“With A Little Political Backing We Can End The Rise Of Muslims”, Gnanasara Who Wishes To Emulate Prabhakaran Declares

Controversial Buddhist Monk Galagoda Atte Gnanasara of the Bodu Bala Sena (BBS) has declared that if he and his group had a ‘little’ political backing then they can end the rise of the Muslims in the country.

Speaking at an event recently in Korea where he addressed the Sri Lankans living there, Gnanasara also revealed how he systematically devised a successful plan to virtually destroy and abandon a Muslim town in Kuliyapitiya. “Sometimes, I feel like taking a T-56 and do what Prabhakaran did, but I can’t do it because I am in robes,” he said.

“We have more than 6000 to 7000 of our women who have converted to Islam after marrying Muslims. When we marry a Tamil or someone else we don’t get them to change their names, but when a Muslim fellow marries one of our women, then she is forced to become a Fathima and all the babies become Mohammeds. We must stop this,” he said.

Gnanasara said that this was a dangerous trend. “Our politicians are only greedy for power, they are ready to sacrifice for the party but not ready to do anything for the country. If these politicians only gave us a little backing we can end the rise of the Muslims,” he said.

Speaking further he said that there was a Muslim town which was located amongst Sinhalese villages. “But we systematically devised a plan over a year and today it is infested only with flies, no one else goes there,” a laughing Gnanasara said.

Elaborating further he said that the Muslim town was well off because the people in the town had money and they tried to take ownership of a playground in the area. “From the Sinhala village, a few old ladies had gone to sell their vegetable crop to a Muslim Mudalali in the town, but the Muslim Mudalali refused to buy saying that because they were not given the playground, the mosque had ordered them not to buy anything from the Sinhalese. These old women threw the vegetables onto the floor and then they and the others got together and started their offensive,” he said.

According to Gnanasara, today the Muslim town is absolutely abandoned. “There are now about 6 to 7 new shops owned by Sinhalese and the Muslim town is only infested with flies,” a very pleased Gnanasara said.

I thought Sinhala nationalists would be grateful to Muslims for collaborating with them to defeat Tamil freedom fighters. Sinhalese should be thankful to the terrorist state of Pakistan for helping them defeat LTTE. In exchange for the help, they should allow Pakistan to build more madrases and spread Wahhabism.

Crimials of diverse kind are raising their heads in a rapid manner as no times before, since the lawmakers stay indifferent. Rigorous law enforcement is timeworthy to shape up these criminals.
If they have their kind of desires to live up their violent fantasies, they have to but not hidden behind the Sanga costumes.

We the human being judge about personlities by studying them for a long period, this man Ghansara has all high criminal records alone during the last 15 years. He should have been gone thorugh an aggresive childhood to turn out to be what he is today. Not even Dehiwala Zoo Gorilla would become like him, not being able to control himself, so why and what is his purpose of being a monk ?

Previous regime s inability to crush the bud at that level, have allowed them to become giant vocals to this day. People have been animated by various manner.. thorugh melodized reciting, bana or the like that they believe will be easy in capturing more easy targets.

Wimal Buruwanse is doing by his manner, while Ghanasara has used it being behind robes. Outreach is massive. THIS COUNTRY IS FILLED WITH INNOCIENT PEOPLE: Most of them are kept away from real facts about the life and ground realities for them.

If anyone would be questioned about the likes- over 80% of the nation would reject violent BBS since their mission can only damage the country s buddhism in a very manner that average monks would not be offered daily meals with cost of living rise to sky high prices.

People never give this kind men a chance again. Never forget the way they treated Aluthgama people 2.5 years ago. Rajakapshe or anyone failed to leave a constructive argument as to why that public statements provocatively passed by this BBS head in Aluthgama before the riots. Even today, the law and order men stay mum…. this is the rreality for the victimized people of this country.

We the born buddhists must not allow BBS or any other radical extremeists to represent us to the world. Lanken buddhism is caught by various kind of deceitful abusive men and women.

I am not in favour of his strategies. The Thero has always been spewing forth vindictive speech and acts against all minorities. After all this is a multi racial, multi religious and multi ethnic country, and has been so for centuries.
But the minorities must also do their bit by learning to live in harmony with the majority. It is ONLY when they try to act in contradiction to such a principles (living in harmony with all) and endeavour to usurp the status quo that radicals like this Thero speak venom. Odd balls will scream and shout but as long as it is contained there is no harm done, and cannot be helped.

Having said that, there is also a role for the majority to play in that they must not”throw their weight” around and antagonize the minority, provoking them to undrest.

The GOVT and the Law enforcement authorities also have a duty by the whole population to ensure that there is peace and tranquility in the Country and NOT be biased in their enforcement. A tough call ,but that is the requirement.
In this day and age is it a UTOPIA I am calling for (sic)

As a Muslim, I understand your concern. But what do we do when a Buddhist girl decides to convert to Islam, and she decides to take the risk of alienating her family and friends, out of her own free will. It becomes the duty of all Muslim brothers and sisters to get involved to make them feel welcome, as they are now one of us. They will provide support and assistance to them until they can cope with their new situation. After converting if they find themselves over burdened by practice of Islam, they are free to return back to whichever religion they converted from. The freedom of choice in religion must be fair to all, and that right be guaranteed in the Constitution. It can also work the other way as well. If the religious practices are of benefit to the adherents, why should it bother Gnanasara nor anyone else? This is clearly his game of playing into the monk hegemony.

      Why Convert her ?

In Indonesia Muslims marry Hindus,Christians and Buddhists but the practice their own religion separately and live under same roof.

Truth is Sinhala girls working at Muslims enterprises are being brain washed and Saudi Money is their to cheat them .There is a propaganda if a person embrace Islam he / she will go to heaven.

Where is this heaven ? How to go there by Airbus or Boeing .

Religion is an individual right you can’t force a person to convert simply to marry a Muslims.

This is not 4th century this is why liquor is flowing inside all Middle East airlines don’t you have backbone to stop ?

Majority of Air Hostesses are non muslims ..this is not Haram?

How can a Muslim accept food served by an infidel ?

There should be a law to stop this stone age practice.

When it comes to interfaith marriage in Islam, particularly in regards to Marriage of Muslim men to non-Muslim women.

Islamic marriage rules between Muslim men and non-Muslim women are regulated by Islamic principles. There are restrictions to whom a Muslim man can marry. Muslim men are forbidden from marrying polytheist women. A polytheist woman would have to convert to Islam if she would want to get married to a Muslim man, according to Islamic principles.

Marriage of Muslim women to non-Muslim men
        (See verse 60:10 below)

Muslim women are forbidden from marrying non-Muslim men according to Islamic law. All major groups of Muslims have forbidden Muslim women from marrying non-Muslim men. According to some, this prohibition serves to preserve the Islamic faith from dilution and expand it, within societies which are patriarchal but multi-faith. It effectively ensures that over many generations, providing that the society is patrilineal, Islam would naturally gain in adherents relative to other co-existing religions, through its ability to secure the adherence of all offspring from mixed marriages. In effect, all children of any mixed-marriages involving Muslims are guaranteed to be raised as Muslim. This systemic method of expanding the Muslim community in any multi-religious society is assisted by the ability for Muslim men to marry more than one non-Muslim wife (a possibility usually not available to non-Muslim men) and therefore secure all of their offspring for the Islamic faith – provided that the society acknowledges a patrilineal religious system in which only the father’s religion is passed down. There also exists a minority view that does permit women who have converted to Islam to remain with non-Muslim spouses as an exception to the general rule. This minority view is however restricted to converted women only.

Conversion to Islam of one spouse in a non-Muslim marriage. Under Islamic law, if a non-Muslim woman is married to a non-Muslim, and she converts to Islam, the marriage is suspended until her husband converts to Islam. She could, in theory, leave the non-Muslim husband and marry a Muslim one. If the non-Muslim husband does convert a new marriage is not needed.

In the Quran, it is said,

        O ye who believe! When there come to you believing women refugees, examine (and test) them: Allah knows best as to their Faith: if ye ascertain that they are Believers, then send them not back to the Unbelievers. They are not lawful (wives) for the Unbelievers, nor are the (Unbelievers) lawful (husbands) for them. But pay the Unbelievers what they have spent (on their dower), and there will be no blame on you if ye marry them on payment of their dower to them. But hold not to the guardianship of unbelieving women: ask for what ye have spent on their dowers, and let the (Unbelievers) ask for what they have spent (on the dowers of women who come over to you). Such is the command of Allah. He judges (with justice) between you. And Allah is Full of Knowledge and Wisdom. {Surah 60:10}

In Modern practice, many Arab countries allowed interfaith marriage to Christian or Jewish women but not to non-Muslim men. In Lebanon for example there is no civil personal status law and marriages are performed according to the religion of the spouses. There, Muslim women cannot marry non-Muslim men, whereas this is possible vice versa, at least if the spouse is a Christian or Jewish woman. Turkey allows marriages to non-Muslim men through secular laws. In Malaysia a non-Muslim must convert to Islam in order to marry a Muslim. The offspring of such unions are automatically Muslims and all Malaysian Muslims are legally prohibited from leaving Islam.

Interfaith marriage especially between Hindus and Muslims often have been the bone of contention and have resulted in communal riots in India. Love Jihad, also called Romeo Jihad, widely regarded as a conspiracy theory, is an alleged activity under which young Muslim boys and men are said to reportedly target young girls belonging to non-Muslim communities for conversion to Islam by feigning love. Official investigations in Uttar Pradesh had found no credence in allegations of Love Jihad that had been brought before them, with state police chief A.L. Banerjee stating that, “In most cases we found that a Hindu girl and Muslim boy were in love and had married against the will of their parents’.

“Islamic marriage rules between Muslim men and non-Muslim women are regulated by Islamic principles””

Law is a gentlemen agreement and its value is only the paper its written on.
In the history of the world
No treaty has ever been maintained by Muslims since it’s inception – once muslim was sent back by western kings under treaty- law is there is no God but Allah.

So the muslim married and converted the non muslim So that he may go to Heaven- the pharaohs are still in a queue to go to heaven-

If there is such a thing then show us the evidence with facts, figures and first hand information. Muslims try to live their lives according to Islam and always strive to become better Muslims. It s just that we have born Buddhists in the country that would do anything and everything for even a rice packet. Politicians such as Rajakapskehs and WImal Buruwas abuse them as human shields. Above all Sangayas behave as if they have no heads- just let abuse by greedi politicians such as Rajapakshes.

Just tell me as to why Rajakapkshe focus Temple premises to send his public messages out :

His motive is to outreach all the gulliable that would stay indifferent but being that gawky and gulliable letting anyone to abuse them.

You have got it so wrong! I am a Muslim and my wife is a practicing Buddhist. No, neither I or my family has ever tried to convert her! And no, we are not from Wanathamulla or other shanty so I am man enough to stand up against any communal element that could even remotely dictate terms to her or myself! And no, no one in the community has tried anything funny either! And I, served the country honorably unlike fat ass Boorusara so no one even in the other communities dares lift a finger. So guys, to heck with this thug priest; let us get on with our lives.

Not all your assumptions of Muslims nor stereotypes nor rumours are necessarily true. Let us be steadfast in these trying times and build a prosperous nation or else history will repeat itself and repeal us! I mean we will have the next invader lining up on our shores. The sad thing is it does not happen the old fashioned way so us arrogant dimwits would not know the difference between the previous squint eyed ones to the corn fed ones!!!

Gnanasara boasts and pokes fun about a lesson the Sinhala people of Kuliyapitiya taught the Muslim businessman in the area, thru a collective effort to put him him out of business. If what he says is true, he fails to realize that what happened to one man is surely not going to affect a whole community of people. As Muslims, we believe that what we earn is what is allocated to us by God Almighty. Nothing more, nothing less. It is not the end of the world to lose business. We come into this world with our own destiny, and can change it only through patience, perseverance, prayers and regular charity. If one door is closed, many new doors of opportunities will open. What we see in this video is clearly the mindset of a racist working overtime, combined with pure jealousy at the success of Muslims in business. It is a good thing that a majority of the Sinhala Buddhist people don’t approve of this mans bigotry.

SF, you must be an uneducated moron with intelligence of a piece of a toast bread. I am not a muslim but I have to put a stop to this kind of idiocracy. The islamic culture was very rich and very innovative. Just think of ´”numbers” or the cultural diversity they brought to the southspanish part of asia or the mogul architecture? The medical inventions and innovations in the old city of Isfahan in present day Iran or the Osmanian empire? that at present day some fractions of Islamists or fundamentalists terrorize the world does not mean that all muslims are of such callibre. Should I say then, that all Singhalese are racists and radicals like this BBS idiot?

“Any Muslim scientist in the world?”

When I last checked Nobel Laureate Mohammad Abdus Salam (Pakistani, Abdul Kalam, …. were Muslims until there death.

There had been thousands of Muslim scientists, philosophers, poets, physicists, engineers, mathematicians, mariners, travelers, geographers, chemists, astronomers, ………………….

Please pull your head where it is now and google “List of Muslim scientists”, and you will be surprised.

        Native Vedda:

Abdus Salam was educated at Cambridge. There is no Islamic country that can provide that kind of training. SF is correct; there is a wide GAP between Islam and science, in fact, between Islam and the modern world. Watch some videos of Pervez Hoodbhoy on Youtube; he explains why Islam is not progressive, especially compared to it’s neighbor, India.

“There had been thousands of Muslim scientists, philosophers, poets, physicists, engineers, mathematicians, mariners, travelers, geographers, chemists, astronomers”

Most of these were Persian (Iranian). Persians were originally Zoroastrian, not Muslim. That is why Iran is so advanced compared to all of it’s Arabs neighbors, in fact, compared to the entire Middle East, not including Israel. Iran built a nuclear bomb while Saudi Arabia put a guy in space by giving him a place in an American spaceship! Saudis are so stupid, they couldn’t build their own rocket.

SF, I am Sinhala Buddhist. You position is erroneous.Arabs invented Mathematics,Distillation, I think astronomy. The University at Alexandria was a well stacked centre of knowledge.it was sacked by Christian prince. The Indians invented the Zero, astrology and many more things.Tell me anything that we the Sinhalese Buddhista had invented. The large dagabas and the canal system which we boast of, I suspect, was created by Indian Hindu labour. If it is not so, these things, mostly the canal system should exist in the South especially in the SE section of the country.

        Sinhala Puddhu,
        Heard of Greek mathematician Pythagoras (c. 570 – c. 495 BC),
During the Golden Age of Islam, especially during the 9th and 10th centuries, mathematics saw many important innovations building on Greek mathematics: most of them include the contributions from Persian mathematicians such as Al-Khwarismi, Omar Khayyam and Sharaf al-Dīn al-Ṭūsī.
The word mathematics comes from the Greek μάθημα (máthēma), which, in the ancient Greek language, means “that which is learnt”,[23] “what one gets to know”, hence also “study” and “science”, and in modern Greek just “lesson”. The word máthēma is derived from μανθάνω (manthano), while the modern Greek equivalent is μαθαίνω (mathaino), both of which mean “to learn”. In Greece, the word for “mathematics” came to have the narrower and more technical meaning “mathematical study” even in Classical times.[24] Its adjective is μαθηματικός (mathēmatikós), meaning “related to learning” or “studious”, which likewise further came to mean “mathematical”. In particular, μαθηματικὴ τέχνη (mathēmatikḗ tékhnē), Latin: ars mathematica, meant “the mathematical art”.

Muslim could never have `created`- “that which is learnt-mathmatics” not invented because they count their fingers like and add up to 9 – they never knew `OM` to understand Zero.
They thought the world was flat because they never knew maths but counted `Loot` arithmetic and kept the commission of 1 in their pocket- 50% of Lankan business is held by them – buy and sell.

        *****
Aristotle wrote about the process in his Meteorologica and even that “ordinary wine possesses a kind of exhalation, and that is why it gives out a flame”.[5] Later evidence of distillation comes from Greek alchemists working in Alexandria in the 1st century AD.[6] Distilled water has been known since at least c. 200, when Alexander of Aphrodisias described the process.[7] Distillation in China could have begun during the Eastern Han Dynasty (1st–2nd centuries), but archaeological evidence indicates that actual distillation of beverages began in the Jin and Southern Song dynasties.[8] A still was found in an archaeological site in Qinglong, Hebei province dating to the 12th century. Distilled beverages were more common during the Yuan dynasty.[8] Arabs learned the process from the Alexandrians and used it extensively in their chemical experiments.

Actual you are more marrakala like JR not Sinhalese.

I find it difficult to see why Gnanasara Thera is still in robes. He expects people to respect him yet his behaviour is not that of a cleric. He is known to drink alcohol, womanise, indulge in thuggery and certainly a pathological liar. All his yarns had been to incite hatred of one religion or another. I will not be surprised if he is a paedophile as well given the number of young boys going into priesthood and his eagerness to remain a priest. Gnanasara Thera must lament the demise of LTTE and Prabhakaran as he was able to wield his power and authority through his congregations fears

If you listen to the video, Gnanasara is praising Prabakaran as the only leader in the entire world who was able to hold on to his organization without breaking for more than 30 years and he himself wants to be like Prabakaran. If not for the saffron robe, he says he is ready to take the T56. He is also talking good about the Tamils and bad about the Muslims. This itself proves that he is funded by Norway and the LTTE Diaspora in the West. The only thing he is lacking now is a little bit of political support which he received during the last regime from Gota.

The hate speeches & anti-muslim stand of this goon Gnanasara & his clan is to be condemned downright. Yet the cooking up of stories by people like you is also to be denounced. It had been clear that the LTTE & their supporters have primarily anti-Sinhala establishment & additionally anything else that comes in their, including Muslims and Tamils who don’t endorse their ways. Why should the LTTE diaspora support a rabidly hateful Sinhala “Buddhist Monk”. Another story concocted by some SL Muslims is that T M Dilshan, the cricketer who recently retired, converted from Islam to Buddhism because he was offered a large sum of money and assured a place in the team, which I a blatant lie. To challenge guys like Gnanasara, sl Muslims should stop concocting false stories but stick to facts.

“He is also talking good about the Tamils”

Then why did he say this?
“At a rally in 2012, the B.B.S. leader Mr. Gnanasara likened the Sri Lankan military’s victory to the ancient conquest of a Tamil chief by a beloved Sinhalese king. The spectators knew the story and cheered at the comparison. “Tamils have been taught a lesson twice,” he said; so would other minorities if they tried to “challenge Sri Lankan culture.””
      http://www.nytimes.com/2015/01/03/opinion/sri-lankas-violent-buddhists.html

“This itself proves that he is funded by Norway and the LTTE Diaspora in the West”

“This itself proves that he is funded by Norway and the LTTE Diaspora in the West.”

Now read Maj. Gen. Kamal Gunaratne’s interview published not so long ago:

[I even don’t think that the LTTE will make a comeback with the same magnitude as Prabhakaran, who was an equally committed, dedicated, disciplined and ruthless terrorist leader, is no more.

He may have been uneducated but he maintained strict discipline among himself and also within the outfit. He is the man who showed the art of suicide bombing. Before Al Qaeda’s first suicide bomber, Prabhakaran had over 200 suicide bombers in the LTTE. Most of the suicide cadres were females and were ready to sacrifice their lives at the command of their leader. There is no evidence to show that he abused those female cadres in the LTTE.

He was a loving family man. The SLA recovered over 10,000 photographs of Prabhakaran, his family and LTTE functions but we never found a picture of Prabhakaran with a glass of alcohol. He was a disciplined leader and he maintained a law deadlier than Sharia law. If you steal, you lose your hand under Sharia law, but under Prabhakaran’s law you lose your life. Although he was a Hindu, he never believed in God. Once he said that God was there for the powerful countries. He was a different kind of a man and he had some good characteristics for someone to learn.

He was a firm decision maker. Whether the decision was right or wrong, he didn’t care and once a decision was taken, then it was implemented. Killing Indian Premier Rajiv Gandhi was among the most unwise decisions he had ever made. By killing Gandhi, he knew that India in its entirety and the world would come against him but still he wanted to take revenge from India for deploying the IPKF in Sri Lanka to crush the LTTE. So he killed him because he was ruthless. He had lots of patience and he was not hurry in his missions and waited for the right moment to strike.]

Now tell us is Maj. Gen. Kamal Gunaratne being “funded by Norway and the LTTE Diaspora in the West”?

Cholan, in your haste to denigrate Islam and Muslims, you always keep missing the point. In all of those instances quoted, you fail to realize that those are acts of individuals and not out of the teachings pertaining to Islam. There are certainly good intentioned people, and certainly those who blatantly ignore religion, who are self serving with only their own self interests at hand, in any form of society. You cannot blame any religion for what individuals do to fulfill their own agenda. Religion plays no part in their lives, only in name.

You need to understand Islam in its correct perspective, in its pristine form, and then you will realize that there are Muslims in the world who shun interest money, however tempting it is to take and spend of it.

There are many Muslim men in the world today who can afford, marrying two or more wives and provide a secure and worthy life for them, but still they prefer living with just one.

What has the world got to offer to the matter of rampant alcoholism and drug abuse, whereas Islam insists total abstention from from consuming all forms of addictive and intoxicating substances. Presently, we have major issues with such issues in our own country and around the world. No solution.

Muslim women the world over, sacrifice a lot to adhere to Islamic dress code. Whereas if they want, they can just as easily ignore all of the teachings and dress as they please, to attract mens attention on themselves. What prevents them from going that route?

Why do Muslims abstain from living on interest money. Taking and giving money on interest, both are considered equally bad, and although the temptation and greed for money is always there, their religion comes first before everything else. Now can anyone else emulate that?

I can go on and on expounding on various aspects of life based on Islamic virtues, starting from a Muslims birth until death, their life from the the moment they wake up in the morning until bed time at night. Every intention, every action is guided by principals and teachings of their monotheistic faith, Islam. Whilst here you are trying to discredit certain Muslim individuals, who are not the ideal ambassadors of Islam. I don’t blame them either, as they have been deprived of real and true information.

Muslims women follow dress code all over the world ..no more in Europe now there is ban on covering do you know ..these women can be thrown in prison.

Muslims abstain from accepting interest but love to accept commission and bribes including your Arab banks islam allow this so this is a twist from interest to commission.Wow

Go and see in Malaysia and Maldives highest number of drug users are Muslims specially women ..highest number of teen age pregnancy are Muslims ..bars are flu with malay girls still Islam is predominant religion .

Prostitution is rampent in islands in Maldives unmarried girls having sex with muslim men is part of their culture .

Do you know how Kuwait,Moroccan,Tunis ,Algerian girls dress and behave ? Now even blue films are made there ?Are these countries not Islamic ?

Truth is 4th century religion copied from Torah and Bible is outdated for todays world.

Allah ???? this is an arab word for God ..all religion say God created this world ..don `t give lecture.

First let these muslims duty about other religions they they know where they are standing .

Muslims wanted to eliminate all others in Srilanka by any means and want to make it as a Muslim country. They had started wit the killing of Tamils in Amparai District. They made it in such as way it was done by Army and Army and Village army.
In addition to that they made use of the conflict between Tamil and Sinhalese to kill more and more Tamil using the Army.
Now their next activity is colonization programme. A rich man buys two or three houses and rent to it MUslims. Housing schemes by Rishad is used to create new villages. People from Village like Kattankudy go and get settled in those villages.
In Vavuniya – Mannar area they had made three or four villages where there are many empty houses still to be occupied by Muslims.
If Sinhalese are divided as Mahinda & Maithre groups Muslims votes and support of MPs became very important to decide the government. That is why people like Rashid was given very important Ministries in both government. First Sinhalese please get united and support either of one. Then plan against this type of colonization process of Muslims. Otherwise they will take over the country very soon. Regretting

The monk is correct. If too many people convert to Islam, there will be major issues for the country. In fact, it will be the end of the country as we know it. That is why Tamils and Sinhalese must stick together and stand against this much bigger threat. Not all Muslims are radical, but they cannot oppose “jihad” (holy war), since it is a religious duty. That is why Turkey let thousands of people cross its border to join ISIS and Saudi Arabia/Qatar/Bahrain supplied terrorists in Syria with weapons and money.

    • 2
      3

‘Jihad’ is clearly a Misunderstood Concept from Islam – What Jihad is, and is not is explained below.

      WHAT JIHAD IS

The Arabic word “jihad” is often translated as “holy war,” but in a purely linguistic sense, the word ” jihad” means struggling or striving, at a personal level.

The correct Arabic word for war is: “al-harb”.

In a religious sense, as described by the Quran and teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (sal.), “jihad” has many meanings. It can refer to internal as well as external efforts to be a good Muslims or believer, as well as working to inform or teach people about the true faith of Islam.

If military jihad is required to protect the faith against others, it can be performed using anything from legal, diplomatic and economic to political means. If there is no peaceful alternative, Islam also allows the use of force, but there are strict rules of engagement. Innocents – such as women, children, or invalids – must never be harmed, and any peaceful overtures from the enemy must be accepted.

Military action is therefore only one means of jihad, and is very rare. To highlight this point, the Prophet Mohammed (Sal.) told his followers returning from a military campaign: “This day we have returned from the minor jihad to the major jihad,” which he said meant returning from armed battle to the peaceful battle for self-control and betterment.

In case military action appears necessary, not everyone can declare jihad. The religious military campaign has to be declared by a proper authority, advised by scholars, who say the religion and people are under threat and violence is imperative to defend them. The concept of “just war” is very important.

The concept of jihad has been hijacked by many political and religious groups over the ages in a bid to justify various forms of violence. In most cases, Islamic splinter groups invoked jihad to fight against the established Islamic order. Scholars say this misuse of jihad contradicts Islam.

Examples of sanctioned military jihad include the Muslims’ defensive battles against the Crusaders in medieval times, and before that some responses by Muslims against Byzantine and Persian attacks during the period of the early Islamic conquests.

      WHAT JIHAD IS NOT

Jihad is not a violent concept.

Jihad is not a declaration of war against other religions. It is worth noting that the Koran specifically refers to Jews and Christians as “people of the book” who should be protected and respected. All three faiths worship the same God. Allah is just the Arabic word for God, and is used by Christian Arabs as well as Muslims, which collectively (Jews, Christians and Muslims) amounts to more than three quarter of the entire world population, who believe in the existence of God.

Military action in the name of Islam has not been common in the history of Islam. Scholars says most calls for violent jihad are not sanctioned by Islam.
It must also be said that warfare in the name of God is not unique to Islam only. Historians will say, other faiths throughout the world have waged wars with religious justifications.

      • 3
        1

        Narwan:

“Jihad is not a violent concept”

To understand the true Sunni Islam, one must look at ISIS and Al-Qaeda. That is the (Sunni) Islam practiced by Muhammed, as stated by Anjem Choudhary. In which slavery, beheading, etc. are allowed under the Shariah. But let us be fair: during Muhammed’s day, slavery, beheading/crucifixion etc. were all normal behaviors. The Romans, Babylonians, Egyptians, etc. did all of these things. The problem is that some Sunni Muslims TODAY are eager to copy Muhammed. It is true that jihad can mean inner spiritual struggle. But it can also mean military warfare, as you have pointed out. After this military warfare comes the Shariah. When the Taliban took over Afghanistan, Shariah. When ISIS took over Fallujah and Aleppo, Shariah. When Al-Nusra took over some parts of Syria, Shariah. Saudi Arabia has Shariah. Bin-Laden wanted the Shariah for the whole Saudi, that is why he bombed New York, since the Americans were “polluting” the Holy Land. Shia Islam is very different; however, Shias are only 10% of the total Muslim population.

“With A Little Political Backing We Can End The Rise Of Muslims”:-

Does Gandassara not realise that ‘The Rise Of Muslims’ started with the ‘Sinhala Only and Tamil also Policy’ of the SLFP?

Tamils and Sinhalese had Tamil and Sinhala as their Media of Instruction, while the Muslims had access to the Rest of the World, with English as their Medium of Instruction!

It would be better if BBS followed the Buddha’s teaching of Ahimsa, and encouraged all Sinhale’s to start Learning proper English, so that they could communicate with the Wider World, and so reduce their Massive Inferiority Complex!

We can spit at Gandasara from atop our high horses all we want.

The point is Gandasara’s message resonates like hell in the Stupid Sri Lankan electorate. Both Sinhala and Tamil.

Fear of encroaching fundamentalist Islam is real. All over the world. We should face it as an open, transparent & democratic society.

Debate and discussion of these vital matters should not be left to racist fear-mongers like Gandasara. Mainstream politicians should wrestle these debates away from Balu Sena and their ilk.

Decent & silent people must take part in this discussion. Debate honestly, with facts & respect. Only then can we make progress and ensure security for all our citizens.

Not by shying away from these difficult topics. Not by kicking it under the carpet or further down the road.

      Good to hear from you.

“Fear of encroaching fundamentalist Islam is real. All over the world. We should face it as an open, transparent & democratic society.”

      Some would say its paranoia.

Just because Gnanasara is paranoid and a public racist we shouldn’t be listening to him. There is no evidence to suggest Islamist are planning a whole-sale take over of this island. This is how the fascistic elements within the country stoke fear and eventually take control of every aspect of our life.

Would you like Gnasara’s Gestapo telling you when, where, how, how many times …. you can have sex with your partner? Don’t give in to these saffron clad thugs.

Now there is a real threat posed this thug to Muslims living in this island. This could be the invitation for the middle east terrorist to visit us. My worry is this tug is more dangerous than the middle east terrorists, he is attempting to stir an honest nest.

It is for the Hindians to worry if there is a real danger posed by Middle East/Internation terrorism. If Hindians can’t deal with it then they should rollback their Indian ocean security commitments and leave it Gnanasara to deal with the imminent danger.

The other side of this paranoia is that we should ask what has our all-weather friend Pakistan been doing to curtail their home-grown terrorists?

Sleep well, don’t justify Gnanasara’s fascistic activism, don’t let him invite Middle-East terrorists into this island by his stupid utterings, …

If you really want to have a mature decent discussion on middle east terrorism, please write a paper and publish here.

Ranjith, look at world statistics on Muslim growth rate and future estimates based on realistic forecasts. If Islam and Muslims are as bad as you suggest, how is it possible to achieve such remarkable growth rates. Islam is now the fastest growing religion in the world. How is that possible if there is any truth in what you spout. A very basic deduction.

In my book, you fall into the same ‘hermit’ category as Gnanasara. Meditating in the forest leading a solitary lifestyle, waiting for enlightenment to shroud you. “Pabakaran is a freedom fighter.”

He was. A good soft-spoken simple selfless dedicated disciplined loving family man who had a strong sense of justice since a young age, who grew up admiring Indian freedom fighters and sacrificed his family for Tamil liberation. He wanted to free his people from a racist unjust system and he’s admired for it.

What Gnanasara mentioned about marriage and about population is true. But one day he will realise that Prabaharan is a freedom fighter not a bad person and he is not against Singhalese and Buddhism and wanted justice for all human beings-Sinhala or Tamil. After all Buddha is originally a Hindu and all Hindus worship him and his preaching.

Some Tamils are clearly disturbed by Muslims helping get rid of a maniac called Prabhakaran… It’s nothing but sour grapes. Muslims didn’t kill innocent Tamils,it was your Boss who killed innocent Muslims and Sinhalese. It was your Boss supported by Chola regime who bombed the mosques, Arantalawa and Dalada Maligawa… It was your people asked for a separate country… We Muslims never did anything of that sorts.

Yes you betrayed your fellow Tamil-speaking people for a racist savage regime that didn’t only get rid of VP but also thousand of civilians, nothing to be proud of. There were massacres of Tamil civilians by Muslim home guards which is why LTTE retaliated. LTTE expelled Muslims not only for the safety of Tamils but for their own safety as well. I believe expulsion of Muslims prevented more massacres. Mosque massacre attributed to LTTE by SL Gov was denied by the LTTE who blamed it on the SL Gov as their dirty trick to get support from Muslim countries. Any accusation from the GOSL propaganda machine must be taken with a grain of salt. Tamil leaders have always tried to be inclusive toward Muslims this is why they were careful to use the term ‘Tamil speaking people’ instead of just ethnic Tamils (though I believe most of these so-called moors are descendants of South Indian converts rather than few Arab settlers.) So why couldn’t you live under Tamil Eelam? Their constitution safeguarded religious freedom and equality for all ethnic groups. LTTE wouldn’t have had attacked Muslims if Muslims didn’t collaborate with the genocidal regime of Sinhala Lanka. There were few Muslims among Tamil militant groups in the early days but as a separate Muslim ethnic identity was solidified whether due to efforts by the GOSL as some accuse or Muslim leaders themselves Muslims became antagonistic to the creation of Tamil Eelam.

Since you support military defeat of separatism, do you extend this support to India fighting Muslim separatists in Kashmir as well? What about China fighting Muslim Uyghur separatists? Are Palestinian militants freedom fighters or terrorists that must be eradicated?

Islam is more of a political ideology than religion. If one follows the Quran exactly, it dictates every habit, from what to eat, to what to wear, to how to treat women. The Europeans spread Christianity via colonialism, even though there were no forcible conversions. The primary purpose of European colonialism was to exploit the natural resources of a given region; religion itself was secondary. On the other hand, when Islam conquered regions like Indonesia, North India, Iran, North Africa, and the pagan Middle East, conversion was done by the sword. Muhammed should be respected as a great warrior, not a prophet. Muslims are engaged in so many wars today, why? They are just following Muhammed’s example. Christianity used to be wild and barbaric, it was tamed by the Enlightenment & Protestant Reformation. I am not sure if Islam can be tamed in a similar way, again, given the background of Muhammed. So in some sense, what the monk says is correct. We should guard the Sinhala-Buddhist heritage of the country very carefully. We should not force it on anyone, at the same time, do not let opportunistic politicians sell the country off. There are no Hindus or Jews left in Indonesia, North Africa, and Saudi Arabia, and it took Spain 900 years to kick out the Islamists. The 30 year war that we fought with the LTTE will be peanuts by comparison.

      @ Lester

Bali in Indonesia is a Hindu State

Though Indonesia follow Islam ..Hindu rituals are part and parcel of their daily life
Every Indonesian girl learn Ramanaya dance indeed they say Rama belong to Indonesia
Hindu Names like Dewi,Moorthy,Ratna,Arjuna etc etc are very common for Indonesian Muslims ,one Ali in Indonesia may be a Hindu or Muslim.
It is easy to assimilate with Indonesian Muslims ..they are civilized because of their Hindu ancestors .

Indonesians never forget their Hindu roots.

But it is the Saudies are spliting Muslims alls over Asia now .

Go and see Islamic Caliphate of Kathankudy all men dress like Arabs and women so the same look like clowns but speak TAMIL …sure.

      Cheers

        Cholan:

Correct; Indonesia has many Christians and Hindus. Thank you for clarifying. It is similar with Iranians, since they are Shia and they were Zoroastrian originally. There are still 10K Jews in Iran. The issue is only with Sunnis, who are eager for jihad.

Iranians are Persians so well civilized in Middle East though follow Islam this is why 2nd largest population there are Jews even there are Jewish MPs ..not only this Jews are allowed to travel to Israel Iranians are very tolerating people …ever heard Iranian killed people in Europe ?

During Iran-Iraq war not a single Arab country supported Iran because they are not Arabs this is the beauty of their religion ..Saddam called them fire worshipers

Non Arab Iran is advancing and still there… where is Iraq now ? Islam failed here.

          Cheers

“The Europeans spread Christianity via colonialism, even though there were no forcible conversions. “

E&O: The Portuguese did it as ruthlessly as the Arab Muslims because most by that time had Arab and african blood- Timeline-Muslim presence in the Iberian Peninsula- 711-1491 Granada Spain
When England changed the powering of ships from steam to diesel a Portuguese man owning vast stretches of Iran became the richest man in the world.

“Islam is more of a political ideology than religion.”

      So is Sinhala/Buddhism.

“We should guard the Sinhala-Buddhist heritage of the country very carefully. “

There was no such thing as Sinhala/Buddhist heritage 100 or so years ago. However, there were Sinhala culture and Buddhists heritage. We should guard both from Sinhala/Buddhists.

        Native Vedda:

Sinhala-Buddhism is harmless. Sinhala-Buddhists have not blown up people in Spain, London, New York, Bali, Syria, Saudi Arabia, France, Libya, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Kenya, Iraq, Israel, Egypt, Scotland, and Nigeria. Anyway, try and understand what I wrote here. Islam means “submission.” Asking questions is not allowed. It is a “total” philosophy. That is why Arab countries require a dictator to keep the peace. Without the dictator, radical Islam takes over.

The Portugese have more Arab, and some African genes than European – 800 years of sex-slavery. they did not keep their `ir in a box- you hiding.

Why do you think southern sinhalese with Portuguese names behave like the Muslims?? Blood is thicker than water.

Behavioral studies show those straits.- 1948- 2016 Sinhal Puddhu+ Muslim rule in Ceylon- the island at war killing its own people.

Truth is bitter for many; especially for those blinded by misinformation and for those who challenge the authenticity of the past. Truth becomes more bitter for those who have compromised the moral values. The truth is the enemy of the Hedonist rulers.

The messenger of the truth and the authenticator or the witness becomes the target of abusive filthy language, rotten eggs, tomatoes and stones. But don’t forget “Satyameva Jayate; “Truth alone triumphs”. So it is futile to hate the messenger, look around and observe reality.
