end but still trying to stay on the same mode asking nation repeatedly to live like a single family. Was not the SAME guy – made clear on last INDEPENDENT DAY that the country belongs to SINHALA BUDDHISTS ? I have the feeling, that MR is in a crisis not to differentiate from what end he is speaking, sadly this man is a big joke for the entire nation :(

Why Trinity should be proud of him ?

      For his diplomatic finesse ?

I think, he should better learn to be more diplomatic not to face the same fiasco as had been with Toronto. I think BJ is a talented person though his credentials meet with all prerequisites to be a diplomat. He must not behave as if he is the president of sri lanka or … owner of sri lanka to leave ludicrous statements like ” I would not allow him to enter the country”. If the documents of Macraes or any bona fide journalists would not meet with VISA regulations, as it is common to any other visitor, his should be rejected.

Dont forget, Trinity even produced that mass murderer Anuruddha Ratwatte and his equally murderous sons. So, whats so great about being educated at Trinity or for that matter any other school which is held in hallowed awe by some foolish people.

2.Uneducated, 8th grade idiots with big mouth.
3.Ready to pacify MR’s and Gota’s back free of charge.
      4.Disgrace to the country.
5.Think they know every thing but knowing nothing.
6.Bandula and Mervin were CBK’s pet puppies in past.

      • 0
        0

Come on ! to that time, Mervin behaved well. He did not use his mouth to attack the decent as he has been doing since 2005. Most of all, today he has forgotten his past completely. To allow him to behave in that way should be punishable. But the incumbent idiot failed to do so for his own reasons. May be Mervin is one of key defenders of MR^s crimes. Mervin should be much worst than the Vaas Gunawardena by his records of crime cases. If the authorities fairly punished him at the beginning for his wrong doings, society would not have reached to the current appalling level of deterioration. Whatever the vulgar statements that Mervin the low grade man made publicly, he did not get the punishment accordingly.

Is this the same Bandula Jayasekera who was recalled from the SL’s UN mission for sexually harassing a woman? If so I am not surprised by his use of crass language when referring to respectable people like Mr Callum McRae, Ms Harrison and the elder statesman Mr Sambandan. Badula is a good role model for a diplomat for Sri Lanka – the miracle of Asia.

    • 0
      0

Yes, he is the same “BIJAY” (short for Bandula J) who served in Toronto. The only difference is he sexually harassed a couple of women, not just one.

  • 0
    0

Not sure if it serves any purpose in castigating him on his appearance, background or his credentials.
He serves the MR “diplomatic raised sarong” approach that he is willing to portray under the guise of “my motherland” without even for a moment thinking of the repercussions to 1) Sri Lanka 2) His credibility.

    It’s just a matter of time….

from this article, written by foreign paid ngo “employees” who run this site , it is clear that they think sloppy & racist callum macrae is a creditable journalist.

even though in many ways he fails when it come to standards of journalism.
    for instance,
he is yet to substantiate any of disputed claims made in his hate mongering movie,
he is yet to authenticate most of his sources,
he yet to explain reasons for his prejudices and assumptions about motives of various people in, and creating media in, the same movie.
    etc, etc.

when such a man who made a vicious movie attacking sri lanka for defeating tamil tigers who killed/maimaed our children, fails to do all that, anyone who is not employed by a western funded ngo, find him to be propagandist for racist tamil tiger terrorists , rather than a journalist.

and we should not be afraid to say so to him and his ilk.

it is only slaves who suffer such unjust abuse, as macrae choose to hurl at us, with bent heads silently.

      “.. sloppy & racist callum ..”!

What about your sloppy and racist MARA, GORA and swarming media whores who sniff the posterior of MARA?

“..yet to substantiate any of disputed claims made in his hate mongering movie, he is yet to authenticate most of his sources,..”

Of course he will, when an impartial international war crimes investigation starts.

“..attacking sri lanka for defeating tamil tigers who killed/maimaed our children,..”

Who entrusted you the duty of protecting Sri Lanka? Aren’t Tamils citizens of Sri Lanka? What about the Tamils who got killed/maimed by your MARA’s army who are allegedly responsible for massacring 40000 – 100000 Tamils?

      Don’t write nonsense.

You stupid disgruntled growling fuckers are just dribbling and dabbling away without any validity or point to prove. Think of your empty blaring about abolition of 13A. Have you done it now? Everything you and your stupid regime do is like this. It is pretty certain these foreign people would one day fuck you all!

      Ha haa haaaaa haaaa hooooooooooooooooooooo

Sittingnut, you can howl and deny every single atrocity done by the Sri Lankan government during the war but it makes no difference. You’re trying to defend a group of people who’ve already admitted their guilt. Take, for example, the wikileaks document wherein MR had admitted he knew certain “acts” had been committed, but then washed his hands off by claiming “we don’t know who did it”.

People of your kind led us into one war and blamed the resulting destruction on the very monster you created. I’ve seen your comments on the BBS matter, and I can see that you’re trying very hard to start another one.

It would be hard for most sane people to refute that Callum Macrae and Frances Harrison are biased in their reporting. These are low-level journalists looking for break by little Sri Lanka.

BUT, Bandula Jayasekera is a diplomat representing our country. Therefore by definition diplomacy is expected of him. His uncouth, ill conceived and useless tweets are far from diplomatic.

They provide unnecessary publicity to Macrae and Harrison, perfectly plays into the hands of the anti Sr Lankan camps and further undermines the standing of the Sri Lankan government. All of this with no tangible benefit to anyone but Bandula’s seemingly fragile ego.

Unfortunately with Rajapaksas’ nepotistic systematic decimation of the civil service and their fear of intellectuals, only goofs like this are left to represent out country.

    • 0
      0

Callum McRae and Frances Harrison are low level journalists? They are well known and well established journalists. The former is an award winning journalist and documentary maker and the latter a former foreign correspondent for the BBC.

For the supporters of the war criminals these journalists are biased because they brought the truth out into the open for every one to see and hear. The problem with Bandula Jayasekera is that he is unable to effectively counter the evidence of war crimes provided by these two journalists. So, for Bandula Jayasekera, being a guttersnipe, he is only able to respond in a crude and uncouth manner. Instead of behaving in a manner fit for a diplomat he is dragging the Sri Lankan diplomatic service and the country through the gutter, like his paymasters.

      • 0
        0

Piranha, the docs produced by Channel 4 on Sri Lanka contains systemic bias. For an example the visualization, the language, the narrative prepossess the Sri Lankan soldier as an antagonist done through editing. For an example showing a smirking face of a soldier just after showing a dead body even though they are not related. Showing fighter jets flying overhead and then showing injured people from a different context, not admitting that injured men shown could have been LTTE fighters, not indicating that the bodies being loaded into tractors were dead fighters, using a known LTTE woman as a principle narrator, the tone and the tenor etc.

That is why they are biased…..

Not saying that their weren’t war crimes but the Macrae’s documentaries are patently biased

    Shooting the Messenger

In attempting to prevent entry into the country of Callum Macrae, Frances Nicholson or anyone else, Sri Lanka if it is speaking through the voice of Mr. Bandula Jayasekera, is demonstrating quite vividly its lack of democratic credentials. Hence it is showing itself incapable of upholding basic Commonwealth values and principles. If however Mr. Jayasekera is speaking for himself he should be held to account by his government for stepping out of line, while holding a public position. The government’s silence speaks for itself.

Mr. Jayasekera’s intemperate words are unbecoming of a diplomat and does great harm to the image of SL.

Irrespective of the merits or otherwise of holding CHOGM in SL one needs to reflect on comments in your paper of threats of violence. Even if such is unintended it sends out a chilling message of the culture of lawlessness and impunity in the land. This is ‘shooting literally and metaphorically’!

The comments by the consul beggars belief. What influence does he have on the immigration system in the land? This system, like any, must be clear, transparent, adhered to and have a chain of accountability. By making that statement he is showing yet again that rules are made ad hoc, adhered to ad hoc and that there is no accountability. This is what has been lacking for too long in the country. When politicians too make threats, it shows that those in government are able to exercise power beyond the systems and structures of democratic government..

The best way of dealing with issues, however unpalatable and / or devoid of truth, is not by enforced silence or threats of violence but by healthy debate. Unless of course there is the over- riding need for silence! Samuel Johnson said ‘every man has a right to utter what he thinks truth, and every other man has a right to knock him down for it’.

It is total disgrace that this type of people represent Sri Lanka as diplomats. This person is not a Diplomat. He is a third class back door Lake House journalist who think he a great person. Inside he is full of shit, when open his ugly mouth every one can smell it. He will do any dirty work to safe guard his position. That is what he is doing all the time.
That is why he still does 3rd class twitter posting to fight with fellow journalist. He does know any single norm of diplomacy, even he does not have a brain to learn them.
It is a waste of time talk about this type of idiots.
I can make a suggestion this type of diplomats should posted to Mariyakadde or Wanathamulla.
