Its Time Sanga And Mahela Corrects Yahapalanaya! Respond To Puritan Maithri By Publicly Denouncing Yakapālanaya

The statement by president Maithripala Sirisena that the organizers of the Enrique Iglesias concert “Sex and Love”, the much respected and loved Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayewardena should be whipped with the toxic Stingray Tail, comes in the wake of a fraudulent cultural reawakening by Buddhist extremists. These extremists would be fully supported by the Taliban, Al-Qaida, Boko Haram and ISIS, who are forcing their women to walk wearing black tents. The President who considers himself as the guardian of virtue must have used the stingray whip on his son, Daham Sirisena and his drunk friends when they mercilessly assaulted Asela Waidyalankara, son of Senior DIG, Ravi Waidyalankara. Daham and his dirty dozen friends assaulted Asela when he tried to prevent one of them taking a picture, posing nude in front of Asela’s beautiful wife at the Paasikudah beach in Batticaloa district. Asela being the son of the Senior DIG of Police in the area did not get justice from the police department due to Maithripala Sirisena’s political clout. The drunken Daham Sirisena and his dirty dozen were given police bail for a non-bailable offence of severe assault at the intervention of the then Minister of Health and Secretary of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, Maithripala Sirisena. Asela was hospitalized with serious injuries first at Batticaloe and then in Colombo. Today the virtuous President talks about a dirty Bra thrown at Enrique Iglesias which is supposed to have destroyed the Sri Lankan culture, when he protected his son and his gang who were posing nude in front of decent women in a public beach in broad daylight.

MaithripalaPresident Sirisena should first take care of his own stables. His son and son in law were proud participants at the Enrique Iglesias concert Sex and Love, as per their face book page claimed. No one knows whether they paid for their tickets or received them free for being the President’s immediate family members. The fact that the Air-force commander’s daughter goes and performs a sex act or a woman who throws her bra at Enrique Iglesias cannot be something which Kumar and Mahela staged as the event organizers. These are acts of the nouveau riche, socially crude kids whose parents have made money through massive corruption or climbed ladders of hierarchy through political patronage. There is enough photographic and video evidence of these two girls performing their crude acts. Why is President Maithripala Sirisena, who is also the Minister of Defence reluctant to order the immediate arrest of these two frustrated females who have destroyed the cultural image of Sri Lanka as claimed by the cultural extremist Ven. Ellawala Medhananda Thero? Is it because his own Air force commander’s daughter and intended daughter in law of his close friend and financial advisor, Wegapitiya Kattiyage Hemachandra Wegapitiya (commonly known as WKH Wegapitiya) of Laughs gas fame is the one who kissed Enrique Iglesias on stage publicly? Why are the two females not charged for indecent behaviour and sentenced, if our puritan President is convinced that the young (except his own family) cannot enjoy themselves and have a little bit of innocent fun under Yakapalanaya.

Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayewardena have been thorough gentlemen, beyond comparison both in and outside the cricket field. Their extreme benevolence and charity to the needy are little know facts. They both offered to compensate all paid ticket holders of the concert that was organized by their event management company. They voluntarily offered this as their staff had failed to maintain the required standard for an international concert of this nature. Now, they have been branded as rouges by a drunkard gambler (Muslims as per their religion are forbidden to drink or gamble) who unfortunately is the current Mayor of Colombo. Interestingly, today, this virtuous Mayor is being accused of cheating 45 million rupees on the 150-year celebration of the Colombo Municipal Council. Will the FCID investigate this Mayor? If not, Kumar Sangakkara should come forward as the Mayoral candidate at the next Municipal elections and pack this scoundrel to prison for stealing and also tarnishing the image of two of the world-renowned Sri Lankan cricketing legends.

This nation of ours is taking a few leaves from the authoritarian regime of Saudi Arabia, where the religious police go around whipping everyone who they presume as not decent. We will soon have to stone to death people who are going out in the middle of the night in blacked out vehicles without the normal security contingent on their sex jaunts.

Whatever the circumstances are, I am sure these two fine sportsmen will not play “gallery politics”. I wish Sanga can be a Cabinet Minister and Mahela also.

This is a Great Opportunity to Expose the Para-Sinhala Para-Buddhists., and the convoluted standards of Maitripala Sirisena, claiming the ancient Para-Sinhala Buddhist Culture, with covered breasts. Why?

      1. The Para-Sinhala arr Paras from India, Sinhala is a Para-Language.

      2. Buddhism is a Para-Religion, just like the other Para-Religions of Hinduism, Christianity, Islam and others that are NOT, Native to he Land of Native Veddah Aethho. In fact the Mahawansa is an Insult to the Buddha.

“Through a comparison with the mtDNA HVS-1 and part of HVS-2 of Indian database, both Tamils and Sinhalese clusters were affiliated with Indian subcontinent populations than Vedda people who are believed to be the native population of the island of Sri Lanka”

      3. Maitruipala Sirisena, has got his balls tangled on the culture of the Land of Native Veddah Aethho.

Most women both Sinhala and Tamil, did not wear bras or jacket, and their breasts were tangling.

      4. “This nation of ours is taking a few leaves from the authoritarian regime of Saudi Arabia, where the religious police go around whipping everyone who they presume as not decent. At least the Saudi Arabians and Arab women covered their bosoms and breasts from an Early age. That was NOR the culture of Sinhala and Tamils. Look at the Sigiriya Frescoes.

Hi Mr.Sinhala or Tamil culture respected children where as middle esat culture saw children as small adults hence Mohammed married a child of 6 and carried her to bed and raped when she was 9 years old!.That was many years ago and I dont know whether they are still happening although in Bangladesh yes!The same way Singhalese women used topless clothes but have changed their styles hundreds of years ago although Westerners did go back time and keep nude beaches around the world. As for many societies there are norms which has nothing to do with throwing bras at public places.Instead of inviting idiots like Iglesias Mahela and Sanga who wanted to be role models for young children could have done something to protect children as our country is now immerse in crimes thanks to media and people like Sanga and Mahela who want to serve people who can afford 35,000 Rs for a concert ticket!

Sanga and Mahela should set a better example by SIMPLE LIVING. The blame game is irrelevant. They set a BAD EXAMPLE of crass consumerism and INEQUALITY with their business choices and CONSUMPTION PATTERNS for the youth of Lanka who no doubt need liberation from the Sinhala Buddhist Taliban and moral police like BBS.

However, Sri Lanka today is being primed for SUPER CAPITALISM and SUPER INEQUALITY, and super CONSUMPTION that only SUPER CORRUPTION of the political and sports elite enables – a culture of crass consumerism that includes 35,000 rupee tics. can only survive with a CLASS of super rich consumers who could have made CORRUPT BLACK MONEY or have inherited wealth, and who make a display of life style vulgarity which is increasingly pushed also by Countries and embassies like the UK which had a gala launch of the James Bond film Spectre to sell British cars – Land Rover etc. to the Colombo elite.

Ranil Wickramasinghe was at the UK High Commission party to sell British cars under the James Bond Ad.
Sports, entertainment, consumption of kitch and corruption as with FIFA and Lankan cricket with Sumathipala go hand in glove to DE-SENSITIZE people to ECONOMIC INEQUALITY AND POVERTY. This has happened in the West and ISIL or DAISH is a response to this gross consumerism which numbs the mind, while the masses remain poor and marginalized. The fact is that one does not need to be a Sinhala Buddhist nationalist, or worried about female fan’s underwear, to be against this kind of kitch pop culture show of Enrique. Surely there are more interesting musicians with a message, to entertain & educate the culturally starved youth of Lanka. Surely there are African artists and GLOBAL SOUTH musicians and Jazz starts to invite from Places like South Africa and Brazil???

Sanga should not be cleaning rubbish in the city but is fit to be our next presidet. Kumar Sangakkara, come out and challenge this grama sevaka and ask him to use the whip if he dares. The country is with you because you had no control of bra throwing or kissing on stage women. The police and minister of defense should be whipped with anything for their failure to enforce the law. 95% will vote for you to be the next president

Sanga is fit to be the President, nothing less because he is not a racist and will treat all communities alike unlike Maithripala and Mahinda who do temple politics. He proved this at the MCC spirit of cricket speech. http://www.espncricinfo.com/srilanka/content/story/522183.html

    Granville Perera,
While agreeing with most of what you say, Do you think that bringing the Culture of the Decadent West to Sri Lanka is in the best interests of the future Generations of Sri Lankans?

Some Members of the Audience seem to be imitating Western Audiences, and any Decent Sri Lankans would bow their Head in Shame at Bra Throwing Women!

        Dear Granville Perera,

Must you fly to such extremes in saying things? Much as I admire both Sanga (whom I have met) and Mahela (whom I haven’t met), I think it unfortunate that their image has been tarnished. No, they are not directly to blame, but what has happened underlines how important it is for the famous to be careful not to get used.

What I have written here is one of the three comments that I tried to post more than eight hours ago, about 3.00 a.m. Then I realised that I had lost Internet connectivity, so I saved all of them, and now I will post all the comments without changing them. The original comments (including all my mistaken assumptions about other reactions), appear below:

President Maithri has got bashed over his spontaneous reaction – but not by me. A man of his age and background was obviously going to be outraged by what happened – and I’m glad that he spoke as he did. Obviously, I wouldn’t have, but I don’t imagine that the world should be filled with my clones. Unfortunately, far too many “foreigners” (including probably Granville Perera), have probably NOT carefully listened to the Sinhala words actually used by Maithri. I’m sure that he did not know the identities of the two girls involved, and those identities are irrelevant. The debate here is much more serious; please be careful in writing. You have actually written “sex act”! You see the snowballing?

As for Pasikudah: disciplining is best done quietly and privately. I’m sure that Maithri would have done it at family level. Unlikely to have been corporal punishment. As for the “maduwa’s tail” – I’m sure that nobody in the Ampara audience took it literally. It had then to be translated to be understood abroad. How many reading the article have seen an undismembered Sting Ray – alive or in a fish market?

The bottom line for me is: use language responsibly!

          My dear Sinhala_man,

You know Maithri is a traitor and backstabbed Mahinda who actually trusted him very much. A person of that calibre would resort to any form of treachery. He did not use the stingray whip on his son and his dirty dozen when they were photographing themselves nude in front of respectable ladies. So, what right has he got even to whip the buttocks of the air force commanders daughter who got it all wet on stage. His midnight jaunts also need the sting ray whip if it is culture and Buddhism he is talking about

            Dear Upul Jayasuriya,

Thanks for your decent comment, but you’ve not been careful with details yourself. I have, myself, realised that I went too far in defending Maithri, and I have responded to a wonderfully balanced comment by Mano Ratwatte:

            https://www.colombotelegraph.com/index.php/the-song-dance-about-enrique-iglesias/#comments

The main point is that Maithri was very specific that the “two ladies” (now it looks as though there was only one – since the bra seems to have been thrown by a man) were NOT the people who deserved a whipping. His concern was preserving what he wrongly identified as “our culture”. However, it is good to speak your feelings, but as the President, he should not have done so in public.

Yes, he betrayed MaRa; but was there any other way that the necessary changes could have been been brought about? If MaRa had been in power, and if he was furious (which may not have been the case), he would have ensured that murders were committed – everything done extra-judicially.

Answer the specific questions that I have asked, including this: did you actually listen to the (Sinhalese) words that Maithri foolishly uttered? They were not as bad as they have been made to sound in English – the word “toxic” was not there.

Also, I made the mistake of not quoting enough of Granville Perera’s irresponsible article: He says: “The fact that the Air-force commander’s daughter goes and performs a sex act” – now what does that mean in normal English? Doctors, who talk a peculiar English would understand, “coitus”, we would understand “intercourse”, or would say the four letter word “f***”. See what I mean about our need to use language carefully?

Also, the need to acknowledge when we are wrong – as I do now!

Let Maithiri’s “juvenile” family be allowed to learn their lessons the hard way, but I’m concerned about the appointment of his brother as Telecom Chairman.

I hope that you respond, Upul.

Whose “midnight jaunts”? This is something that you have vaguely added: you see how the snowballing continues?

I have already posted a longer comment which I hope that CT will publish. Actually, I find that CT is very FAIR in that respect, although they are playing up the supposed nepotism stories too much.

Only the Telecom story needs to be clarified by Maithri. We cannot hold him responsible for his Araliya and other brothers. I’m sick of lawyers and all the delays of Judicial Processes – but sifting evidence does take time: fortunately for the Rajapaksas. What say you to Thajudeen, Eknaligoda, Lasanth W.,Raviraj etc. etc. (I just can’t remember, at this time, all the other – mainly Tamil – names).

To complete the condemnation of my comments, all that is needed is for a Tamil to call me a racist for ignoring all their people who suffered. Look, I’m just an elderly man commenting on what I have understood. Please correct me, if I have made huge blunders.

Is that all you think there is, to Life?

          Hamlet,

What’s wrong with “Sex & love”? I fully deserve my fair share. Therefore I went to the concert. Do you mind?

I am a Sinhalese with Aryan roots. Kama Sutra belongs to our ancient culture. Enrique was inspired by it. Aren’t you? Do not let us down by embracing phony Victorian English values.

How come our beloved President is so against sex & love anyway? Isn’t he a proud Sinhalese?

President’s son-in-law was standing rather close to where I was at the concert. Thilina Suranjith is a true patriot. I can assure you he is very loyal to our common Kama Sutra heritage.

          Cheers!

Ben Hurling, I see your point. You also had a daughter with you who liked throwing her Bra at Iglesias. Were you happy about it?

I wouldn’t have been happy if my daughter wanted to throw her bra into Iglesias’ Ring!

Hamlet, These colombo chaps, would love even looking at those things. The would not utter a single word against. For them throwing amude or bras are nothing. But president noticed it and he had no fears to raise it. That I repsect.

They are not at all cultural. THey just want to attack the remarks made by President. That is it. If President came from CMBO, this would nothave seen this way.

I hate the kind of class sysetem still prevailing in SL.

But I agree with Prez Sirisena, why should we follow up the westerners ? We have our cultural values. Dont we ?

PS: Have you just seen yet another nightmare about an impending Western invasion of SL? This time with Enrique as their deadliest weapon? Supported by Bra throwing localfemale collaborators? Did you take your anti-depressant drug last night?

      Hello Hamlet

It is the so called “decadent west” that introduced the bra to Ceylon. The Victorian-Christian rules that made it mandatory for native Ceylonese women to wear bras and illegal to walk topless in public. So write with knowledge without blaming the West for our problems.

Before the bra we had the “Thana pataya” (තන පටය) worn only by the upper caste. The normal women were forbidden to cover their breasts – even young virgins.

So understand our culture before we blame the west

      First Granville Perera Should say;

IF it Was Granville Perera’s wife Or Mahela Or Sangakkara’s wives, would they have married those particular women ?

Does Granville perera want his daughter, sisters, or future wife to do that ?

IF you say, that women can be prostitutes except my family members, my wife or my daughters, then you are weakling.

Jimmy Softy, I think that is what the author is trying to say. You cannot blame our hero’s, Sanga and Mahela for the work of the daughter of our air force commander. Why doesn’t the president arrest her for causing indecent behavior in public and whip her in public? No, he wouldn’t dare, because there would be a coup in Sri Lanka and Gota will take over and Whip Sirisena with the stingray tail for the rest of his life.

Culture and Religion cannot be imposed. It has to be inculcated at home and not by the president or any other than the parents. Religious education and decent exposure to culture in your home is what makes children decent. Today, most parents are behaving in such immoral ways that the children are ashamed,

My comment is, If Granville Perera says that it is the fault of Majority Sinhala people’s aberrant thinking, he should be prepared to accept when his daughters throw their bras and underwears to a singer implying take me.

IF he is not married, he should be prepared to marry such a woman.

I am pretty sure, two Cricket players did not intend to do that or expected it.

What ever that woman did was the action of a sexually starved woman. She did not want at least to check whether he is positive for HIV-AIDS or any other communicable disease (Herpes and many mnore). That shows how stupid she is.

            0

Clearly more and better sex education needed!

Could that girl, however silly, have possibly contracted a SEXUALLY transmitted disease by kissing a guy?

One thing else that is glaringly lacking in the comments is any reference to the COMMERCIALISATION of entertainment today. That wasn’t lost on Maithri: he did have more to say on the price of tickets than on the sting ray (some of you guys added “toxic” to allow foreigners to understand, who in turn let it go viral for a couple of days to feel smug about how civilised they are, and how barbaric punishments in Asian countries were in the past.

Please, let’s not start hurling ethnic insults next. In the past, chastisement was always more harsh than today in all societies. Nobody has yet been judicially whipped with a “Madu Walige” after Independence, as far I know.

As for commercialisation, I know that many songs by Enrique’s father were considered wonderful, but see what I found about wasteful decadence:

“In 2008, after his house in Indian Creek did not sell at his asking price, he ordered it torn down to the ground and said he planned to build another on that lot.[29] In 2012 he purchased the property next door for $15 million and announced that he planned to build a new home on the combined properties”

You will find it at the very end of this:

            https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Julio_Iglesias#cite_note-31

I’ve listened again, just now, to what Maithri said. I agree that he shouldn’t have commented on this in public: it just wasn’t presidential. However, it is good if people actually listened to his words so that they talk pertinently:

            https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6jt2H3KwBk

All that took place in the year 2015. Why not move forward to a 2016 in which everyone of us demonstrates that we have learnt what is acceptable, and what is not?

comes in the wake of a fraudulent cultural reawakening by Buddhist extremists.

          Mr. Granville Perera:

Above is what drew my attention.

So, my comment was if you are not sinhala buddhist, you should first accept your daughters, sisters or even you wife throwing their underwear.

I know a muslim would not right that way, as they don’t want even their women to show anything other than their eyes, some times not even that.

Jimmy, I am a Sinhalese with pure (unadulterated) Aryan blood, but I am willing to call a spade a spade. My biggest concern is that Maithri is pandering to the Buddhist clergy and has started his temple politics just as the fraud Buddhist Mahinda Rajapaksa did. This may be also Maithri’s scheming strategy to counter Mahinda regaining his popularity amongst our clan, but he is making an ass of himself.

              Dear Granville Perera,

Do you really want us to take this statement of yours seriously: “I am a Sinhalese with pure (unadulterated) Aryan blood,”

I’m conscious that for at least about three generations (that means 8 great-grand parents)my ancestors IDENTIFIED as Sinhalese and spoke the language. I have two children who are fluent in Sinhalese; they have four first cousins who know not a word of Sinhalese (there is such a thing as a Sinhalese Diaspora) and only one who speaks Sinhalese. Even that, plus my two children are either equally fluent in (Sri Lankan) English, or perhaps in most “registers” (I hope readers are familiar with that technical term) they can operate in English.

To get back to “unadulterated Aryan blood” – I don’t think that you know what you’re talking about! Your very name suggests otherwise, but that is not conclusive. A DNA test is said to be pretty conclusive, but I don’t know enough medicine to be sure.

Seriously: the myth is that Vijaya came here about 540 B.C. That’s something like 2,556 years ago: even such a calculation is ridiculous. Do you mean to say that you know ALL your ancestors for that many years?

All that I will say is that I FEEL like a Sinhalese.

Pleas do bury it, let other people lead their life they want to, I am sri lankan sinhalese and buddhist, I do not want victorian bulshit over my life.
Go read Robert knox book to understand the sinhalese sexual habits.
Even now two brothers share one wife to protect land, you and your culture !

        Srinath,
since when you became a budhist ?
I thought, the manner you stood proxy criminals in the days of elections, you should 100% be pro-violent man who found greener pastures in the UK.

Whoelse can be behind this SINHALE stickers than Raja proxy fractions.

Remember the days, BBS was so violent even worst comparably to those immolators of Myanmar.?Today very same BBS to stay as if both orifices are sealed off – well prove that they had been controlled by Rajapakshe men.
How man of the poor people got hurt in Aluthgama then ?

Howmany of poor people got hurt even died in Rathumalwila ?

Why these blood thirsty Rajapakshes have been doing this to their own folks ?
All these go thorugh my head as I write this.

What does the man in his early 70ties feel about the future of this war torn nation ? His top of the agenda is to revenge – as CBK expressed it very earlier – born rascals actually.

Dear …. Look at your name , my name ..all these are burrowed from west ..but still we are talking about our culture …we are almost western …look at our dresses ….our day to day livings….our cultural values come as historical , national occasions..symbolic …once in a year ..you n me wearing a sarong with Batik shirt to show that we are a sri Lankan’s. That’s it ..rest of the year , we are following western life style…our culture has invaded few times…Food , Dance , Music and many many more things..getting back to roots are not easy ..rather impossible…we are as a nation..not setting the trends..we are trend followers..

If we are talking about the incident which we are talking about..

Organizers has nothing to do with it.
This is not the First western show in sri lanka.
One BITCH was trying to show her culture …not the Sri lankan culture..
It is The president who has marketed the incident for his own advantage and make it a national issue.
Within sri lanka..so many under garment been removed by willingly or un willingly for money…no big noise ..why ? coz it is commonly practicing in society.

Finally …this incident should have ignored by all of us ..If the president has not marketed it.

    GRanville Perera:

first Influence your sisters and your daughters to throw their underwear and Bras at stages. then we can understand that you are enlightened person.

First do that, and publish a photo.

IT does not matter if you sons are gay they can throw their underwear in a GAY concert. Otherwise, you just a coward who have a specific agenda.

See, in the name of god how many Christian priests has HIV-AIDs.

Well said, Jim Softy. Its time that people in this country stop following western culture and if this continues, they will be walking naked with paint on their body as is often seen in some western capitals. But is it the responsibility of the President of the country who should look after our children. What is the role of the Parents???? Have we lost all of this to the international school culture. We see many young women and men in very compromising situation even in public and no one would dare to act because most of the are the new rich kids who are children of thuggish politicians or corrupt businessmen who have their underworld gangs by their side. Have we forgotten our own Dr Mervyn Silva saying that it is OK for his son and the youth to try some hard drugs. Why was he not locked away for good. So, the parents need to be cautious and ensure that the children don’t go around kissing every one and getting laid in public

A whole lot of hypocrits in prominent positions (Sirisenas, Sangas and Mahelas, Hirunika and the likes) continue to cause confusion in all walks of life in the country causing the young to go astray in their attitudes and behaviour. The change that took place exactly an year ago in politics and governance, although welcome, seems to be just a flicker in the hopes that people expect. How can the whole system be changed? Will this remain an unanswered question?

    4

Yes, it time take the bull by the horns and call a spade a spade. Our President is horrendously wrong and is an idiot. He has laid all the blame on the organisers. The event management company that organised this is partly owned by Kumar and Mahela.

Based on what logic has he blamed these two gentlemen? The event itself was sanctioned by CMC and no bylaws were contravened. So what has occurred? According to the media and President’s own accusation, there had been alcohol amply available, a bra had been thrown on to the stage and a girl hugging and kissing the Enrique Iglesias. The main grouse of the President is that these are not compatible with the Sri Lankan culture. It is he who grudgingly accepted few weeks ago that he cannot ban alcohol and if he did so the government would fall! Since when did people consuming alcohol become against the law? So why is complaining now?

It is regrettable that someone threw a bra and a girl kissed the performer on the stage. But there are bigger and more heinous sexual crimes in the country. According to TIME “Every day, three to five children are raped in the island nation.” UNICEF reports “According to figures tabled in Parliament in April 2013, there were 1,750 cases of child rape, 5,475 cases of child molestation and 1,194 cases of child abuse in 2012” http://www.unicef.org/srilanka/VAC(3).pdf I did not hear or see President getting worked up over these crimes. No statement about Sri Lankan culture by him. He says he is from the village and he cannot approve girls hugging and kissing on stage. Well I have news for you Mr. President. Most of the Child rape is rampant and are unchecked in the villages. So Mr. President take a good hard look at your own village culture and correct yourself. Why don’t you take open and hard stand on the wide media about these?

On top of these you have accused the organisers of this event. What logic is that? How can the organisers stop a girl throwing a bra on the stage? Nothing short of a security check and padlocking around their waists can stop it? Fans getting invited to the stage and by the performers nothing new at all to Sri Lankan public. In this particular case the girl went further and kissed the performer. How can the organisers stop it? Padlock her lips – maybe!

The main owners of this event management company Sang and Mahela are gentlemen par excellence. These two have brought honour, glory and prestige to mother Lanka worldwide more than you or the whole cabal of our parliament put together! Just remember that Mr. President. You are nowhere near these gentlemen when it comes to credit to the nation. So shut up!

Yes, you have served the country well by being the spearhead to remove an authoritarian dictator – Mr Rajapakse. For that we give you credit and thank you. But stick to what you know – wheeler dealing Sri Lankan politics. You are good at that and that is what you should limit yourself to.

India has controleled Face book and social web sites. Manh countries in the world have done that.

Will the President’s media adviser reply/comment on the matters laid bare in this article?

If young people cannot have fun in private in an Enrique concert, are we going to force them to meditate on the glorious ‘Buddhist culture’ instead?
The world over, such concerts occur in summer in large open air venues and the young enjoy.

Fazeel, you dont know what happens behind the black tent. Do you know who goes inside the tent. It could be your wife or daughter going out to get laid by x,y,or z. I know of many criminal cases that has happened with the black tent in India and Sri Lanka. So, first remove that to save your women from promiscuity

Sanga and Mahela should know that they are duty bound to pay taxes due to the State like any other person. Forget about the bra affair but the deliberate attempt to defraud the State should not go unpunished. Pretty words about transparency is not enough. They should admit to the Fraud and pay up

The drunkard mayor is trying to get his renomination from the Maithri clan as Ranil has chosen our sweet Rosy. That is why he has come up with the tax story. Mahela and Sanga has paid all taxes due. Sanga, its time you reveal how Musalaya forced you to give 20 tickets free, to send his wife to get warmed up to Enrique’s beat. Wonder what she would have done if she got on stake. She probably would have bared all her assets

Let me tell you something. You dirty politian leave our culture and cuntry alone. My culture and cuntry standard very long time without you. Mr president you can’t protect my cuntry or culture. Leave to my fallow cuntry men. We will protect our culture and our pride.I think it’s time to you to get lost

what ever happened at the concert due to poor organization, the president should not have used such hash words on Mahela and Sanga,
who are two through gentlemen representing Sri Lanka as ambassadors
of sports in the country. These two are still in the news playing
for various clubs in Aussie & England and lately, Sanga became the
man of the series in America where Cricket great Shane Warne organized
a cricket tournament to promote Cricket in USA,and many stars including
Tendulkar, Wassin Akram & legend Brian Lara, took part.

These two cricketing greats are novices in entertainment field and
they had to depend on experienced people who flopped the show. Knowing what his son has done in the past,as described in this article and got away easily,The Prez, should have been fair to Mahela & Sanga as well and should have initiated an immediate inquiry and punished those who
misbehaved, through the police, instead threatening famed international
cricketers. If not for the respect Sanga had around the world, he would not had been invited to deliver Colin Cowdrey speech at a prestigious location in London. How many Sangakkaras and Jayawardneas we have, who could be called to prestigious locations to deliver speeches to highly educated gatherings, including celebrities.
In all fairness and in the name of cricket, the prez should call both
of them to the President’s house and offer a cup of Tea and do away with the ill feeling, his statement caused,as these two greats did excellent service to the nation, which we should not forget because they have retired.

Sirisena has no moral right to claim cultural supremacy when he is considered the greatest traitor by the nation when he back stabbed Mahinda Rajapaksa who saved his son from certain imprisonment over the incident in Passikudah mention by Granville. His son and friends can pose nude in front of decent girls but Sanga and Mahela should be whipped for the misbehavior of his own air force commanders daughter.

      Upali Kodikara,

Does contesting in a Presidential election in a democracy amount to back stabbing in your book? What kind of book is that? Can’t be Mahavansa. Just curious.

Besides, in this case Sirisena’s former boss Rajapassa was known to be stealing from the nation along with his gigantic clan.

Sirisena did a great service to this nation by sending corrupt Rajapassa clan home.

      Cheers!

Ben, any one as scheming as Maithri can do anything to anyone. Who was he before Ranil elevated him to the presidency. He was only a glorified clerk of the SLFP. Do you think that he could have mustered 100,000 votes Island-wide without Ranil and the UNP? See what he is doing to the UNP. He is now hell bent on building up the SLFP by bringing in all the rouges from the former regime and destroying Ranil’s vision for a progressive government. I am a born SLFPer and an ardent Mahinda fan. My stand is Mahinda called a spade a spade.

On a more lighter note the President’s action in this matter draws a paralell with the popular Sinhala saying “Like the cat that sh…t on a dry rock”.With no patch of grass to rub its rear quarter to rid it’s self of remnants of the mess the smell is spreading far and wide around His Excellency, most sadly. The President is a good man who has made possible enormous changes for the better in very short time.On this occasion he made a mistake and I believe he should be magnanimous enough to admit it and say Sorry! In a moment of lunacy which we are all subject to from time to time Mr President chose the wrong subject to speak on.However there is a message in his criticism of the behaviour of the young women that imitating vulgarity for vulgarity’s sake can spell disaster to oneself and bring shame to their families and loss of respect. It takes a long time to recover such loss of respect. They should have known that such behaviour does not fit in with the accepted cultural norms

Granville Perera, the writer of the article should reply to this:

Granville, if it was your wife/future wife, sister or daughter who had thrown that bra on stage, would you approve of that?

If you want freedom of the wild-ass, it won’t be tolerated in this country. Not only Buddhist culture, but Christian, Moslem and Hindu cultures too won’t tolerate this type of nonsense. There are a lot of things that one can take from the west and at the same time, there are a lot of thing one can reject in the so called ‘free-world’.

I think the President’s attitude is Hypocritic. He should take a good look at the skeletons in his own family cupboard, which are many, in the past 12 months, apart from ones before, when he was with the past regime, till the last hopper feed he enjoyed with MR the night before the elections. Judas ????. He is bound to do the same to RW in four years.

The bra-less beauties of old Sigiriya tell us more about the horny Sinhalaya than any bra can.

I was surprised that any of the girls were wearing restricting undergarments on that hot and steamy night.

A lady ‘friend’ of mine confirmed that she went ‘commando’, and said that she got her monies worth as many went ‘commando’ too.

None of our rich national culture was damaged in the staging of the show.

What is this country of ours coming to. The leadership is in shambles.
As they say power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. This has been the norm since independence.
Sanga I know is an officer and a gentleman. His standing in the international arena can not be matched by any these opportunistic elements.
    It is in their DNA
People living in glass houses can ill afford to throw stone at others. Those people elected to some of the highest offices
in the nation should be truthful to themselves and be model citizens. Am I asking too much? I can say to them that “Double standards” in the long run would not and should not succeed. Yes, before anything Sanga should return the Drugs Ambassador position bestowed on him by Maithripaala Sirisena because it is an insult to Sanga to continue under an idiotic presidency who needs to be sent back in an Amuday to the paddy fields of Polannaruwa. or will he say, Amuday is provocative. It doesn’t matter anyway, it will not sand and will just hang only unless he follows Sir John.
