Watareka Vijitha thero a critic of the Bodu Bala Sena was mercilessly beaten after being abducted is currently receiving treatment at the Panadura hospital.
The monk was reportedly beaten and left in Panadura with his arms and legs tied with the saffron robe.
He is in critical conditions.
The Monk was a fierce critic of the BBS and was assaulted on a previous occasion in kegalle.
Not a single suspect was arrested for the previous assault.
No suspects have been arrested for today’s assault yet.

Disturbing picture of Watareka Vijitha Thero, hands tied bahind and beaten up and dumped. This nothing compared to the horrific images of the violent treatement of Tamils during the end of the war. Perhaps this is an eye opener for Muslims, Moderate Sihnala people and Moderate Monks. Thre is a consistency in the image of the Watareka Vijitha Thero and the images of Tamil vicitms, hands tied behind beaten up stripped naked and dumped. So there is a clue whois behind this.

If the pictures were of Ghanasara the day he would be found died tied but abused by all means his hand behind – the day many like me would feel relieve.. People of higher aggression potential deserve to face the karama. But it is sad to see a monk that just stand andsupport fellow muslims to get treated in the manner. This is MR govt where thuggery, high crimes are more promoted than avoided OR controlled. If UNO or other bodies would question, what proper and appropriate actions that the govt has taken in saferguarding the human rights ( I mean basic rights), what would the govt respond ?

When muslims planned to do hartal after Jummah prayer, then only media minister cames out from the cage, and saying he comes to know muslims were planing to do hartal, that and this what a shame..

4 innocent and unconnected people lost their lives and a countless others lost their homes and livelihood for ALLEGEDLY having abused a “monk” in his limousine. However, here is irrefutable proof of a real monk who was terrorized for months and publicly assaulted to the brink of his life. This is a great human and a true patriot of mother Lanka who has publicly stated he is willing to sacrifice his life for the sake of all Sri Lankans and Peace. Yet, not even a by stander who seems to care enough to cover him let alone hold his hand and console him but had enough sense to film it with his camera and distribute it. Why the double standard when it comes to a true patriot and a true disciple of Buddha? This is proof that we have become a nation following exactly the opposite of Buddhas philosophy. Yet we keep uttering “Buddhan Saranan Gachchaami”. What a Shame!

Claims that Watareka Thero’s lawyer has said he was drugged and circumcised.The abductors had circumcised Venerable Watareka Vijitha Thera, who is presently undergoing treatment at the Colombo National Hospital.
The lawyer of the Ven. VijithaThera confirmed to Ceylon Today, the Thera was forcibly circumcised on Thursday (19) by an unidentified group who kidnapped and assaulted him at Bandaragama, on Thursday morning.
Attorney-at-Law Senaka Perera said, “Vijitha Thera was assaulted on Thursday.
He sustained severe injuries and had been forcibly circumcised. Vijitha Thera is still receiving treatment at the National Hospital and was transferred to a new ward, under security.
The Venerable Watareka VijithaThera was abducted on Thursday and was found by a passerby unconscious, tied, undressed and dumped under a bridge. Bandaragama Police had rushed him to the Panadura Hospital and he was later transferred to the National Hospital.
