Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa proclaimed that even if his entire family was arrested, including himself, no one can wipe out the history created by the Rajapaksa’s since 1936.
In a picture message uploaded on his official Facebook page just minutes after his son, Yoshitha was remanded for allegedly committing financial irregularities at the Carlton Sports Network, Rajapaksa said, “Arrest my entire family, and if that is not enough arrest me, but the temper of steel history left by the Rajapaksa’s since 1936 cannot be wiped out.”
The picture message depicted Rajapaksa feeding his now remanded son, Yoshitha cake during a birthday.
In a separate post, also on his Facebook page, Rajapaksa said that it is the parents who suffer the most when misfortune befalls a child.
Namal, Rajapaksa’s eldest son in a picture post uploaded on his Facebook and Twitter pages which showed Mahinda Rajapaksa in tears soon after the court verdict, said; “The man who wiped off the tears of an entire country, is today in tears.”
Namal Rajapaksa added that the parents’ love for their children can only be understood by parents. “It’s difficult seeing our parents this way,” he said in a tweet. (By Munza Mushtaq © CT )

It is truly sad for parents to see a child being put into Prison for the crimes he is alleged to have committed. It is more true for parents to be sad to see their offspring butchered and murdered for absolutely no fault of his. Time will tell through the wheels of justice the crimes committed, and details of the heinous murder that took place, and who was responsible for such crimes and the murder.
In the first instance above, the parents who have seen their child being arrested must realise that it was they who must be held responsible for the waywardness of their child; he was only following in his parents footsteps as they set the example, and now he has to pay for those crimes. There is no point in these parents CRYING NOW. If my thinking is right there will be more to follow and they will shed more tears, maybe ‘ tears of blood’ as more will be arrested and more criminal activity will be exposed, of their own, and that of other members of their family, and the family at large.
In the second instance referred to above the parents of the murdered ‘child’ had the agonizing experience of seeing their son ‘brutally murdered’ by powerful forces for no fault of his.
Whose tears are more painful, more heartbreaking ? more pitiful?
Mr and MRS R, your tears for your son’s arrest are understandable, but be reminded that you have either directly or indirectly caused the murder and deaths of hundreds if not thousands of sons of Sri Lanka through your terrible deeds of omission and commission, knowingly. The Rajapakse name is indeed one to be revered, but not of this thieving lot but of their father and grandfather Mr. D A Rajapakse. He was one of the founders of SLFP and when in government trailblazed the distribution of the crown lands to the landless peasants that gave a boost to the paddy and coconut cultivation in his village. According to Wikipedia, when his children (the thieving lot) were at school in Colombo, he had little money, but did not resort to bribery and corruption as this lot was proned to do, but sold his vehicle and leased his lands, so much so that when he fell ill, he had no means of transport to the hospital. He was indeed a man of great principles.
