You Can Arrest Us, But You Cannot Wipe Us Out – Mahinda Rajapaksa

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa proclaimed that even if his entire family was arrested, including himself, no one can wipe out the history created by the Rajapaksa’s since 1936.

Mahinda on YoshithaIn a picture message uploaded on his official Facebook page just minutes after his son, Yoshitha was remanded for allegedly committing financial irregularities at the Carlton Sports Network, Rajapaksa said, “Arrest my entire family, and if that is not enough arrest me, but the temper of steel history left by the Rajapaksa’s since 1936 cannot be wiped out.”

The picture message depicted Rajapaksa feeding his now remanded son, Yoshitha cake during a birthday.

In a separate post, also on his Facebook page, Rajapaksa said that it is the parents who suffer the most when misfortune befalls a child.

Namal, Rajapaksa’s eldest son in a picture post uploaded on his Facebook and Twitter pages which showed Mahinda Rajapaksa in tears soon after the court verdict, said; “The man who wiped off the tears of an entire country, is today in tears.”

Namal Rajapaksa added that the parents’ love for their children can only be understood by parents. “It’s difficult seeing our parents this way,” he said in a tweet. (By Munza Mushtaq © CT )

We know what you did for the Hero Sarath Fonseka.

Chief of Defence Staff General (Retired) Sarath Fonseka Arrested

Oh children of mostly Tamils, Muslims, this is part, but tip of the ice berg in what these MaRa barbarians did for the Tamils, thousands of Tamil fathers had been killed by this Sinhala army, thousands of Tamil girls had been raped by this Sinhala army, as a result the Tamils took arms to fight for freedom. These babarians will never allow you to stay calm and live in peace then what you want to do is create your own police and army to protect your people or you will get killed.

In due time, these culprits will be released.

      This is all a show.

Bravo! Finally some of the Rajapaksa/ Jarapassa scum are being taken in!

We the PUBLIC need more information on the looted funds and back accounts of the Jarapassa family.

Jarapassa family’s looted billions need to be traced and used to pay off the massive Nation Debt that is causing the crash of the Sri Lanka economy and currency.

There will be no need to borrow from the stinking IMF which is respoinsbible for galloping global INEQUALITY and FINANCIAL CRIMINALITY that is legalized in the global international system once the Jarapassa billions that are funds stolen from the people of Sri Lanka, are recovered.

“You Can Arrest Us, But You Cannot Wipe Us Out”

What does he mean by wiping them out? Arresting for a criminal act is not wiping out, nobody is going to wipe them out.

Mahinda Rajapaksa is an expert in acting, he is only playing to the gallery.

No one can be above the law or exempted from the law, when they were engaged in criminal activities, they never thought of losing the power for the at least the next 25 years.

You are an ungrateful unpatriotic traitor.

The entire family fought the war against LTTE therefore, they are entitle to whatever they wanted.

So then you should feel that at the time, that teeny boy (Prabakarans son) was shot to death by your forces… under your command… if you go on saying that your mediation eleminated the terror in the country.
Law and order is equal to anyone… today, but was not the case under your administration. You bread Ghanasaras and other culprits of high criminal energies during your rule. Let alone today, you should be clear – we are all srilankens – we are not allowed be above law. At the time SF was abducted and put in the jail, you should think revenge on the rival cant help anyone. Today, not only your son, if anybody went wrong, would have been invited to talk to INVESTIGATION groups. Is it not real democracy ?

Mahinda Rajapaksa is directly responsible for this son’s arrest.

MR is crying now because of this GUILT for setting the BAD EXAMPLE of CORRUPTION and GREED and teaching his son to think that he is ABOVE the Law of the Land.

Mahinda Jarapassa the king of corruption in Lanka is and was a bad ROLE MODEL for Sri Lanka’s youth and younger generation.

Let this be an example to all the corrupt politicians who give their children DELUSIONS that they can break the law with impunity because Papa is a Politician.

The same sentiments Rajapakse said equally applies to Sarath Fonseka, Prabakaran’s son, Thajudeen, Lasantha Wickrematunge, Shirani Bandaranayake former Chief Justice of Sri Lanka, and many more. The rule applies equally to all. You took revenge on all these people and that was crystal clear and now you are simply playing to the gallery. If Rajapakse wants real sympathy he should please answer how he could justify what he did to the people I have mentioned above.

Definitely hard to wipe out, much like a cockroach.
Rajapuka’s father was a good guy, but this guy and his brothers are world class crooks, on the level of Hitler.

That being said, it is sad to see a parent hurting for their child, whether that parent is a monster or not – they have feelings. But they also have to understand that what goes around comes around. I don’t want anybody to feel bad no matter what they’ve done in the past because them feeling bad won’t fix anything but how can he expect everyone to feel bad for him? He did some really bad things.

For all the pain and misery he caused to so many during his 10 year reign of terror, Mahinda Rajapaksa is now paying with heart ache and tears. Only now the man knows what mental pain means. When he caused such pain to others it was sheer joy for him. Let this be a dam lesson to all Sri Lankan politicians.

Ruggerite Thajudeen must surely be smiling form where ever he is.

    Former President Mahinda Rajapakse,

I can understand your tears . They are the tears of a father. I am sure Shiranthi is shedding tears too at her son’s plight. Two days back, I cried all night for my son and grandson who left after a brief holiday in Sri Lanka. The impending separation pained me because of the thought that I may not live to see them again. i, as a son, have not yet cried for my mother, who was murdered in the north during the war years and left to rot, because I was shocked beyond tears, at the sight of what I saw and was able to visualize the plight of others, which was worse, I had the opportunity to atleast cremate her in a rudimentary manner. Many did not have even this solace. It made me think and understand the stupidity, futility and cruelty of wars, regardless of cause. It was a lesson learned.

This is an opportunity for you to reflect, on your past and that of your son. If your concience tells that you and he did no wrong, fight for him through the courts. Spend your last penny on this endeavor. If the courts find him innocent, you and he will stand vindicated. Thank God, that there is now a possibility that your son will be judged justly by the. Courts. Many under your government did not have this opportunity. If he is found guilty, learn your lessons from that experience. Your son, a much favored brat, will learn a valuable lesson too, either way. It will be a very valuable lesson learned.

However, do not make hollow noises now. It will only make you look worse than you are, if he is found guilty. Celebrate, if he is found innocent, in a humble manner. This is the moment for you to understand the meaning of rule of law, d4mocracy and good governance. It is also an opportunity understand the pain of others in similar or worse circumstances, which were the result of your actions, inactions or maliciousness. Contemplate the injustice done to many during your tenure as President, because the rule of law, was becoming a mirage, because you subverted it. I am glad you will learn your lesson in this life and not in lives to come, as many believe.

On behalf of all Sinhalese people, may I say that it is shocking to hear how sad the end of your mother’s life was. You have told us this only now.

I have admired so many of your comments for being constructive and objective. I may not have believed it if somebody else had told me that you had, yourself, suffered so much. Your comments on ethnic relations are wonderfully balanced. Thank you for working so consistently for National Unity: I avoid some aspects of the subject feeling that it is not for the majority community to dictate such a policy to the minorities. But I am so happy when I see comments by you, Dr.Rajasingham Narendran, affirming your view that we should remain ONE country.

Yes, the Rajapaksas must understand that they could not enjoy that impunity for ever. Now, MaRa, be a man; count your blessings. You were the only guy who got in to Law College owing to Felix Dias Bandaranaike’s concession extended to MPs below a certain age. But that was not enough good fortune for the family, you thought, and so you persuaded the Law College Principal to allow Namal to sit the . . . Dash it the story is too well known to justify my recounting it. But do you remember the name of the guy who courageously protested? I had forgotten, but I googled for it, and here’s the story with many reader comments:

      http://www.thesundayleader.lk/2011/04/24/law-student-goes-underground/

I googled for something else, relating to S. Thomas’, but the Rajapaksa boys have been fortunate again! There were some ridiculous comments by a sycophantic woman about the three young Rajapaksas being paragons of virtue. Those comments did not form an important part of the story; in fact this lady had used the opportunity afforded by the son of lawyer Ladduwahetty’s son having some problem relating to ragging by prefect of S. Thomas’ College, to pay tributes to “the exemplary Rajapaksa boys”. The comments were totally out of place, but that was the sort of aura that the toadies of the family tried to envelop them in. This explains why they can’t be found now:

      http://www.stcobaaust.org.au/school-news/apology-from-the-sunday-leader/

Obviously the comments also disappeared when the story was retracted. A pity, because it’s now not possible to easily recall with what fear I put in some corny comment on.

With Sirisena nepotism being SO MUCH talked about, it is good to remind ourselves that sycophants are to be found everywhere, but this story ties up also with that Mt. Lavinia story. It was because of what happened at Eton, that then Warden of S. Thomas’ Rev. Puddefoot turned up in Sri Lanka:

      http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/4630797.stm

You will find many more accounts of that story on the Internet.

There are more Rajapaksa stories, but we’re wandering far from the original story, aren’t we?

      Rajasingham.

You understand the emotions behind Mahinda’s tears. You yurself cried when you grand children left and you don’t know if they will come back to see you before you-know-what.

Very considerate and very passionate, and very sympathetic to parental love, indeed.

The sincerity somehow gets tainted when we recall that couple of months ago when the international team was in Jaffna and the mothers and wives and daughters wailed seeking a resolution on the disappeared you were quite callus in stating that the focus should be on looking forward and, in that spirit, the singular priority should be to address the water issue, sidelining any other demands, including that of the wiling parents.

Where exactly was your passion then?

Jut two weeks ago you also cried on behalf of the 80 slipper-less children – I suggested a solution that would not have cost you anything off your own purse or the purse of your vacationing children. You would not even consider that option.

Does passion get subdued when the purse gets in the way?

Some gratitude that Prabhakaran’s gone? Yes, definitely, but did his little son have to be killed?

However, that’s not what is evil about your comment, “Srinath.gunaratne”. You would actually like a “couple of bombs explod(ing) in colombo!” so that your cynosure, Rajapaksa can once more be acclaimed to be a hero.

And it doesn’t end there; you must be one of the guys who wanted to stop Tamils from lighting candles to mourn their dead.

          Dear “sach”,

You have said, above, “from this megalomaniac mahinda”, when you probably meant to call Prabha a “megalomaniac”. That’s O.K. We all scatter “printer’s devils”. But was it a Freudian slip?

The point is that both Mahinda and Prabha were megalomaniacs! I agree that eternal vigilance is necessary in a democracy, but we are certainly better off with only a relatively low level of “nepotism” to contend with.

  • 8
    4

Dear Sir, we Sri Lankans will ever be grateful for what you did to wipe-out terrorism. This applies to the Sinhalese, the ordinary, simple Tamils (believe me), the Muslims and all who live there. (The diaspora will not agree). No question about that. No other leader, except perhaps The Late Sir John would or could have acted so decisively. Even President Sirisena and Prime Minister Wickremasinghe said so when they took oaths on the 9th of January 2015. You did not care for the double-tongued Brits nor the lying Norwegians nor even the selfish Yanks. Then, sir this great victory was eulogized by the ordinary folk who found it possible to feel safe on the roads. All those banners went to your head and you allowed yourself to be regarded as the uncrowned monarch and you depended too much on “soothsayers” who are, in fact led by demonic forces, and allowed your own brothers and family members too much freedom to act on their own, who misused these powers for their own benefit.

Remember Sir, there is a great and awesome God, the Lord God who created the heavens and the earth and He is righteous. And He is also the righteous Judge. There is also “the second death” which we must all strive to escape, only with the Blood of Jesus. Look at the events unfolding right at this time and know the Time is now.

What you should have done is to complete your two terms and left gracefully. Then your name would have lived forever. But now, as Brutus said, “the good that a man does is buried with him but his evil lives on”.

    • 2
      1

      Dear “k.soysa”,

I agree with you that the evil man may unwittingly get something necessary done, but do we want him hanging round for ever?

By the way, it was Mark Antony who said what you have attributed to Brutus. Antony was facetiously saying things to undermine the honest Brutus. In fact, we do have a similar situation here right now. MaRa was like Julius Caesar, the conquering hero. Neither Brutus nor Maithri may be perfect, but essentially, they mean well.

      “The evil that men do lives after them;
The good is oft interrèd with their bones.”

Many find Shakespeare’s Early Modern English a bit confusing, so here it is with a parallel text in Contemporary English.

      http://nfs.sparknotes.com/juliuscaesar/page_132.html

Yes, Sir John, too was a rough hewn man from a tough background:

      http://www.sundaytimes.lk/140209/sunday-times-2/how-kotelawala-snr-got-young-brother-in-law-killed-84856.html

It was only recently, from a comment on CT that I came to know just how guilty these people were. Isn’t tha one of the most horrible stories that we could possibly hear of. So, Sir John’s father was the man who invented the cyanide capsule for Sri Lanka, knowing that it was better than hanging.

Isn’t it time we had heroes with a more peaceful outlook on life? I know that we’ve begun to say things about the brothers of the President, but he, himself, is a gentler man – on whom we may have to keep an eye, since although his sight is keen, he may turn a Nelsonian eye to certain things that are happening.

What we need is a man who will bring about reconcilliation; Maithri is the right man for the times (Brutus was too much of an idealist). It is all the people in the country who matter, not the great hero.

So, consider MaRa your hero; and let the Tamils consider Prabha their hero. And let us get on with our humdrum lives.

Not many will like me for saying that, but isn’t that the truth?

Dear Mahinda, you say it is revenge. But take a deep look inside your heart. You lost power from a place of invincibility because people saw the evil you and your family created. What do you think the multitudes of ,Lasantha’s, SF’,s and , Eknelgodas are thinking, though many are buried 6 feet under. We as normal citizens saw first hand how you allowed thugs as Gnanasssar,Mervin, Duminda who killed in cold blood to run a mock. “….the temper of steel history left by the Rajapaksa’s since 1936 cannot be wiped out.” When you refer to the services done to be poor in the deep South from the Colonial days, it is not Mahinda Rajapakse’s family that comes into the picture. It is that of George and Lakshman Rajapakse families – the descendent of whom is the sophisticated Nirupama – MP in the last Parliament. MR’s family are really the 2nd XI Rajapakses in the region – to use Cricket parlance. George and Lakshman were well bred and educated. Either one or both played Cricket for Royal. They did not have killer genes in their DNA – like MR, his brothers and children.

To tie up with the “rice pancake” story:

This is politics, and I think that Don Mathew Rajapaksa won fair and square in 1936, but the fact is that he was the clerk who defeated his proctor boss – in to third place.

To quote a Tamil, D.B.S. Jeyaraj, writing AFTER MaRa was defeated: “When universal suffrage was introduced and elections to the State Council were held in 1931, D.M. Rajapaksa supported V.S. Wickramanayake in the Hambantota Constituency. Wickramanayake was elected. In 1936 D.M. Rajapaksa himself plunged in and faced hustings.”

The “proctor-boss” was my grandmother’s elder brother. Their father was

“Charles Edward Wikramanayake was the Head Teacher of the Boys Anglo Vernacular School (1876 — 1916)”. Actually the claim in the family is that he taught 49 years in the school – probably true if the precursors to Richmond started as early as 1814.

But in a sense, all this is rubbish, and it may actually be vulgar putting it on to a serious website. However, now that all that has been written, let it go in – no doubt to be rightly ridiculed!

It is the present that matters, and that does include bringing criminals to justice!

Remember Harris and Chandra Wickramatunge? How they suffered as parents? Their son was shot dead. Yoshita only in remand, not killed. He will get rial in court. Lasantha did not get trial. he was guilty according to Rajapaksa family. So verdict was given

Why Great King (Maha Rajanani – song created for you & the pretty singer doomed to wilderness) are you in tears?
During your regime weren’t thousands of other parents in similar situations?
By the way, what happened to all those Navy Rugby Team Supporters during your regime? Surely they should rally round Yo Yo during his hour of need? Also where are all your ‘shopping boys’ (names too numerous to mention)?
Oops I forgot!… At that time they were all lames following the thug (Chandiya passen giya Nondiyas).

Did you feel this way when Prabhakaran’s 10 yr old son was killed in cold blood?? Or when you ochestrated the brutal murder of Wasim Thajudeen? Did your father care a tuppence for the tears of parents of those youths who dissapeared during the war? Remember that the mills of justice will grind slowly but surely for you and your family members.

Under the current justice system , Mahinda can at least draw some comfort from that fact that his son will no doubt get a fair trial . which he denied others when he was in power.

I hope they realize that what Wasim Thajudeen’s parents felt was far worse than this. At least their son is alive and wasn’t brutally murdered…
