Ananthi Elilan Attack: Perpetrators Involved Should Be Brought To Justice Swiftly – US

The U.S. Embassy Colombo notes reports of an attack on the residence of an electoral candidate, supporters, and members of a domestic elections monitoring NGO during the evening of September 19.

US Ambassador Michele Sison

Issuing a statement the Embassy expresses concern regarding the attack, especially in the lead-up to the Provincial Council elections that will take place in Sri Lanka on September 21.

“The attack should be transparently and independently investigated, and the perpetrators involved should be brought to justice swiftly.  We call on all parties to refrain from violence and observe a peaceful, open and transparent electoral process – one that is free, fair and credible and allows for the full expression of the voters to select democratically the representatives of their choice.” the Embassy said.

We have hear of hundreds of elections violations and complaints. But the perpetrators who are overwhelmingly from the govt. go free.

What precisely is the point of collecting all these complaints if nothing is done to hold the violators accountable and put behind bars?

How many complaints does it take for the elections to be called an illegal circus that provides a FACADE of democracy for the Rajapassa military dictatorship? In any case the habit of staggered election must be STOPPED.
The elections monitors form the SAARC, Commonwealth of Clowns and UN need to provide answers to these questions. Otherwise the complaints that are unattended merely PROMOTES the current CULTURE OF IMPUNITY!

What do the Colombo NGO ladies who are milking donors for overseas jaunts but silent about MILITARIZATION of Sri Lanka have to say about this attack on a woman candidate?! Asleep on the job I suppose!

Women’s NGOs in Colombo are presenting northern women as victims and shed tears to get funds for UN conferences on GBV, but have not done public awareness to DEMILITAIRZE Nor do they criticize the international donors who have been actively supporting or silent about the post-war MILITARIZATION by Gota the war criminal. The donors keep the women’s NGOs happy and they praise the donors who are helping militarize Lanka.. Wheels within wheels.. Trips to racist Aussie and all that Jazz for the women and media show..
India and China are militarizing Lanka because of their own interest but this is bad for Democracy Within. women’s NGOs should call for mother Lanka to be a “demilitarized zone of peace in the Indian Ocean”, now that the LTTE is gone. The World Bank and IMF are funding Ministry of Defense via the UDA. This MUST BE STOPPED and WB closed down! UN expert in DDR – Demobilizing and reintegrating militaries after conflict also are silent on the need to DOWNSIZE and right size the military of Sri Lanka.
Time for women’s organizations to speak in one voice- loud and clear – Sri Lanka needs a ROAD MAP FOR DEMILITARIZATION TO RESTORE DEMOCRACY and donors need to help civil society rather than funding that clown and NGO ladies Vasu’s Ministry – who hasn’t got a clue about social integration..

The Colombo NGOs are all donor dependent and silent about MILITARIZATION because they want foreign funds and their donors are big arms traders in the region!

It is the NGO donors (US, Britain, EU, India, China etc) are promoting the militarization of the region also to promote their arms industry..!

Does the US Embassy consider this to be the only violent incident that needs to be investigated or is this the only one they are interested in? if so why?

Lanka Talk very good argument from a true son of Sri Lanka. If someone can be attacked somewhere sometime why not in Sri Lanka. This is repeated daily in Sri Lankan. Ma Hinder Chindanaya also says the same thing. Keep it up. Lie Lanka

    Sison,

You just joined the party of “empty Utterances Society” along with Ban Ki, Sharma et al. Actually, don’t you people feel ashamed of yourselves of issuing these empty and tasteless statements which the despot Rajapaksha and his goons do not give a hoot to! We feel sorry over what has happened to UN, Commonwealth and powerful US! You all have now compromised souls, if any at all. When the very people whose responsibility it is to protect humans and their rights act in collusion with the violators of those rights, no wonder the humanity is going down. Given the current trend of normalizing crimes what will be the world like in another 50 or so years? The future generations would one day curse you all and your souls will have no peace at all for the rest of your universal existence.

I don’t how Sinhala people going to look at this.
Will they realise that this is the act they have faced and they are going to face in future. Whether it is North or South, democratic rights have been taken away from people or we don’t mind about democracy or our rights. The Sinhala politicians can simply take away your rights by taking you in to showing “Eelam is coming, Pirapakaran is coming, Tamils are killing us”. You are in the dark and you will never see the brightness of the true democracy or value of humanity.

Michelle Sison, you have no business in Sri Lanka.First attend to your Country and NATO officials misdeeds and Human Rights violation that are happening with your blessings.

Each militia group in Libya US & NATO supported are holding prisoners with yours blessings.Saif al Gaddafi and another 8000+ prisoners are being held in a prtivate prison in ZLITEN and the puppet Government the WEST supported admits but are helpless.
West disposed Muammar Gadaffi to break up Libya and handover parts to the Tribal Militias & for the WEST to have control over the OIL wealth and Water…….. Were the West able to control? The answer is NO.
US & the NATO Countries are the worst Human Rights violaters under the son.
USA masses are paying for your sins with daily Muders, shootings, Natural disasters, brain eating Amoeba in the drinking water and YOU HAVE NEVER LEARNT from your arrogance.

Therefore, Ms. Sison, you have no business in Sri Lanka’s internal affairs. If you want to poke your finger, then stick it up you know where…
Leave Sri Lanka matters to Sri Lanka.

Neither the US or NGOs, as a matter of fact the Monitoring Mission or Westborg NOR any mothers son from the West was ever bothered.

Why is Sison & you coming to poke your finger in our exteriors insted of yours?

In sending the ‘situation reports’ thats their job.Taking action is a whole different issue. These are indeed collection of adverse reports building the file on HR vioalations.
We will wait for the election violations in the south too.
    Soon to unravel.
Army has been called out all over the Island.

Sison, bloody [Edited out, instead of issuing useless statements. US and UN are all war criminals too because they empower and maintain the Rajapaksha despotic regime! They are transforming SL to the rogue den in South Asia so that they can sell their arms, drugs and do all kinds of illegal smuggling in the region! They are making SL the heroin transit point in the region. Mattala airport and Hambanthota port can be used to smuggle in and out any contraband in the world! Sisson, b[Edited out]!

Those days, LTTE did so many attacks on one day. US EMBASSY never reported those.

Tamils are just another community just like any other american community. In american communities there are so many violent crimes and multiple murders everyday and any given day.

US EMBASSY NEVER REPORT THOSE THINGS.

This looks like the LTTE style.

LTTE used to attack and accuse others.

LTTE did MANY ATTACKS a day, ALWAYS did not take THE RESPONSIBILITY AND allowed other parties to be blamed.

Channel 4 video, RajiV Gandhi murder are some of those very famous ones.

    Jim – tread softly.
Are you saying – That we should now call the western countries OUT.
By saying – Hey you,IF YOU CAN DO IT I CAN DO IT TOO’

Why are we then calling ourselves a ‘Budhist Country’

We are different to them arent we.?

    Susan,

You will issue statements, but who will hear them? Will at least the U. S green card holder Gota care? I very much doubt! So, why waste time issuing these statements? That is the question in the minds of most Tamils?
