Tissa Attanayake Remanded Till December

Former General Secretary of the United National Party, Tissa Attanayake was ordered to be remanded till December 5 by the Colombo High Court today.

TissaAttanayake, a former Minister was remanded on charges that he had prepared fraudulent documents where he had allegedly forged the signatures of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and President Maithripala Sirisena in a letter during the 2015 Presidential Election.

In September this year, the Attorney General indicted Attanayake in the case, and in late September the Colombo High Court issued notice on Attanayake ordering him to appear before court today.

The document prepared by Attanayake was alleged to have been a secret deal between the UNP National Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe and the then common opposition candidate Maithripala Sirisena.

During the run up to the Presidential Elections in 2015, Attanayake defected and extended support to former president Mahinda Rajapaksa, soon after which he was appointed as the Health Minister, a position left vacant after Sirisena broke ties with Rajapaksa to become the common opposition candidate.

This man TA should be very naive to have left UNP to join MR to that high critical juncture of politics.Above all he was the GS of UNP. The kind of men must not be forgivable.
We need to reform the laws so that one party high men not to allow other party s just because of personal gains. More of the kind of laws can give srilanka a better future.
Law and order minister should be aperson with a high disipline. Sagala Rathanayake is not powerful enough as I see it.
There are so many ill practices that have further been continued even today. Authorities must have to work hard. Each of them should be made accoutnable for their responsiblities.
When reading the bits about the country, each time, I feel, they dont work enough. Not even 10% of the counter part duties of those in the west. That endorses the reasons for stagnation.

RE: Tissa Attanayake and Gon Gamarala, comparison.

“Attanayake, a former Minister was remanded on charges that he had prepared fraudulent documents where he had allegedly forged the signatures of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and President Maithripala Sirisena in a letter during the 2015 Presidential Election.”

Why? Personal Gains, being bribed by the Rajapaksa and Cronies from the Stolen billions.

Who is latest target using the stolen billions from the Rajapkaksa and his cronies? Gon Gamarala, and he is criticizing the independent commissions, for going after the crooks, criminals and cronies of Gotabaya Rajapaksa.

This guy had financial difficulties with 2 children study in UK universities/colleges and MaRA got that weak point and offer him 500M and paid 200M at the time of the cross over and then gave the Health Ministry and ask him to recover other 300M.

unfortunately he could only have that ministry for 19 days and now a long jail term.

Sam, it was rumoured that he was paid Rs 500 million and a ministerial portfolio to defect. Now that was a princely sum he would never earn in his whole lifetime legitimately.

He is a fellow of very low calibre, not too different to all our politicians. Not a moral fibre in any one of them.

This man was likd kirihamy of UNP.

I nowbelieve, his mediation should have worked to widen the gap of rivals within the party to that time, than the other way around.

How could a man of hearted kind could ever be surrendered to 500M ?

TA – please reveal the truth about bribes rained on you so that yo could at least live rest of your years peacefully.

We now see the manner entire world back UNP leader when visiting to EU and a week ago in NZland: I happened to watch a telecasted program in which Dr H Silva says, that we ccould have been open to the world long before, then we could have achieved a lot to the progress. Sure, the war took 3 decades as no other soils of the same kind- but peple too are so mad at manipulating one another narrating their stoies. Even today, the stories similar to those of Rajakashes rascals and Udaya G and wws kind were there to tame the PEOPLE:

Last night Lokugamage was speechless when talking about the billions of debts adn the wrongful mixed numbers added in circulating papers. All in all… let alone today, they the idiots should stop spreading wrong views to the innocient easy targets for their political survivial.

UNP had gone through all the obstacles during the recent years.

But the leader had never been like would just leave his principles. Even if the sky was fallen on him, he had been stern with his thoughts. Even today, there are culprits that may do the job to break away theparty, but still not to the levels of the reptilian natue experienced within SLFP.

However, had this Tissa been a good politician, he would not have left the party that way to hang on and support a most vicious political adminsitration. Even if one would pardon to those left the party in the high days of fiece fightings against rebells – telling it was to strenghten the morals of the ruling govt, but to leave UNP in the later stage should NOT have done.
Besides, to have worked on forgeries, must not be diluted the way it has been sofar.
If TA to be puinshed, why not Wimal Buruwanse, who is proved ot have abused two passports with inconsistent entries about his identity. Latter should also be taken to consideration sooner than later, then only people of this country would be realized, justice is being served regardless of the status of the person alleged to have gone it.

Tissa after toiling countless years for the UNP had to pay the ultimate price for insisting that Ranil should run for the president. Ranil practically ignored Tissa in the final days and forced him to leave.
The document in question can not be a forge as everything in that has come true.
Tissa’s predicament show’s how much of a ruthless man Ranil is.

i think he made about 500 mln rupees on that deal with MR.see that he spends at least 20 years for fraud so that he does not enjoy that money in the near future.Mr must be cursing that so much of his ill gotten dough went down the drain on this strategic investment he was banking on to sabotage sirisena.

The 500 million he received as his deal is worth the two months in jail

500 M, I suppose in Ruppees not peanuts. Takes a long time to save such a vast sum, so two month in jail is worth it. MPs have no dignity not self respect, so they will go to jail uttering that it is jail for political reasons.

what is at all the truths of those sums are believed to have offered by MR and whose monies were they ?
Just after almost 2 years since the man of the match is chased away from the office, the current rulers havefailed to find the bits. What was being offered to Dayasiri ? All these sums, do you think should be forgettable easily for their political power ?

While TA has been the Kandy District Electoral Organizer, apart from being General Secretary – UNP was losing the grip hold of Kandy District, he was not successful as National Organizer as well. Ranil was smart enough to smell the TA sting, though expected TA to change mind with the tide swinging towards Common Candidate, But MR through the bait, since he was desperate get one eye catching fish – unfortunately TA was not a big one as MR imagined since TA has been plotting crossover for long! Whole of Kandy knew this!!

Ranil W & UNP could not get rid of this “idiot”; but MR came to rescue them (UNP & RW) in good time. Who knows whether Ranil & UNP gave that Rs. 500 million to MR and wanted to take him? That would have been quite possible, because MR would never have agreed to pay from his coffers for a “Parliamentarian” of that caliber. His “idiocy” was displayed in this production of a “forged document” that he said at the initial inquiry, he only saw it on his “table” OR most probably in his STABLE. Look at the “smiling face” (in picture in the main article) with (hand cuffed) hands up in the air greeting to the people of Sri Lanka. I said in of one my earlier comments and wanted to know why a person is not “Hand Cuffed” with the two hands behind his/her back as done in other civilized countries. Perhaps that method could be considered “uncivilized” in Sr Lanka. He will be out soon on “BAIL” and the Courts will grant him “Leave” to travel abroad to receive “medical treatment”.

“because MR would never have agreed to pay from his coffers for a “Parliamentarian” of that caliber.”

it was a ego thing like hitler going for stalingrad when he should have just bypassed it and one to the caucasian oil fields. MR wanted to pinch the UNP gen secretary because Ranil pinched SLFP gen secretary sirisena. So he was prepared to dump a lot of money to rub it in for ranil. Also the deal would involve fraud so the price goes up.also easy come easy go for ill gotten gains,it is not like MR has sweated his arse off for 500 million rupees.one or two deals only for him through basil the bagman.

What a Janus-faced traitor ! Look at him , his default
smile with cuffs on his hands !Is it an enjoyable
moment to spend the time behind bars so that you have
a happy face ? All these two-faced creatures follow
the same pattern to show the crowd that they are not
least bothered by the punishment while the true
feeling inside is suicidal . These creatures must be
named , shamed and completely wiped out of public
    face .

Tissa Attanayake is very proud he is a cheat and happily shows off his hand cuffs. If it was me or most of us we would have hidden ourselves in terrible shame. He must be coming from a bad charactered family.

The sad thing is the political parties want only the numbers not the quality. Such people should never have been allowed to join political parties. These bad characters do not just come accidentally overnight, they are in such peoples system for a long time since their early adulthood and most likely influenced by his family and associates.

Poor chap. His intelligence is poorer than that of a 3-year old baby. He, decides to change the everything upside down with less than 3 days to the election with the hope of of returning triumphant with that good for nothing follower of necromancy MR. With days to go for the election MR had been telling all around him that he is going to win. Poor Tissa fellow fell for it.

He can now use his mistress to go bribe the prison doctor (with the money MR bribed him with)to send him to the merchants ward at the general hospital where he can enjoy the company of Anura Senayaka and anyone else who has been arrested recently with enough robbed money. As Amarasiri rightly pointed out this is another example of a Gon Gamaya doing politics. No Principles, No shame just an opportunistic scoundrel waiting until the price is right.

      Wera,

what has this to do with Gon gamarala tell us please ?

I dont think you guys being on the same side as we are -to attack incumbent prez this way is right. We all fought to drive away Rajapakshes rascals. For that alone, sacrifices of Mr. Sirisena was indispensible. He woudl not have been live today, if Meeharaka returned to power by teh backing of over 50% of thirisannu of this nation. No matter even if your lovely ones would ahve been abducted, they woudl join brutal men with their night races and other club parties to enjoy their day – so was teh case with majority of idiots of this country. We are not reborn to have forgotten all at ones. You are all beyond shame to this nation, if fail to see it. In today s context, no any president could do the job as we think is right. Besides, this nation is more into corruptions and highly abuses than the other way around – the tiny minority that include me and few have to wait decades until majority folks turn out ot be civilized. Then we can talk about good governance the manner, the developed world practise in their soils.
