UNP Stands Firm: No National List For Losers

The United National Party has not entered names of their losing candidates on the national list as opposed to the UPFA and the JVP, said UNP Secretary Kabir Hashim through an official press release today, going on to stress that the party is maintaining their stance within the framework and promise of good governance.

However the UNFGG has gone on to appoint losing ACMC Puttalam Candidate M.H.M. Navavi on its list.

The UNP Secretary’s press release also highlighted that Krishantha Cooray, an earlier listed name had voluntarily opted out, providing the party the opportunity to field the 13 best suited candidates from the list of 29 names provided. Cooray had reiterated that he does not have to necessarily be a Member of Parliament to fulfill his political duties.

Meanwhile the JVP who were praised prior to the elections for setting a new trend in the political stratosphere, when they presented a national list full of professionals, intellectuals and civil society representatives, have now shifted their stance, choosing to enter their Matara losing candidate Sunil Handunneththi.

President Maithripala Sirisena’s UPFA led party nevertheless have gone on to field seven losing candidates on their national list out of the twelve names they had provided.

Of the seven losing UPFA candidates stalwarts such as Mahinda Samarasinghe, Thilanga Sumathipala, Lakshaman Yapa Abeywardena and S.B.Dissaayake are now set to enter parliament through the back door.

Owing to the firm stance taken by the UNP not to field losing candidates in the national list, their womens’ and children rights campaigner Rosy Senanayake, seems to have missed out despite obtaining a staggering number of votes, much more than many of those that will now be entering parliament.

UNP national list;

Can Mr. Kabir Hashim or anyone please enlighten me as to why charismatic politicians such as Mr. Imthiaz Bakeer Markar were omitted from the UNFGG – national list? I see names on the national list of those belonging to ACMC that is associated with a scoundrel like Bathuideen but not those who genuinely deserve a seat and senior pillars of the UNP?

At last there seems to be signs of SL emerging from the cess pool of corruption with the UNP standing by the Principle of good governance, not allowing cronies rejected by the voters to Parliament through the back door. In contrast, the UNF has continued on their usual path by appointing despicable yobs like SB Dissanayaka, even though rejected by the voters, which makes a mockery of MS’s Yahapalanya or maybe its an indication of his failure as a leader to stand by his commitments. I hope Ranil will have the strength to continue to reform the UNP by weeding out undesirables from the party & stopping all manner of cronyism, the root to corruption. The voter has the right to appoint the members to the Parliament but if rejected by the voter, they should not be allowed in through the back door, even though how powerful they maybe in the party. I also hope that Ranil will not compensate such people by lucrative Govt. postings either. Unless Ranil stands firm & stamp down corruption & cronyism, SL will soon sink in the cesspool & will never be able to get out. This is Ranil’s last chance & a golden opportunity be the saviour of SL. As for MR, he may have won the war against terrorism but in reality he lost the battle by not being able to unite the country.

Election Commissioner is responsible for this, he should not allow such people to be nominated, as their names have already been nominated to contest, and its the peoples duty to judge them, that’s the call, if they have been rejected by the people, how can they enter to parliment? Who are they going to representate? There are more qualified people than these roughs.

Now, the more important issue which we have to worry is the unwanted, pathetic, bad mouths, segregationists, rejected losers like S.B. Dissanayake, Thilanga Sumathipala, Mahinda Samarasinghe, Lakshman Yapa Abeywardane, Sarath Amunugama, Dilan Perera, and A.H.M. Fowzie will be promoted to ministerial posts in so called yahapalana. How about that.

    Mr. President and Mr. PM

With all respects, I am writing this note for you to do the right thing to our country. I do know you both are very long politicians and recognize the significance of good governance (GG). For whatever the reason, if you have a slight different vision on GG, I quote UN human rights commission statement of GG to facilitate you get more clearly understanding about GG. Please do not get the initiative that I try educating you as you both have provided a very long service to our democracy and most importantly you both saved this nation from disaster from MaRa. Here is the GG’s explanation: UNHR says, “The concept of good governance has been clarified by the work of the former Commission on Human Rights. In its resolution 2000/64, the Commission identified the key attributes of good governance:

    •transparency
    •responsibility
    •accountability
    •participation
•responsiveness (to the needs of the people)

So, if you get these views of GG, then there are too many things need modification in our parliament systems and election process. Isn’t it? GG is for people and that should guide building responsibility, accountability, greater participation, finally it should appreciate and welcome positive responsive to the needs of the people. In such situation, people like S.B. Dissanayake, Thilanga Sumathipala, Mahinda Samarasinghe, Lakshman Yapa Abeywardane, Vijith Vijayamuni Zoysa , Sarath Amunugama, Malith Jayathilake, Dilan Perera, Angajan Ramanathan, Faizer Musthapa, A.H.M. Fowzie and most importantly, M.L.A.M. Hizbullah are rejected based upon, democracy. That is all about GG. If you give fair and free election, then people will response to the situation. So take the verdict of people and do not change it from people’s version and adapt your own edition. It is absolutely wrong from GG.

Transparency, responsibility, accountability, participation, and importantly, people gave responsive result that these pathetic losers are not accepted in democracy. It is people’s verdict that is what calls GG. Remember GG is for people and you both listen to people and do what people need to make sustainable governance. Make no mistake to understand the power of people. The three decades war winning president and dreamed like Dutugemunu is begging now in front of you and going be seated in the last row in parliament. Can you believe what is Karma means? He cries every night; he even does not close his two eyes and sleep alike an ordinary citizen in the street of the country, and became the global political comedian/buffoon in front of his own constituencies. This is a great message for both of you to learn from the past and act wisely and let not repeating in your own political days. If you believe GG is people and for the country, then put the country first and party can come later. Make plans for the country. You should not encourage plans for losers. People without a doubt said that they are discarded from the democratic process of election and take that consequence as the verdict of democracy. Do not by pass or undermine innocent “people verdict” and poor “people inspiration” and modest “people responsive” and peace loving “people expectation” because their words, views, and sorrows are so powerful and they have LIFE and will repeat with serious consequences – if you believe the “Buddha”

Finally, in this article, people are talking very clearly about M.L.A.M. Hizbullah and his cheap attitudes. It is fucking shame to say he was studied at Peradeniya University. There are too many cheap bustards studied in this wonderful university and have used this wonderful intuition as snow board for shameful success. I can give more than 50 names of those bustards who have worked for MaRa, GoRa, NaRa, BaRa, SB etc. But it is another year long discussion. Let’s get to the point, sack fucker Hizbullah from the national list and listen to the poor people from Katthankudi. They need Good Governance and help them to come out from this nasty politics.

We are waiting to hear from the parliament decision
    Best,

Well done UNP. Ranil has led in an exemplary fashion. No room for defeated candidates means NO ROOM whoever it maybe. If the
UNP did appoint it would have been a slap in the face of the voters who rejected them.It would have also made a mockery of democracy,

How a party leader with a working brain can appoint a man like SB. What he said about president Sirisena, CBK and how he speaks in the public. Both, president and CBK have forgot all about it. Now they are buddies. People shouldn’t trust these politicians. They are master manipulators and don’t care about the country. Why CBK is back? During CBK time, country all most lost to LTTE until late MR. Janaka Perera, rescued from the clutches of the LTTE.

US President Johnson once explained the inclusion of some rubbish into his group by saying that “so that they may piss out of my tent at others instead of pissing in from outside”.

I guess Johnson had some secure monitoring to guarantee that they would not piss or sh.t inside his tent.

Let us pray President Sirisena too has some such controls.
