SLPP politico – Wennappuwa Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman Susantha Perera is under fire for his move to temporarily ban Muslim vendors from doing business at the Dankotuwa weekly fair. The Marawila Magistrate has issued notice on Perera to appear before Magistrate Court on Friday to show cause, failing which, he would face action for inciting racial hatred.
In a commendable move,the Police had taken prompt action to immediately lift the ban and assure about the dozens of Muslim vendors the ban won’t affect their business activities.
Perera issued a letter on Monday (24) imposing a temporary prohibition on Muslim vendors at the Dankotuwa weekly fair from doing business, stating the decision was made in the interest of ‘preserving peace’ after Easter attacks.

By taking it to courts, you are angering several UNP Sinhalese who want to curb Islamic nonsense. Why no action was taken against several Muslims who have been making hate statements. If UNP wants to bend backwards to please Muslims for their votes, then more number of Sinhalese and Tamils are going to desert UNP, giving pohotuwa an easy victory. Mano Ganesan has already warned UNP in the cabinet meeting not to try to cheat Tamils, and they will not tolerate it for long.
