UK High Commissioner Vacancy: Mahinda Wants Shiranee But Gota Pushes For Colomboge

The talk of the capital is that the President Mahinda Rajapaksa wants to appoint retired Supreme Court Justice Shiranee Tilakawardane as the new Hight Commissioner to the United Kingdom.

Justice Shiranee Tilakawardane

Justice Shiranee Tilakawardane

Justice Shiranee Tilakawardane has given false evidence before Parliamentary Select Committee on impeaching the Chief Justice Shirani Bandaranayake. As Colombo Telegraph reported earlier, there was a finding by the infamous Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC) that the case commonly known as the “Trillium Case” was wrongly taken before a bench presided by CJ Bandaranayake by CJ Banadaranayake herself. To arrive at this finding the PSC mainly relied on the evidence of Justice Shiranee Thilakawardene and PSC stated in its report that they believe and accept Justice Thilakawardene’s evidence in toto without hesitance.

Meanwhile the President’s brother, Secretary to the Ministry of Defence Gotabaya Rajapaksa is pushing for Ex-Navy Chief Jayanath Colombage instead of Shiranee, Colombo Telegraph reliably learns.

MR is a very grateful man! Unfortunately, the quality of the people he is gratefully to, has been always questionable.

      N,
I hope you have enough life experience to realize politicians appoint their own honchos rather than ones from their opposition.

By his reply to Dr. R, Eusense is in a way accepting that there are “no people of quality” in the ruling party!!

Hey I have a suggestion for the President for which he will surely make me a Deshamanaya. He must appoint his Foreign Affairs Advisor /Expert the Honorable ( please read as Dishonorable )Sajin de Vazz Gonaawardena to be tha Ambassador in London.

Sri Lanka will have many advantages in appointing Sajin the thug, crook, rowdy, commission expert, high school drop out, baggage boy turned Foreign Affairs expert.

But there is one problem.Whenever the Queen receives Sajin, she will have to suitably dressed, by which I mean she will have to wear armor as her cricketers do like pads, abdominal guard, elbow guard, helmet. Ofcourse she would not be required to wear a b.ll guard for obvious reasons. But a chest guard is a must.If the Brits can devise a cheek guard all the better. They may consult Nonis in devising a cheek guard.

NOTE. If Cameron were to meet the thug Sajin then a b.ll guard is a must.

It cannot be B.ll guard. It should be g..ly cover.

This was not the case under CBK, MrsB – that was the reason why the EA topped to that time. Harvest was grabed by MR as it is the case in any areas where he and his have touched sofar. CBKs external affairs under LATE Kadirgamar paved all ways to marginalize the tigers on global platform. Even if Kadir is no longer there, his legacy will NOT leave from the hearts and minds of srilanken patriots. Today, the spineless professor has been a caricature handly by a baggage boy who is close to the household of Raja. Nonis if he has his manly organs should be away from being an adviser even if President would beg him to do so. There, he would just betray the educated of this country not prioritising self respect and dignity of life.

my gosh, you call MR as a very grateful man ? What the man has done to the SLFP seniors to this day says everything about his gratefulness. He is fictiotious figure in lanken politics sofar. Real face and colours of the man is still to come to surface. Wait and see.

At the time, Dr. SB was unconstitionally removed from being CJ, this woman took the side of President. So, this kind of women or men to appoint to represent the country will undoubtedly be an another disaster. As far as I got to know from law college students, this woman is not won the hearts and minds of them. Anyway, if anybody would take the side of MR administration at this critical juncture- that expresses everything.

To obtain position Shirani has gone to such a low level giving evidence against your own collegue. But she could not became chief justice like Shirani Bandaranayake. She may be jealous with first female chief justice.

It must be payback time for the favour she gave to the Rajapakses by her alleged false evidence to impeach the Chief Justice Shirani Bandaranayake. She should be on her guard because the same could happen to her when she rattles the Rajapakses.

Filling vacancies with more thieves, so that they can scratch each others backs, and cover up crimes. Sri Lanka is being represented by crooks, liars, and pandang karats to the dictators.
Those who are in cahoots with this family, are close friends who benefit from their favors, shame on you all.

Hi, Shirani, if you are reading CT!
I respected you short of worshipping you sometime ago! Unfortunately all that respect has gone down the drain!!! You were thought to be a gender rights person…..BUT….when you gave evidence against your namesake lady ….. The cat was out of the bag?? I knew after a while you are not sincere as you show to be… I don’t want to go into detail since I know you well! Unfortunately the mutual trust is gone when you expose yourself?
oh! Dear Shirani, what a pathetic wreck you are today???

Is this some kind of Halloween joke? Maybe, trick or treat.

First, the news that Dr No might be offered a post as Presidential Advisor. Now, the speculation that our fragrant Shiranee-nee-nee might become incumbent at Hyde Park Gardens.

    Proper Nightmare on Galle Road.

By the way, has Dr No resigned; or has he re-signed? There is NO evidence on his own website, or the HC site, that he has.

These are truly ‘holmun days’. Must remember to cut a lime tonight.

Sir Chris Norris is a good hope for many….. Tamara Gunanayakam, Shiranee Bandaranayke, Sarath Fonseka, CJ Silva, Rajiva Wijeyasinhe, Dayan Jeyathilaka. All these condoms are waiting for another cozy day to loom in the sky. If Sir Norris make a deal, these poor things will feel better.

Sir Norris has a hope of replacing G.L.Peris. To accept that Job, his condition is kudu vase gang has to go out. I don’t know what will happen on that. Mahintha Samarasingha too has gone down a lot. He had friction with someone in the MEA. No company will employ you if it notices that you have disagreements with the team. Hakeem, Champika, Dew, Karuna, Vasu, Wimal, Douglas, Jaitha… these guys are seasoned politicians; they know the raft on the river rocks. That means don’t be a wild child, just learn to patiently take it as normal. But, when the Journey is over, you don’t have to carry it on your shoulder. You can kick it off the river.

This woman has been even sending threatening text messages to her colleagues, during CJ Shiranee’s case time from her cell phone. She did not turn out to be wild when she did not get the Jester post. She deserves this post. If she has a partnership in cloth manufacturing, she can bring back the EU’s GSP +.

Why not appoint Shiranthi Rajapaksa to this post? She might do a better job there wining and dining with the royal family and keep on sending enough photographs to be published in our Sinhala newspapers.

I had always thought of her as a highly respected person. She was educated and also worked abroad. But it goes to show that people even with such exposure can bend any way which the Rajapakse’s want. When the downfall of this regime happens the weeding process of the bitter and scornful seeds (like Shirani) the Rajapakse’s have planted all over in society today will be another challenge for the new government. I sincerely hope that whatever government that comes into power follows true buddhists teachings and principles of forgiveness and compassion and continue to heal the warped society we live in.

How about appointing that bastard Gnanasara. He has done so much to destroy the country’s image he might as well be allowed to finish the job.

I don’t know on what planet Dr RN lives for him to state that “MR is a very grateful man!”. I am not sure that ex CJ Sarath Silva will agree or as another respondent has noted, will some of MR’s colleagues in the SLFP. And as has been also noted, how come our great and learned Professor who is supposed to be our Foreign Minister does not seem to have a say in the appointment? If he is not doing what he is paid for doing, is he earning his salary unfairly?

But why fret and worry about all this? We can be confident that some stooge, some servile lackey will be appointed as HC to London. And anyway perhaps we should spare a thought for that poor sod, whoever that may turn out to be. It won’t be fun to try to present a good case when you have such a poor brief to go on.

from the comments here i can see that the readers are not taking the post of high commissioner in london seriously. It is a vital job in the current context of stalling these international investigations. Please don’t make such frivolous comments such as appointing vass,Shiranthi rajapakshe etc for such an important post.

I suggest a very practical and far sighted person who plans ahead to be appointed.A person like Dr.mervyn Silva who has even already selected his burial plot and cried there seems to be the person who fits the bill.
