Former State Minister and UNP Parliamentarian Vijayakala Maheswaran who was arrested this morning by the Police Organized Crimes Division has been released on a surety bail of Rs. 500000 by Colombo Chief Magistrate Ranga Dissanayake.

The Parliamentarian was arrested by the Police over her statement on the resurgence of the LTTE.
The Police Organized Crimes Division arrested the Parliamentarian when appeared before the unit to give a statement this morning, with her lawyers.
The Attorney General previously gave the Police directions to proceed with action against the Parliamentarian as there was a criminal element in her statement.
Addressing a state event in Jaffna, Maheswaran said the LTTE should be resurrected to ensure the well-being of Tamils in the North. She made this remark against the backdrop of the soaring crime rate in the area.
Explaining the context of her statement, Maheswaran later told the Police that she spoke out of anger and frustration over heinous crimes taking place in her electorate, and did not intend to make a seditious remark.
Following the statement, she came under severe pressure to step down from her state ministerial portfolio.

1.) Today HRW has released an 84 pages report on the game New King playing about land release. That is going be to be very damaging in the coming March, 2019.
2.) UNHRC is has been working for few month to extend the March 2019 date for further 2 years. Of cause that will be very damaging to Tamils. But the part it is going play in Lankawe politics is the most Interesting. Yahapalanaya and many Tamil groups were suggesting it would be only one year but now it is two years. Whatever it is, Ranil may have to sign the extension. Given the country’s fragile economic condition, they have to as there is no other known way to deal with it, at this time. If it were one year, Ranil’s election campaign would say that they had successfully delayed the resolution up to time to invalidate it. So then Sinhalese may hold him less responsible for that in the election. Further if he win the election he would renegotiate with UNHRC. But if he loses election, Old King, who would be coming to power, takes the bullet. If it is two years, when comeback wining, it going to be the same thing and Ranil is going to end up answer for the same thing on sixth year in a row. If he loses, Old Royal will be blaming Ranil for putting them in that situation and he will hold UNP for that.
So you can keep asking where the proof is, where the proof is, but because the proof is already delivered to Yahapalanaya and they are somersaulting with it.

Of course not. Wimal and a small group of few others are supporting Gotabhaya and another small group is supporting Basil, making a division in the JO. The moment Wimal extended his support to Gotabhaya as the next President, he lost his own chance. They fell for the trap with their eyes open. Though the number is small, there are a few who support Ranil and Sirisena too. However the majority are not blind like them.

It looks like I have hurt the sentiment of some readers here. Let me please clarify what I said.
I never said what our soldiers did was right or wrong. I am unsure why readers are making inference that I am condoning rapes committed by our war heroes. The account provided by the victims of rape by the army was in fact corroborated with photographic and video evidence, which shows Tamil women were systematically raped. Even soldiers have admitted this to me personally.
My point is MP’s claim that before the war women were safer in the north has no merit. At least Tamil women are not ‘systematically’ raped now. She claimed that she said the LTTE need to resurrect or revive (depends on which media translation you follow) because women in the north are harassed. Which is BS. Women in the north faced more harassment by the army during LTTE reign

At least we Sinhalese were brave to be in the country amidst bomb blasts while affluent Tamils left the country through their own means or as a part of human smuggling, leaving the poor in the North to suffer from the scourge of terrorism.
After our Sinhalese parents sent their military sons in hundreds of thousands to fight against barbarian Prabhakaran and his ferocious cadre to save Tamils in the North, now Tamil Diaspora who were dead silent of the atrocities done by LTTE against their own community for 34 years are talking big.
Not only Sinhalese, majority Tamils and Muslims are ever grateful to former President Mahinda Rajapaksa and our Army for saving their lives. Let’s us talk to Tamils in the North at the next election to see the results.

The majority of those who deserted the Army presumably have suffered from PTSD for being in the jungle, fighting in the rain and hot sun among the sounds of fire and bombs for years, without seeing their loved ones for a longer period. Some like LRRP have even stayed lying down in one place sometimes a month. They have done a great service to the country but they were not looked after post-war. The Defence top brass had paid more attention to rehabilitate captured LTTE cadre than treating PTSD in military. US has many such programmes.

Instead she called for resurrection of the LTTE so that they can kill civilians in the North in LTTE style to keep them as hostages in accordance with Prabhakaran’s previous practice.
How many Sinhalese were killed by LTTE bombs. Did their killers receive punishment? Instead many LTTE cadre who was in custody was released by courts in batches in the recent past.
Only maniacs will support her in her bid to revive LTTE.
She doesn’t represent ordinary Tamils. She only represents LTTE. Otherwise she would never have uttered such words and hurt Tamils who lost their sons, daughters, brothers and husbands to LTTE.
As far as I know, none of Vijayakala’s children were child soldiers or suicide bombers. So she has no regard of the pain that was undergone by the parents of LTTE cadre, child soldiers and suicide bombers who were recruited to LTTE by force.
Tamils in the North lived in fear for 34 years. Even the thought of resurrecting LTTE would cringed them in fear and we Sinhalese too. There is no way we go through it again. Therefore, even the slightest move towards it should be thwarted.

I watch only selected parts of Hiru news depending on the story but all newscasts where MR, Wimal and JO in.
Apart from that I read “Ada” and post comments now and then and sometimes “Rivira,” based on the story.
The comments I rarely sent to some other places for articles of interest are not published.
But I read almost all articles and ACTIVELY take part in CT’s forum, both English and Sinhala.

It is indeed a mockery on the judiciary. When JO shouts” FOUL ” the ruling outfit doubles its efforts to make a point . I do believe it’s crucial that our political leaders are able to find common ground so that they can come to gather to solve the important problem we face today. But do I think they’re going to be singing “united we stand” and holding hands? The simple answer is NO.
Even an idiot knows that Vijayakala’s utterings had been taken 360 degrees out of context and used as a scape goat by these jokers. It seems that the power to be are only happy when there is upheaval and mayhem in the country , so that real issues facing the country could be side lined and ignored .Fooling themselves that it will go away somehow..
