We Don’t Want To Remove Wigneswaran: Suresh Premachandran

Calls by Parliamentarian M.A. Sumanthiran to remove C.V. Wigneswaran from the Tamil National Alliance and the post of the Northern Province Chief Minister is the opinion of one individual and not that of the entire party, Suresh Premachandran said.

 Suresh Premachandran

Suresh Premachandran

In fact, Premachnadran noted that both the TNA and the people of the north fully backed Wigneswaran.

Premachandran however went on to say that Wigneswaran too should be mindful that he was elected to the coveted post as a representative of the party and not as an individual candidate.

A group of Sri Lankan Tamils in Australia recently had protested against Sumanthiran while he was visiting the country, accusing the TNA parliamentarian of betraying the struggle of Tamil political prisoners and the Tamil people in general.

The Tamil diaspora also had severely criticised Sumanthiran for backing the domestic mechanism proposed by the government to investigate war crimes during the war.

Premachandran said he too had come to know about the protests against Sumanthiran and also about an interview given by Sumanthiran to foreign media where he had said that Wigneswaran should be removed

However Premachandran said that he had no knowledge about a proposal made to ITAK calling for the removal of Northern Province Chief Minister C.V. Wigneswaran from the TNA.

Premachandran said that all affiliated parties in the TNA had invited Wigneswaran to be the chief ministerial candidate of the party and any decision on removing him too should be taken in concurrence with all the parties.

He said that the matter would be taken up for discussion during a TNA leaders meeting which is to be convened shortly.

We as observers of this saga, we also don’t want him to remove. He must act the same as today and in the future like this for the sake of all Northern voters, who vote for him. Then only they realize how ineffective his approach is. They must keep him for long time! However , it s up to the voters.

It is the people of the North who elected CM C.V.WIgneswaran and it is not clear why there are reports in the media these days about Sumanthran having said in down under Australia that he would be removed.
But today I saw a news item attributed to TNA leader Sambanthan as saying that there is no move to remove CVW while another leader Suresh Premachandran who has not much love for Sumanthiran has been reported as confirming what Sambanthan had said.
What could be happening in the NPC is a jostle taking place within the ITAK and the TNA for the second in line post of CM, and besides that there has been an agitation of sorts recently by the opposition section of the NPC for higher salaries and perks and Speaker of the NPC is known to be tactically working behind the scene under the shadow of DD.

Not only the wacko Wigneswaran, Suresh Premachandran too should be kicked out of the TNA. In fact Premachandran should be charged with war crimes for running the death squad, Mandayan Group, when EPRLF was dominating the northeast during IPKF time.

Suresh Premachandran had already been removed from politics by the voters. Under the new govt in Canada, he may join his wife and children in Canada soon being accepted despite his inadmissibility to enter Canada for his past terrorist activities. Who is he now to tell us that CVW should not be removed.

        Arun,

“Under the new govt in Canada, he may join his wife and children in Canada soon being accepted despite his inadmissibility to enter Canada for his past terrorist activities.”

Where can I find the details on why Canada does not allow him in? Is the information available on Right to Information Act or similar in Canada?

      Off The Wall,

“Suresh Premachandran too should be kicked out of the TNA.”

The voters rejected him already. Don’t think that there is much left of his party.

“In fact Premachandran should be charged with war crimes for running the death squad, Mandayan Group, when EPRLF was dominating the northeast during IPKF time.”

Was not the EPRLF the first Tamil armed group to recruit children during the IPKF time? What was the role of Suresh in that?

Sumanthiran stated his personnel position.you have the right for talk about your position.how ever you MANDIAN AND MADAM ANATHI from the right beginning were working together to damage the image of sumanthiran.you lost your position in the last election because of this type of activity.like the old tamil proverb PLEASE DONT POUR OIL IN BURNING FIRE.what tamils needs right now is unity.JUSTICE VICKNESWARAN KNOWS HOW TO SAFE GUARD HIS POSTION.he does not needs your two cents.

Suresh Aiya is and will continue to make noises all of which only mean “Do not forget me, Do not forget me, I am still here and want to get a perks place again” He will of course say all this in Tamil.

If he had his earlier pals he will find a way of finishing off sumaanthiran.

The problem is Sum’n does not sing the only tunes these fellows know – traitor, eelam, genocide etc. They are one track minds for whom politics only means free meals by stirring any pot.

The correct response to this character is not to notice him. He is now trying to hitch his wagon to Wiggs who shld take care of the people who rush to “defend” him.

It is not that Wigneswaran who should go out of the party and position of Chief Minister but it should be Sambanthan and Sumanthiran who had been on several times acted against the wishes of the party members and the Tamil public as a whole. Both should resign from the party and as members of parliament. There are few TNA members inclusive Mavai Senathirajah, obtained funds from Ranil Wickremasinghe in the name of development whereas that funds should have been allocated to the Provincial council. Ranil crafted a split in the TNA party between Wigneswaran and TNA members and the TNA members fell for it. When Wigneswaran questioned it , there was no proper answer. Those members should have been sacked from the party long ago. There cannot be one rule for one and another for others. Sumanthiran and Sambanthan aligning with the government against the wishes of the people who voted for them should go out.

Yuppie Sumanthiran fell off a rotten tree while there was calamity and grew/came to the top but the tree has no wisdom about authority.
He has no class while wiggie made history to have a English PM relative of Queen come down to see him.

Mr. Raa Sampanthan Leader of TNA and opposition leader should reign in
both Mr. Sumanthiran & Mr. Wigneswaran as this is not the time for in
fighting. One trying to show the other that he knows better than the other as to what is to be done for the Tamils. Ego should not play a part at this time as this is the right opportunity to get the Tamil
demands sorted by dialogue with a moderate govt.in power. People should shun people who are trouble makers, like Ananda Sangaree,Ananthi,
Sivagilingam & to a certain extend ,Mr Wigneswaran as he wants to jump seniority and be the leader of the Tamil, overnight, in view of Mr. Sampanthan’s age and his health conditions. He should await his chance as he is junior in service among the TNA stalwarts, who are, individually
experienced enough in politics to handle the leadership.

TNA has become a household name among the Tamils and why is the delay
in amalgamating it into one party. Almost an year has passed after formation of the current Govt. and no tangible results were achieved yet for the Tamils. Everything is half done., while the Muslim MPs have
done a wise thing by joining the govt. and solved most problems in full
for the Muslims. Wiggy and Sumanthiran are valuable assets to TNA and the Tamils and Mr. Sampanthan should see that there is unity among
    the party members.
Govt. adopts a ‘Heming Heming’ approach to solve the Tamils problems by keeping the majority satisfied as anti communalist forces are waiting like hawks to create communal tension in the country. This is
a good move by the govt.,which is trustworthy and this is what M/S
Sumanthiran & Sambanthan favor but Wiggy wants matters expedited and go by the books, which could antagonize the govt. and the majority people and we may have to go back to square one if force is used. TNA must make their presence felt by the Govt.at all times.

We hope TNA will make some sensible moves in the all important meeting to be held soon.

Readers comments here and the diametrically opposed positions of Sumanthiran, Suresh and others only go out to show the sharp divisions within the Tamil Nation. Justice Wigneswaren remains a good man and is pulled hither and thither by various factions – LTTE factions within and the diaspora being the more strident. The remarkable mandate Wigneswaren received remains. However, he has to be careful about some of the tainted and controversial “aides” around him whose public perception is extremely poor.

This is no time for the leaders in the Tamil Nation to openly quarrel.
There is much that can be secured from the government if we maintain
unity and harmony in approach to our difficult questions. The release of the young men incarcerated unjustly and for long poses problems also for the Govt. Patience is required for Sampanthan and friends to have them released, have the Tamil areas developed and re-settle the many thousands now living in misery. The bull-in-a-china shop attitude of
Ananthi, Shivajilingam and company will do more harm than good.
It is best we allow Sampanthan to do his work ably supported by Sumanthiran and Wigneswaren. They have done admirably well so far.

Chief Minister C.V. Wigneswaran would have seen, met and dealt with more criminals in his entire legal career than all our fellow forum sharers put together have in our entire life. There is still some hope.

Sumanthiran is a smart articulate up and coming politician, there is no reason to believe that he not honest or that he does not have the best interest of the Tamils at heart.
Politics is also a popularity contest and Sumanthiran is popular more among the non Tamils than the Tamils on the other hand Wigneswaran left his Col life which in itself is a sacrifice and the peace of retirement to live among the oppressed and work for them. People in the South might hate him but people in N/E love him and TNA has no intention of contesting in the S/W so it better not push its luck.

Like the way you admire the `bourgeois Suma`
He played `I love you` Ranil with his traversity of trawler fishing and other matters but he said he wasn’t allowed to speak in Sinhala etc. etc.
A naive upstart who crept to Colombo 7 that he did not anticipate the `donkey buruva` can only dish out dung.

However when Wiggie spoke to Sirisena at Killi in Sinhala it was sweet music- there were no minorities but communities. He is the old oak tree that can be a bamboo when the wind blows.

Your problem is you folk killed the diplomats and expect mediocre to deliver. If that was the case then KP Karuna etc would have delivered because of their good offices with President.

Suma would Deliver what but Dung like the Irish.

You never seen GG Ponnambalam QC speak- that was a class debtor of Ceylon standard.
Not Suma trying to carry the female CJ back but lost.

In my opinion Sumanthiran overstepped his limits in this matter. Chief Minister Wigneswaran had nothing wrong in terms of Tamils struggle. He has not violated the principles of TNA. Sri Lanka Government have not moved a single step towards solving the Tamil Nation Question or alleviating suffering of the Tamils or justice to the victims of war. Everything is on talk but not in reality.

Suresh a thug morphed in to a parlimentarian, what do you mean by “we dont want to remove…”

what right you have to remove him?
he was democratically elected and he can be removed by the same democratic process.

it seems to me that the thug in you is giving him veiled warning!

This, I guess has nothing to do with Aaihithian having a go at our Vellalar bosses and exposing them as just fakes, and not the real deal.

But calling them just Passers is a bit mean.. Right.

I would have put it as “Bracket Creepers” which would have gone down a bit better with the Diaspora Vellalas .

Most of them still practice the same old Vedic social customs, even in the West where some of them are in the same Tax Bracket as the non Vellalas.

Did Abraham say local courts are ok?.

If he did, I might even vote for him if he contests from Vellala Gardens.I should say Colombo 6. after Aaihithian’s caste analysis.

We know Wiggy is not a Bracket Creeper..So is Abraham.

They are different because Wiggy adopted Tiger Doctrine and appropriately praising its Leader Pirahaparan , soon after he was sworn in.

Abraham who is Colombo Born and Bred is more new generation, who probably believe in making ways to allow even the great majority of the inhabitants to bracket Creep and get into the Elite caste, because we don’t have a Vellala bracket.

Abraham perhaps should join the new “Joint Opposition”.

And he has a good chance of being even the PM going forward.

As far as Prema is concerned, don’t they say Tigers never change their Stripes…

Ha ha Ha Colombo has seen better debating teams than your abhram tank born at jaffna and bred at colombo 3 like Vasu Vasi.
He is no more of a lefty school teacher like Barack Obama.

Want him take him like your second KP or Karuna etc all for free to propagate the tiger in the fire.

The real issue is too many politicians with different labels doing the same job among the same people in the same enclave. No wonder they are stepping onto each others toes. These short sighted politicians should realise they will gain more by making unified efforts than being subsumed by personality cults.

This Sumanthirn as well as Premachandran are well adviced to keep their disagreements to the board rooms and not look stupid spitting it out into the public domain. When there is so much to be done to uplift the war ravaged down and out Tamils these silly leaders are engaging in utterly useless and often self destructive infights to uselessly prove I am better than the other.

Chief Minister Wigneswaran and his team.should perform and struggle to perform or go. Let him inform us what he and his team have achieved in the years he had been in office, except grandstanding and creating dissention. What had he done on the Chunnakam water pollution issue?

Suresh Premachandran is one of the burdens besetting Tamil politics and represents the worst manifestations of it. He has been rejected by the people and should learn the right lessons from it.

    Suresh,

“In fact, Premachnadran noted that both the TNA and the people of the north fully backed Wigneswaran.”

Based on what do you make this claim?

You seem to often forget that you no longer are the spokesman of the TNA and no longer are a member of parliament.

I don’t know how much your opinion as the leader of the EPRLF counts.

Feel free to represent your party but don’t speak for the others.
