The Mad Monk’s Birthday Party: Look Who His Patrons Are

Deshamanya R Duminda Silva, suspected murderer of Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra, UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayake, UNP MP Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe and EAP Edirisinghe Chairperson Soma Edirisinghe featured prominently among the patrons of the eccentric monk Pitiduwe Siridhamma of the Bellantara temple in Delhiwala in whose honour a lavish birthday party was thrown recently.

The pictures show the monk clad in saffron yellow raw silk robes, being felicitated and presented with gifts or walking on a temple flower clad path in his honour. The decor and food arrangements are extravagant.

How come the great slayer of corrupt Sinhala Buddhism, Sharmini Serasinghe hasn’t opened her mouth on this mad monk yet? Or is this the kind of “original” Buddhism she is always lecturing about?

To call this tamasha to feat a scoundrel priest extravagant is an understatement.

To call Sri Lankan people the most stupid people on earth is also an understatement.

This is Sri Lanka, this is Sri Lankan Buddhism – this is it. This is it.

All things make meaning in the perceptions of an individual. Whether this monk is extravagant or the people around him are true Buddhists are not important factors to who follow the real philosophy of the Buddha becuase all this as wellas those who question and make load noises are in the same boat.
If a monk is treated with all these with shraddha – at the level of partying by normal high class people in SL – there is nothing worng with it. It is the intention why the mpnk was treated with these this way and how the monk had accpeted all these is only thing that matters. If both parties were aware that all these things were only for that moment and food is for consumption, the Sangha member is treated with the highest available honour in the grand way with sharaddha only there is nothing wrong in it.
Why not treat a monk with the highest available style and facility with shraddah?
Whether both parties had the good intentions is another question and waht it would matter to anyone else in any case? If we follow the pure path of the Dhamma why would we poke into anyone elses problems? Are we saits to be questioning this?

There are different ways how to attain the enlighten as per Buddhism.
Most common of them are having extreme pleasure to your self, making extreme hardship to your self or the way Lord Buddha used something in the middle of both extremes.

Let this man as who ever he is practice what ever he wants. That’s for him and his future. Think about your self

Remember by wearing a yellow robe, you cant be a monk. It’s what and how you practice he who becomes a practitioner of religion or way of life.

‘Let none find fault with others; let none see the omissions and commissions of others. But let one see one’s own acts, done and undone’

How can one say this and then find fault with the people who are commenting as well? Surely it works both ways. By finding the comments wrong you are also violating your own logic.

We all know these monks are a disgrace to our doctrine.

Also to the idiot who said we can pleasure ourselves to enlightenment….please go to the closest temple and try to understand the teaching in depth….. Buddha was talking about morons like you when he believe many would not comprehend his teachings.
