Responding to state media attacks on the Chief Justice and the Judiciary, Lawyers Collective urges the Government to refrain from unfair, malicious and false propaganda.
“It is because the accusations brought against the Chief Justice in a politically motivated impeachment have been rightly rejected by the public, that the Government is resorting to numerous unfair strategies to tarnish the image of the Chief Justice and the Judiciary, in general.” says the Lawyers Collective.
Issuing a statement the Lawyers Collective says; “We have noted that various politicians are disgracefully inviting the serving judges, including the Chief Justice, to enter politics, which the Lawyers Collective considers an insult to the Judiciary. Contrary to the insinuations of the Government, we are confident that the Chief Justice would not enter active politics. We have also learnt that the Government is planning to discredit the Chief Justice and other judges in a series of programmes and news features in the State Media, based on those ill advised invitations by irresponsible politicians.”
“We, therefore, call upon the politicians of all parties and media to act with restraint leaving no room for any such derogatory and insulting comments undermining the independence of the judiciary.” it further says.

I would also mention the decision of the former ex CJ,about deliberately giving the wrong judgement on the Hambantota Account case against Mahinda Rajapakse, when it was proved that he had deposited donations for welfare of tsunami survivers, into his own private bank account.
The former CJ has admitted that he erred.
Any case can be re-opened when there is strong suspicion of miscarriage of justice.
The ex CJ’s ‘cross overs’ decision created a slavish sycophantic corps of MPs who sold their birthright,self respect and honour for bogus portfolios,perks and opportunities to amass ill-gotten wealth.

Talk of the town is impeachment not yesteryear matters. CJ said; she is not guilty for any of the 14 charges she is been accused of. But the PSC has found her guilty for three. Most Simple Simon like to hear both sides and give the judgement themselves.
People are not stupid. Asking for time and talking irrelevant matters is an aged old delaying tactic of losers. Many of us must have paid ‘black coated sharks’ to do just that to buy time when we have been losing court cases.
If a person found guilty of misbehaviour head the judiciary by default is very bad for the country as well as the judiciary. Hence, this impeachment must be concluded this way or that way, sooner the better.
ShriyaniB and her backers or HRW can appeal to any International Court afterword on violation of her human rights and send the government for a spin.

Anyone can invite but the decision has to be taken by the CJ. Invitation to the CJ is not at fault of the CJ because she hasn’t given her consent and she has been silent over the invitation. Anone can even invite the Indian President or the Chinese Prime Minister but they couldn’t be found fault for that invitation. The invitation could be very good for the country but it may not be a good move for her position. If she has to leave due to bogus charges or fabricated stories just because there is a 2/3 majority, than she could think over it. I think the request made by Gen.SF for CJ to join him for active politics is a Jenuine and a honest request to clean up the corruption,dirt and mess that have accumulated in the parliament ever since we got Independence.
Although it is a difficult task due to the cancer been deep rooted, still with jenuine and honest set of politicians, professionals and visionaries we still could bring a change.
CJ is already an Icon where people have finally realised how the dirty politics all this time have taken them for a ride…..and are jenuinely looking for a change. But that change should be impartial, equal justice for all and with a strong vision to develop the country in all aspects, using all the resources(manpower, capital,land,enterprenuership and innovators) to suit 21st century.
Just Imagine During ancient Kings time we had 1000 odd irrigation dams (Wevas). But now after 500 years we still have only those 1000 dams with the exceptions of few hydaulic dams like Mahaweli, Kothmale etc…..while the population has increased over 100 fold.
I will bet with anybody that although we have FLOODS ALL OVER THE COUNTRY TODAY AND MOST OF THE DAMS ARE OVER FLOODED AND THE SLUICE GATES ARE OPENED…….GIVEN A “THREE WEEKS” OF NO RAIN OR DRAUGHT…….GOVT. WILL IMPOSE A WATER CUT…POWER CUT….OR RESTRICT RELEASING WATER FOR IRRIGATION.
THIS IS THE STATE OF OUR WATER AND RESOURCE ACCUMULATION AND MANAGEMENT 60 YEARS AFTER INDEPENDENCE. WHERE IS THE PROPER INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENTS IN ALL ASPECTS IN THE COUNTRY OTHER THAN ENDLESS ROADS, PORTS WITHOUT SHIPS,TOURISM WITHOUT ELEPHANTS AND DEVELOPMENTS WITHOUT PROPER PLAN, TARGETS AND ACHIEVEMENTS.
CJ is more suitable to carry on with her current position and could countribute to the country to help get rid of mass corruptors, thugs, murderers and power hungry lunatics in the parliament…..No more Presidents or Rajanos please.
Also she could contribute to change the Constitution to get rid of Draconian 18th amendment, Grass hopper jumpers from one to another party, 10% and more corruption contracts, minimum qualifications such as at atleast a bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification to be an MP, representation of all the communities and relegious personnel to all Govt and state sector jobs, not a one finance minister… but a Finance and a Budget committee. etc…etc..

Then what’s the other Ministers who are involved in all these ministries do…….. except to get a leftover commission……from above.
