Video: Mahinda Rajapaksa Attempts To Attack UPFA Supporter

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, during a UPFA election rally in Akuressa, moved angrily towards a party supporter, as if he was going to attack the man.

Rajapaksa’s behaviour was captured on a video and posted by a person who was present at the rally.

Rajapaksa reacted angrily when a supporter, who came close to him, pulled his hand before the former President got on to the stage.

The former President was taken away by his body guards and other UPFA members who surrounded him.

Rakapaka then got on to the stage, showed his respect to the Buddhist monks and waved his hands at supporters as if nothing happened.

Rascals will stay rascals even if some people would not get that easiy for their stupidity. This man had been a Rasthiyadu karaya of Beliattha – even if the luck allowed him to become the president and grabed the power through familiy denasty. For no reasons, following war victory claimed by state forces, he deliberately, ate the cake painting the picture that he was the man to have won the war… those who know it, are very clar, war was not started in 2005. This man and other leaders.. made every efforts to end it by their own way. So all the leaders should be given a part of credit for the war victory – no, man thought it was his wisdom brought it. His henchmen kith and kin and everyone supported to paint the picture even contrast. No matter, some social fractions felt – the other way around, no place for them to leave their thoughts in the world Rajapakshe thought it is entirely his. All these went upto MY3 the most humble politician sacrificed it for the sake of the goodies. Today, even Jarapakshe can do whatever he thinks is right.. as MY3 THE Mr Noble describe it.. DEMOCRASY.. do re galanawa.. overflows today… he is the only president to have been attacked so absylmally for to have given nominations to MR… anyways, in a world almost every second is an idiot or crime friendly or no ideaabout good governance, what couULD MY3 or the like do ? This he made very clear in the great speech he held lately. THere is no leader in the country who could express it than MY3. He was so authentic to right people s eye… unlike MR s true colours are still to be learnt.. I believe, Mahinda Jarapakshes is the most abusive and revengeful man of the current day srilanka. He rally onyl with those who would support him to stay like Raja. THERE anyone would see it… the wisdom of the leader.

So, what is the big deal?

The video clearly shows that someone try to pull Mahinda aggressively from his hand while he was walking and Mahinda tried to block himself. The man’s action was totally unnecessary but people always try to grab or touch his hand. So, what is wrong with Mahinda blocking himself? He is a strong man.

At every rally, we witness this. People go crazy about him. From the time he gets out of the car, people try to get close to Mahinda. Many times I have seen, people pulling and pushing him trying to get close to him or touch his hands. People always get overwhelmed by his presence.

With regard to the pathetic paragraph in ‘SINHALA’, we all admire the warrior in Mahinda. He didn’t get ‘guts’ from Wimal, Dinesh, Gammanpila or Vasu. They brilliantly facilitated his political come back and filled the vacuum for him while he was on retreat. Even after his defeat, Mahinda was harassed by the ‘Good Governance’ government for nearly 7 months. Surely, nobody can expect someone who is physically and mentally as strong as Mahinda to go to retirement, especially considering the deplorable state that the country is in.

Those who know make every effort to merge A with B.

Once rascal would never loose his rascal nature easily even if he would have been kept in a golden cage. Real barbaric nature of Mahinda is still to be revealed. That we can see most likely after August 17 – being defeated – being unable to bear it.. either he will go mad or go amok.

How come this kind of Tsunami Embezzeler to start his political agendas always being on a temple premises – that alone sends the message across the guy is bound to be nationalistic. In Europe nationalistic agendas are hated since the wars brought all disharmonies. In our cultures, nationalistic agendas are being worshiped ?

Latter is being abused by Rajapakshes to consolidate their power greediness. ELSE; what is the example that Rapajakshe passes to the young generation.
Even if your terms are done, still you need to be greedy not leaving space others to show their talents ?

Big deal is, what a shame for an ex-president (the only defeated president in LK), even to react in such a way !

He is shameless, no class and will do anything to regain power. Bugger has no reputation to protect so will do anything at any cost !

The CT has sunk to the depths of desperation to show MR in a negative light. It is obvious he was reacting to someone tugging at his hand – he is in fact moving backwards rather then towards the person concerned.

What of the cyanide capsules on the way to Sri Lankan? No, that type of game changer news would not go down well with your one-sided audience.

It is one thing to pander to your demographic but I thought this kind of straw-clutching was beneath you – but I was obviously wrong.

      • 6
        7

        Dear Just Saying,

I agree with you. This is typical of the CT’s demonization of Mahinda and Gotabaya Rajapaksa, which makes one skeptical about anything they publish on Sri Lankan politics. The huge number of thumbs up for the puerile, poorly worded comment accusing Rajapaksa having “no brain” and the fact that any comment that abuses the Rajapaksas, however crude and silly, receives positive votes from the CT voters does reflect a one-sided audience.

I can’t tell from watching this clip whether Rajapaksa was raising his hand to protect himself or because he was being pulled and was fearful. His movement is away from the man that was pulling him and he seems to stumble away. It’s called framing, when CT declares “Rakapaksa Attempts to Attack UPFA Supporter”.

He didn’t “attempt” to attack anyone. If he wanted to attack him he would not have been stumbling away from him, and his raised left hand would have collided with the man who was holding his right hand. It is not clear whether he was angry or afraid, but he certainly did not attempt to attack one of his supporters. Why would he attack someone who’s supporting him in the first place?

I smelt a rat as soon as I read the headline, given UK’s (I mean Uvindu Kurukulasuriya’s) track record. CT has it’s devious side. It is also a unique forum to debate and discuss Sri Lankan history and the relative perspective of Tamils, Sinhalese, Burghers and Muslims on matters of race, language, politics and religion, hopefully with some input from people actually living in Sri Lanka (most commentators do not reveal their name or location).

I have found that the CT contributors and commentators (noting that most readers to do not comment or vote) are discussing and debating from different camps, all unified against Rajapaksas, and with mixed feelings, but generally supportive of Sirisena. They do not engage in demonization of Sirisena, Ranil Wickremasinghe, Chandrika Kumaratunga or any of the UNP politicians, and if they did there would be howls of protest from readers. They are also the main outlet for the Transnational Government of Tamil Eelam (TGTE) to communicate with its cyber-subjects.

I do have fun here, despite the negative votes I am bound to gain for comments such as this (assuming it’s published).

I had not heard anything about cyanide capsules on the way to Sri Lanka, and am interested in this news – could you tell us more?

        Best wishes

as for commentators , all most all of us hate Mahinda , it’s a fact , no body tries to beat around the bush here , your kilo meter long silly justifications is pathetic , we know how you would rate Mahinda .

Cheers Gamini , what do you reckon about the outcome Aug 17 ? i reckon , may be 60 odd seats would grab Mafia King’s clan would The UNP be able to surpass the magic number of 113 ?

Kurunegala is not a very strong district for UNP , there are only few well known UNP candidates ( Akila , Nalin , Jayawickrama P , may be Navinna etc ) contesting, whereas in the Blue’s camp MR, Dayasiri , Johnny, TB Ekanayake , Salinda D ,Shantha B, Nilwala W et al. getting more than 50,000 votes for the above lot is not that hard.

Those who worked under APE MINIHA principle above any qualificaitons have to face it today or later. As everyone with little brains are very clear that no whatsoever foreign principle was there in the external affairs putting a man with higher degrees as the caricature – Mahinda Rajapakshe adminsitration abused it to core. Can anybody say that there were good principle with lanken foreign affairs under MR – should be blind and deaf. Alone to have the sessions to get put off upto September is a great thing. If that failed, MR would have already been taken away. Alone for that, the bugger shoudl be greatful to the current regime. Just to attack the current adminsitration for no good reasons, but to come to power because of greediness to the power – should be a greater mistake of a leader. People can attned any kind of rallies, numbers say nothing. This we observed for his all wasteful rallies held beofre Jan 8th. This man is absolutely not the one who deserve the office for the second time.

SEE THE CHIMP IN ACTON ON THE VIDEO.

      Ansar

I have replied to your bullsxxx earlier too. Mahinda was addressing a rally in Kesbewa when he received a phone call informing of Susil’s sudden illness.

You are very poor in making up stories. You should follow a US sponsored Course “How to mislead people against a democratic leader”, just like Ranil did.

Re: the pathetic video, I have already made a comment. It applies to you too.

        2

        Champa,

Yes, the Monster received a call that Susil was admitted and advised to Rush to the Hospital to pacify him or else, he would publicise the story.

This is what Susil said, just after MARA left the hospital after apologising to Susil. ” MEKAWA NANG, HADANDAMA BE. MOOWA NIKANG MEDMULANAMA THIYANDA THIBBA, API THAMAI MODA KAMAK KARA GATHE.”

It is you who is ill informed of the real inside story. Do not confine your reading just to some dailies, try to gather as information as possible from reliable sources. Do some soul searching, especially of your TSUNAMI HORA MASTER.You will be surprised of the findings and will be ashamed that our country was ruled by a thuggish leader.

ASK GEMUMU WIJEWARDANE, HOW HE WAS MERCILESSLY ATTACKED BY THE CHIMP IN TEMPLE TREES SOMETIME BACK FOR NOT OBEYING MARA’S ORDERS. IT WAS THE PSD WHO RESCUED HIM, JUST LIKE WHAT HAPPENED YESTERDAY.

Not only Gamunu Wijewardene, why? what about Loku Athula, Nirmala Wijesinghe who died at the hands of MR at Temple Trees? Not even a postmortem after the assault by MR on the poor fellow. Luckily for MR, loku Athula has no immediate family to demand an inquiry, so he managed to hush up every thing.

Ask Uvindu Kurukulasooriya, Editor CT how ruthless MR is, he will tell you. Uvindu is lucky to be alive today unlike Lasantha W.

Repeating Brian Senewiratne’s rumour (published in CT) that ‘Loku Athula’ was killed by Rajapaksa with his bare hands in the secrecy of Temple Trees, because he had a heart attack there??

He was told this rumour by a Tamil friend of his in Brisbane, embellished it in his usual fashion, and repeated it as fact in one of his denunciations of Mahinda and Gotabaya Rajapaska on Colombo Telegraph.

You’ve lost any vestige of credibility that you had, Gamini.

              Romesh,

Whom are you trying to bluff? It is a public secret how Loku Athula was summoned to Temple Trees after he announced that he was to support MS for Presidency. Then he suddenly died at Temple Trees whether it is from a heart attack obviously provoked by MR or due to an assault by MR. Why was there no postmortem? and everything was hushed up? Nothing was even mentioned in the media here. It was only Web news.

Do not worry about my credibility, try to preserve, if you have any. Make sure you take your medicine in time, as you tend to display you are cuckoo once again.

Just when I thought Colombo Telegraph was finally becoming civilized they go ahead with such misleading news items. Is the person who edited this news item a fool or is it the people who blindly accept the misleading content? If you watch the video it is clear that some person attempts to grab MR and pull him, at which point MR reacts. This if at all is a security threat to the former President of the country. The President who ensured you’ll are able to roam around Sri Lanka without the fear of being killed by the ruthless Tigers. To all the lovely people who are attempting to misuse this video for political advantage, think a bit (if you have brains). Suppose you were in a large crowd and one individual grabbed your hand to perhaps steal your watch. Would you relax like nothing is happening or would you react and try to push that person away in self defense? Every action has an equal and opposite reaction. Whilst the editor’s public display of stupidity can no longer be changed, those commenting on the other hand have the opportunity of being more intelligent.

Someone grabbed his 500g golden rod that he keeps in-between his fingers. Rubbing that gold rod gives him high flying spiritual feelings that he is the king of Sri Lanka.

Someone might have squeezed that rod hard enough to cause terrible pain in his fingers. That is why MR spontaneously reacted and took a swing toward that person without thinking the surround people or cameras.

It is obvious Former President Rajapaksa is being jostled by many people. He is pulling is hand away, he is NOT trying to hit someone!!! He appears to be losing his balance when someone pulled his hand.

This is terrible that people are using false allegations against Mahinda Rajapaksa. In my opinion, he should NOT be in the midst of so many people when the LTTE terrorists have vowed to kill him. It is too dangerous for him.

I saw the video. I personally don’t think you can fault MR for what happened, and anyone would have reacted the same as MR did. I am fed up with MR’s arrogance and the lavish style he lived plundering the wealth of the country, but I cannot fault him on incident shown on this video.
