Despite Lack Of Incriminating Evidence, Dr. Shafi Further Remanded

Dr. Shafi Shihabdeen – a victim of the growing Islamophobic agenda in Sri Lanka – was remanded once more until July 27 despite the CID informing Court last month there is no evidence to detain the Doctor, let alone take him into custody.

Dr Shafi Siyabdeen

Dr. Shafi was produced before Courts for the second time today since his arrest. He was formerly produced before Court on June 27, during which the CID informed court that the investigations into the charges levelled against him did not yield any evidence to arrest or detain him.

An AFP Fact Check report last week on the Kurunegala sterilization rumours, quoted the B report produced before the Kurunegala Magistrate Court that states the CID has specifically cleared Dr. Shafi and members of his family, from the charge of earning assets via illegal or dubious means.

Despite recommendations made by the CID, the Attorney General today insisted that Dr. Shafi has to be held in detention in order to facilitate further investigations into his wealth and assets.

Meanwhile, the Magistrate today also ordered the women who levelled accusations against Dr. Shafi of having performed unconsented tubal ligations, to undergo tests long with their husbands.

The CT readers must take the troubled to read it , because not a single TV media will.ever tell you except the stroy of Willapattu deforestation ( of cause I vehemently condemn that too ) but such stories help racists in their hidden agendas and not love for the country, if they really loved the country they should be out their dying to.protect our natural resources which once lost can.never be regained
    its up.to.us now.

In a way this is a good news for Sri Lanka Treasury struggling to run the Country .

Pass a special law to make it mandatory for all Citizens to declare their wealth , not just Politicians and doctors.

If you do not make it mandatory for all citizens to declare their assets and claim unpaid taxes due to the Country, it would be total injustice and open discrimination against an individual or group .

Is it the lack of incriminating evidence or lack of will for conducting a free and open investigation that exist behind the scenes that helps a criminal to escape conviction? This is land of confirmed and corrupt officials from the Presidency to that of a Gamaralahamy.

It is not fair to say a criminal. He is only being accused by lay people without any evidence so far. Knowing SL tradition such racists and political accusations are just the routine. Before calling him a criminal please prove the accusations. Real criminals are going around free, contesting elections, holding senior positions and many more. Let us try some justice for a change.

      Nathan,

This is the Para-Sinhala Para-“Buddhist” tradition and culture in the Land of Native Veddah Aethho, that is an insult to Buddhism and the Buddha.

The Para-Sinhala monks also participate in addition to the Para-Sinhala politicians, to maintain their hegemony.

Ask LTTE why they attacked the Para-monks and the the Temple of the canine tooth, where the Para-monks carry out their business of insulting the Buddha.

Perhaps the judge is correct in further remanding the accused doctor in spite of the clearance given by the CID. The judge must have some foresight to do so because he, the judge, is certainly aware of the top people involved in “framing” the doctor of malpractice and if released his life can be in danger, therefore, further imprisonment is for his( the doctor) own safety. This is Sri Lanka, where racism combined with corruption can cause misery to anyone due to frame ups.

Manel, don’t be so naive. Surely you cannot easily forget the cruel killings of more than 50 Tamil prisoners that occurred in the Welikada prison in July 1983. You and the Civil Rights Movement were in the forefront calling for justice from the then JR Jayawardane regime. So how can you say Dr.Shafie is safe in prison? Reason he is not released is because Court is not convinced the man is innocent.

The abortion and phelopian tube stories planted are only a red herring in order to divert our attention from the unaccounted massive wealth of Dr. Shafie who is actually holding it on behalf of Rishad Bathiudeen. All that illgotten wealth amassed from plum ministres such as Economic Promotion, External Resources, Industrial Development etc by Rishad. have to be maintained through many channels to avoid suspicion and detection. Dr. Shafie and Rishad must be laughing through their anus(s) at the gullible hoi polloi. who are complaining against the abortions , the duo knowing fully well that the Doctor will finally be acquitted from abortion charges due to lack of evidence and the more serious money laundering charges will be in limbo and be forgotten. This was how Ravi Karunanayake was in charge of Lalith Athulathmudali’s loot and and A.J. Seneviratne was having President Premadasa’s loot. Both of them profited when their benefactors met with untimely deaths telling Srimani and Hema to go fly a kite!

Putting someone in prison for their own safety?

This is surely some Kafkaesque nightmare that is only possible in Sri Lanka.

Is their no end to this madness?

Shri Lanka and it’s history is unique and as said by Blind alias HLD Sinhala Buddhists are unique and he croons that one will never find such people anywhere else in this planet except Dhamma Deepa. Safety is ensured by keeping people in prison. Then how about the Tamil prisoners slaughtered shamelessly at Welikade prison in 1983. Bottom line no decent person is safe in Dukka Deepa. Killing is our culture. Human blood is mothers milk for us. We hate peace. We kill in the name of religion. We kill in the name of race. A country that had lost all its bearings. A lost cause. Theravada Buddhism ought to be rewritten to suit today’s stand. It is an utter lie that Buddha chosen this land. When Buddha died de never even heard of Lanka or humans are existing there. Even today there are no humans here.

    CT,

In addition, Despite lack of confirming evidence, the Monks , The Priests, the Ulama etc. are fooling and brainwashing the masses, and prevent them reaching the Age of Reason and Enlightenment.

They are promised, with no evidence that they will get to Nibbana, Nirvana, Heaven, Purgatory , Limbo, Hell etc., and the Monks, Priests and Mullahs are having a Field day, fooling the brainwashed followers, who will either be biologically consumed on earth or oxidized, if cremated, in the closed Earth system .

Dear ( self proclaimed , but fake, High Cast Tamil) Siva Sankaran Sharma!

Welcome back with your patriotic (nonsense) claim of Tamils’ just rights and lands. When a woman ardent Tamil Tiger sympathizer, who once contested for European Parliament from England, she was interviewed by British media and she was asked about Tigers’ atrocities on all Sri Lankans, including Tamils( I’m sorry fake high cast Tamil SSS) , guess what her reply was, ” not ask me ask the Tigers” Mr. (fake high cast Tamil) SSS will you also give the same answer, if we put some evidence that the Tamil Tigers aren’t freedom fighters, but a bunch of lunatics like Sinhala lunatics and or Zharan (ISIS) cult.

What sort of Tamils’ right was it, when the Tamil Tigers chased the Muslims out of North, North East and North West with 24 hours ultimatum? Why do you want us to have a fake Tamil ID like your fake high cast claim. I ask you once again CAN YOU PROVE that you’r a HIGH CAST and me is a LOW CAST one? Try to grow up little bit and then come to this side to comment.

Hi Mr. Ahamed ! I was very sympathetic of Muslims chased away from Jaffna until I learnt from a reliable source that the LTTE high command took that decision soon after a cache of weapons including large number swords and knives were found being transported by Muslims in a place called Chavakacheri. That was the immediate provocation and LTTE was sharp and alert enough. But don’t worry, Srilankan government cannot do the same thing because firstly, GOSL is an established institution unlike LTTE and further neither Ranil W nor MR will dare make such a move knowing fully well they need the electoral and financial support of Rishad Bathiudeen, Rauf Hakim , Hizbolla, Azad Sally & co come next election Presidential or General.

The AG has asked this guy be allowed to go on bail while dr. shafiq has not been bailed. Is the AG anti UNP?Or is he following instructions of someone who is anti UNP. dr.Shafiq was a UNP contestant and just missed being elected with 57000 votes. The chap bailed out now can attend to various matters that he would not be able to have done in jail, covering up his tracks, while dr.shafiq who has no terrorism charges and is no threat to the community is being kept in jail by the AG.

Dr Jamunanantha, Jamuna is one of the holiest rivers for Hindus in India. It is next to Ganga. Even Buddha was living around Ganga and Yamuna (Jamuna) river basins during his time. Ayodya, Saranath, Ayodya and Benaris where Buddha was are all along these river basins. Anantha is anantham, means happiness in tamil. Just see doctor, even your entire name is from other languages and other cultures and traditions. So why do these guys are fighting and claiming that Sinhala Buddhism is a locally grown stuff? Isnt it a lie or an illusion? Of course it is well known that after first confinement there are often a period of sub fertility or even permanent infertility. The reasons are many. Do we want more sinhala kids to grow under the Kelani bridge or to become useful citizens with education and enlightenment. By the way all unwanted kids cannot become buddhist clergy!

Thanks to Dr.Shafi’s case. Until this case came up I did not know the inside of a woman except that we were all born alike through the passage of a woman. I must say that soon after the Dr.Shafi case was presented all media gave us the opportunity to learn how and where the foetus is formed and what happens when the “tubes” are blocked and so forth. though the CID, our prime investigating body has given a clean sheet after their investigations, the case has now been taken over by the clergy, politicians and the police ( l assumed the CID was an arm of the police) who along with parties with reasons of their own are blocking the release of this doctor.
Anyway, l still feel he is safe where he is and sincerely regret the various inconveniences caused to his family and to all those who are near and dear to him due to this unfortunate incident. Let us hope that this matter will soon be resolved by the concerned authorities. Justice delayed is justice denied.
