The UN has been failing war affected civilians for a long time. Look how helpless and impotent they look in Syria. Massive reform is needed. On the flip side the western nation will lose interest in the UN if they perceive that their(western) interests are not being given priority. Once again the rich will win.

Among the charges that came out were that the army “intimidated” UN officials in carrying out their normal functions – a fairly serious charge the UN is unlikely to take lying down. Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe’s jocular dismissal the charge is “nonsense” might not hold much water if the UN choses to take follow up action on the Report.
