Two Complainants Against Dr Shafi Are Now Pregnant: CID

Two women who had complained that Dr Shafi Shihabdeen, at Kurunegala Teaching Hospital, had unlawfully carried out sterilisation procedures on them, are now pregnant.

Dr Shafi Siyabdeen

Earlier they said that they had to undergo caesarean birth when pregnant and they had been sterilised without their consent. Their complaint is that despite trying to conceive for the last two years they have not been able to do so, and they suspect Dr Shafi may have carried out sterilisation procedures on them.

According to CID sources, after lodging their complaints, the CID had invited them by telephone to be interviewed and the two mothers had said: “Sir… We do not need any investigation .. We are now pregnant”

Perhaps they both made the test to make sure. I feel this was necessary to prove the doctor was right all along

“Who made them pregnant ,is it Rathana himi or Gnanasara.”

      Colombo Telegraph:
Please let the Sinhala narrative given below from the Grape vines, Bulath vines, stand as it is very material to the above question and false charges and the news item.

      Thanslation:

“To mislead these women, it was under Wimal Weerawansa’s instructions by Kurunegala Mayor Thisara Witharana, and the expenses for the project was by Johnston Fernando, and it is no secret. To misled these undedicated women, Professor Channa Jayasumsana made statements that made powerful and forceful impressions on the women. Also, Aturaliya Ratna Thero, by agitating the Buddhist people tried to create an anti-Muslim agitation, have used this raw lying incident .”

Question: What is the punishment for the conspiracy by Wimal Weerawansa, Thisara Witharana, Professor Channa Jayasumsana and , Aturaliya Ratna Thero. Isn’t this a criminal act?

Comment: This is Para-Sinhala Para-“ Buddhism”, that is an insult to Buddhism and to the Buddha.

Who is the Kurunegala MP? Why is he silent? What about cardinal? Is he only interested in Roman Catholics and Budddhists? Where is his backbone to speak against the evils of Buddhist Powers as Raththana and WeeraW? What hypocrisy!

      Kapila,

      Q. Who is the Kurunegala MP?

      Q. Who are really behind this? See Amarasiri’s post from the Bulath vine.

Wimal Wrerawansa, Kurunegala Mayor, professor Viharana and Athiraliya Thero.

They all are Para-Sinhala Para-“Buddhists “, and are an insult to Buddhism and to the Buddha.

[Dr. Shafi has not been cleared by the panel of experts in this field appointed to investigate the allegations. Wait for their verdict before celebrating.]

Moda Eagle, what more verdict machang? Already his Holiness Mahanayaka Thero and Right Hon Weeramonkey have given their verdicts and what more then? Is there any more powerful verdict than these two in Dhamma Deepa? Blind, you are insulting our ancient, original, exclusive system that had evolved in Lankawa ever since human appeared on earth. Poorvika kudikal in this poorvika naadu.

Everyone deserves a fair trial no matter their religious beliefs. Investigators should be left alone. If there are allegations or evidence of corruption or undue political influence that should also be investigated. Journalists also have a duty to be open and not hindered but they also have duty to properly investigate.

      Christian,

      Is Jonathan Fernando a Christian?
Are the others Buddhists or simply Para-Sinhala Para-Buddhists?

How can a newspaper publish such a statement ” Their complaint is that despite trying to conceive for the last two years they have not been able to do so, and they suspect Dr Shafi may have carried out sterilisation procedures on them” They need to verify their sources and get proof. That’s journalism 101. I find it very troubling that a newspaper would publish this. Its not about whether it was true or not its about finding out with proper verification if it was true. Some very lazy reporters out there. I am not religious myself but I do care about the true and peace in Sri Lanka.

Is there no justice for Dr. Safi in this country just because he happens to be a Muslim when it has been proved that he is innocent of all accusations heaped upon him?

This is a Sinhala/Buddhist island, run by Sinhala/Buddhist fascists. What do you expect from them?

arrest all those who made false accusations against the doctor, especially Rathna Himi and Ganasara who are a disgrace to Buddhists. Can anybody just make false accusations and remain scot free?

Well done Rathana thero and Weeramonkey for now taking dr shafi before the SL medical council for his professional incompetence of not effectively doing the sterilisation surgery. Now that you morons lost the first innings now the time for second innings from a different pitch. We need much more like you guys to protect the natives. As a punishment these two women must give their children to a pansala.

Such a thing would never would have occurred to anyone in the majority community. This is very unfortunate for this poor doctor to suffer this fate because he represents a minority community.

I believe it is better to have a foreign country ruling Sri Lanka, rather than one community ruling other communities. In a foreign rule ‘All are Sri Lankans’. Foreigners cannot and has no need to differentiate communities. All citizens will be treated equally.

Dr. Shafi is accused of terrible things. If they are false then the poor doctor would face a lifelong trauma. On the other hand if they are true then he should be struck off the role, to say the least and one is reminded Doctors in Hitler’s time, such as Mengle. In fairness to everybody bits and pieces should not be highlighted. Let a complete and thorough investigation be conducted either to clear him beyond a shadow of doubt or find him guilty beyond a shadow of doubt.

Justice at the land of Buddha?

[The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has sought a disciplinary inquiry on two police officers over their investigations into Dr Mohamed Shafi, CID Director Shani Abeysekara said today (Aug 8).

Addressing a press briefing, the CID Director noted that two reports over the conduct of Kurunegala superintendent Mahinda Dissanayake and deputy inspector general Kithsiri Jayalath during the investigations have been handed over to the Acting Police Chief.

Mr. Abeysekara said that the two police officers had flawed during their probe into the doctor who had been arrested and then released over charges of sterilising women, the unlawful acquisition of assets, and links to terrorism.

The CID, during previous hearings at the Kurunegala Magistrate’s court, had maintained that evidence had not been found to prove the charges against Dr Shafi who had been employed at the Kurunegala Teaching Hospital.

A move to transfer the two police officers had also been suspended by the Police Commission earlier this month. ]
