Basil Lies To Polls Commission To Justify Running Task Force On Covid Relief: Says Not A Member Of Any Political Party

Basil Rajapaksa has officially informed the Elections Commission that he was not a member and did not hold any positions in any political party, the Elections Commission Chairman Mahinda Deshapriya told political party leaders at a meeting on Tuesday (21).

Basil Rajapaksa

The political leaders grilled the Commission about why it was permitting the national organiser of the ruling party to run a government task force that is distributing relief for people affected by the crisis during an election season.

Basil Rajapaksa as President Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s special envoy was appointed as chairman of the Presidential Task Force to direct, coordinate and monitor the delivery of continuous services for the sustenance of overall community life in Sri Lanka in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

When the SLFP-SLPP alliance was registered in February 2020 Basil Rajapaksa was announced as the General Secretary of the Alliance. He has also been consistently referred to as the national organizer of the SLPP in countless media reports – and it is a title he has never publicly refuted.

“Which person in this country is willing to believe this statement? Basil Rajapaksa is the national organizer of the SLPP and the General Secretary for the SLFP-SLPP alliance as well” said Anura Kumara Dissanayake who participated in the meeting.

Dissanayake was being interviewed by the Sirasa network show Ilakkaya when he made the revelation.

The Government had completely politicized the virus. “They are using this grave crisis to further their narrow political agendas,” the JVP leader slammed the Government.

Political observers expressed outrage of the Commission’s acceptance of Basil Rajapaksa’s claim and failure to hold the Government accountable for abusing state resources for political gain ahead of a major election. The same Commission had been almost draconian in how it acted to stop the UNP from abusing state resources during elections held when the Yahapalanaya regime was in power.

“It is as if the Election Commission is a bunch of babies. Are they living in outer-space? Do they not know that Basil is a key mover in the SLPP activities? Do they not know that Basil ran the SLPP campaign at the last election? Are they willing to accept this fabrication at face value just because he says so and not take action against the Government abusing state resources to favour their constituencies during an election?” a political observer noted.

The criticism of the Task Force comes as opposition parties raised the alarm that the Government was using Covid-19 relief and the Rs 5000 relief for daily wage earners as election handouts. UNP MP Ajith P. Perera participating in another talk show on Tuesday night said the Government was discriminating against minority communities in its distribution of COVID-19 aid.

Perera said that impoverished Muslim families in the Kalutara District were being deliberately left out of the relief distribution by grama sevakas and other officials aligned to the Government. “It is well known that these Muslim suburbs of Kalutara voted overwhelmingly against President Gotabaya Rajapaksa at the November election. They are being punished for it now” he said.

On Illakkaya, JVP Leader Dissanayake also raised serious questions about how the Elections Commission went ahead and declared 20th June election day.

“We asked them, which experts did you consult – they responded that they spoke to the DG health services, the security forces top brass and the postal department officials. We asked them, what were their recommendations? Did they believe this could be managed sufficiently? The EC chairman responded that none of them had been able to give a certain answer about this. So who are we to believe?” he queried.

The Government’s move to force an end to the curfew and restrictions on daily life was solely aimed at creating a superficial normalcy that would enable them to force the Commission’s hand to hold elections early.

Last week the Silumina newspaper said “Corona bids adieu”. Lankadeepa said “Corona is over”. The Health Minister claimed that by the 19th of April the crisis will end. And Thilanga Sumathipala claimed that even though 107 people had died from dengue in 2019 we still held elections. With dengue, mosquitoes are the carriers. With corona virus, human beings are the carriers. Mosquitoes don’t campaign in elections and go to polling booths” Dissanayake charged.

This whole enactment was about holding the elections on the Government’s schedule he said pointing to the current regime’s insatiable power lust.

“The public needs to ask the question – on whose recommendation did the Government decide to lift the curfew? Which specialist told them it was safe to do this?” The President cannot make arbitrary decisions when people’s lives are in danger,” the JVP Leader said.

Dissanayake said he had also asked the Elections Commission whether the June 20th election date was final. The Commission had replied that was liable to change depending on how the situation evolved. The JVP Leader said he had then questioned the EC Chairman when the evaluation would be performed since the Commission had announced that it would begin to hand out preference numbers to candidates on May 4, 2020. Political parties had protested against this and insisted that the evaluation be completed about whether the election could be held on June 20 before candidate numbers are officially assigned.

The EC, Dissanayake said has to make its decision based on two key factors. The first is whether the election would be free and fair and conducted in a level playing field. The second factor was whether the officials conducting the election and voters would have to put their lives in danger during the vote.

Sri Lanka is like a Tale of Two Quagmires with COVID-19 and the Election due to ulterior motives of the political hierarchy and the CoronaTF.
    See how they handled it.
There is no point in talking about the President’s delay in closing down the airport and declaring countrywide lockdown.
But what they did last few days was absurd, immature and hilarious.
The President has suddenly decided to lift curfew. Basil has said that the COVID19 will be fully eradicated by April 20-25.
People were like bewildered at first. Soon they realized it was all about a Presidential madness to hold the election by May.
As usual, the public was silent.
The President and the Secretary/Corona Secretariat and the Head/Corona TaskForce; the “Famous Trio,” got together and lift curfew and announced that all “essential services” will commence as usual.
Their first “essential service” was opening bars!
Maybe they wanted to give a good value to the Rs.5000 welfare money given to the poor.
Then they replaced daytime curfew with nighttime, banning people from going out in the night.
Nobody could understand the meaning of this.
Some think the “Famous Trio” had imposed curfew only in the “night”, to save people from “Bats!”

        After “Bats: (continuation)
        .
Then the EC fixed the election on June 20.
        Everything has changed overnight.
        Curfew was imposed again.
        Bars were closed.
Out of nowhere they found a man who donated items to a temple infected with the coronavirus. Then they sent the Buddhist priests in the temple to quarantine.
Then they found a fishmonger infected with the virus. His associates and the people who bought fish from him were sent under quarantine. The biggest fish market in Colombo was closed down..
Then they found a barber infected with the virus. The “Trio” then ordered the closing down of all barber shops and beauty salons.
        Who is next?
        Will have to wait.

Sri Lanka is faced with two quagmires; i. COVID-19 ii. Election.
However, when one sees it backwards, it is not difficult to analyse the situation as follows:-
1).EC has fixed the election to June 20.
2).For that reason, the President’s gazette notification to dissolve Parliament will no longer be valid after June 2, as he has failed to hold the election within 3months.
3).What’s next? Simple logic. Parliament was dissolved prematurely. Therefore, with the automatic annulment of the gazette notification, it will resume as if nothing has happened.
4).The Speaker has the power to summon Parliament any day after June2.
5).For how long Parliament can be active? There is a hiccup here as the Constitution has no provision to address this issue.
6).Therefore, there is no choice other than completing Parliament’s full term until September.
7).Can the President dissolve Parliament again for the second time? No, he can’t, cos’ the EC has already fixed a date for the election.
8).The next problem is the election date.
9).Obviously, the EC cannot hold the election on June 20 as Parliament will have to complete its full term.
10).Also EC has no power to decide the duration of Parliament.
11).Therefore, they have to hold the election somewhere after September.
      12).What can the President do?Nothing.
13).The President has authorized a complete outsider to handle the country’s most important Ministries/Departments totally disregarding the caretaker government. He could even implement some of MCC’s proposals.
14).Therefore, it is imperative to reactivate the legislative arm of the Constitution in order to protect the country’s sovereignty and also handle finance, law, defence, fiscal policy, etc.
15).I don’t understand why some government politicians object to the resumption of Parliament when Mahinda is the PM.

” What’s next? Simple logic. Parliament was dissolved prematurely. Therefore, with the automatic annulment of the gazette notification, it will resume as if nothing has happened.”

Champawati, there is nothing as “Automatic” in Constitution. SC has to resolve any problem. Law has a principle if the base has lost the hold, subsequent developments to will be declared as invalid. For any reason if the Chief Executive’s proclamation is rendered as void or Ultra-virus, anything EC did following the proclamation face the same fate. So when parliament is assumed following its normal term (it cannot & it could not when New King dissolved it in 2018), EC has no authority to set an election date. The Rest of the comments are found only in Champawait’s home Constitution. It is not in the Democratic Socialistic Wildlife Sanctuary SinhaLE Lankawe Republic’s gang rules.

Thanks Champawati, though you are declaring anything you think as constitution, still you are showing signs of a breathing animal. But Eagle the Blind or Soma …. et al (your clique) always write in coma.

I used the single word “automatic” to say “technically invalid.”
After June 2, the gazette notification to dissolve Parliament become technically invalid as the President failed to hold the election within 3 months. Ithe Constitution.

Basil has misled the country all this time. How did he use the “power of veto” when selecting party nominations without any “legal” position in the party?
The EC may have accepted it as per the registered office bearers of the SLPP. However, a question arises under what capacity he held talks with the same EC on December 4, 2019 about the general election.
The Chief of the Corona Task Force is not even a Sri Lankan national.
To make the matter worse, the President has entrusted this dual citizen with the responsibility of heading another task force called “Economic Revival and Poverty Eradication!”
He seems to have started “work” in Mount Lavinia, even before this appointment. The President has also visited the worksite. Who in the world will destroy a beautiful natural beach and build an artificial beach by using the sand dredged from the ocean, just a few miles away (in Ratmalana)? When the previous slave Cabinet approved this, environmentalists and the public protested against it. The President seems to have wasted no time to deceive those who voted for him.
There are over 200 instances for the past 5 months where Reserved Forests were set on fire, obviously by political henchmen. President’s revival programme involves acquiring lands and building roads. Any fool can put two two together and see what’s next.

        Mallaiyuran
American citizen Basil Rajapaksa who was hell bent on signing the MCC Agreement has been appointed to oversee all Ministries, State Departments and State Corporations, when “Parliament is inactive.”
This is a high powered position similar to a de-facto President.
He should be behind the proposal to bring down the Indian Army to control coronavirus, undermining our military.
Parliament should be reactivated after June 2 to stop Basil Rajapaksa acting as a de facto President.
Who knows, he will even try to give a face lift to the treacherous MCC Agreement as a vital measure for a post-COVID economic revival!!!
All FAKE patriots are silent today.
Prof. Nalin de Silva, who repeatedly wrote that his precious President should be protected from Basil, is also silent, after his ambassadorial post. Maybe it was Basil who recommended him.
Gotabhya’s die hard supporter, Prof. Nalin de Silva says Gotabhya gets the advice from “God Natha.” I know nothing about “God Natha,” but Rawana has arisen now. He is old and grumpy. So, it is the “wrong Rawana” who has arisen. It took me some time to figure out which Rawana is this. I guess he is either the father or the grandfather of King Rawana. “God Natha” is insignificant when compared to Rawana. Therefore, Prof. Nalin de Silva should warn his President, as this wrong Rawana who has arisen, is tough, and shows no mercy.

          Champa,
Basil is the Great Organizer among the Paksa pantheon. Kudos to him for foresight. In a few months, we will be absolutely bankrupt with no exports and collapsed oil markets sending all the housemaids home. The MCC will be signed quietly with the same Mahanayakas supporting it. About Indian soldiers, what’s the harm if they bring a lot of extra parippu, onions, turmeric, etc, which are going to be in VERY short supply shortly.
It’s not the first time they will be fighting disease here.

Champa, it’s a good thing that you have made it clear to all readers that there have been various changes.
      .
I emailed the Editor, Uvindu, about eighteen hours ago. I have Part One of a displayed comment on the first page. I told him that I had submitted the Second Part, which I have saved as a Word document on the HDD of this computer. My computers are all obsolescent.
      .
When trying to enter a comment from my 10″ notebook I had a problem with the captcha. There seemed to be nothing inside. On this 21 inch monitor, it is clear but isn’t it unnecessarily long – nine characters? There certainly was a need for greater security, and a need to keep away the frivolous and the irresponsible. I wonder whether I’ll be able to maintain my Panini Edirisinhe log-in.
      .
Some may be surprised at my cordiality towards Champa. It is true that she and I have very different perspectives, but she’s nobody’s poodle, and she always substantiates what she says – unless provoked by all sorts of rude comments. Her concerns are serious.

        Hey Sinhala_Man
I remember your article. Why didn’t you continue writing articles?
I am very concerned about the environment. I don’t understand the reason for the government to do this artificial beach project in Mount Lavinia, in such a hurry, even amidst the corona pandemic.
According to the Coast Conservation Department, this is to combat “beach erosion.” What a joke.
How could dumping sea sand on a beach could prevent beach erosion? It will only disrupt the natural ecosystem on the beach.
It is like putting a plaster on the natural beach where constant maintenance is needed.
Dredging is also directly against the environment. The company involved in this project extracts sand from the sea, close to the shore. As reported, this project will need over 300,000 cubic meters of sand to fill the beach, which will make a large pit in the sea bottom.
People have elected this President to stop all destructive projects approved or commenced by the slave government. Instead, he has taken a -turn and try to complete a project commenced by the slave government destroying a natural beach.

          .
You can’t read everything that appears
, and I don’t write articles unless I know something for certain. I have already linked you to the article where you commented. Have other readers also located Champa’s friendly, non-committal, and decent comment – made only because she said she would? I’m grateful that there are people who honour their word – it wasn’t a promise or oath that she took.
          .
However, that article is topical now. Somebody told me carelessly this evening that Professor Ratnajeevan Hoole had been sacked from the Election Commission. I googled. It hasn’t happened yet but it could well be done tomorrow. Basta!
          .
Readers may find this interesting. Forget my article (where this was embedded) and go straight to Hoole’s report.

          .
That was Hoole’s first visit to the Maldives, and unlike the other observers, he didn’t stay behind for sightseeing. Read the report carefully. Before visiting the Maldives he had carefully studied the subject – mainly the History.
          .

I had also seen a message circulating under the name of Mr..Mangala Samraweera , it accuses Mr.Basil Rajapakshe of not including any Muslim representative among his Corvid 19 taskforce , while having one Tamil to represent the Tamil community .
There is very little access to prove all this for the common man ,
While I hold no personal grudge against Mr.Mangala, I like to remind him that the UNP had it all served on a platter and when concerned people kept on requesting to bring in a constitution that will pave the way for total transperency and true good governence , its his leader and the present leader both who did all they can to block and hold on with the wildest dreams of becoming next President, so they could do away with the temperory jack post, the 19th amenment and reverse it to their beloved late master’s excutive Presidency , so did the small parties support it openly ,who have much to gain from the Excutive presidency if they are with a government of their choice , rather than serve the people.
What humans are yet to realise is , there is a powerful connection with all energies around us with the one within us.
Our intentions play a major role.
It seems trying to play with number 19 coincidently have fixed all of us with Number 19, that now we are even unable to move out of our own homes.

I dont know why people dont want to realize it yet. I am not into party politics, but looking back I believe today, it is MEDIA mafia made previous govt be seen as not powerful enough. They did not give publicity to anything they acheived.

      – Sirisena should be brought before the court for easter bombing – it was he let Rajapakhes to return nobody else. Sirisena deserves a jail session sooner than later.

That introduction of a FORMULAR to adjust with the prices of world market was set by Mr Samaraweera – was though unwelcome by today ‘s goons. Many in europe are familiar with such formulars set to be changed at every minute. Now we have been enjoying price reduction of 15% when going to fill the tanks. With all these being aware to the people, but they seem to tolerate it in today ‘s backdrop how come ?
That is why I believe, lot more good things done by previous govt…. but they were not given any support by Press…

Today INDIAN ambulance services were introduced by previous govt… and their services have been indispensible in today s situation. But Dr Silva s name is not even mentioned by media. That Wimal weerawnse instead .. joking around as usual. Why cant the people react on him and destroy on the spot ? He is a poisonous personlity.. who could only do lot more harm to the nation.
Those known to me from B well are – retired school teachers. Yes it is tedious. We in Germany, with the curve gradually taking its way to flatten, are feeling bit better today than few a week ago, though hospitals are getting ready if a second wave would add lot more numbers.

As former Minster articulated it as no other, only in SL but island nations have managed it, but with one main entry point into the country, we could do it better if the govt closed down BIA as of end of February, but instead they through that IRAJ WEERARATNE dog- let lot more europeans in, through false propaganda… now now a single word on him and his abusive acts, in the media.. can you imagine ? Today the situation in politics of the rulers is akin to a heap of dog shit at a road side, filled with blue flies- these blue flies are the media men, ps leaders, and other benefit takers from the rajapakshe crime politics

    Mallaiyuran / April 20, 2020

Lankawe Coronavirus fight has flipped flopped badly. Aanduwa paid to some infamous organization to prematurely print their names in the top of the successful countries that fought the Covid-19. Sinhala Media even named the people who were employed in this shameful misguiding, deceiving the mass, project, by Aanduwa. But now Pavithra is saying “We are not a developed country so we cannot keep the people in curfew lockup and the economy shut long”. She means the Lankawe is already burned out by the Royal government’s delusional coronavirus fighting mechanism. Just one month ago the Hitler King declared brutal curfew on the poor and weak workers and on commons, but empty his head were to launch any planned and sustained fight against the killer virus. Now his government is coiling back in its shell, while, at least in the media, the virus is showing a virulent outburst. The interesting part is while they are backing off, claiming that they are not so developed country, from fighting the killer virus, they are comparing their ability with South Korea to conduct election safely. Within 6 months of their arrival, the Aanduwa is now forced to swallow back its throw ups.

I posted this somewhere else earlier (,250 cases). Today infected patients are nearing 370. I believe Pavitra had some idea of what was she talking that day.

Mahinda Deshapriya will accept any old lie given by his kind. He accepted fake assertions about the citizenship of the current incumbent of the presidency. Now he will accept the statements of a utter scoundrel with court cases pending against him. The stink that surrounds Basil is unbearable but Mahinda aiyya thinks feces smells good. That is the caliber of our elections commission chairmen. If nothing else he is an idiot. The other two members of the commission are true gentlemen who deserve respect but not old Mahinda Deshapriya who went on clandestine visits behind the backs of his two colleagues to witness fake documents about the eligibility of Gotler after first accepting his nomination with no questions asked. No matter what lies are spread on social media about discord in the Rajapukse camp, the appointment of Basil to be chairmen of the task force shows how closely the clan of brothers work. To rob and then use monies donated to help the poor to bribe only their followers while excluding all others on racist and political lines. Oh and don’t worry Mahinda aiyya cant see any of this election bribery.

    According to WHO
    Corvid 19
is gonna be a everyday part of our life for a long time , at least until next year, when a probable Vaccine may be found or may be not for a very long period .
So what’s the alternative besides curfew ?
and if we are unable to hold elections until 2021 , 2022 or even longer , lets be prepared to face reality .
Think its best to remove the curfew and let people take the responsibilty of self precations and make testing available everywhere including private hospitals .
let the nation start working , we are unnecessily letting our local market die.
No one seem to care about the Country’s future here, seems like most of the political bashing done is by people living overseas. .
At the moment everyone’s crippled and like it or not we all have only one choice.

    How to survive .
    ==============
Can financial institutes survive without at least local trade rolling on?

There was a time when BaRa lied to court that the mansion he built at Malwana[Rambuttan land ] in Gampaha was not his when it was imminent that he was cornered.

Notwithstanding the sordid past of the Rajapakse siblings, how is it that they still do have a following in the country?

No additional proof required, if one visits SLPP website can clearly see what Basil’s position in SLPP is. If the Election Commission Chair wants to act blind then its time EC Hoole to write another letter and publish it Deshapriya acted blind during last Presidential election nomination time as well by not writing to the US High Commission to obtain proof if US Govt has accepted Gotabaya giving up the US Citizenship. Unless and until US accepts it, its not done. The document presented by Gota to EC is only an acknowledgement that Gota has filed to give up the citizenship, the last one has to come from the US Govt after tax clearance.

    PART A

    Dear Buddhist,
    .
Although nothing from Hoole has appeared on CT, there is this report in today’s Daily Mirror,
    .
    http://www.dailymirror.lk/print/front_page/Rift-in-EC-deepens-Dates-in-August-September-initially-proposed/238-187062
    .
And this more detailed blasting of Deshapriya in yesterday’s paper:
    .
    http://www.dailymirror.lk/opinion/NEC-Chairman-continuing-as-one-man-commission-Hoole/172-187114
    .
It’s good that CT has tightened its rules for posting comments, but I think that we have always known that if these reports are to get known to people who are younger and not equipped to go to the Internet, they have to be publicised in other media. It is an unfortunate fact that Hoole himself cannot use Sinhalese, and also most of us stick to these rather staid and objective ways of reporting in English. The Rajapaksas make use of all the other electronic media, and also, as AKD says in the video (entirety seen by me, although it stopped inexplicably a few times), although Sinhalese people know that both major parties are either corrupt or tolerate corruption, when it comes to voting they go to one of the two power blocks.

      .
      “leelagemalli”,
it isn’t such a wonder to me that there is support for the Rajapaksas. Their ham-fisted handling of the pandemic (with no strategy to open up the country – and with it the economy – unless a very effective vaccine is developed by “somebody” somewhere in this global village) still means that they are seen as those in power. Please look at one of the many reports that Trump is not down and out in America despite saying that all our lungs can be disinfected using Lysol or Dettol.
      .
The majority of us humans don’t know how to identify the reliable scientists so as to get our opinions from them.
      .
Very soon a third problem will become apparent. The average human being is not prepared to speak out. This will become more marked when people like us begin to “get disappeared” in white vans or whatever. Prior to that, we’ll be labelled as either “extremists” or “anonymous”. No, you don’t fall into the second category now that CT insists on registering us. Not all of us can afford to publicise our names the way I’ve been doing.

Regarding CORONA crisis, this is very valid not only to SL but also entire world. I happened to hear that there are still lot more to be discovered regarding the CORONA-SARs COV2 strain. To tell you, few that are infected but while home-quarantining, have not infected anyone wihtin their families. And whole lot of people that are negative in the PCR test, but they have later become “infected” even if they continued to be away from “carriers”.

In general, these trials based on manufacturing a vaccine would take 18 months or longer because the trials of this nature consist of various 4 phases from start to the end.
I am telling you that- there are already few german companies have started these trials little bit earlier, for some reasons, they refrain not having added a word yet about it. Germans in general would not want to give it a publicity if they are not 100% sure. But to my info, the few companies working on this are world leading companies that work with mRNAs.
If their outcome would work well, towards the end of the year or even few months earlier, they will introduce it to the market.

Admirable woman is Angela Merkel! One of the few scientists in charge of a country.

            Dear SM,

Dr Merkel is a nice person. 3 years ago, she let over 1 mio of syrian refugees entering the country. THere, neigbouring countries stood against her. But her popularity is even more today than 3 years ago. Her party has failed to find a representive to the next eleciton. However, Dr Merkel has already made it clear that she has ruled this nation for the last 20 years again, she has no further intention to extend her term again.
See, how the kind of leaders work today in the world, and how our leaders such as Mahinda Rajakashe makes every effor to relinquish his power. That is what our men should be clear. There are enough candidates in the country, why should Mahinda be the leader of the nation any more. Those Bill Clinton, Barrak Obama, Cameran just left their offices and now work for the poor. Why our men dont seem to learn it at all ?

        Thanks, leelagemalli,
        .
I sampled all those links. Careful study may have to be off-peak hours.
        .
Some time previously, on my Android phone I got at a Youtube of Mahinda Deshapriya and Hoole being interviewed on a Sinhala Youtube of about 12 minutes. I’m sorry I can’t give you the link – my age begins to count! Deshapriya was oozing compliments for Hoole. The latter had been speaking in English but it was professionally voiced over in Sinhalese. Hoole acknowledged that he didn’t know Sinhala. He was talking mostly about dates, but also about the equal status of the three Commission Members. That was granted by Dehspriya as well.
        .
I hope that somebody will provide the link.
        .
Apparently, Hoole is trying to reach the Sri Lankan audience with the newspaper articles. I don’t know the technicalities of all this.
        .
BTW, Colombo Telegraph, is it not possible to have a simpler captcha? After all it is meant not to test our ability to distinguish between capital and simple letters, but to ensure that some remote computer doesn’t submit all this.

These 8 minutes or so is what I reported so studiously above. We now have hours and hours of Youtube, and it’ll grow. A major challenge for us, because to find out what they’re all about one must necessarily listen carefully to it all.
          .
More vivid and captivating it all is, but it adds to the complexity of following events.
          .
Thanks for all those important links you’ve given me.

            Leelagemalli,

Yes, one gets to feeling that so many guys (except myself!) are idiots! I’m myself am beginning to feel that way.
            .
But as I said, one can go on for hours – listening to very clever people instead of the fools. I wonder if you’ve heard of this 91-year-old? Speaking nine days ago, commenting on India and the Philippines apart, of course, from the “bandit in the White House.”
            .
This is Noam Chomsky – strange to see him with a beard. Naturally, a man that old doesn’t have the delivery of a younger guy, but his mind and words are clear. That (on my computer, anyway) segued to Governor Cuomo of New York saying many things that make sense.
            .
            https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-6EXZ7yM2E
            .
I remain in Bandarawela spending too long at the Internet, may be, but trying to figure out where we are going. I’ve made a note of Chameera (sometimes spelt Sameera?) Perera.
            .
Old Codger has posted something interesting someway above this. Instead of spraying all that DDT why didn’t they introduce some little fish (guppies) into those waterways? They gobble the larvae.
            .
OC complains about the captcha. Can’t it be made something simpler? In what I see above, it is difficult to tell whether the c, x, and z are capital or simple.

That may not have been the best orgainised article, but there is some genuine grass-roots stuff there which now acquires some relevance since I met the cobbler, Evans, yesterday in Diyatalawa. Please refer the earlier article to find out about this man. That he and his family are malnourished is obvious. His shack, on the other hand has been transformed into something smart – at his expense, but on the orders of the Pradeshiya Sabha. No prospect of his daughter using the computer that the State had given her. He knew by now about the need for a dongle to get on the Internet, but my offer to even show its working by turning up with my own dongle seemed irrelevant now.

    Dear Friends,
    .
It is believed that the govt should have received collossal amounts of funds from International community and bodies all these weeks, even if they and their medi amen have not exposed this sofar.:
    :
With huge sums of funds flowing into the country and with 50% price reduction of world oil prices, the state could give 50 000 rps /low income family – as the experts make it very clear, but all abusive brother duo and their plans are no different to their activities with that of TSUNAMI funds.

Now the nubmer of PCR performed so far are 13500, but compared to far poor Nepal this is still much lower state… Nepal has completed almost 50000 tests for their 27 mio population. And not a single death is reported due to corona 19 in that country.
So is also the case in Vietnam their Population is 4 times more than that of SRILANKA.
