    K.A Sumanasekera,

“Whilst these simple Sinhala Buddhist Monks have protected, and kept this little Island of Srilanka on the world map for two and half Millenia.many others of the same vintage or perhaps older have isintergrated or dismantled..”

Stupid pakkaliya of the regime’s laundry, is this how they have protected Buddhism and Sri Lanka-by biting women’s faces? Get lost bloody fool! We do not need your opinion or protection theories!

It is better to legalise marriage for monks . That is only way to save Buddhism

Nas, Why do you believe the Buddhist Priests practice celibacy? For that matter even without marriage most Priests have down the years have kept Upasaka Mathawos and have fathered many a children. This is very common in all Temples in Sri Lanka. Some of the male children have also taken to Priesthood being the rightful heirs to the Temple Property, to keep the family tradition going. This is an Open Secret.

Gamini, where do you get this ‘most Priests’ and ‘very common in all Temples’ from? Ranil will be very disappointed with your imprecision, to put it mildly.

Puswella, it appears that you have no knowledge about the Buddhist temples and the Buddhist Priests in Sri Lanka. Visit them, meet many Dayakayas as possible to find out the truth. Then you will come to know what is happening behind the Curtain which most Buddhists keep these issues under cover. In reality the Buddhists have become immune to such issues. One reason for me to be skeptic is that I have seen in most Buddhist Temples and Priests lead Hypocritical lives. The Buddhist laity as yourself conveniently claim that you worship and respect the Robe, but not the person. My Foot!

Hmm. So there is no precision. It is still ‘most Priests’ and ‘very common in all Temples’. As a matter of fact I am aware of scores of temples where the monks behave impeccably. Would you like a list?

Puswella, do not go far, your fingers on one hand will be too many to count the number of Impeccable Priests that you speak off, as most have become Buddhist Priests due to compulsion rather than denouncing all worldly desires. When there is no serious commitment there cannot be absolute conviction. This is precise for your information.

              ‘Puswella, do not go far…’

Gamini, my point is that you make generalizations ‘most priests’, ‘all temples’. This makes no sense.

Further, you make assumptions. ‘The Buddhist laity as yourself’. I am certainly not a Buddhist, although I know a lot about Buddhism.

Finally, you derive conclusions from these wrong assumptions. ‘Conveniently claim that you worship and respect the Robe, but not the person’. Obviously, I worship neither.

A very poor effort. You are making KA Sumanasekara look good.

Puswella, you think you are a smart Alec. You state your point is that I make generalizations, ‘most priests’, ‘all temples’, that makes no sense. You further state that you are aware of scores of temples where the monks behave impeccably and even offer a list if I like. I am sure your list would have included the Thames Viharaya in London and the Budda Gaya in India, had you prepared the list before.

Puswella, I hail from one of the oldest Sinhala families in this country and my forefathers have donated large extents of land and built temples that stands to date in the Up country area. I have been to many temples and this is something that I have observed personally. Hence I have lost faith in every priest of today and I do not require the services of any of them and have instructed my children not to bring any close to my coffin once I die. I do not need their Visa to trek this journey of Samsara. So trying to teach me about the present day Buddhist Priests is like you trying to teach your Grand Mother to suck eggs.

Be that as it may, why are you Boutique going to these Saffron Buggers? if you are claiming you are not a Buddhist and do not worship either, the Robe or the Priest? Puswella your slip is showing and the readership here are no fools, not to see it.

    Dear Mr. Jim,
‘The Vatican is full of scandals’ etc.True. We are aware of such scandals all over the world..
The Bible tells us that ALL have sinned and there is no one who is right in God’s sight.

” For all have sinned and fall short of God’s Holy standards”-Romans.3.23

That is why Almighty God offered the Holy Life of His Son,
Jesus Christ, the Final Blood Sacrifice for the sins of everyone.
The Lord Jesus took our ‘AKUSALA’ and gave(gives) His ‘KUSALA’ to
those who turn from their sinful ways and believe in Him.

Hope the scripture quotes below would help you understand Christian Truths more clearly? Don’t look at the Vatican or anyone else- just read up bout Jesus and find out for yourself.Blessings!

” Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest”-Matthew.11.28

“For He bore the sins of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.”Isaiah.53.12

“It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners”- Mark.2.17

“Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept
pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually
    immoral.”- Hebrews.13.4

“But if they cannot control themselves, they should marry,
for it is better to marry than to burn with passion”.
    1Corinthians.7.9

    (From The Holy Bible)

      SANDY:

Lord was brought into the Picture once Roman Used Jesus’s underground movement as a political movement.

Romans Nailed Jesus to the Cross in the way Romans at that time killed traitors to the regime.

Jesus was a Humanitarian and Romans made it a political movement and a religion.

More to it. At the beginning even the POPES were INSTIGATORS OF WARS.

I am laughing my sides out seeing Jim Softy trying in vain, bending forwards and backwards to defend the Olcott Buddhists of Sri Lanka. Could someone kindly give Jima a tub of Siddhalepa and a Safron Robe please.

If I were the minister of Buddhist and cultural affairs, I would have taken the due action against this kind of monks.

Asking them to practise their own kind of life style becoming lay people or even take legal action against this kind of monks behaving to this abysmal manner.

Law and order has become a laughing matter today in the country. Nobody cares of the law. If the rulers cant react accordingly, people have no choice than taking the law to their hands. This is becoming a reality day to another – it is an anarchy :(

    Hi Buddhist,

You should take these steps to protect your religion

    1) Reduce the number of Monks so that only monks who know Buddhism should be allowed to be a monk

    2) Monks should only help people on religious matters not in politics, racism

    3) Ask them to preach religion not to protect (who the hell these monk to protect a long powerful concept of Buddhism in this earth)

    4) Remove the mentality of that you’re the protector of Buddhism. Just follow the Buddhism

If all these happen, SL will be good land for all citizens
Look all other religion priest in SL learn from them
